Adam aka Art by Row is a freelance mural artist. Adam’s work is inspired by urban graffiti art and hip-hop culture particularly the function of letters in urban space and the impact they have on the viewer. In recent years Adam’s work has adopted fine art techniques with the practice of aerosols from a graffiti style to more hand-painted methods whilst challenging himself to find a blend between the two. Whilst focusing on private commissions, in the last 12 months he’s worked with some larger industry names like YouTube, Hendricks Gin, Perth is Ok, WhiteClaw, Lord of the Fries. He’s managing to be a full-time teacher and balancing his freelance art.

Mario Veloso is a Perth-based Photographer who was born in Angola and raised on the streets of Lisbon, Portugal. Mario discovered photography in his adolescents capturing the youth, culture, and scenes in his neighborhood. 

Mario has collaborated with multiple brands around the globe. Having his work published in magazines such as GQ, HipHoper, and others and working with brands like Hennessy, Dickies, and Champion. Mario specializes in Fashion, and Street Documentary style photography. He’s one of my favorite photographers I know, his ability to connect with people and capture culture and community is like no other. I’m so happy for him to be here today.

In this episode, we’re going to talk about his amazing story and journey from Angola, to Portugal, England then coming to Australia, how he got into photography, his photography style, perspectives on culture, and diversity (or lack of) in Australian marketing/media. Hope you enjoy it.

I met Layne at a local creative movie Premiere. It was “Watch the Word go by” a film by WrightSystems (a local fashion brand) which was an art film showcasing their new clothing and one-off clothing releases. Layne is a multimedia creative studying graphic design. Layne's colourful, playful, creative illustrations and designs caught my eye so she’s on the podcast today. I first saw Wyclef on my Tiktok page. Wyclef posts videos of himself with thought-provoking ideas or statements as a caption. These videos are presented in this casual demeanor which makes them quite humourous, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they make you think. The topics make great points for a discussion ~ perfect for a podcast actually. I then stumbled upon his music, it took me 2 seconds of hearing it to realize this guy has insane talent. I often find the greatest art comes from creations grounded in the philosophies of life. Wyclef music is a synthesis of indie rock and hip hop it’s amazing. In this episode, we talked about mental health, the creative process behind his music, his upcoming projects, and staying true to your art and we talk about his thought-provoking TikToks. Hand-made garments created right from the thread ~ introducing Meg Hill @the_mhill from @_shop.siren

Meg is a Perth-based fashion designer and stylist. With Meg's self-taught knitting skills and knowledge of pattern making, sewing, and garment design that she learned from Tafe, she started her brand Siren just over one year. Meg's garments are knitted on her machine and then hand sewn together, all in her home studio, and she now sells her products online. Meg's branding concepts revolve around Fantasy, Y2K, Bratz, Space, Ethereal mythology/folklore, and metaphysical creations. In this episode we talk about her previous and upcoming collections, where the inspiration for her work comes from, the meaning and history behind the work "Siren", her gap year trip to Japan, having her work shown at Melbourne fashion week, and more! "Designing for Lil Uzi Vert at 17!" - Jock aka @digital.burial is a Perth-based digital artist. Jock primarily creates motion animated 3d renders using applications like Blender. Calvin Liew is the designer behind Rated R Clo, a Perth-based clothing brand, founded in 2018. Rated R focuses on building high-quality, comfortable, versatile garments that last. Rated R’s primary narrative focuses on youth counter-culture which can be seen in the creative direction of the brand. I was really impressed by the material quality of Rated R's latest range. What I love about the Rated R brand is the creative community which the brand is built upon. Rated R was born out of a passion for clothing, sharing ideas with friends, and working on projects with other like-minded people.
