  • DBE 053: Truth Behind The Camera (Part 1)

    Truth Behind The Camera is a 3 part series about connecting the dots between life and business but also bringing awareness to a very personal and emotional topic. Jess strives to be fully transparent with her audience and that's why there is a TRIGGER WARNING for this first part in the series. Listener discretion is advised as medical details are mentioned and can be uncomfortable for some audiences. The purpose for sharing this series is multilayered; bringing awareness to an often "not talked about in public" topic, creating a safe and open space to be on our own journeys of healing, and to hopefully allow others to not feel alone in whatever they may be navigating.

    Jess and Mike sit down today to talk about their experience with an ectopic pregnancy and what that meant for not only their business, but their lives. This series has a tone of "giving yourself permission" and while we don't NEED validation from others, sometimes it's nice to be reminded. During part 1, Jess and Mike shine a light on how this experience showed current business model leaks and holes; as well as strengths. As Jess will discuss, she's been living in a quentisional "instagram vs reality" and this episode will begin to unpack what that actually means and how you can apply it to your life and business.

  • DBE 052: Self-Trust, Staying Power, and the Skill of Scaling With Jill Coleman

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution podcast Jess is joined by Jill Coleman who is the founder of JillFit and the creator of The #Moderation365 Method. Over the last decade as an online business coach, Jill has helped thousands of health, fitness and nutrition professionals start and grow their online coaching businesses and generate over 6M in sales. Learn today from Jill's specialties as she dives into personal branding, self trust, and staying power.

    Tune in to learn how to earn the right to pivot in your business, how to grow and scale your business and how to create the impact as you mature as a business owner!!

    As always, cheers to your evolution!

    Key Takeaways:

    • The best time to mess up is when you are getting started. Allow yourself to get repetitions in the beginning because it's the smallest your audience is ever going to be! Start unlearning the perfectionist mentality because through reps you can start approaching a more perfect approach. It's all about delayed gratification as you keep trying over and over.
    • When it comes to staying power the best thing about it is your audience power, it's your fans,the community, the people who want to open your emails and communicate with you. When you build your community it stays for a long time. Once you gain this trust you can also pivot if you choose to do so because if you have given them a win in one area of their life they will follow you for another!
    • Scaling a business is like learning a new skill. It will be messy as you all learn as a team but you will mature as a business owner. Not everyone needs to scale and scaling is not all about making more money as that is just the tip of the iceberg.

    Key Timestamps

    [12:02] – The best time to mess up is in the beginning;

    [17:36] – Staying power;

    [29:45] – Earning the right to pivot;

    [39:00] – Scaling your business;

    [44:46] – Lifestyle as marketing;

    Episode Quotes

    • "The best thing about a personal brand is that you are able to honor who you are. And I think that the most fulfilling part of this is that you get to show up as you and your authenticity is your compliance tool " - Jill Coleman
    • "Dont assume that every year your business has to grow, especially if you are going through something in your personal life." - Jill Coleman
    • "The people I see with the 7-figure business are not showing their bank accounts, they are saying, what is the impact that I am making? How many lives am I touching? And I think for me that's been the thing that has lifted me up the most because when your clients win that's all you need." - Jill Coleman

  • DBE 051: 3 Reasons Why You May Not Be Making The Sales You Desire

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution Podcast, Jess goes over the 3 main reasons why after putting your heart and soul into something for your business or offer, people are still not buying.

    When your results are not equal to the efforts you put in, this can be very frustrating and defeating. To avoid this frustration, you have to start with the end in mind and zoom out from your business roadmap to get a better understanding of how you want to get your leads through a transformation and into a sale. By putting together a conversion event, balancing how much or how little value you give away and planting more seeds you will start to see a shift in how you impact people and in turn make more sales!

    As always, cheers to your evolution!

    Key Takeaways:.

    • A conversion event is used interchangeably for a launch vehicle. A conversion event is really like a free experience like content or a podcast where you are giving value, you're subtracting objections that people might have and then you're adding a deadline for urgency.
    • There is a dance and rhythm to giving too much or giving too little. Giving a transformation leading to a pitch is more important than the actual sale itself.
    • Plant more seeds! A lot of us have the solution or cure for something and we are not confident enough in sharing for fear of rejection or looking a certain way.

    Episode Quotes

    • "The invitation, the offer, the pitch, that's not where the selling happens. The selling is happening before the pitch. " –Jessica DeRose
    • "If you are not confident in selling it, they are not confident in buying it . " –Jessica DeRose

  • DBE 050: Foundational Branding For Your Business With Cathy Savage

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution podcast, Jess takes the stage with the legendary Cathy Savage. Since the early 1990s, Cathy has been the pioneer in successful coaching and consulting for women from all over the world. Her programs were the first all inclusive digital global trainings of their kind! Learn today about why branding is so important and what exactly is foundational branding; as it is one of the key elements that makes sure that what you are building is authentically you and is solving the problems your customers may have.

    Cathy also takes us through how it all started for her and her coaching career, how to create safety inside your coaching programs, how to navigate ego and so much more! This is truly an important episode to listen in on showing up not only for your business but for yourself and the people that need you. You have to show up for what you wanted to do in the first place and it may sound black and white but it truly helps because sometimes we can get lost in the gray.

    As always, cheers to your evolution!

    Key Takeaways:

    • When it comes to battling your ego just remember who you are serving. This is where a business owner needs to stay! Things just happen for the best when you think like this and something else to realize is that the good ones never forget where they came from.
    • Branding is everything because it is the way you communicate your value to others. Foundational branding is all about the way you communicate your values and visions and not how valuable you are. Ultimately it's not about attracting customers but about your vision. What do you see? What are people going to get from you?
    • If you are doing what you love there is no getting bored or burnt out at all; however, if you know yourself you know when to pivot and you know when you are done. The mark of sustainability is to know when to pivot, it's to listen to the trends and follow your heart. Do not be stuck in your own ways.

  • DBE 049: 4 Ways To Warm Up Your Audience

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution Podcast, Jess talks about warming up your audience and why it is one of the most important pieces to setting yourself up for an easier and flowier launch. Launching is like dating in the sense that you are building know, like and trust with your audience. You want to get your audience from cold where they barely know you, to hot where they want to buy the very next product or service from you! Most entrepreneurs make the mistake of going straight to the sale or proposal with their audience before ever so to speak "dating them". Jess has packed this episode with 4 things you should start doing before selling. Keep in mind that this process is all about the long game, as you want to build relationships with people. Remember that short term thinking leads to short term results.

    As always, cheers to your evolution!

    Key Takeaways:.

    • Before selling, do your market research. Make sure that the market you are entering is profitable and that there is competition. Competition is a good thing! Competition forces competitors to level up and means that people want the product. Market research is also about looking at the data that you already have with the people that already follow you and your content.
    • Really listen to what people are asking you for and turn it into content. Your audience can validate that your messages are getting across to them and helping them so that if it isn't then you can adjust your messaging before even trying to sell them anything.
    • It is very important to bring your audience along the journey with you! Empower them to be a part of something like picking branding colors or sticking with certain content. People like to be a part of a community and you will gain interest from them because they will want to know if what they voted for or did is something you went with.

    Episode Quotes

    • "Eventually you get the person to hot and a hot person will often become a buyer. But understand that this is the customer's journey and this takes time. This is not an overnight thing and this is where we say play the long game. " –Jessica DeRose
    • " Teasing is also saying come with me on this journey, help me build this thing for you. And if they buy cool, if they don't buy it doesn't matter because you are teasing to build a community. " –Jessica DeRose

  • DBE 046: Understanding the Essentials of Hiring With Jackie Koch

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution podcast, you get to learn all about hiring for your business with Jackie Koch. Jackie is a one stop shop with anything relating to HR and hiring. With her 15 years of experience in building teams for fortune 500 companies, Jackie goes into details about why hiring is one of the key components to scaling your business. Hiring is one of those situations in business where you get to do deep ego work as you let go of things to free up time, energy and maximize what you and your team have to offer.

    There is a misconception that you have to hire someone to have comfortable conversations with and that they have to be similar to you; the reality is you want people that can plug the holes you are not great at. Ask yourself what your company's core values are and use those as a basis to hire the right candidates. And to those that feel like they aren't ready to hire someone or are scared, Jackie shares that hiring is all about jumping in and learning as you go.

    Key Takeaways:

    • If you think you can do it all and are the only person that can do things for your business that might be the case; however, there might be a better way and you're just not seeing it because you are not open to receiving it. Hiring can add new ideas to your business, diverse way of thinking and new offerings. Ask yourself will you be happy in 5 years? Because if things don't change then they won't change.
    • There is a big difference between someone being a good personality fit and someone being a good fit that has the same core values as your business. You need to get clear on 3 to 5 things your company stands for because you can teach most skills but you can't teach stuff like curiosity and core values that light up your business.
    • Most people don't need to hire an assistant. In your business, think about the things that can be outsourced like social media and hire an expert. Oftentimes hiring an assistant can be more work because they are usually entry level. Start with a part time and delegate to free up time to do the more important things your business might need.

    • "You signed up for this, this is a great problem to have. If you are going to scale your business and be a very successful entrepreneur you have to learn how to hire a team." . - Jackie Koch

  • DBE 045: 3 Types of Enrollment Methods for Launching In Your Business

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution Podcast, Jess discusses 3 types of enrollment methods you can use when launching your program. After helping 100's and 100's of clients over the last couple of years, Jess has tried all of the enrollment types through the course of her own business journey. The reason why this is so important is because once you select your enrollment type you can better determine when and how you are launching. Each of the 3 types of Enrollment: Open Enrollment, Ongoing Enrollment, and Start-Stop Enrollment have their own pros and cons; which Jess goes into details on, so you can determine which is right for you.

    As always, cheers to your evolution!

    Key Takeaways:.

    • Open enrollment means your program or offer is open at any time. With open enrollment you never have to turn clients away, you can welcome people at different parts of their journey which keeps things fresh and there's no cap to how much you can make!
    • Rolling enrollment is best for membership programs or evergreens. You are not marketing that your offer is open but if someone comes to you inquiring about it you can still say yes; however, just like with an open enrollment you are always open which means less room for breaks.
    • Start-stop enrollment or open-close is the most common way of enrollment as it is the most organized and structured. The biggest part of this method is that you get much more time for yourself and the runway. With start-stop enrollment you give yourself more time to scale your business and build your team, but keep in mind it can potentially limit the amount of people you can serve.

    Episode Quotes

    • "But it's also really fun because as you start to see the numbers move all of a sudden the next level becomes a little bit more of a reality." –Jessica DeRose
    • " Humans like community, we like to feel seen, we like to feel part of the village and so with a start stop model you actually create urgency and hype and fomo without having to do that because the human does it." –Jessica DeRose

  • DBE 044: Optimizing Your Life with Brett Eaton

    In this episode of the Digital Business Evolution podcast, Jess sits down with Brett Eaton. Brett Eaton is a life optimization coach, speaker, author, owner and founder of "The Better You Blueprint Coaching Program" and co-host of "The Better You Blueprint" Podcast. This episode is packed to the brim with golden nuggets about equipping yourself to better handle challenges, and what it means to be a high performer. Being a high performer is about holding yourself to a higher standard and being willing to set routines and schedules around it so that you can be your best on a consistent basis.

    Learn today about the landmines that are blowing up your weeks, that you yourself may have set up and how planning just a few days ahead will help prevent these explosions. Brett unpacks his ABC method on confidence and goes into details on how many of us think we will get confidence when we get to a certain destination; but the reality is, confidence comes from action!

    Key Takeaways:

    • Don't forget to bring fulfillment along the journey with you. Implement fulfillment every step of the way and ask yourself: Are you showing up to your job with it? Are you showing up to your relationships with it? Make sure you are chasing your own version of greatness and not what's on social media or anyone else's version because it's got to be a destination you want to get to, not because you feel like you are supposed to be there.
    • Things will come up that we have no control over but these give us opportunities to build resilience for the next time it happens and it also reminds us that we are not as important as we think we are. Different people have different challenges and it's about using the opportunity hidden in these challenges.
    • The biggest difference between a high performer and someone who is not a high performer is that they have a higher expectation of themselves. To be a high performer is to go one more step! With every step you give yourself the belief that it is possible; because ultimately, it comes down to your belief system and the execution.
