    Release date: 05-22-15

    Publisher's Summary:
He's a boy called Jew. Gypsy. Stopthief. Runt. Happy. Fast. Filthy son of Abraham.
He's a boy who lives in the streets of Warsaw. He's a boy who steals food for himself and the other orphans. He's a boy who believes in bread and mothers and angels. He's a boy who wants to be a Nazi someday, with tall, shiny jackboots and a gleaming Eagle hat of his own. Until the day that suddenly makes him change his mind. And when the trains come to empty the Jews from the ghetto of the damned, he's a boy who realizes it's safest of all to be nobody.
Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli takes us to one of the most devastating settings imaginable - Nazi-occupied Warsaw of World War II - and tells a tale of heartbreak, hope, and survival through the bright eyes of a young orphan.

    A moving and inspiring story.
Milkweed is a great book for any one who likes learning about history. Milkweed was very different from other world war 2 books instead of learning by being told facts you are learning through a story of a boy.
    A overall good book
I somewhat enjoyed the book but it was not the best book I ever read
    Profound and very important work
Where does Milkweed rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I was deeply affected by hearing the unabridged audiobook "Milkweed" (authored by Jerry Spinelli and narrated by Ron Rifkin) which got me to re-examine fundamentals of my life and indeed of the whole human experience. As is usually the case after I ingest a profound work such as this, I have to write about it in order to help me process it.
I am not sure why I picked this book in particular, just wanted something gritty to drown out my nearly ceaseless troublesome thoughts after a particularly difficult holiday visit that left me with lots of worries and confusion. I'd describe the book as a page-turner, for I was riveted - listening when I couldn't sleep from worry, listening upon arising, listening when my troubling thoughts circled inside me again and again...
When I got to the end (which arrived much sooner than I wished) I felt like something in me was changing. Though I'm turning 64 in less than a handful of weeks, I've never been able to endure more than a cursory acknowledgment of the Holocaust - what Wikipedia refers to as the deadliest genocide in history - until this recounting as seen thru the eyes of a foolish and naive little orphan boy.
It reminded me of another extremely racist time I experienced growing up, and led me to watch a difficult movie by Lee Daniels "The Butler", about a black man serving as a White House Butler continuously throughout the tenure of 8 presidents. As with the "Milkweed" book, watching this movie I felt I was changing. Suddenly I found myself on the internet searching for names and events mentioned in the movie. I wanted to remember, to place in the context of my own sometimes fuzzy timeline - those events that happened when I was a scared grade-schooler growing up in the frightening and deadly political climate and events of the early sixties, continuing in the riotous and reactionary bedlam of the late sixties and early seventies when I was a confused radicalized teen and young adult.

    A compelling hero epic
Would you consider the audio edition of North! Or Be Eaten! to be better than the print version?
I like both - I loved this narrator but the illustration in the books is really enhancing. The audio has been a wonderful companion.
    Any additional comments?
When CS Lewis wrote Narnia, he wasn't really writing fantasy - he was playing with "dressed rabbits" - a style of anthropomorphizing pastoral animals and mythic creatures (like centaurs) so as to give the story a magical setting. Basically, however, the creatures all followed rules that were fairly basic to regular humans and this made Narnia quite relatable to most of it's readers.
When Tolkien built Middle Earth, he built an entirely different world than our own. Instead of magic invading the "real" world, Tolkien created another world with different kinds of creatures but still the same basic sense of physics/gravity and created order.
Peterson's Wingfeather books are more like Tolkien than Lewis. I understand why they are classified as fantasy (they do have otherworldly creatures) but they are not magical in the way that Harry Potter defies the laws of reality nor are they fantastic in the way that Percy Jackson super imposes an alternate reality on our own. Instead, they are very much a classic hero story set in a world that is remarkably like ours (minus a few hundred years). It would be more fair to classify Peterson as being like the author of Beowulf, Homer, Tolkien or any of the Robin Hood authors.
In this installment, the plot deepens and darkens. The characters are living under the terrible burden of an inescapable legacy during a dark time when evil is winning. Many of our primary characters are absolutely tested to the breaking point - and all bear awful scars from the choices that they make.
But, like any true heroic epic, there is never a moment without hope. There is always a fight to move towards the light and like the plot, the characters are deepened in so doing.
This book is intense. It is beautifully written and very exciting to read. We find ourselves utterly invested in our characters and so we suffer with them and we hope for them.
The mood and subtext of this book reminds me of Oliver Twist or Barrie's Peter Pan. Unlike Lord of the Flies, the darkness does not win. It scars. It wounds. It exacts a bounty. But darkness never really wins.
I am thrilled to have this series in our family library.

    What a hoot!
I laughed so hard my sides hurt. Excellent performance, funny as hell, and 8th grade boy's humor! Don't listen to this if you recently had surgery, cracked a rib or have COPD.
    The whole family loved it!
We went on a road trip and wanted to do something other than watch a movie or play with an iPad. We decided to do an audiobook. We all enjoyed listening to this book! We enjoyed the humor and storyline. It made the driving go by a lot faster!

    Intertaining Listen!
I finished it in one day, so I would say it's a good listen. I could relate to my school days. It got me out of the whole being a grown up for a while.
    Hysterical family fun!
Entertaining for our three preteens and mom and dad too! Made our 8 hour car trip fly by in no time. Laugh out loud funny.

For fans of Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events and Trenton Lee Stewart's Mysterious Benedict Society, here comes the fifth book in the Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, the acclaimed and hilarious Victorian mystery series by Maryrose Wood.
Lord Fredrick Ashton may not feel ready to be a father, but with a little Ashton on the way he's sure about one thing: The wolfish curse on his family must end soon, before the child is born. Penelope willingly takes on the challenge; when Lady Constance's doctor prescribes a seaside holiday, Penelope jumps at the chance to take the three Incorrigible children to Brighton, where she hopes to persuade the old sailor Pudge to reveal what he knows about the Ashton curse.
But the Ashtons are not the only ones at the beach in January. The passionately temperamental Babushkinov family is also taking the winter waters. The Incorrigible children may have been raised by wolves, but the Babushkinov children are the wildest creatures they've ever seen. Is it more than mere coincidence that these untamed children have turned up in Brighton just as Penelope and the Incorrigibles arrive?

Cliffhanger ending; last book release 6/19/2018!
For those who are listening to this series, I recommend that you wait until closer to the June 19, 2018 release of the series finale due to the cliffhanger finish of Book V. I wish I had!
I love this audio book series and recommend it for everyone ages 4 to 110. The series is fabulous! The narration, more precisely the performance, is by Katherine Kellgren who is without peer in the performance of audio books. Both author Maryrose Wood and narrator Katherine Kellgren are Americans, but the series is set in Victorian England and the narration is with English accents.
    Another AMAZING story
What did you love best about The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place: Book V?
Great continuation of the series, wonderful characters and excellent humor
What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Oh MY! I have never heard a reader like Katherine Kellgren! She brings life and a fullness to the characters that makes me feel as if I am right inside the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Both!
    Any additional comments?
Another AMAZING story - looking forward to the next one
    Surprises
I can't believe the ending. The series has been full of twists and turns but I was shocked by the way this book ended.
    HALF GOOD HALF BAD
I loved all the mystery and everything but one I'm ANGRY about. Anyway it was Great.
Story is great - voice gets a bit screechy at times.
We love the story and will listen to the last book. At times though the voice is screechy for so long that we have to take a break. If we could change that one thing we would have devoured the book.

Some surprises are just wonderful, like neighbor Nick Geiger coming home from war. And some are ridiculous, like Batty's new dog-walking business. Great narration! Story took its time to start, but the refreshing children and their humor made for a touching listen filled with warmth (if such a contradiction of senses can exist). Good old fashioned sensibilities make this story exceptional for family reading.
    Snow White is dead
This book and the whole series is wonderful! The characters are wonderful the setting sounds gorgeous and the emotions are heartbreaking and joyous to listen to!! A wonderful glori
    Fabulous Series
I love this series for my kids..we listened to all of them and I can only hope for more!
    Penderwicks growing up
Would you consider the audio edition of The Penderwicks in Spring to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the printed version so I cannot say
What other book might you compare The Penderwicks in Spring to and why?
It's similar to the other penderwick books of course.
Also a lot like the "and then there were four" I don't remember the author...
What about Susan Denakers performance did you like?
She has read all of the penderwicks and I always found that she reads each sister in a specific and very fitting way
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried most of the time! But I also re-listened to it more that 12 times already! :)
    Any additional comments?
This was a hard one. A lot of the first time I listened to the book I spend crying. This was unexpected as the other books are mostly happy stories about summer and girls growing up.
But here Batty faced what I hoped she would never have to face, and yet it was done wonderfully.

Made out of scrap metal and old bicycle parts, William's windmill would bring electricity to his home and help his family pump the water they needed to farm the land.
Retold for a middle grade audience, this inspiring memoir shows how, even in a desperate situation, one boy's brilliant idea can light up the world.
    Critic Reviews:
"Speaking in accented English, narrator Korey Jackson captures the lighthearted tone as William describes his early life in a remote Malawian village.... Korey Jackson succeeds in portraying Kamkwamba as the affable and motivating young man that he is." (AudioFile)

Best book I've read in awhile.
Loved the book. Great narrator. An inspiration to everyone with dreams. I will definitely recommend this book to my students.
    kids loved it
We listened to this on a long car drive and my 9 and 11 year old loved it. It was engaging, educational, inspiring and enjoyable. It fostered genuine compassion for the "starving people in Africa" and made us grateful for electricity, running water, plenty of food, and the opportunity for a good education. my kids say they hate reading and I keep telling them that if you embrace books and make them your friends, you can do anything. This book gave that idea flesh and bones.
    inspiring
the struggles we're real but he endured the pain and kept fighting to the very end
    Inspiring Novel
The overall message of this novel inspires me to recommit myself to my dreams and aspirations. Trial, error and disappointments are not the end, but the beginning of discovery. I will use the sentence, "If you want to make it, all you have to do is try" as my motivation. I enjoyed the book.
I can not recommend this book enough!
This is the first review Ive ever felt compelled to actually write for Audible. As a homeschool mom of two boys, ages 8 & 10, this was just the most wonderful story. It was an eye (or ear) opening description full of REAL life struggle (far from the privileged expanse of the United States), a superb example of sheer grit and determination, science and innovation, and what can happen when you keep trying for your dreams, even if its difficult. I oftentimes find it hard to really explain to my boys how easy they have things, and how good their life is, and this was a favorite listen for all of us. And we listen to lots of audiobooks on our weekly car trips! Highly recommend. It was also beautifully narrated. Two thumbs up!

Good story, some narration needs work
My kids love this story. I do too but one of the narrators uses a lisp whenever he narrates his experience of one of the female characters or a weaker male character and that narration is nothing short of offensive and really difficult to listen to; it actually ruined some of the story for me. The other narrators' performances are wonderful.
    Good book, terrible ending.
I can't belive that's how it ends. That's one way to sell more books. Of course I will have to buy the next one, or should I say the rest of the story.
    Love this book.
I LOVE this book. It's a cliffhanger at every turn and I couldn't stop listening to it. I will be moving right on to the sequel, which will probably better. This book will surprise you at every turn!
awesome a juvenile John Grisham wonderful
I really enjoyed this it was a little slow at first but the ending is absolutely Spectacular Now I have to read the next one
Highly recommend to all 10 years olds!
If you could sum up Masterminds in three words, what would they be?
    Amazing! Spectacular! Unbelievable!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Masterminds?
This is my son's 3rd book by Korman. He first read 'Ungifted' a few years ago and then recently decided to read it again. He loved it all over again. So I then bought him 'Schooled' and he read it straight through and wanted to retart it again right away. I decided to look for more Korman books after that and he picked this one. In my 10 year old's own words, "The book is amazing." "The adventure is spectacular --and you won't believe what happens in the story!" He woke up very early this morning to continue reading. At about 8:00 am. he came bounding into my bedroom to tell me an unbelievable plot twist! -Very exciting!! He can't wait to start the second book in this series.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The multiple voices help to make the story more vivid in my son's imagination.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Best story ever!

    Publisher's Summary:
From John Flanagan, author of the worldwide best-selling Ranger's Apprentice - an all-new adventure featuring the Brotherband crew and one of our favorite Rangers!
Fresh off of victory over their longtime nemesis, Tursgud, Hal and the Herons, summoned by King Duncan, set sail for Castle Araluen. Thrust into the dangerous world of Araluen, the Herons learn of a threat to Queen Evanlyn and whispers of a deadly sect known as the Scorpion Cult. Rumors say that Iqbal, who previously tried to assassinate Evanlyn at her wedding to Horace, might be planning another attempt. Not waiting to see if the knife will strike true, the Herons join forces with Gilan and his fellow Rangers to track down the would-be assassins.
In this fifth book in the Brotherband Chronicles, old friends re-emerge to take on new enemies as the worlds of Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband join forces! Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, T.H. White's The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini's Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Good story, but please respect your readers
Honestly, I do like this series and this book, but this author is becoming annoyingly repetitive, to the point of insult. He always spells out a reference to a past event, as though we cannot remember, or didn't read the prequels, or the original series Ranger's Apprentice (from which this series flows). To me, it feels condescending, and disruptive to the scene.
    For example:
During their recent voyage to Socorro, they had blundered into shoal waters... (duh. How could we forget such a major event in book 4? So why stop the dialogue to insert this authorial aside?)
Also, Flanagan reminds us for the nth time that egalitarian Skandians don't address leaders with honorifics (your majesty, your lordship, etc). We are told this several times in this book -- regarding King Duncan and Wakir Selethen -- and numerous times in varied books in both series.
Another example: Flanagan stops the scene to remind readers when Gilan had already met Wakir Selethen. Then he stops another scene to remind us about when Gilan met the Bedouin leader from the Ranger's Apprentice series.
There are more examples, but nuff said.
Other than this, the story is quite engrossing and the writing quality is solid. I appreciate Flanagan's sense of humor, word play (Phillip Pussyfoot), and knowledge of sailing and battle strategy. Of course, the characters and their developing characterization is one of Flanagan's major strengths. The scene between the twins Wulf and Ulf is poignant. The scenes with Ingvar are heartwarming and amusing. Thorn is always a big hit, too.
But ... we never find out what happened to the galley slaves after they carried out their promise. I wanted to see how Selethen treated them.
    very good listen as usuall
I like these books by John flannegan because of rich story and characters. and as they are written for a younger audience they are clean and i can miss a bit of them while driving and not feel like i have to rewind it.
    great all the way around.
the horse dog is my hero. great read and or listen for all ages. thanks
    Fast-pace and Hard Hitting!
Flanagan gives us another story that takes the Brotherband to an unknown area where they grow as individuals, as a team and still are able to show why they are the best.
