    Mediocre
The story is ok, nothing remarkable or special, until the end, where the final fight is played out so clunkily that it makes no sense. The performance is subpar, with a range of emotions so small that all of the characters seem to be exactly the same when the writing implies otherwise.

    I like this book
I love everything about this book and it's narrative. I read it before and listen to it twice. I think a lot of people should read or listen to this book, whether they are gay or not, and than ask themselves, "Is being gay a choice?". Who in their right mind will choose to be gay? Being gay isn't a chose.

    Good read
Not sure I exactly liked the end, but my preference is not everyone's. Very well written. And followed through with the storyline and character behaviors throughout.
    Horrible ending
He book was going okay until it started going off on twenty different plot lines. It felt like at one point the author was going to lead into Gabriel's story and then it just took a whole different turn. The ENDING SUCKS!!!!! It's and open ending and really cheesy. I was very disappointed. I will not buy any books by this author again!
    love
this series is among my favorites. I love the characters, settings and situations. it's a great read.

    Publisher's Summary:
With the defeat of the evil Douglas behind him, Sam LaCroix is getting used to his new life. Okay, so he hadnt exactly planned on being a powerful necromancer with a seat on the local magical council and a capricious werewolf sort-of-girlfriend, but things are going fine, right?
Well...not really. Hes pretty tired of getting beat up by everyone and their mother, for one thing, and he cant help but feel that his new house hates him. His best friend is a werebear, someone is threatening his sister, and while Sam realizes that he himself has a lot of power at his fingertips, hes not exactly sure how to use it. Which, he has to admit, is a bit disconcerting.
But when everything starts falling apart, he decides its time to step up and take control. His attempts to do so just bring up more questions, though, the most important of which is more than a little alarming: Is Douglas really dead?

Narration awkward long pauses weird inflections..
One of those weird instances where the narration isnt necessarily bad just awkward long pauses weird inflections.. overall slow pace. Couldnt get past that to get into the story bummer :(
    Great Sequel
I LOVED this book!! The story was great and all my Co-workers were looking at me and wondering what iwas laughing about!! I loved the 2 narrators and can't wait for the next Samhain LaCroix novel. try it you'll love it!!
    Funny, smart, original
A YA novel that wakes up an increasingly of tired genre. Unique characters, funny dialog, highly original premise.
If you love the first book
This second book in what I hope is at least trilogy. These books are funny and engaging making this version of the world plausible but believable. I'll never forget sexy Gary the Bigfoot or that Sam father is the biggest jerkwad on the planet for the way he treats the people he supposedly loves. The only issue I had was Sam constant guilt bugged me . But other then that it's something I'm going to relisten to .
Dead things can be fun too!
A fun look at the fantasy world that doesn't make Necromancy a completely terrible thing.
This sequel continues the fun antics of a new and powerful necromancer and his friends as they try to make sense of the world both magical and mundane.

Went by quickly... In a Good Way
The book went by pretty quickly actually and in a good way. It was one of those 'finish in one sitting' kind of books and leaves you somewhat wanting more and thinking that it ended well at the same time.
The Hunt builds pretty well off the previous installments and does well with throwing a couple twists and surprises throughout the series. A number of things did appear a bit (at best) predictable by my tastes but I could probably shrug this off as being due to being accustomed so much to this genre of writing I can almost predict where the author is going with some things. That being said though, some of the things that were thrown at us throughout the scope of the title even caught me by surprised and I am left anticipating the next book to see how Cassie is able to maneuver her way out of the happenings in this title.
One thing that strikes me most in these books and it is brought about a bit more if you ask me by Cassie's mother involvement in the circle... but I can't help wondering to myself.... What the heck is up with the other parents in these books?! So many things happen in these titles to leave me a bit baffled to say the least as to why all the parents of the circle members aren't more involved in what is going on. As secretive as the kids are I am sure the parents aren't oblivious enough to know something is up and that maybe their children are in mortal danger. Outside that little qualm (which I have been having since the 2nd book) the entire title was pretty enjoyable.
The entire title remained true to the series and the genre it is trying to portray and the narration was also very fitting. As before, I look forward to see the follow up to this title.
omg the ending of this book has me twitching!
omg the ending of this book had me twitching! I spent the 5hr thinking of what was gonna happen next was telling myself that I would buy the next one in a few days but here I am first thing in the morning buying the book.
    Hard to enjoy
None of the character's are likable in Aubrey Clark's continuation of this series. I really wanted to like this book. I actually did like the plot line and thought it was a great idea. But I couldn't connect to any of the characters and I actively dislike Cassie, which made the book so hard to get through. I like that instead of just corrupting Cassie, which is like beating a dead horse at this point, we have now corrupted the entire Circle.

    Wonderful Conclusion to the Quartet
I loved this quartet. I've read it multiple times in print and enjoyed the audio versions as well. It is an interesting blending of pixie fairy tales and Norse mythology. I love that the characters grow and change throughout the books and the chanting of the different phobias are funny. The evolution of the storyline from the first book totally ended up in a different place from where I would have thought it was going to go in the last book. Zara is a wonderful main character and I'm happy with the one of her romantic triangle she ends up with. Julia Whelan as narrator did a fantastic job with her accents and characterization throughout her performance. Her

Late on a hot summer night in the tail end of 1965, Charlie Bucktin, a precocious and bookish boy of 13, is startled by an urgent knock on the window of his sleep-out. His visitor is Jasper Jones, an outcast in the regional mining town of Corrigan. Rebellious, mixed-race, and solitary, Jasper is a distant figure of danger and intrigue for Charlie. Jasper takes him through town and to his secret glade in the bush, and it's here that Charlie bears witness to Jasper's horrible discovery.
With his secret like a brick in his belly, Charlie is pushed and pulled by a town closing in on itself in fear and suspicion as he locks horns with his tempestuous mother; falls nervously in love, and battles to keep a lid on his zealous best friend, Jeffrey Lu.
And in vainly attempting to restore the parts that have been shaken loose, Charlie learns to discern the truth from the myth, and why white lies creep like a curse. In the simmering summer where everything changes, Charlie learns why the truth of things is so hard to know, and even harder to hold in his heart.

    What an Excellent Book
This powerful book, set in Western Australia is very intelligent and multi-layered. It tells the story of a young lad who is coerced to act in a manner that puts him at risk. The characters in the story are highly believable and not stereotyped. I enjoyed the unfolding of the book, the richness and depth of the text and the surprising conclusion. It really exposed some of the deep concerns of youth and their exploitations by dysfunctional families.
If you are interested in understanding some of the real concerns of Australian life in a small outback town - this tale will resonate.
This book was selected by our book club and I think it will generate a lot of discussion at our next meeting. I highly recommend it.

    Publisher's Summary:
On Lily Sanderson's 18th birthday she'll become just a girl - still a mergirl, true, but signing the renunciation will ink Princess Waterlily of Thalassinia out of existence. That leaves plain old Lily living on land, dating the boy she loves, and trying to master this being-human thing once and for all.
Now that Lily and Quince are together, mer bond or not, she's almost content to give up her place in the royal succession of Thalassinia. But just when she thinks she has everything figured out, the waves start to get rough. Lily's father sends a certain whirlpool-stirring cousin to stay with her on land. What did Doe do to get herself exiled from Thalassinia and stuck in terraped form when everyone knows how much she hates humans? And why why why is she batting her eyelashes at Lily's former crush, Brody?
The seafoam on the raging surf comes when a merboy from Lily's past shows up - Tellin asks Lily for something that clouds her view of the horizon. There's a future with Quince on land, her loyalty to the kingdom in the sea, and Lily tossing on the waves in the middle. Will she find a way to reconcile her love, her duty, and her own dreams?
Tera Lynn Childs's sequel to Forgive My Fins offers another tail-flicking romance with plenty of fun, sun, and underwater adventure.

    Fun and Flirty with Fins
Fins are Forever is a fun read. If your in the mood for something light and refreshing add this one to your summer reading.
Being royalty shouldn't be a pain in the caudal fin. Lily Sanderson's life should be perfect. She is a princess after all. Unfortunately Lily has a lot of figuring out to do. Her whole life has been dedicated to her future, and her duty to be the best queen possible. Lil is torn between her life, love, and family ashore, and her duty, and kingdom at sea. Life as she has always planned and prepared for has drastically changed. Without being in a bonded coupling by her eighteenth birthday Lily can't become crown princess, and the one person she wants to bond with is immune.
So Lily has to plan for the life unexpected. One lived on land. She has decided to abdicate her throne. Lily has chosen love and Quince over Queendom. It's too bad she didn't take school more seriously. With less than a month before graduation Lily is trying her best to salvage her academic career so she can go to college.
But fate and her family are about to make things even more difficult, when her human hating cousin, Dosinia is exiled to shore it becomes Lily's last duty as princess to educate Doe on the ways of the human world. But Doe has plans of her own. She's causing all kinds of mischief that's got Lily swimming in circles. Adding to the already mounting tension is the addition of a guppyhood friend who offers Lily a solution to her conflicting dilemma between love and duty. But is the offer worth the possible sacrifices.
Childs packs the story with relatable situations for her teenage audience. Lily's struggle with finding her own way in the world is as endearing as her quirky slang. A lot of YA being published today are really pushing the boundaries of young and adult. Most seem to cater to an older age range. Fins are Forever does have one heavy petting make out scene, which is quite tame. I think this book has some great lessons and is perfectly appropriate for the genre and age group.

    Publisher's Summary:
Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it's not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you're a normal teenage girl, but when you're half human, half mermaid, like Lily, there's no such thing as a simple crush.
Lily's mermaid identity is a secret that can't get out, since she's not just any mermaid - she's a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn't feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she's been living on land and going to Seaview High School ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems - like her obnoxious biker-boy neighbor, Quince Fletcher - but it has that one major perk: Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren't really the casual dating type - the instant they "bond", it's for life.
When Lily's attempt to win Brody's love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily ever after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

    Awsome
Couldn't wait to here the story I would listen on my breaks at work and when I got home
    whinny self centered main character
Would you try another book from Tera Lynn Childs and/or Emily Bauer?
    No
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Sure but the story was awful.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    Annoyance
    Any additional comments?
The main character of this book is an annoying whiny self centered teen. I know this book is meant for teens but I wouldn't want to expose any teen to the behavior of the character in this book. No matter how much she does wrong everyone just gives what she wants with no reguard for anyone else. Horrible book.

    Great Book, Dumb Main Character...
What made the experience of listening to Once the most enjoyable?
I loved when they were making fun of a old teachers face that looks like a bull dog!
What other book might you compare Once to and why?
Delirium, Match, The Selection, & Divergent.
Which character as performed by Tavia Gilbert was your favorite?
Well I liked when she just read normal and not acted out voices. Her natural voice is beautiful.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Eve saw her friend walking into the all woman city Califia. I could imagine the joy of seeing a long lost friend.
    Any additional comments?
This main character Eve is soo dumb... I don't understand why authors make characters dumb, maybe so the poor decisions they make lead into a new troublesome issue. At one point I just wanted to stop listening because of her dumb choice that puts her friend into harms way. Again I believe this character is like the girl form the movie Twilight... If you seen the movie, you understand the dumb choices the girl makes and you just wanna slap the stupid out of them. This book was written very well though. Some comedy and a ton of adventure. This book keeps you very interested and wanting more.I think anyone would like this book if you like Divergent. I would just think woman authors would want to make their main female characters to appear somewhat intelligent. I know men and woman think differently. But I believe to gain respect from men, maybe female authors should not portray woman as idiots. But again this is a wonderful book with that one only flaw.I can't wait for the 3rd book!
    under rated!!!
If you could sum up Once in three words, what would they be?
    exciting, crazy realistic
What was one of the most memorable moments of Once?
One of the most memberrable moments was when the dog was shot as she was trying to protect Eve and Arden.
Which character as performed by Tavia Gilbert was your favorite?
    She performed Ardin perfectly!!!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
"Once", a story of love, loss, and sacrifice!
    Any additional comments?
I can't wait for the third book to be released.
    Absorbing second book.
This book starts off a few months after the first book ended.
