Akele jub kabhi neend nahi aati
Doston ki badi hi yaad hai satati
Kaun jaane base hain kahan kub se
Unhone bhi rabta na kiya humse.
Bikhar gaye sub dost purane
Milte hai ab log anjaane
Kuch dost humare rooth gaye
Duniya ki bheed mein kuch kho gaye.
Kuch duniya chod kar hi chale gaye
Hum apne masailon me ghire rahe
Kahan gaye bachpan ke dost pyaare
Hote the jinpe vaare nyaare.
Masoom dosti bahut hi pyaari
Yahi thi apni duniya sari
Kahan hai Sushi, Sarla aur Sujata
Hamesha nibhate jo apna vaada.
Andhi aaye toofan aaye
Apne saath sada unhein payein
Ab zindagi shayad badal gayi hai
Nayi rahon mein chal padi hai.
Yaadein hi ab reh gayi purani
Inhi ke sahare cut rahi zindgani
Doston se dosti hamesha nibhana
Yehi hai apna asli khazana.
Kabhi na akelapun hoga inke saath
Khoon ke rishton se badhkur hai, in rishton ka ehsaas
Sache dost hai nehmat jo khuda se hum paatein
Gum jaaye kahin yeh to phir guzre zamane nahin aate.
Doston ko rakhna mehfooz ae dost zaroor
Dosti hai Heera aur Dost Kohinoor.
Yeh dil kaise dhadakta hai
Na thamta hai na rukta hai
Har pal dhadakte jaata hai
Na jaane kya kehna chahta hai.
Yeh tootta hai par rukta nahi
Rota hai par thamta nahi
Bade kehte kabhi “dil bada karo”
Wo to lekin baccha hain - uski bhi to kabhi suno.
“Dil ki suno”, “dil se karo”
Yahi sayane kehte hain
Dil to kehta sab kuch
Bas kami sunne mein reh jaati hain.
Dil ye keemti tohfa khuda ka
Mehfooz rakhna farz hamara
Paalan poshan aur saaf swasth rakhna
Yeh bhi hai kartavya hamara.
Aandhi aaye toofan aaye
Is dil pe kabhi aanch na aaye.
Dil jab kisi pe aa jaata hai
Na jaane kya ho jaata hai
Dhadkane tez ho jaati hai
Bechara “overtime” kar jaata hai.
Yeh ruk jaaye to qayamat ho jaaye
Saanso ka silsila ekdam tham jaaye
Barson yuhin ye chalta hai
Isi dhadkan ka naam hi to zindagi hai.
Yeh dil kaise dhadakta hain
Na thamta hai na rukta hain
Na jaane kya kehna chahta hai.
Shaurat ko dhoondte safar mein aage chale gaye zaroor
Peeche mudh ke dekha toh sare rishte reh gaye door.
Na koi saathi na humdum
Shikhar per akele khade hain hum.
Kahan hai woh dost, kahan bhai bandhu
Kahan hai woh khilkhilati hasi
Kahan hai woh beparwaah masti.
In sub ki bali hum dete rahe hur dum
Aur shaurat ke naam pe akele reh gaye hum.
Accha hai kuch raaz tumne
Ab bhi chipaye rakhe hain
Varna ae khuda tumhein
Kaun yaad rakhta.
Koi anhoni jab hoti hai
Mann baichain ho jaata hai
Seene mein hook se uthti hai
Dil dard se karrahta hai
Tum yaad aate ho.
Dharti par jab keher barasta hai
Goliyan seena chhalti hain
Hahakar ki cheekhe uthti hain
Rehem ki sada goonjti hai
Tum yaad aate ho.
Antim saanse jab hoti hain
Apnon se bidaai lete hain
Aankhon se moti girte hain
Aakhri safar ko jab chalte hai
Tum yaad aate ho.
Khushi dhoondne nikle thé hum
Jhowlee mein aaye kayi aansu kuch gum
Khushi dhoondte zindagi bitaayi
Phir bhi khushi haath na aayi.
Khushi kyon humnein na payi?
Kyon hamein khushi raas na aayi?
Phir ek din masoom si awaz yoon aayi
“Kya khushi se mulaqat ho payi??”
Haste haste woh yeh keh gayi
Aur main tub tak samajh na payi
Shiddat se jise dhoondte ho, wohi khushi hoon main
Tumhare har saans mein basi hoon main.
Bahar kahan talashte ho bhai
Mai toh tumhare andar hoon samayi
Apne andar jhank ke dekho
Rub ne beinteha khushiyan basaayi.
Khushi ki talash mein kaynat chaan mari
Nazrein jhukayin seene mein
Dil ke andar usé payi.
Bekhabar is ehsas se thé hum
Khushiyon ke hur pul pass thé hum
Ab umar sari jub beet gayi
Tub humne yeh seekh hai payi.
Close your eyes and see the world beyond
Where peace and tranquility are always found.
Hear the sounds of silence too
The music for the truly true.
A bright light will light the way
To see beyond the “lazy eye”
Stay in there as long as you will
Time for you will then stand still
When you open your eyes slowly
You may then comprehend finally
The mysteries of the world beyond
Where peace and tranquility are always found.
Sunsets crimson in the sky
Telling us of another day gone by
Sunset brings yet daylight tomorrow
Like great joys come from little sorrow.
The clock ticks away its time on the wall
Yet time is timeless of it all
Time is undivided and pace-less
Time is immeasurable and boundless.
Time and tide wait for no man
They both move on since the world began
Racing against time we always are
So much to do and to go so far.
Why are the days just so small?
Why can time not be at our call?
Days gone by are often pleasant
Be they of a prince or a peasant.
The bird of time flies in the sky
It cannot be caged, hard though we may try
It flutters its wings and flies away
To see the light of another day.
Let us then sit upon the banks of the river of time
And watch it flowing
Embracing within us the past with fondness
And the future with all the longing.
Friends, dear friends do not despair
All your sorrows we’d like to share
Would like to wipe the tear off that face
And put a smile on every face.
We know the desert and the raging heat
We know staying there is a great feat
We know Shalaan camp and its plight
We know you have put up a brave fight.
What is happening to you is just not fair
We all know and we all care
Good times will come do not despair
From all of it you will get a fair share.
We understand your anxiety
And promise it’s not for long
Soon it will be a bad dream
Forgotten and gone.
So do not lose hope have courage dear friends
For there will be help and it will be God sent
Friends out there we would like to say
You will not stay that way.
God almighty is very kind
He is always there, just look behind
Do not think you will be left there pining
Think, with every cloud there is a silver lining.
Written during the 1st Gulf war
With heavy hearts we go to war
Wondering why it came this far
Distressed faces, energy zapped
Wondering if every source was tapped.
Is there no stone left unturned?
Have all the efforts been actually spurned?
This is the question on every mind
The answer to which is hard to find.
The world is sad at the outcome today
Chaos and destruction will now come to play
“Scuds” and “patriots” fired in the sky
Panic stricken people shout and cry.
Depression is written everywhere
Tension is filled in the air
Forces fight for what each thinks is right
He will win who has the might.
Innocent peoples’ lives at stake
It will be worse than any earthquake
People keep all night awake
Waiting for their loved ones to return home safe.
Rolling tears from the mother’s eyes
Crying and sobbing of the wives
Children oblivious of the wretched plight
Know not of the complexity of the fight.
What will be the outcome of this bloody war?
But what are we actually fighting for?
Is it the dollar or is it the oil?
Or is it Saddam Hussein’s plot to foil?
Can it be called a Jihad, a holy war?
Or do some self-interests come to the fore?
What is wrong and what is right?
Remains to be seen in the proper light.
Please Mr. Hussein, we plead with you
And Mr. Bush we appeal to you
The world is so beautiful
Do not destroy it.
Come up with a solution and just be done with it
Enough room there is for all to co-exist
Then why with this war do you still persist?
For peaceful solution it is never too late
Change it could the entire world’s fate
The world would rejoice if this hatchet you bury
As great and brave men, then, you will go down in history.
Written during the 2nd Gulf war
A rose will be a rose all its life
Though thorns along its side may thrive
Rose is a symbol of youth and beauty
Kind, gentle, soft and pretty.
Thorns on the side do sometimes hurt
Yet protect the rose for all they are worth
To Aurora and Cupid it is all so sacred
Emblem of beauty and love devoid of hatred.
Bathed in the blood of wounded Venus
The white rose changed its colour since
Undeterred by the worlds callousness
It survives to spread its fragrance.
Pretty petals all so pure
Sad to know how much they endure
Nurture it with care and love
Being more gentle than a dove.
The little bud opens its eyes
Eager to the inviting world
Sometimes blooms and sometimes dies
With its story left untold.
If unloved will wilt away
Disheartened at the world that did not care
And left it just forgotten
All alone to despair.
Thorns may poke fun at the rose
Wanting to hurt it a lot I suppose
But can they reach at the height of the rose?
To destroy its fragrance and its pose.
No one can take it away from this flower
Try what they could in all their power
All alone it can stand
Tall, majestic and stately.
So soft and gentle
And what a beauty
Thus, though the thorns along its side may thrive
Yet a rose will be a rose all its life.
