Not a beginner book as advertised
Not for beginning readers. All of these in this series are not for beginning readers. Has long sentences and contractions, neither of which are for beginning readers. The stories are cute amd my kids like the pictures, but not really edited for beginning readers as advertised. I bought 4 of the Ree Drummond beginner reader books and not one is for a true beginner

Thrills, spills, and cheating death are just part of an average day on a not-so-average summer vacation for these two smarty-pants siblings. Coke and Pepsi McDonald are still stuck on the wacky family road trip that began in Mission Unstoppable, and now a brand-new evil mastermind is trying to kill them!
Coke and Pepsi McDonald never asked to be geniuses. They never asked to get lowered into a basket of boiling french fries, either. And they certainly never asked to be frozen in soft-serve ice cream, stampeded in a wild stadium riot, or kidnapped on a high-speed roller coaster. But that's what happens when a red-haired villain named Archie Clone is chasing you across America. This just might be the most dangerous road trip in history - and the most awesome!
Want to join in the fun? Fire up the old Google Maps and follow the McDonald twins as they get chased from the National Mustard Museum to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And whatever you do - never say genius.

    "Eat the soup!"
The Adventures of Bob is a hit with our grandchildren! They are delighted with the antics of Bongo, the soup-swilling, donut-devouring, interplanetary cat and the dilemmas poor Bob faces. This book sits at the top of their bedtime storybook stack. I recommend Mr. Shea's book to families seeking giggles at bedtime!
Take the Adventure...but make sure to....Eat the soup!
The Adventures of Bob to Doodledip for Soup is a must have in every classroom! It's a great example of dialog, expression, characterization, and cause and effect! It's a wonderful read aloud to youngsters, as well as pre-tweens, and even has a test created in the Accelerated Reader system. As a parent, as well as a teacher, I look for books for my own kids that they will be interested going back and looking at, on their own, again and again. The Adventures of Bob does just this! They even act out calling each other on the phone from across the table, spitting out that horrible soup, and pretending to eat all the donuts! They also get a kick out of watching the YouTube videos, which keep the story going! My kids ask...."is Bongo really real, mom?!" Of course he is...so don't forget to eat the soup!
    Great read for reluctant readers
As a teacher, the ultimate test for any book is does it appeal to my reluctant readers? The answer to that question is, yes, The Adventures of Bob to Doodledip for Soup absolutely does! I mean really, what kid doesn't love the idea of traveling to space in a high speed rocket? The illustrations are bright and engaging and fit the story perfectly. This is a great transition book for moving from picture books to chapter books. Not only do my students love it, but my 7 year old absolutely is crazy for the Space Cat, Bongo who causes nothing but trouble for the main character. He has been begging for a space cat ever since he first read the book. I will read him the book as many times as he asks, but I am definitely drawing the line - we are not getting a space cat!
My kids can't get enough of Bongo and Bob!!!!
My Son (Age 7) and Daughter (Age 4) absolutely love this book. The story is funny, exciting, and appeals to their imagination. I often hear them when they play, pretending to take a trip to Doodledip. I find drawings of Bongo in their notebooks. I am excited that this great story is now available for my Kindle. With my Kindle App on my phone, it will always be available to entertain my kiddos.
The author has also made some hilarious YouTube videos staring himself as Bob. It is challenging living with a mischievous space cat and my kids love to watch him interact with Bongo. Just do a search on YouTube for Bongo the space cat.
    Eat the soup!
I admit at first I was a little leery about getting The adventures of Bob to Doodledip for Soup. Crazy purple and green animals, a robot named Frank(but you can call him Joe) where was this book going? After reading it, WOW! my family loves it. We also follow Bongo and Bob's adventures on youtube.

Title: We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea
Subtitle: Swallows and Amazons Series, Book 7
    Author: Arthur Ransome
    Narrator: Gareth Armstrong
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 4 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-09-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 5 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7
    Publisher's Summary:
For anyone who loves sailing and adventure, Arthur Ransome's classic Swallows and Amazons series stands alone. Originally published over a half-century ago, the 12 books are still eagerly read by children and adults alike - by all those captivated by the world of adventure and imagination. Such longevity is not only due to Ransomes unparalleled gift of storytelling, but also his championing of qualities such as independence and initiative; virtues that appeal to every generation, whether young or old.
In this latest adventure, the Walker family goes to Harwich to wait for Commander Walker's return. As usual, the children can't stay away from boats, and this time they meet young Jim Brading, skipper of the well-found sloop Goblin. But fun turns to high drama when the anchor drags, and the four young sailors find themselves drifting out to sea - sweeping across to Holland in the midst of a full gale!
Arthur Ransome was a prolific writer of children's books. Born in Leeds in 1884, it was his father, a nature-loving history professor, who inspired his love of the outdoors and nurtured a passion for fishing. As a child he enjoyed active, outdoor holidays: sailing, camping and exploring the countryside. He used many of these holiday settings for his children's stories, notably the much-loved Swallows and Amazons, a book that sits comfortably in the category of timeless classic. In 1936 he won the first ever Carnegie Medal for the sixth book in the Swallows and Amazons series, Pigeon Post.
    Critic Reviews:
    Enchanting and escapist (Sunday Express)
There is plenty of excitement, a little danger, a quality of thinking, planning and fun which is delightful and stimulating (Times Literary Supplement)
Thrilling not only to young readers fond of the sea, but also to older readers who remember how they enjoyed sea stories when they themselves were young (The Scotsman)
All the thrills of Treasure Island and Robinson Crusoe" (Daily Telegraph)
    Absolutely fantastic (Daily Express)
    Members Reviews:
The Swallows can do it on there own.
This story suddenly puts John and Rogers in the foreground and they thrive on it. The strong, safe and down to earth Susan shows her emotionally side in a way that 'that can't be Susan'. Titty takes more of a less part in this one almost as though A.R. felt he needed to push the others. Nice That is just the Swallows in this book.
    A great adventure story
Although this is a children's story, I enjoyed it immensely as an adult of advanced years! As a child I loved all the Arthur Ransome books. Returning to this book after many, many years - I still found it a great story. It is full of adventure, suspense and, of course, has a happy ending. The children in this story were not tied to mobile phones and computers (which hadn't been invented then) - they were out and about enjoying what life had to offer and learning useful skills in the process.
Basically the four Walker children were in a yacht, waiting for the owner to return and take them off sailing. However fog came down and the yacht started drifting. Before they knew it they were out at sea on their own. They had all sorts of harrowing problems but eventually arrived safely in Holland. A heart-warming yarn.
Lovely reading of a fabulous book
My favourite of all the Swallows and Amazons books, beautifully and gently read.

    Publisher's Summary:
A breathtaking audiobook by award-winning author Ari Berk about a young bat setting off into the world using only his good sense! Sense is the song you sing out into the world, and the song the world sings back to you. With these words, Chiro's mother sends him off into the night for the first time alone. It's an adventure, but how will he find his way? And how will he find his way home? As the young bat discovers, navigating the world around him is easy as long as he uses his good sense. This beautiful and touching coming-of-age story, with lyrical text from Ari Berk, conveys a heartwarming and universal message: No matter how far away you go, you can always find your way home.

A poetic diversion for your budding chiropterologist
My son, aged 3, looooves this book. He is very interested in bats, so our librarian recommended this gem in addition to some non-fiction titles. We checked it out so often that we ended buying a copy. I also adore this book. The language is stirring and evocative, and the illustrations are perfectly paired with the text. It's rare that a picture book is this lush and atmospheric without being creepy. It helps that the baby bat, Chiro, has a darling little pot belly.
The premise/plot of the book, from which the title is derived, is this: Chiro (like chiro-ptera, get it?) is afraid to leave the cave on his own, because it's dark and he can't see well. His mother tells him to use his voice to "sing" out to the world, and the world will "sing" back. Sure enough, he is able to find his way by listening to the "songs" of the objects and animals in his flightpath, and he grows more confident. After finding all the bugs he can eat, he explores until night ends and it's time to return to the cave. The text never uses the term "echolocation", but the principle is clearly and beautifully described.
This is a gorgeous book! My son and I discovered it shortly after he turned three, but I'd recommend it for any child who enjoys picture books. Also good for growing readers as there is a varied and moderately difficult vocabulary.
    Wonderful illustrations
The illustrations in this book were wonderful! The story was very sweet and I loved how it showed a glimpse of a bat's life while still being a cute, sweet story and not a text book reading. I found it a great starting place for learning about bats. After reading it, my children, 4 and 6, asked questions about bats which we went to the internet and found as much information as they wanted. All and all I would recommend this book as a wonderful collection to your childrens' library.
    Very Pretty
This is such a cute book with a great message. The illustrations are beautiful. I get this book for all my nieces, nephews, or any kiddos in my life.
A little bat whose afraid of the dark.
Itâs Chiroâs first day out on his own, and to be honest, the little bat is a little afraid of the dark. When he tells his mother that itâs dark outside and that he canât always see, his mother answers him back that âThere are other ways to see, other ways to help you make your way in the worldâ.
If you're not familiar with Ari Berk I can best describe him by calling him a Magician poet. His simple words have complex and deep meanings that both child and parent can benefit from.
