    Death at the Church
Pretty good story. I started with book 8 and i feel I would have a better understanding of the characters if i had started from the beginning but still good story. Narration was good. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
    Very enjoyable series
This is the second book written by Laura Carr that I listen to and enjoyed it very much. Great mystery, mixed with love, suspense and laugh. I appreciate the fact that there is no filthy language. Well written books dont need it! Thank you so much, Laura!
CJ McAllister, as usual, surpassed my expectations with his outstanding narration! Cant wait to listen to another book that he narrates!

    Great Book!!!
This is the first in the series that I have read. It is a great book. Can't wait to get the rest. I was well written. It has great twist and turns along with humor. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great mystery
    Great series!! Very enjoyable
    Any additional comments?
    4.5 stars
I really enjoy this series. Great stories with great narration. This book just like the rest of the series is definitely worth your time and credit. Even though this is the 8th book in the series, it's my 4th in the series overall. Even though I have listened to them out of order that hasn't effected my enjoyment of any of the stories. This story is no different it's just as well written, interesting, intriguing and entertaining as the rest of the books in the series. The story pulls you in immediately and holds your attention from start to finish.
Once again Mac Faraday and the rest of the group are faced with another murder and the mystery surrounding it. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems when Mac and his team are involved. There is more going on in this book than just one murder mystery.

    Who Done it
I love the the story line. The characters were great and the author had you wondering who could have done it. This was my first book in this series and i would do more of these stories. My problem is the narrator. I had a hard time distinguishing the different characters from each other. Especially the female parts. He did not seem to try an do a feminine voice. I have listen to a lot of male narrators do female parts very well. I feel this type of book is not for Brad. However, his voice would be great in a urban fantasy. He has a great voice for those types of books. Just needs to work on changing up the voices for different characters, Back to the book. I received this book free for an honest opinion. I would like to read more in this series.
    Not Bad
The book could use a better narrator. That causes me to pause when listening to it. The voice was not very good. The book had a good plot and was well developed. Enjoyed the book overall.
    Passable
Would you try another book from Elaine L Orr and/or Brad C. Wilcox?
Based on this one book that I listened to, I am unable to make an opinion about the author. The book was fine and the writing style was alright. One thing I didn't like about the book is that even though it is marketed as a standalone book in a series, I felt like I am missing things about the main character and it is not properly introduced. I would guess because that is already done in the first book, the author didn't feel the need to do the same in book 2 too, which is understandable. But I wish there was some more "recap" kind of passage where new readers would get to know the character first.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narration was sub-par. All the characters sounded the same and it was very difficult to tell who's who.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    No.

A found a new series and a new narrator!
I enjoy mystery books that have great suspense, good writing, and are light and funny with a hint of darkness. I have exhausted Molly Harper books, Diana Rowland books and Jesse Petesen books. Those books all have a supernatural twist (although Harper's Rythm and Bluegrass series is normal). This series is very comparable to those minus the supernatural. The author is witty and the plot is fun. It is well-written with great suspense and a satisfying ending. The character are well-developed and likable. The narrator is excellent and a perfect match for the main character. She performs each of the other characters with aplomb.
The strength of this book is the original plot idea and the situational comedy. Having an adult go undercover to a university and live in the dorms provides for hilarious situations. It is made believable by the fact that a large donor requests that Josie be assigned to the case and that she is a licensed, if inexperienced private detective. The way colleges cover up crimes (rape, theft, corruption) is well-known, so this is very believable.
The main character is a lovable but grouchy character--the kind of role usually reserved for men like Al Bundy, Jay Pritchett (same guy, updated character), Archie Bunker, Frazier and Walter Mattau. She is like Sue Slyvester in Glee but nicer. Her old friends and the new friends that she forms into a "Scobbie" sort of gang are delightful. One of the funniest scenes is when she realizes that her college crew isn't familiar with the "Scobbie Doo" show and one of the kids refers to Shaggy as a hipster. He doesn't know the difference between a hipster and a real hippy. Later in the conversation, it is revealed that they are confusing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" with "Twilight." Josie responds by requiring that they all come over to a mandatory "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" binge watching session at the conclusion of the case because she is worried about their lack of cultural knowledge. This is a great book.
I received this book for free from the author, narrator, or pubisher in exchange for an honest review.
    A fun college cozy
This was a cute cozy mystery on a college campus. So the main character Josie is an adult but is voluntold to help figure out a stalker mystery of a professor on campus. The professor is kind of a cocky jerk with some unethical habits. As she is trying to masquerade as a student, live in the dorms, and eat the atrocious cafeteria food provided she stumbles into another seemingly unrelated mystery. With her band of scoobies they try and figure out what is going on. This was a light fun cozy. The narrator did a great job with all of the characters. Having never listened to the series before, I realized there must have been another book before this that could possibly better explain the character's past, but as a stand alone it was good.

    Complex, interesting story
Enjoyed the story. Got annoyed with the emphasis on theOCD counting rituals, got the point after listing to the count from 100 two times.
    Good Who Done it??
I enjoyed this book, and as others have said is a good cosy thriller, I liked the main characters, both had disabilities, Gregg has OCD and finds it hard to leave his house without checking and Beth has CP so to trying to solve who is murdering Greggs neighbours is no easy task for these two good guys, lots of good twists in this book, you think you know who did it and then that person dies too so you're back to square one trying to figure out who did it?
I thought that Helen Clapp the narrator did the book justice and I would defiantly read another book by John Bown, this book is a good read and little bit quirky to keep your attention and wanting more.
    Good, different and engaging
    Any additional comments?
My first book by John, an audio book offered for an honest review.
This is a great book, there are so many books out there on the market that are detective/crime novels and they are all very similar, but this one is different, first of all it is a who dunnit, but you dont have a damaged detective with a past who is dealing with his or her own problems but real life people, ok, so these people also have their problems but the whole story if different, fresh and very good.
I really enjoyed the background details of both Greg, who is dealing with OCD and Beth who is dealing with cerebral palsy, the author has written great details and both characters have come alive and they both make a great team.
This is an intriguing book, very engaging and enjoyable. Highly recommended and well worth the read.
Great audio version of this book
If you could sum up Death Stalks Kettle Street in three words, what would they be?
    interesting, heartwarming, mystery
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
yes - not sure where it was going or who done it till the very end
Which character as performed by Helen Clapp was your favorite?
    Greg
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Accidents aren't always an accident
    Any additional comments?
Great audio version of this mystery book - nice way to enjoy the story having someone else read it to you.
    A masterclass within a story
Really enjoyed this. The two quirky main characters are flawed like all of us. The story kept me guessing who the killer was right up till near the end.

What fun! Yes, it is a murder mystery, but it is so much more! You don't need to have read any other books by this author to thoroughly enjoy this one, but I'll bet that you will want to. I don't want to revisit the publisher's blurb nor do the spoiler thing, but I think anybody will enjoy all of the interesting characters and the uncommon setting of the rural town of Nairobi at the turn of the last century. The dialog had me snurfling my caffeine! There is a bit of sadness here and there, but it is still one of the best escape reads available.
Alison Larkin gives a marvelous performance as audio interpreter leaving no doubt as to which character is speaking.

    Fun read
    Not Much Here
While what there was of it was not bad this was a short story. Good concept but not a lot of it. The page count on amazon is mostly filler for other books and a complete novel from another series. So if you want to read what amounts to a teaser short and a completely different book then this should fill the bill. 70 percent of the book is other material.
So how about the story at hand. Pretty predictable with some unexplained magic thrown in here and there. Basically only minimal character development. This installment ends in pretty much a cliffhanger. I will be passing on this one in the future.
    Magical
Maeve O'Dare was spurned by her boyfriend Frank, got fed up with the Hollywood scene, and took off looking for a new place to start over. When she finds herself in Wisteria Pines, her luck seems to change. She makes friends with the town gossip, finds the perfect building to rent for her dream cafe, Listen: Itâs old Fashioned, and is adopted by a stray dog. Even when she drops the dog off at the shelter an hour away and goes about her business, life is good. Why? The dog escapes (accidentally letting a black cat loose as well) and finds his way back to her house where he is devoted to her. Of course there is a teensy problem in this new idyllic life, while at a celebration in the park to try and convince the building owners to rent to her, a woman who is her rental competition is poisoned. And the police are asking an awful lot of questions about Maeve!
When Maeve discovers the dog (who has been named Wanda by a young girl) at her house, she rethinks the no dog decision and lets her stay. Much to Maeve's surprise, Wanda seems to understand everything she says, and frequently nods her head as an answer to Maeve.

Shady Place is a retirement community in Florida with some quirky inhabitants. Newcomer, Jim Phillips, a retired detective who is still trying to get over the death of his wife, is grumpy and stubborn but has a soft center. I loved Jim. His interactions with Mike kept me amused throughout. These two have history, and now, on top of their past issues, they are both vying for the affection of the very seductive Beverly while trying to investigate several mysterious deaths within their community.
This was a light, cozy mystery in which guessing who the murderer was, wasn't particularly difficult but I don't think it was meant to be either. The mystery felt like a minor point along the way at times. It was a lovely, cute story about friendships and starting anew. Perhaps a little slow moving at times and not very suspenseful, it was still an entertaining listen with interesting, likable characters and plenty of humor. A good pick if you enjoy fun, cozy mysteries without too much drama and like characters who are a little more mature. I believe this is David A. Byrne's debut work and as such, it is an accomplished piece of writing. The descriptive passages make it easy to imagine the locations and scenes in your head.
The narrator, Nik Magill, did a nice job with the various accents but I would have appreciated a bit more variation between the male characters' voices. However, he won me over with his enthusiastic style. It is easy to become involved in the story when it is narrated with such passion and Mr Magill really seemed to enjoy the story and himself. This was my first time listening to any of his work and I would certainly try another book by this narrator.
There were no issues with the production of the audio.

    Susan McBride delivers again
I really like Susan McBride. She consistently gives us characters who are 3-D. They become family and we care about them. Are they perfect people? Nope! They have human frailties but their true hearts are obvious. That makes them more dear to us. I like Helen and all the folks in this little town. I look forward to visiting them again! Keep writing, Susan.
    Gotta read this!
Susan McBride does not disappoint! Another excellent installment in the river road mysyeries. Excitement, tender heartfelt moments, and scary mystery all tied up in this one. Super good!

This was a totally enjoyable mystery experience . It was fun to read and kept you guessing to the very end. Can't wait to read the next book .
Great stories within the book. Each has its own plot that weaves together to fill out what goes on in people lives and what happens within a small town. Th
Mysteries are first rate and character are well developed. The theme of friendship and trust are shown in several ways. A great read.
there are multiple little mysteries woven into the larger questions - a wonderfully engaging story
The first Iâve read in this series, I got to know several of the townspeople throughout the story: a small Illinois town on the Mississippi that is home to 200 people. Most elderly and all very active. Starting with Luann, the director of the townâs historical society, sheâs now feeling a loss of âsomethingâ and through an on-line site has met her Mr. Maybe. Sheâs soon disappeared, and is only texting her best friend Sarah and sheriffâs wife, that sheâs overjoyed, and has given up her job, apartment and any interest in staying around. Totally out of character, but at first, Sarah is the only one who thinks itâs wholly wrong.
Then there is Bernie and his wife Betty and sister-in-law Clara. Here is where real life invades the story with great poignancy and heart: Bernie is in the end stages of Alzheimerâs, and while Betty is caring for him at home, the ramifications for her and her family are great.

    Members Reviews:
    Great story!
This is the second of three audio books in the Lady Justice series I listened to back to back. The novel is about an Alaska 7 night cruise on a Holland America ship. There are two murders that protagonist Walt Williams and his merry band must find and the intended victims they must protect. On shore in Skagway there is also buried gold to be found. The novel is great fun and the narration is perfect.
Alaska Cruise, a REAL Top Chef and... Murders!
Would you listen to Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders again? Why?
This is THE legit question! As expensive as Recorded Audible books are, they should be "relistenable"! Good News! The Lady Justice series including "Cruise Ship Murders" are creative enough and performed well enough to fit the bill!
What did you like best about this story?
It incorporates "real life" references and people. For example, real life Top Chef Marcus Sammuelson actually did a stint on cruise ships. He is mentioned, certain aspects of towns and cities in Alaska. Airline travel nightmares!. Lol
Which character as performed by George Kuch was your favorite?
Walt, the main character. But I have to say how much fun George Kuch brings to the whole performance! This is a very good series and George's performance elevates it even higher!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
You will want to, but my suggestion is to savor it.
    Any additional comments?
I step away after each listening to the Lady Justice books so pleased at how entertaining they are. I appreciate the characters, the plot and stories, the humor...
I'm looking forward to more entries in the ongoing series! I have most of the works as Kindle editions and have listened and reviewed all of the Audible versions thus far.
Thanks for the opportunity to listen and offer my opinions on this work!
A review copy was gifted to me at no charge. In return, I am happy to provide an honest review. Also at no charge.
    Cruising with Goldrush History
Robert Thornhill's shtick is educating through the craft of storytelling. He doesn't fail in this installment, giving us a well-limned backdrop of Alaska and the Pacific. Thornhill steers away from politics, food and drugs this time, and takes a refreshing and historical detour to the gold rush. Along the way, he divvies out tips and tricks of cruising.
I didn't find the guest characters as interesting as those presented in previous installments. Also the believability factor took a dip. Still, Thornhill does not disappoint, even giving a not so subtle but all appropriate shoutouts to an Alaskan cruise ship captain and Master Chef Marcus Samuelsson. Eating the celebrity chef's signature fare must indeed have been a treat for Thornhill and his wife during their real-life cruise.
