    yuck
Stay far away unless you LOVE gore. I don't. I adore horror, this isn't it. Just vile.
Chilling, ghastly & yet has humorous moments.
First time reading Shaw's work. slightly predictable in the hunting scenarios, but still chilling. Especially the victim roll call". Ghastly, comes to mind.
I had to laugh at the family banter. Four brothers and two sons all too easily helped me to imagine the discourse. Enjoyed it in audio more than I expected I would. Mr. Seager, well done, Sir.
Over the top without enough substance
I enjoyed the narrator. The story took a bit to get off the ground and I didn't feel like there was an actual conclusion. It's also a bit too graphic for me. I like true crime and murder mysteries, but sections in this just seemed over the top. I won't be listening to it again nor recommending it to friends.
    Very interesting
it took a while for the main problem to come up other than that this was a great book
This family has the worst vacation ever!
Would you consider the audio edition of Into the Woods to be better than the print version?
I don't have the print version. I like to listen to the audible version while driving. Narration was excellent.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked the father. He wanted to give his family a nice vacation even though he couldn't afford a fancy hotel or travel abroad.
Have you listened to any of Julian Seagers other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first, but it won't be my last. Jules does an excellent job!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were some funny parts early on. Some of the language was a bit strong, The last few chapters were disturbing, but that makes for a good thriller.
    Any additional comments?
I kept thinking why don't they just ask for directions when their GPS wasn't working and they didn't have a map. But that would have made for a very different story.

    Great story!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yeah. Anyone who enjoys paranormal and audio would probably love this book. It's very entertaining.
What other book might you compare Jezebel, Daughter of Darkness to and why?
I always hate comparing. I'm not sure it really reminded me of anything else I've read but a few books that are similar genre that I also enjoy are Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series, almost anything by A.L. Kessler and of course anything by the author Kristen Middleton.
What about Nina Sumters performance did you like?
I love her voice! She's clear and has a wide range of voices and expression making anything she narrates wonderful.
Who was the most memorable character of Jezebel, Daughter of Darkness and why?
    Jezebel. She's a vampire/succubus and a P.I. who's uniquely talented at her job. She's tough and intelligent.
    Any additional comments?
I totally enjoyed the entertainment value in this story. It's a short read that flows easy and can be listened to in one sitting. The storyline is unique and fun.
    Sexy, sometimes silly fun
Would you recommend Jezebel, Daughter of Darkness to your friends? Why or why not?
Sure. It actually reminded me a little of Lost Girl. I liked the idea of a succubus trying to help humans with their issues. I'm interested in the upcoming parts as well.
Which character as performed by Nina Sumter was your favorite?
Alex :P I always love her flamboyant male characters.
    Any additional comments?
This was a fun story. I liked the premise, though honestly, I was more interested in Jezebel helping the humans with their problems than I was with all of the paranormal creatures and Jezebel's family. I did find the fantastical creatures interesting, especially the BEK. The comment about them sounding like the name of a band was also pretty funny.
Some things were silly and cliche, like, "Vlad is your father!" I laughed. I also saw the twist at the end coming.
I love the effort Nina puts into all of her characters, especially the accents. I found all of the characters to be believable.
    Vampires in las vegas
So much happened in this book that your interest never wanders. I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read the next book.

    Book 2
What was one of the most memorable moments of Transformation?
This is a good follow up book from Book 1. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I'm hoping it will be more interesting
    Strange
One if the strangest zombie stories yet. Good writing but a weird story. Not sure if I want to read book three.
    Not for me.
Having not liked book one because of the that the book was, what felt like for me anyway, one long rant, debasing and derogatory story about fat people, gays, women, blacks and anything else they could find, I hesitated to start this. I had it for review so said I'd give it a chance though in hopes it got better and had less hatred in it, but sadly, it wasn't so. I got to 24% and had to put it down. I couldn't listen to any more slurs etc and honestly could't care less about any of the characters. It's a DNF for me.
The only redeeming quality is the narrator. He did a great job again, giving everyone their own tone. I just wished I liked the story enough to continue.
    WOW
This book had me guessing the whole time. The characters were that same but some showed their true side. In a good way or bad.
    the good doesn't always win....
I am a big fan of apocalyptic books including zombie books. I love how this one is different than most. I like how in real life the good guy doesn't always win.

    Members Reviews:
    First rate psychological thriller
What made the experience of listening to Closet Treats the most enjoyable?
Being able to just sit back with my eyes closed and just "watch" the story unfold in my head complete. Being that I'm a slow reader, this is more efficient and allows for a more connected experience vs reading a little here and a little more a few days later.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, it has a slow burn quality to it by introducing subtle doubts about what is actually happening (don't want to go further to avoid spoilers).
    Which scene was your favorite?
So hard to choose, but I would have to say the plot twist at very end of story (you'll have to read to find out)
If you could rename Closet Treats, what would you call it?
I'm terrible with titles, but here goes, Ice Cream "Man"?
    Any additional comments?
Despite loving his latest offering in The Black series, I still think this is my favorite of Paul Cooley's tales.
    Excelent horror novel
A very well delivered horror novel, gripping and creepy as hell. Good pace, story and characters. Looking forward to read other novels from this author!
There really are monsters in the closet.
Trey sees things sometimes. He has little blanks in time. There seems to be tears in his reality that are getting larger and wearing very thin. All with a Scooby Doo soundtrack and a triple scoop of Yum Yum ice cream. The pills help. Not enough. I think the crazy may be winning. Or are the monsters in the closet real?
I really enjoyed this one from Mr. Cooley. It had the creepy factor in spades and there were some genuine goose bump moments in here. I really felt Treys struggle with keeping it together as his episodes increased in intensity and frequency. The narration for this one was also stellar. The cadence and tone were spot on and really added to the overall ambiance of the story. Very well done all around.
*I received a copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.
    Disturbing
If you could sum up Closet Treats in three words, what would they be?
    Creepy and creepy.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The story did not go where I expected it to go.
    Any additional comments?
Excellent narration of a story far more outside of my comfort zone than I expected.
    Average
A horror stort, it is slow, very slow and it is disappointing most of the way tgrough. The author did a good job with ghe stiry line, the chsracters, the building of suspenwea. He outsmarted me, it did motgothe way I thought it would. Not gory or yucky. and a book I will not forget

    SUPER GOOD STORY!
What did you love best about Survival?
I love this genre and Sarah and Dana are strong women...
What was one of the most memorable moments of Survival?
    The Rescue...Sarah was bad ass!!!
What about Lisa L. Wileys performance did you like?
She was perfect..I quite enjoyed her narration!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    The apology at the end!
    Any additional comments?

Sarah and Dana are twin sisters and find themselves kidnapped in the middle of the fresh outbreak of a zombie apocalypse! Sarah escapes and comes back with Meredith a work associate to rescue her..Sarah kicks some major butt and Dana and her escape and rescue some others on the way to a safe place....super cool story and I cant wait for #2!!!
Roller coaster trip through Zombie land
Swift moving chapter in a series format. I enjoyed this horror tale but would have liked to know the beginning, onslaught of the Zombie crisis. This first chapter started already in the grip of the deadly creatures roaming and ruling the city. Hopefully the subsequent chapters will go back to explain the HOW and WHY.
The story is nicely developing the group of characters, the survivors. I am looking forward to the next episode.
The narrator did a good job with the different characters' voices and personalities.
    Zombies In Ft. Worth!
If you could sum up Survival in three words, what would they be?
Way to short. That's probably not what Audible had in mind when they came up with the question, but they sum it up for me. The story was just starting to get really good and engrossing and BAM, I'm hearing "we hope you've enjoyed...." signaling the end of the book. There are many topics that, of course, have been left hanging and I'm sure that was the authors plan all along. I hope the next book in the series is an actual book and not another novella. Since this first one is so short, I'd also like to see the next book start with the novella and then just keep going. Although it was really good, there wasn't enough to it to really imprint on my brain.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Survival?
Probably when Sarah returns to the warehouse and rescues her sister
Have you listened to any of Lisa L. Wileys other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first listen with Ms.

The (literally)explosive conclusion to the trilogy
If you could sum up Metal and Ash in three words, what would they be?
    Non Stop Thrills
What did you like best about this story?
This story took the two very different books that came before it and brought them together in extremely satisfying ways.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Without spoiling anything... there was a moment of glorious redemption that was deeply satisfying.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Again a difficult answer to make without spoilers. As invested as I was in all the characters I had learned to love, hate, or hate/love in the first two books, there were resolutions to their stories that were both uplifting and tragic.
    Any additional comments?
A wonderful end to a trilogy I enjoyed very much both in reading them and then in listening to the audio books.
    Average story this time
Probably because I didn't keep up with all of the side stories. Towards the end is was good but it was not easy to follow throughout. I would recommend that if you decide to read this book we read the first two very shortly after that I read this so you understand what each character is supposed to be done in this book.
    Wow again!
What did you love best about Metal and Ash?
I must say the pace of the book is great and the suspense was fantastic.
Who was your favorite character and why?
That Mr Stone, he is one tough guy. I love the way he just does his thing no matter anyone else's needs.
Have you listened to any of Julie Hoversons other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to the other Apex series books and this one is just as fantastic! She is really talented and brings this book to life.
If you could rename Metal and Ash, what would you call it?
Chrome and Guts, since it is the two items I saw most vividly in my mind's eye.
    Any additional comments?
Jake Bible is really fun to listen to and the pace of this book really kept me on the edge. The story is also well rounded and does not leave a lot of unanswered questions at the end, which I appreciate. And the characters are just so diverse and well written for the book.

    Publisher's Summary:
"Whisper Mountain is the lair of the beast," say the frightened mountain elves. "Beware the Shadow Demon, for it will hunt you down and eat you alive."
Hal and his friends weren't looking for another adventure, but this was a mission they couldn't ignore.
Whisper Mountain gets its name from the frequent cries of ghosts echoing down its slopes, the souls of victims who have run afoul of the demon. Who in their right mind would venture into the deserted elfin temple? But, according to a crazy old soothsayer, the mountain is the "key to everything".
Miss Simone agrees that the mountain is worth investigating but has more immediate problems to deal with: a squad of soldiers from Hal's old world has been spotted coming through the "hole" in the labyrinth. Will this lead to a friendly integration of virus survivors or an industrialized, technologically advanced human invasion that threatens the land forever?
The shapeshifters set off to the mountain, hoping all this talk of demons and ghosts is just superstitious nonsense. What they find there surprises everybody....

Another Great Adventure with Hal & Friends
Would you consider the audio edition of Mountain of Whispers to be better than the print version?
Yes, I love the audio edition because Fred Wolinsky does such a great job of narrating these tales. This story presented interesting challenges to him because of some of the unusual voices and languages he had to perfect.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed how this story led the shapeshifter children to meet and interact with their "monster" non-human side.
Which character as performed by Fred Wolinsky was your favorite?
My favorite is still Miss Simone! Wolinsky's voice sounds both smooth and sleek with just the right amount of non-human qualities.
If you could take any character from Mountain of Whispers out to dinner, who would it be and why?
It would have to be Miss Simone. I would love to hear her tales about her life in the early days before the shapshifter program began.
    Any additional comments?
I recommend this book to teens and adults who enjoy an entertaining story.

    Definitely listen in the dark
    Any additional comments?
**I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.**
The intro suggests reading at night, alone, in the dark. I thought I had the perfect setting: my porch, under the moonlight, just before the storm. While it was a good setting, it wasnt the perfect one. My suggestion: camping.
Having just spend a few nights in the middle of nowhere with my family, I kept thinking about them while listening. The perfect campfire, my love, my three teenage kids (one with his girlfriend), owls hooting, coyotes howling across the lake, and every single person begging for scary stories. That would have been the perfect time to break out the speakers and listen to the creepy low tones of Mr. Bennetts voice.
The stories combined with the perfect narrator for these kinds of stories are not quite scary enough while youre sitting close enough to the comforts of home. But listen to them while youre in the middle of nowhere without your own walls to keep out the creepers (maybe driving down a long highway at night where all you can see is what your headlights illuminate) and you might get just the right amount of tingle dripping down your spine.
Now, I cant wait to go camping again with my family and see what they think about these stories.
I agree with some reviewers that the spooky factor could be dialed up a bit for most of us. But the writing is solid and Mr. Bennett is a fantastic choice for the narration.
    Meh...
Great narrator but I was only impressed by 1 story and even it ended on a "huh?" note...
    Slivers in the Dark review
Would you consider the audio edition of Slivers in the Dark: A Journey of Horror into Night's Scariest Places to be better than the print version?
Unsure, since I've never read the print version.
What other book might you compare Slivers in the Dark: A Journey of Horror into Night's Scariest Places to and why?
    None.
What does J. Scott Bennett bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
A unique voice to the narrative and characters.
    Any additional comments?
A really unique short story collection.
    Four fun short horror stories
    My rating: 3.5 stars
Audiobook narrator J. Scott Bennett rating: 4.5 stars
This was a fun collection of four short horror stories with varying levels of disturbing-ness. I really like the preface in which the author gives some advice on how to best handle these stories and the side effects in which you may encounter. There were a few spots of comic relief like that.
Of the four stories, I think I found the third one the most interesting and fun to listen to.

    Awesome
Can't wait for the sequel this book was awesome love love loved it great listen
Interesting story but less than average narration
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Overall the story is interesting, but I am not a big fan of the narrator. He makes a great effort but is rather mono tone. I did like the occasional sound effect that was thrown in as it made for something different.
How could the performance have been better?
I think with a different narrator the overall could have been a solid 4 star book.
    Any additional comments?
    ******SPOILERS FOLLOW************
First let me say that I have read a lot of books in this genre and a lot of people in these books are HOOAH kill them all Army/Marine infantry type heros who ALWAYS seem to make the right decision so it makes this book hard to listen to because they keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again. I would like to believe that the average man/woman would learn from blunders that get others killed. Paul is looked to as the "leader" of the group and accepts the responsibility for the deaths of those around him but doesn't seem to learn lessons and apply them to his current situation. When his wife is killed his inability to function is completely understandable and his downward spiral is hard to watch. All that being said that is what I like about the book because it is very different from most other books of this type. If you are looking for a good book I would recommend you buy this in print and read it instead of getting the audio book, but I would say that if you can get past the narration it is a good story and I will be getting the next book in this series just because I want to know what happens next.
    almost as good
I brought his other book's because I enjoyed floodwater so much but I did not like this as much.
    Good Zombie story.
No ending just drops off. That's a good sales pitch for the next book I guess. lol. Not bad overall. I've read better and much much worse. Take a chance you might like it.
Not at the top of its class
All the things that plague this genre are part of this book. Poor writing skill, poor story line, lots of gratuitous explicit sex, comic book style dialog.
    Do not waste your time.
