Entertaining, but had to check my play speed

The reader has a nice voice and does a good job at voicing different characters, but I had to double-check to see if my speed was set at 1.5! She sounds like she's on warp drive.

It was disconcerting and a little distracting, but I did enjoy the book in spite of it.

I've read several of the books in this series, this was the first I've listened to. They're well-written cozies with a like able cast of characters.

Light and entertaining

This is another light an entertaining mystery with Melanie Travis. She continues to show dogs and solve mysteries. Very enjoyable

Another Lucas Davenport winner

This is book twenty something in the John Sandford Lucas Davenport series and, in my view, probably the best so far. Sandford's dialogue is top notch and although the "hero" has matured somewhat and become a steady family man his original character remains and the familiar side-kicks retain their well-described personalities. It does it for me and will satisfy all Sandford enthusiasts. The reader did well, not an easy task this one with so many male cops and characters, and made it an easy though gripping engagement. Highly recommended for those who like the genre and the author.

Story follows a good continuing script about Dr. Watson. Very enjoyable. The narrator is very good as well. Any Sherlock Holmes fan will enjoy this book.

a lot going on

WWI was a complicated time, the world changing in all kinds of ways both good and bad . . . ugly warfare leading to changing social mores. This book deals with a lot of this, and it does it well, in an engaging mystery format with familiar characters making their own sort of transitions. I enjoyed this book quite a bit, though the narrator occasionally disappoints, as in when he tries on the voice of one important character who, for some reason, is distinguished by speaking very loudly.

Very good series - on par with Laurie King!

The combination of Robert Ryan and Richard Burnip make for a fabulous 'read' - on par with Laurie R. King! This is now in my top 3 ranking!

Watson without Holmes

So enjoyed this book. Kept my attention throughout and full of historical facts plus a plot that twists and turns. A few sub plots going on to. It works. As a Sherlock Holmes fan I was a bit dubious but I need not have.

Excellent narration and I've bought the next one of the series.

This book was one that wasn't similar to any other book out there! Definitely had twists and turns that you didn't see coming... couldn't put the book down at times!

What can I say - it's Debra Webb - what's not to like?

As usual it is intriguing and never a dull moment. Liked the characters and the story line. Sure makes one think twice about allowing any cloning at all.

Lots of twists and turns and the author seemed to me to leave the story open to a sequel even though this ended on a happy note.

It was a good book with a very interesting topic. I am very happy to read this book after some of the Faces of Evil ones. This is a breath of fresh air.

Awesome writer!! A must read

This was a wild ride! Debra Webb is an amazing writer I have read many of her books and so far all have been awesome. I especially like the faces of death series. This book and many turns that I was not expecting and that is what makes this a great book . I would highly recommend reading her books.

Enchanting

Apparently this is book two of a series entitled Moonshine Mystery which I was unaware of when I choose this book to read. The title is what intrigue me to pick up the book.

The story takes place in a small town in Virginia. Our protagonist is Daisy McGovern who after her husband left her decided to convert the local diner into a bakery. She calls the bakery Sweetie Pies. Daisys best friend Brenda helps her achieve her goals.

While Brenda is baking in the kitchen of the bakery, three men enter to rob the store. Brenda manages to stab one of the robbers in self defense; the other two robbers take off with 90 pounds of cream cheese and crates. In the search for the identity of the dead man and catch the robbers the story takes us into the area of moonshine, gun slingers, and stolen historic maps.

The story is well written with a cast of colorful characters including eccentric mountain men. The book is also full of southern charm. The author adds a bit of humor to the story unfortunately the story drags a bit at times.

This is an easy to read book that makes a good get away from it all book. Erin Bennett narrated the book.

I really enjoyed the book, but couldn't finish this one. Daisy is too stupid to live. I like Rivk, but, he's not on every page.

Good Crime Story with a Tech Touch

Sure. It's a quick listen/read of a good story with easy-to-like characters and interesting twists of misdirection just when the good guys seem about to catch the bad guys.

Yes, the mystery/suspense was created well.

This was a one-day listen and a very interesting one, at that. I volunteered to listen to this audiobook through a Goodreads offer by the author. While I am not particularly drawn to mysteries or international crime stories, I am interested in trying out authors new to me and stepping out of my usual genre box. This worked quite nicely.

This is not only the first of a series, but also the author's debut novel. In this book, we meet MI5 Agent Lucas Norton on his first assignment. He and his team must follow up on an email that has caught the attention of both British and American Intelligence. From one clue leading to another question to another clue leading to more questions, the British team, lead by Norton, and an American team seem to be "misdirected" time and again from catching the high-tech bank robbers close to getting away with their theft of $48M from a US bank.

There is interesting technology used in the story which is apparently not stuff of science fiction, and some good old fashioned detecting, too.

This crime story could possibly be too low-tech for true techies, but to the average reader, this might just fit the bill.

Excellent narration of world class author

What narration should always be! Lyrical delivery of one of my favourite authors. Vintage Davies exploration of the psyche with Canadian flare.

Philosophical and also interesting at the same time

George Guidall does his usual awesome performance that makes the conversations come to life. The philosophical musings are interesting and well thought out. The quotations are timely and add much to the book!! I loved this book.

A Very Long Biography

The beginning of the book was filled with detailed character studies by the "Cunning Man." He became a doctor, but the book starts in his youth. By the time he went to college, and he's describing the people he met in his hobby of acting, things started south. I found myself skipping forward by a minute, and not missing a thing. Then it was chapters. I made it to the end, but I probably skipped about half the book by then. The author is extremely talented. His use of the language is wonderful. When describing events and conversations in the early part of the 20th century, the phrasing he uses sounds authentic. But I'm returning this book, because I just found it, well, boring. That isn't to say it isn't a wonderful story. It just didn't work for me.

I have really enjoyed the Gus Legarde books.The storylines are familiar and interesting.There's always something weird happening in his life.The author makes his characters real and people you'd want to know.The narrator,David Kudler did a fine job with each voice,making it a pleasure to listen to.

A Well Crafted, Enjoyable Story

As far as I know, Aaron Paul Lazar does not write in the urban fantasy genre I normally read/listen to, but I have read a couple of his books when the mood has hit me to read something different from my usual choices. Each time Ive picked an Aaron Paul Lazar novel, Ive never been let down. He just crafts really great stories. In this book, Mr. Lazar gives you a tender love story, a mystery and an evil pharmaceutical corporation.

Narrator Dave Kudler does a great job with this book. He not only brings life to an already lively story, he also takes on the challenges of accents, which several characters in the book have. I really liked Lady Blues: Forget Me Not: A Gus LeGarde Mystery and I think you will too. Finally, this audio book was provided by the author at no cost in exchange for an honest review, courtesy of Audio Book Blast.

I guess it reminded me a little of The Notebook just because it was a great love story and involved Alzheimers.
