A great read
It's a great book for some readers and a memorable story with amazingly developed characters. Though some things need more explaining like how hagsfiends can actually assist though in reality their origin of being animal fuisions is physically impossible rendering these species defunct also how did the humans or 'others' go extinct? Anyways it's a great book for an even greater price.
Okay, but not that awesome.
So first, let me tell you, I love all of Lasky's books. I totally recommend this series and wolves of the beyond.
WARNING: there WILL be spoilers in the next part!!!!!
Okay. First, I think it was a little confusing. I mean, these owls think a lot like humans. I understand that's how Lasky rolls, though. But I didn't like it that Lutta died. She and Hoole would have been so much better. Another thing, I think the book overall was a little slow and hard to get into, but I still really liked it. I think Lasky focuses mostly on emphasizing how great one character is and doesn't pay attention to many of the others, especially in Horses Of The Dawn. Not that that's a bad thing.
Love Lasky.
I love all of these books and would totally encourage everyone to read them. (I'd also recommend the Warrior Cats!) I like how they don't always end up like peachy and cheesy and everyone is just happy, no pain at all, not that I LIKE pain. Definantly a series for animal lovers. Thanks, Me.
Five Stars
A great book series for our 5th grader
Not dumbed-down for kids
This series of books was one reason why my 9 year old son wanted to become a better reader. We have been reading been reading through the series together (my son reading to me). These books are smart and well written. I found them much better than the Rick Riordan series which my kids loved but I found tedious to read to them.
I gave this Kathryn Lasky series 4 stars because of the serious way she treats the subjects of virtue and family connection. There is some violence in these books but its not gratuitous. Through the main characters readers learn that maintaining freedom has some personal cost and it means confronting evil.
Awesome
