"Being Simon Thorne, friend and collaborator to Lady Abigail Moran, isn't easy. Yes, being a daring thief does have its charms. But I still haven't convinced Abigail that she loves me, and thievery, for all the romantical writers say of it, is not the way to wealth. Especially if Abigail insists we continuously repair the airship with our ill-gotten gains.
"So when an old friend summons us to his estate and offers us a daring job with a hefty paycheck, we're happy to accept. The mission: use our airship to transport secret cargo halfway across the globe. Oh, and we mustn't forget to take along the witch and her sinister keeper. A witch more beguiling than expected and her keeper - or is that companion? - with secrets darker than one could imagine.
"Alas. Perhaps I have finally bitten off more than I can chew...."

    Brass & Bone
Great listening! The narrator was excellent! Her use of different accents and her ability to convey a wide range of emotions brought the characters to life! The subtle way in which she expressed Simon's 'asides' kept me chuckling throughout. I laughed out loud more than once! :)
    Weak story but wonderful narrator
As a child, I loved to listen to stories narrated by Claire Bloom. Since then, I have rarely heard another actor narrate a story with the same clarity, richness of voice, or diversity of character expression... until now. Amanda Cobb is brilliant, and I look forward to hearing her voice bring more stories to life. How about some of the classics?
    A fun listen
My mom used to read us stories like this, with a different voice for each character. It's still my favorite to find an audio book read like that. It makes it so much more like going on an adventure. Definitely got sucked into the story. Has this narrator done other books?
    outstanding narration!
What did you love best about Brass and Bone?
I'm only a few chapters in, but the narrator's performance really brings the story to life! I'm not usually a fan of romance novels, but am a huge sucker for steampunk-inspired storylines.
    Any additional comments?
Ms. Cobb is a rising star. You can hear a treasure trove of vast theatrical experience in her performance.
    Average story, but read beautifully.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This book was a nice escape on my daily commute to work. A little bit of a bore at times, but pleasant on the whole.
What about Amanda Cobbs performance did you like?
The narrator brought a lot of depth to the characters, and I dare say, made them more interesting. I'm not sure if I would have finished this book had I been reading it on my own. The narrator saved this one.

It wasn't that she feared death. She just despised losing.
Genetically engineered warrior Sephti would go to any lengths to destroy the fae that made her their killing machine. Finally escaping servitude, she has meticulously planned revenge against her former masters, and time is running out. The last thing she needs is to be taken captive by a man who hates the fae as much as she does - and thinks she's one of them.
Sephti learns her captor is Koda, an ancient Native American guardian determined to save his people from annihilation by the fae. Though he seems to loathe everything about Sephti, she can't help but notice his incredible strength and powerful sensual allure.
As their distrust turns to desire, Sephti and Koda become allies. Their love will have to withstand their enemies' supernatural onslaught - and Sephti's planned suicide mission against the fae.

    hopeful but disappointed
I thought the premise of a fay genetic creature bent on vengeance interesting. For the first chapter it held together. It was downhill after that. Just a mixed up jumble of myths, stories, and stereotypes. Our heroine steals away from Fay, then holes up in a series of motels, learns English from TV, though she cannot read or write, knows a lot but somehow does not know what a fork is? (I am sure I have seen people eat on tv) speaks perfect English, except when she can't, is a terrific fighter, except when she is not, etc. Our hero is a 2 dimensional Native American, with mythic powers who has trouble with his feelings. His vocabulary is peppered with (helpfully translated) "indian"language. Other characters pop in and out ( to help drag out this tediously long narrative.) Lots of fight scenes, a little nooky. Needed a good editor to straighten out the storyline. I could go on, but this mess helped me get to sleep for several nights.
    and Siobhan is pronounced Sheh-Van.
    Loved it!
Sephti and Koda, as presented in this unique narrative, are two of my favorite characters in urban fantasy. This unique novel requires the listener's full attention to nuances and should not be skimmed. I have listened to it more than once and each time become more fascinated with Ms. Paige's original concept. What a refreshing change from the formulaic works now in mass production!
More Elisa Paige, please, with Felicity Munroe as the narrator. Narration is almost as important as content in audible presentations and Felicity nailed it with this one.

    Ms. Sharpe does it again
Would you listen to Cat's Tale: A Fairy Tale Retold again? Why?
I'd definitely listen to this again. As with her other writings, Bettie Sharpe's lyrical prose is beautiful to listen/read to and tells a poignant story. There's nothing as satisfying as a well-told fairy tale! The narrator fit Cat's voice very well.

    AWESOME
I haven't enjoyed a book as much in a long time.
It's a light SF book with not a lot of scientific background but it is a very enjoyable book. What makes it enjoyable is the romance without detailed porn-like sex. This is a sci-fi romance that can be enjoyed by all ages. I loved the plot.

    Time Well Spent!
    Really good read!
It seemed to jump right into the very interesting story which at first left me with lots of questions. But the back story was well woven into the plot and all of my questions were ultimately answered and everything came together as the story progressed. It is a wonderful love story with interesting characters. At times the dialogue seemed somewhat predictable but I almost feel saying that is being way too picky. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the only thing that disappointed me was the ending which left lots of opportunity for a second book. There WILL be a second book - won't there???
Even at 13+ hours it went quickly - I hated to put it down to go to bed. The narrator also did an excellent.job. I highly recommend this book - it's definitly worthy of a credit!
Hmm ... and now that I'm rereading my review - I think I'll just go listen to it again :)
    Stealing time steals your time
I really liked this book. It was very hard to put it down. The narration was very good too. This is a vampire book that show a group of vampires that struggles to maintain a piece of their humanity against the nature of the Vampire. They struggle against a set of Vampires who decide that humans are just cattle and they are going to rule the world. Yes this is a theme you see alot, but Ms. Paige has some interesting twists through out the book. I was amazed that this was her first book. Cannot wait for her next book.
Not All Vampire Books Are Created Equal...
I am not comparing this to any serious literature, but to a number of other vampire books and series that I have listened to and also read.
This book is so tame, and so mild as to have my eyes rolling at words like "carnal caress" and "butt" and "undies". I'm sorry, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with using the term "nipple", is there?
But, beyond the lack-of-lust wording are some things like the main character, Evie, seeming to think being a vampire and being linked forever to another vampire, James, is just fine,(he is, afterall, gorgeous) but god forbid she think of actually marrying him!
And if those two don't stop with the blushing...! What's with all the blushing?
And Evie certainly adapts with grace and aplomb, quickly and easily to first having a terminal illness, then being in a critical car accident, almost dying, and then being transformed into a vampire.
Maybe this is meant as a vampire story for teens.
    Couldn't Finish
I almost made it through half the book and couldn't listen anymore. I kept listening and hoping it would get better but finally gave up. Didn't enjoy at all.

    Publisher: Carina Press

    Publisher's Summary:
When Delia Forrest talks to statues, they talk back. She is, after all, the last of the Steward witches.
After an arsonist torches her ancestral home with her estranged father still inside, Delia is forced to sell the estate to pay his medical bills. Her childhood crush, Grant Wolverton, makes a handsome offer for Steward House, vowing to return it to its former glory. Delia agrees, as long as he'll allow her to oversee the restoration.
Working so closely with Grant, Delia finds it difficult to hide her unique talent - especially when their growing passion fuels her abilities. But someone else lusts after both her man and the raw power contained in the Steward land. Soon Delia finds herself fighting not just for Grant's love, but for both their lives....
    Members Reviews:
Very well written and the narrator was great!
I really enjoyed this book. It never dragged and I enjoyed the narrator. The love scenes were vivid but not tacky and there was an actual story line that had twists and turns.
This is for sure worth the $$ or the credit.
    Not what I expected
Two stars for the book and the narrator gets a lump of coal. Watson Heinz is not the narrator, but Katie [unintelligible] is named at the start of the book.
With the exception of a few poignant, very nicely executed scenes between Delia and her estranged father, the book's are-you-serious factor is off the charts. I can run with a fantasy as well as anyone, but I need a little more believability and cohesiveness than I found here. There are omniscient stone statues who can walk and talk and have sex. There's a good witch and a creepy, evil, zombie-like witch.
I guess I could have gone with those things (IF the narrator hadn't sounded like Miss Margaret reading to pre-schoolers) if the romance weren't an 80s style throwback. And here's where the book ultimately failed for me. Grant is an unwelcome blast from the past: the wealthy, smug, patronizing savior. Grant decides he'll marry Delia even though he believes that she is a thief and a lunatic. Why? Because she's adorable, the sex is hot, and she needs a big alpha man to take care of her feisty, ditzy self. This Big Mis dragged on far too long, right up to the end with a predictable magical fix
Stevens has no small degree of talent. She writes evocative, sexy love scenes. POV passages from Delia (who is not the ditz everyone believes she is) are strong and the very best of the book. What brought it down for me is the choppy editing, mishmash factor, and the unheroic hero.
The narrator's delivery is bizarre. Odd pauses, as if she just turned the page and was surprised to find more words there. The pre-school teacher tone which, by the way, SO does not work when reading sex scenes. And did I mention emo overacting?
Didn't rock my world but I liked it!
This was a cute book...some of the scenes were H-O-T, but the concept read more like a young adult novel with R rated sex scenes, and the characters were older. There is a touch of the magical, a touch of the romance, and a touch of the hot scenes I like so much, so over all it was a cute book, glad I read it, but nothing earh shattering.
    Boring!!
Could not get into this book. Listened for couple hours and just had to give up. Wasted my credit on this one.

    This series had potential
What did you like best about Amethyst Bound? What did you like least?
I liked the set up and lead character's attitude.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It would be more enjoyable if there were actually more books in the series
Which character as performed by Maia Guest was your favorite?
    I loved Toni
    Any additional comments?
This was a very interesting story. It appears to be the first book in a series. Sadly it seems the author dropped the series as there have been new books in a few years. I hate that!
I really liked Toni and found her to be a fun strong female character. She was a touch insecure but had her reasons.
I liked Ben but wished he were a touch more Alpha at times. He was also just a bit more judgmental than I would have liked.
This book really sets up a possible series with the other Dragons and the main characters quest to locate them. Too bad it appears we will never know what the author intended.
A nice spot of steam with a touch of kink, is it a three way if two characters in habit the same body?
    great story
thief who gets caught with her booty or by her booty to find herself in a mystical world that she never knew about --first book in a series have written to the author myself and told her how much I liked her story she is currently working on the next book and not to worry now that I have reached her I am gonna hound her for the next that should tell you how much I like the story
