Great Read
I am hooked on this series.
The author was in a hurry to finish this one.
Not his best effort- character development rushed, story was short and contrived.
Four Stars
good series
Pretty good, worth the read.
I was on the fence about whether to rate 3 stars or 4 stars. I've read the first three books in this series and will read the fourth (thanks, Kindle Unlimited!). They're pretty good overall. I'd say the only negatives are the editing and continuity problems that show up here and there throughout all three books. For example, in this book there's a scene early on where Ritter and Davis are in his apartment and he gets a call. He tells her to stay in the apartment and he leaves. Then the next scene has both him and her in it. Some of the fight choreography doesn't really work, either. I hate to be one of those people that picks on a book for editing and continuity but it distracts from the action and the flow for me. All in all I like the series, I like the concept, I like the characters. I like that the characters are not perfect and I like the way the author doesn't shy away from addressing the moral conflicts a person would have when faced with the situations the characters face in the books. I will admit to not buying into some of the life or death situations in the books because knowing there are 4 books told me Ritter wouldn't die in earlier books no matter how bad the situations got. In the end, I'll read #4 and would not turn away from others if they get written. That is, unless Ritter dies in #4. ;)
Die Hard meets James Bond
Great addition to the series. This standalone sequel really ramps up the action without sacrificing the realism and wit of the first book. Just like Into Darkness, you finish the tale still unsure just who is the "good guy." That said, I can't give this five stars because it feels too short. The much-hyped climatic ending, where all these divergent plot-lines slam together, was just kind of stumbled into, in my opinion.
All in all, a fun, non-formulaic twist on the "rogue nuke" genre. Definitely worth the read.
(As is standard practice in the publishing industry, I received an advanced review copy of this book.)
