Would you consider the audio edition of Inferno to be better than the print version?

No, I still like my printed books but alongside the audio the two are great.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Inferno?

The opening seemed out of place until of course you got to understand

I must admit it seemed too much like Di Vinci code, Professor Langdon on the run with a woman but still enjoyable more than an extreme reaction.

I must say I enjoyed this book over Di Vinci and Lost Symbol as a fan of Dante Mr Brown did well to keep it alive for me.

What made the experience of listening to Inferno the most enjoyable?

As with all of Dan Brown's book he has done his research and the books are full of historical facts.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favourite character is Robert Langdon. His character is well rounded. I would love to have him at one of my dinner parties.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Sometimes I felt the narration lacked passion as far as the characters were concerned. The anger and some of the interpretation of the dialogue were lacking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Sienna reveals who and what she really is.

Any additional comments?

Many times during the story I felt a little let down by the narration. Having said that though, I did enjoy Inferno and am looking forward to it being made into a film with Tom Hanks again as Robert and directed by Ron Howard. Am looking forward to seeing who is cast as Sienna.

Hasson never disappoints

I have listened to several of Carl Hiasson's books. Have enjoyed each one even though there is a theme and style that is a little repetitive. Still, I like the witty and clever human twists. Fun read/listen.

Carl Hiassen is the best!

And George Newbern did a magnificent job delivering it. thank-you to both. I always think as I start a new book by Mr. Hiassen that THIS time I will be just a tad disappointed, you know just because ' how can he keep delivering fresh meaty stories?". but each time he does. wow!

Enjoyable for a newbie fan

This is only my second Carl Hiaasen book - the first was read in print, not an audiobook - and I enjoyed it......however I can see the similarities and can see how too many of them would become repetitious and be too much of a good thing. But, it isn't too much for me and this is still an enjoyable book, both in tone and content. It has humourous writing and a good storyline (and a reasonable mystery).

3.5 stars.

Not my genre

I didn't realize this was Christian fiction when I got the book. The story was good, I liked the characters but there were just too many references to God and whether you should believe in Him or not for me to really enjoy it.

But if that's what you enjoy when listening to books then you will probably enjoy this one.

Good, for a first novel, plus one.

This is a decent book, especially for first novel (I hope that is what this is). I look forward to seeing how the skills of the author progress.

I felt the storyline flowed, and there were a few twists and turns that were unexpected. I increased the rating by one star, because I REALLY appreciate a clean story! I also wish there was less romance and more of simply friendship building. I appreciate friendship building, but not everything rotates around love.

I don't have any problem with a story that adds Christian themes, and even though this does throw a little in, really it isn't much. Not compared to other books I have read.

The narrator seemed inexperienced, and (hopefully) will improve over time. There were several instances of mispronounced words, page turns are distinctively evident, and a few times that she repeated a sentence immediately after a brief pause. Speaking of which, there are several times, most of which were in the first part, where there were distinctively long, unaccounted for pauses.

Overall, I will try the next book in the series.

Page turning literally and figuratively

Great book! Very interesting and well written but the performance was not edited and in some parts repeated. You could also clearly hear the reader turning pages. Outside that it was great

Looks like a great mystery series to get into!

Overburdened by guilt and grief from the past, and frustrated by unfulfilled ambition, this Adult Child of an Alcoholic still manages to make life an okay place to be. She planned to work in forensic science, but has to make do with being crime scene clean up. Some of her attitudes and impulsiveness are characteristic, but that doesn't mean that she should be the target of attempted murder (more than once) or treated like a dimwit. She has some quirky friends, and there is romantic interest. Generally a really interesting read.

Janet Campus gives a great performance and adds much to already well delineated characters (pun intended).

You're kidding, right? Reader Teri Clark Linden is nearly the worst reader ever! I finished reading the book in paperback.

What did you like best about this story?

I read this book years ago and loved it, and I wanted to experience it all over again. Even so, I had completely forgotten how charming this modern-day fairy tale was!

Downtrodden librarian Lori Shepherd is startled to discover that Aunt Dimity, who she'd always thought was an imaginary heroine in her mother's stories, actually lived -- or had lived until very recently. Lori is called upon by the terms of Dimity Westwood's will to accomplish a task. But, Lori discovers, the real task she needs to fulfill so that the dead can rest in peace is a very different one altogether. Along the way, Lori, with the help of a good-hearted and winsome young lawyer, solves more than one mystery.

Would you be willing to try another one of Teri Clark Lindens performances?

Actually, I refuse to listen to any more Aunt Dimity books simply because she's the reader. I love Audible books, and I may break down later if I get so busy that I can't read paperback books at all.

I almost never check to see who the reader is because, usually, the reader can't ruin the experience for me. In future, I'll be careful not to buy any books that are read by her.

Save yourselves!

Years ago, I read as many of these cute cozy mysteries as I could find. Imagine my delight when I found that they were here on audible.

I have listened to the first 20 minutes of this book and can go no further. I won't go into greater detail, but will say that a reader can make or break a book or a series.

This is a real shame.

Nice start to a series!

Insurance fraud photographer Roy Ballard had his young daughter kidnapped when she was with him years ago, so although it is not a part of his business he becomes interested when another young girl is kidnapped. He works on the case despite police telling him to stop. Along the way he convinces waitress Mia Madison to join him in his business. Author Ben Rehder uses a lot of witty dialog in his fast paced novels. Narration is excellent.

Suspenseful, unpredictable, sarcastic

Learning about Roy's background - how his lost child gave him a personal stake in finding the little girl.

I liked the pacing of the narration.

I laughed at times at some of Roy's comebacks. He obviously has a need waiting to be fulfilled.

The protagonist was awesome. Very engaging main character.

It didn't sound like a performance. His reading blended so well with the story it was like a movie in my head.

Just a note that there are two story lines going on here. Past and present. I think Mr. Rehder does a good job signaling but just be aware.

It's not fair for me to give this book a review. I simply can't read books about vulnerable children.

Narration makes all the difference

Story often difficult to follow because of the narrator's lack of pauses between key events, and the use of only one voice throughout. It would also have been a lot less tedious a listen if narrator would have used different voices.

So angry I could spit tacks!

Isn't that proof of an effective author, though? If she makes the reader so angry at the characters and the plot, doesn't that mean she's done her job well? I hope that's what it means.

For those familiar with the characters, the book takes a turn in the whole Clare/Matt/Mike/Breanne relationship morass. In my opinion, justice was not served, good did not triumph over bad. The author rewarded the bad behavior of her characters, and I can only hope that several of them do not live happily ever after.

Alas, the plot made me so angry that I am taking a hiatus from the series. The first seven books I listened to one after the other, and the next is in my library, where it will stay for at least several months.

Great audio of a great book!

Clare and Matteo co-run the Village Coffee Shop in Manhattan. They also parent 20 something daughter, Joy. They have been divorced, friends, and bantering back and forth for six books now. Finally, in book seven, Matteo has become engaged to the less than kind and friendly editor, Breanne Summour, of the top fashion magazine, "Trend".

But Clare's detecting skills are called upon when someone seems to have decided that Breanne should not make it to the alter. After Matteo's bachelor party, the young Breanne look-alike dancer was shot and killed while walking along with Matteo and Clare. Convincing the snarky local policeman that Breanne was the actual target took lots of convincing. Clare's new love interest, NY Police Detective Mike, believes them, and suggests that Clare stick with Breanne and do some investigating herself.

This series just gets better and better with every installment. Every book tells a bit more about the coffee industry and places around Manhatten. The fashion world plays a big part in this book. Sometimes facts seem unnecessary and padding for cozies.

Entertaining Story

I'm a fan of "The Cat Who" series. I listen to these stories when I want to relax and escape from reality. There are recurring characters in this series who are slightly quirky, but mostly likable.

During this story, "Qwill" is collecting material for a book of historial stories about the fictional city of Pickaxe. Some of these stories are included in this book. While the stories are somewhat interesting, for me they just slowed the narrative of the main story. That is the reason my "overall" and "story" ratings were four stars rather than five.

George Guidall is excellent, as usual. I have listened to the audio version of these books over and over again. I feel certain I do this because his narration adds so much.

If you have enjoyed other "Cat Who" stories, I believe you will enjoy this one.

The cat who tailed a thief

I love all of Braun's books! Love the cozy feeling they offer with quaint insights into villages and their citizens.

Oddly Remastered

Would you listen to another book narrated by George Guidall?

I adore anything narrated by George Guidall and will sometimes pick something just because he's the narrator (though it was a bit odd to hear him to American Gods) however, the remastered version of this audiobook is a bit inconsistent. Every so often it switches from sounding clear and great to being really muffled.

Good book, still needs some work on the audio thou

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Almost the first 6 hours are building up to the murder. So it's not really an edge of the seat type book. The nice thing is you do know all the characters. I somehow missed this one when I started reading P. D. James. I like the stories and I know what I'm getting.

The story like others of P. D. James is great though it did take a while to get started. I just wish there was more attention paid to the audio file. Every so often lines are repeated. It seems that an tape version was converted. At least we don't get the side 2 message.

She expresses the characters in different accents that I would not even know about let alone be able to imagine as I read the book.

One very disturbing thing about this audio book was that every 30-40 minutes a sentence or two would repeat. It bacame very disturbing by the end of the book

Needs better editing

Too many passages were repeated twice. This was very annoying . The narrator of the private patient created a better Dalgleish.

Sometimes the narrator is hard to understand, but all in all a great production and a great story!

Yes but the numerous instances of repeated lines was extremely distracting. There were also a number of places in which the dialog skipped forward.

Poor Agatha! ...Don't skip this one.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes. After reading other reviews I was wary of this book by one of my favorite authors. I was curious why so many readers had negative things to say about the usually marvelous reader and the story itself. Curiosity won out and I had to read it for myself. It turns out that our beloved Agatha seems so unjustly treated by her fellow characters, that it really got my dander up! Also, she reacts in ways that I did not expect of her, and consequently did not want to believe of her. So, at first I thought, "I don't like this!" However, the reality is that the story is as full of twists and turns as we have all come to expect...in fact more so. Since the crisp character of Agatha with all her faults is like an old friend, It is only human nature to want things to work out harmoniously for her in the end rather than seemingly inequitably. Readers experience that often enough in real life.

In a nutshell, I recommend that avid friends of Agatha brave the reading of this tangled mystery, and muddle through with our heroine to the surprising ending.

Would you ever listen to anything by M. C. Beaton again?

Absolutely.

What about Penelope Keiths performance did you like?

Ms. Keith perfectly intones our crusty Agatha and renders the other characters with tell-tale hints of their personalities.

Definitely...Agatha needs a well deserved pat on the back next time.

I stumbled upon this series as I made my way through Agatha Christie...it kept popping up, so when I finished I gave this series by MC Beaton a try and I absolutely love them. Being a middle aged woman myself (well 49) I crack up every time she brings up those crazy things that happen to us as we age (when she talks about not wanting to fart I busted out laughing, to the vexation of my sleeping husband) Shes so smart yet naive, a bully yet a pushover, confident yet struggles with self esteem...in other words she is a real woman. The escapades she finds herself entangled in are so plausible that at no time do I feel the story is contrived.

Buy the book, but start at the beginning of the series and I welcome you as you begin your wonderful journey into the hilarious mind and life that is Agatha Raisin.

Another great piece

This is by far my favorite in the series yet. Funny, sardonic, and as real to life as an English country side murder mystery series can be.

Did not enjoy this one

This was my least favourite Agatha Raisin so far. I felt that it was too removed from the village. It was more unbelievable than usual. The plot became too convoluted for me which made the whole book seem weak.

very good, nice plot twist, Classic Higgins - Clark! It wasn't boring at all! there was plenty taking place that kept you guessing and listening. Enjoy!

A Little Long, but Overall A Good Listen

complex, predictably unpredictable

Would you recommend Moonlight Becomes You to your friends? Why or why not?

I would not recommend the book only because I think there are other murder-mysteries that are more gripping and scary. Those are the things I look for in this genre.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the dialogues of the different character sets. There were a LOT of characters to keep up with, so any chance to hear them discussing things that set them apart form the rest of the crowd was welcome

Very very large cast. It was pretty difficult to keep up with, especially if you can't listen to it all at once. Everyone was referred to by their full name every time throughout the whole book which became additionally overwhelming to try to keep up. For every person there were three names, plus a title for some. It was interesting in the end though to see how everyone came together.
