    Publisher's Summary:
A team of neuroscientists uncover amazing new capabilities in the brain that may steer human evolution toward miraculous and deadly frontiers in this spectacular debut work of speculative science fiction - Limitless meets James Rollins - that combines spirituality and science in an inventive, mind-blowing fashion.
For decades scientists have speculated about the untapped potential of the human brain. Now, neuroscientist Chuck Brenton has made an astonishing breakthrough. He has discovered the key - the crucial combination of practice and conditioning - to access the incredible power dormant in 90 percent of our brains. Applying his methods to test subjects, he has stimulated abilities that elevate brain function to seemingly godlike levels.
These extraordinary abilities can transform the world, replacing fear and suffering with tranquility and stability. But in an age of increasing militarization, corporate exploitation, and explosive technological discovery, a group of influential power brokers are determined to control Brenton's new superbeings for their own manipulative ends - and their motives may be far from peaceful.

it lost its way at the end, but I liked it
without spoiling it, I'll just say that it started out as a good science fiction story, butt forgot all of its own rules at the end; and turned into a scene from a video game. The technology and biological functions that were described throughout the book suddenly devolved into magic. Disappointing.
    Sensational!
Very creative and well written sci-fi thriller. The audible narrator also does a great job with the various characters. Suspenseful till the end!
It was such a great story
I will now say that Hemstreet is the new Crichton. This story was intelligent, funny, & unusual in a refreshing perspective. It was good to meet you Patrick at the Phoenix Comicon. I'll buy the paperback for my wife.
A Good Ways Beyond Suspension of Disbelief
For a book to be truly disappointing it has to have a kernel of an idea. This book does and is. With engaging characters and a fun or suspenseful story, the reader can tolerate some amount of nonsensical technical/business/political foofery. This can work even within the predictable confines of the genre.
Conversely, the reader may be engaged by a sense of place. Authentic detailing may help support lightly sketched characters or an imperfect story arc. In my Audible Library, Blue Gemini is a good example.
Perhaps I would have enjoyed the god wave part of the story more if it had not been preceded by the nonsense of the cool math and the brain interface. As it was, the nonsensical elements just kept piling up.
I think the logic here is something like it is better to tell one big lie than lots of little ones.
To contrast the energy and drama and fun of E.E. Doc Smith's brain wave stories with this poor effort is to realize why some stories stand the test of decades and some will be forgotten like a bad meal at a restaurant that will reopen under a new name in a year.
The characters were as flat and predictable as could be imagined. I neither cared for them or disliked them or was engaged in any way by them.
I have seen some of the positive reviews about this novel. I can only imagine that somehow the literary reviewers are afraid to say the emperor is naked because they don't understand how many nonsensical elements are in the story.

    Excellent !!!

    Interesting story
Don't Say a Word is definitely a worthwhile listen, but it is not a book I would listen to again. It is a story of deeply troubling and deadly mental illness and its impact on innocent family members. There is also a twist on 2 murders of family members that I did not predict.
    Excellent!
I really enjoyed this third book. My favorite of the series. Through the writing I grew to care about the characters. The narrator was so good! Definitely a good listen!
Loved, loved, loved this book and the audio too.
I've had this book for awhile and read 4 other books by this author...but this was the best one! This has many twist and turns and the ending...wow! I would recommend this book and the audio.
    Definitely Worthy of a credit!
Couldn't stop listening! A great book with a few twists to the end, which I never thought of. Don't hesitate with this one.

    I sure like Sloane Monroe!!!!!
MS. Bradshaw is a wonderful author!!! One her full length books, she always hits them out of the park!!!! I don't usually care for novellas as much, but her's are great!!!! U really get into the characters and the story!!!!! TREMENDOUS!!!!!!! C:o) MCELWOLF
WAY TOO SHORT FOR THE MONEY
The reason I gave this books a two star rating was because it was just too short. I have read several of Cheryl's books and have enjoyed them very much. But nowhere in the description of the book does it say novella, there was one slight reference where it gave the number of pages 103. I just was not expecting such a short story and paid what I would have for a full novel. The story was getting very good, but because of the brevity it left everything hanging
... a Cheryl Bradshaw fan so I was more than pleased to read this installment and liked it
I have to say that I'm a Cheryl Bradshaw fan so I was more than pleased to read this installment and liked it...I actually haven't read any other authors who are included in this Flight 12 series and probably should just to see where it leads. I do like reading series from authors as long as I enjoy the main characters in the books...I do like the Sloan Monroe series and enjoy the stories...this is a continuation in both her life and the cases she works...good book.
    Keep it coming
Exciting from start to finish! Sloane is a bit cocky for my taste but I suppose if she wasn't it wouldn't keep the story going.
    Sloan Monroe
Sloan Monroe's character never ceases to amaze me. I liked the relationship her and Giovanni shared although it seems it's finally over between them. I like the mystery with a little romance Cheryl Bradshaw brings to her books

There are facts about the case which don't add up, and as the investigation deepens, Decker and his team uncover layer upon layer of lies and deception rooted at a time in American history which most would rather forget, but some seem keen to remember.

A race against time ensues, because when revealed, that information threatens to tear apart the corridors of power at the very highest level. The case proves to be life-changing for both Mars and Decker in ways that neither could ever have imagined.

    Missing the mark
The first book featuring amos decker was great. The voice of amos in this makes him sound like a kid rather than the character that was first created.
Overall, the book is nice. Performances are better than the story!
    Another Baldacci masterpiece!
Excellent read, definitely worth it! Amos Dekker is definitely becoming one of my favourite characters!
    Brilliant
Baldacci is an amazing storyteller and Amos Decker definitely one of his best characters! More please.
    Enjoyable and easy listening
My first David Baldicci audio book. impressed, good story line, a few twists and page turner (if you can say that about an audio book) but I didn't want to stop listening.

    a good one
This has a good story line, good characters, an interesting setting, a non-stop pace, no blood and guts or things jumping out to yell "boo" and a satisfactory ending.
    Very entertaining and engaging
A real page turner. The plot moves fast. You will enjoy it more if you are reading the series from the beginning but still a good read if this is your first.

    Members Reviews:
A likable burglar? An unlikely premise.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
No. Even though I really enjoy Tim Hallinan's writing, the Poke Rafferty books are more enjoyable, and IMHO they are much more consistent with the writer's Rule #1: write about what you know. Tim's humor is intact: the jokes come fast and furious. However, Junior Bender is a much less enjoyable protagonist than Poke, and the stories of his burglaries are exactly what you might think: not so much fun. Junior tries to rationalize what he is doing (stealing from the rich and wicked...) but we never identify with these ruminations. I understand Tim's need to avoid getting trapped into writing the same books over and over, but this series is never going to match the first one.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Junior is clearly not my favorite, and there aren't enough well-drawn characters to get attached to one of them. The fact that he has terrific burglary skills? Is that something we are supposed to relish? The fact that he usually rips off horribly rich and, therefore, evil guys does not mitigate the thefts. It's just a bad premise. I have only read two of these, and started a third, but I know what I like.
What about Peter Berkrots performance did you like?
Peter is a great narrator. His voice is marvelous, richly textured and pleasant to listen to. A tiny nit to pick is his breathiness, which he overuses. But he sells the jokes very well.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    I wouldn't.
    Any additional comments?
Do yourself a favor and read the Poke Rafferty books. There is some rough stuff, but here Tim is genuinely writing about what he knows. He lives in Southeast Asia for six months of each year, and he knows Thailand as an expert does. His depiction of women is great. The best book, I feel, is almost entirely about Rose, his wife. The title is The Queen of Patpong. This book truly deserves to become a movie, which is partly why the moneymen of H'wood will never do it. They are constantly scraping the bottom of the barrel, a segment of the population that Tim is most assuredly not writing for. The whole book is so vivid, the character of Rose is so real that you know her almost like a friend, whom you would love to spend time with. (I have split three infinitives here, for those of you grammar fairies who may be counting.) A unique and fantastic work of art and the writer's many talents.
    Enjoyable series!
Another great Junior Bender yarn and a great way to enjoy my commute.

    Great Story, Mediocre Reader
Enjoyed the story very much but the reader lacked the ability to imitate different types of voices (include a female voice) and that made it quite difficult at times to tell who was speaking.

    Publisher's Summary:
You are Dead is the eleventh thrilling crime novel in Peter James' Roy Grace series.
    They were marked for death.
The last words Jamie Ball hears from his fiancée, Logan Somerville, are in a terrified mobile phone call. She has just driven into the underground car park beneath the block of flats where they live in Brighton. Then she screams and the phone goes dead. The police are on the scene within minutes, but Logan has vanished, leaving behind her neatly parked car and mobile phone.
That same afternoon, workmen digging up a park in another part of the city, unearth the remains of a woman in her early twenties, who has been dead for thirty years.
At first, to Roy Grace and his team, these two events seem totally unconnected. But then another young woman in Brighton goes missing - and yet another body from the past surfaces. Meanwhile, an eminent London psychiatrist meets with a man who claims to know information about Logan. And Roy Grace has the chilling realization that this information holds the key to both the past and present crimes... Does Brighton have its first serial killer in over eighty years?
    Members Reviews:
    This series had promise
Soporific redundancy at the hands of greedy publishers and subhuman editors took this batch of somewhat credible characters into the realm of sophomoric tripe.
The development of the black lieutenant (or whatever you Brits call them) was a pregnant opportunity wasted. The mawkish, trite expressions of affection were enough to induce nauseous moments.
I only wish the future of the crime writing genre can transcend this pablum.
I read an author's series to lend them the benefit of the doubt. In this case, I want all my wasted hours (and credits) returned!
    Hard to put down!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definetly recommed this to everyone. It has everything in it and parts where you are on the edge of your seat.
Which character as performed by Daniel Weyman was your favorite?
    No doubt, Glen Branson.
    Like watching your favourite soapies
Would you listen to You Are Dead again? Why?
No, but only because I rarely listen/read books more than once.
What did you like best about this story?
I have listened to every other story in this series and it's like watching my favourite soapie as I have grown to love all the characters. As usual, likeable characters with their own personalities and enough twists and turns to keep you totally hooked.
What about Daniel Weymans performance did you like?
I associate his voice with Roy Grace. Perfect
    Any additional comments?
Definitely read/listen to these books in order or sometimes it could be hard to follow.
    Another fantastic read!
Don't know how Peter James does it, his books just get better and better! A great story, love the characters, I always feel like I know them personally. As usual, I can't wait for the next Roy Grace book.
    A grisly chiller
Would you listen to You Are Dead again? Why?
Probably not; I rarely revisit books. Too many still to read and never enough time!
What did you like best about this story?
Superb plot and character development. The series goes from strength to strength. I'm interested in the characters and sub plots and want to know about their lives.
What does Daniel Weyman bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
    Great diction and great pace.

    Critic Reviews:
"A gritty police procedural, with no-holds barred and a shocking insight to the reality of some. Dark and disturbing, yet exceptionally compelling." (Mel Sherratt, author of Taunting the Dead)
    Members Reviews:
    Competent but Not Inspired
I downloaded this book as a free narration with my KU subscription. The author for some reason alternates between first and third person. The first person chapters are those by the Detective Inspector Hannah Robbins, who is heading up the investigation of the killing of a young girl. The thrid person POV involves another officer and a victim, each in separate chapters.
I didn't really care for this switching of POV and I think she would have done better if she had opted for a deep third person for the entire book.
The characters are not particularly interesting, although they are competently drawn. It was just had I met them in real life I wouldn't want to spend 8 hours with them. I think the only time her writing had a spark was when she detailing investigation procedure. There she was self assured.
She can plot ok, but I think she needs to concentrate on making readers care more about her characters. These characters are a bleak and humorless lot, as is DI Robbins.
The author also concentrated on Robbins' drinking and love life which is probably foreshadowing.future problems.
It probably doesn't help that I had recently listened to Stuart McBride's latest Logan McRae novel. Now there is a writer who can make a dark and horrible story spark.
    Great for first in series
Rebecca Bradley did a great job of crafting well-rounded characters. If you enjoy thrillers then this book is for you.
    pretty good listening
The female DI spends too much time in internal dialog covering non detectuve daily life. I find this tiresome. Is this the new norm for women in detective jobs? Anyway, this is a good enough read if you really like British police procedurals. I see this is book one of a series that I will try again. A police job in Robbery/ Homicide bears the title of police researcher. I hope this is a real job description, I'd apply in a New York minute.
    Not totally worth it
I am into British police books but this one left me wanting. She used alcohol for a crutch. Self centered and the compassion was forced. Everything was about her and she couldn't even muster up caring for her own father. It didn't even have to do with competing in a mans world it was about wanting everything for Hannah and if it upset her world then you only just exist.
    Shallow Waters
