    A good mystery!!
I enjoy Caroline Fardig's writing style, and how her characters aren't always clothes horses describing their shoes and outfits ad nauseum. They are real people who have self-confidence issues, doubts about boyfriends, tempers, and all the emotions that go with those. It makes it easy to start thinking of Juliet as a friend, not a fictional character. Along with her, it is always interesting to see how best friend and Java Jive owner Pete is going to react. In this third book of the series, Juliet has quite a few boyfriend issues, and all of a sudden you realize most of her friends really are guys. It was nice that she got to meet a couple gals close in age, and thus give her the new experience of having some girlfriends. That sure came in handy when the chips were down!
There are some real surprises in this book, and an inkling of what is to come next for her. It is a fun read, and I enjoyed every aspect of this well paced book. Of course if you haven't read the first two books in the series, you really should read those before reading this one. Otherwise an awful lot of references aren't going to make any sense to you! Also that way you will have 3 times the fun! I see another book is coming out out in a few months, so you might want to get started right away! I am looking forward to what happens next!
    Delightful
Clever little mystery with a bit of romance rolled in, perfect for a snowy afternoon. Java Jive books are always fun.
    Too many receipes.
Receipes are a pain . Too many- and too many in the wrong places. So much for those receipe mysteries.
Great follow up to the first book.
Juliet is s great character and Peat is the perfect boss/best friend. I'm hooked on the Java Jive mysteries and I'm ordering the next one as we speak.
Entertaining and enjoyable . Looking forard to reading anoth of Fardig s books!
Looking forward to reading another of FArdings books .
They are entertaining and fun to read. The caracters are well defined. Reay enjoy the mystery!

    Short, clever, fun
Rosalinda Alameda is a Puerto Rican who moved to Massachusetts to attend college, and instead her life went sideways because of an ill-judged marriage. Now 50, working in a veterinarian's office, and living in Boston, she enjoys visiting the Franklin Park Zoo. This is a mystery short story set at the zoo. In this outing, she notices something odd about the peacocks, and meets some of the zoo staff and volunteers. For such a short story, it's hard to say much more without spoilers. However, I like Rosalinda, and I think some of those she meets along the way will be likable and/or interesting as the series continues.
    Short, clever, and enjoyable.

Not sure, just definitely not my cup of tea
What could Gillian Larkin have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I think t might have been more palatable with a different narratoir
How did the narrator detract from the book?
accents, dialects etc. too over the top
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Murder in the Flower Beds?

I received this audio book freely from the author, narrator, or publisher and am freely offering my personal, unbiased and honest opinion and review
Short and Sweet English murder mystery
What made the experience of listening to Murder in the Flower Beds the most enjoyable?
This was a fun and lighthearted mystery with some quirky characters, plot twists and a touch of comedy.
    Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was when the ladies in line for the book signing realized that the new book they were standing in line for was NOT a cookbook as expected. The reaction of the senior adult ladies in line was spot on and exactly how I would imagine they would react!

    cute cozy mystery
I was gifted this audio ARC from the author/Narrator for a honest and unbiased review
This is a good, clean, fun read...just the right length and interest for a read/listen to before bed...
Gillian Larkin did a good job writing this book. Sheree Wichard did a good job with narrating this book.
There is one thing I find with all cozy mysteries not just this one is the police end up looking like idots especially when a civilian gets more information on the case than the police
    This is a must
    review
I just couldn't get into this book. I thought Sheree did a good job at the narrative but I found the story boring. I really stuggled with trying to finish but I did finish. I was gifted the book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.
    Very entertaining narration

    Publisher's Summary:
Ever since the cops revoked his private investigator's license, Charlie Bradshaw has been adjusting to life as a regular senior citizen. But reading, sitting around the house, and making amateur home repairs is a far cry from his past life as Saratoga Springs' most successful everyman detective.
So when Charlie discovers the sprawled corpse of Saratoga Springs' biggest nuisance on his sidewalk, the ex-P.I. is torn. Should he risk asking questions of his own, knowing he could easily be prosecuted for doing P.I. work without a license? Or should he avoid the trouble and spend his twilight years in peace? Well, the case was practically delivered to his doorstep.
    Members Reviews:
    I really like his poetry
I really like his poetry. I had read a couple of Bradshaw mysteries many moons ago and, well, perhaps my memory misled me, but I was disappointed at how pedestrian this one is.
    Charlie Bradshaw is back!
Everything Dobyns writes is gold, but the Charlie Bradshaw mysteries are are especially welcomeâan Everyman detective, decent and honourable, whose curiosity and urge to do the right thing drive these stories.
Age has slowed, but not stopped Charlie Bradshaw
I read several of the Charlie Bradshaw Saratoga mysteries way back when and liked them a lot but somehow lost track of them. I wish I had read the intervening books as I had forgotten much of what I knew about many of the characters who appear to be staples in the series. Charlie is much older now, married with three stepdaughters. His ongoing meddling in police business, which I did remember, has ended with him losing his P.I. license and pistol permit. He is supposed to a regular retired senior citizen but a case lands in his driveway one night. One of his most obnoxious acquaintances is dead with a cut throat and a severed tongue. Since Charlie thinks that the victim, Mickey Martin, could only have been coming to see him he wants to know what's up. It appears that a serial murderer is on the loose, and Charlie may be a target.
Saratoga Payback is very entertaining, if somewhat slow-paced until the nail-biting end. There is a lot of humor involving Charlie's trying to stay under the police radar and the ravages of age. I had not met his wife Janey before but there is one particularly hilarious passage in which she gives Charlie's nemesis on the force a memorable dressing down. Things really get serious before the end and Charlies fears the loss of not only his life but those of his family and friends. Since the series is set in Saratoga Springs, horses and a horse theft ring are also involved. I was thoroughly entertained and plan to get caught up on Charlie Bradshaw.
I received Saratoga Payback through the First to Read Program. The opinions above are my own.
A crime novel that delivers a million laughs
This was my first experience with he Charlie Bradshaw series and I came to it rather late in the protagonist's life. Charlie is a forcibly-retired ex-cop and PI who has cut a few corners in his day to solve a crime or two. Now a senior citizen with no set routine, he is bored and restless.

    Murder again?
Murder seems to find a pathway to Amelia. Not only another murder she finds her a book of shadows written mostly in Latin while planting a rose bush. She recites one of the spells and because of a misspelled word, she summons an entity she thought was demon but he calls himself Fred and is her assistant. After this the murder happens.. She worries she is the cause of Scott Planks, town planner, murder. She thought of how she would like to kill him because he was being so nasty to her and then he dies in her shop. But there's always more to be done - such as prepping for the annual 5K Race organized by Pete's snobby socialite girlfriend, Cecilia Hollingsworth. This year, Java Jive has a booth right at the finish line, and since Juliet and Cecilia don't always see eye to eye, everything has to be perfect. Nothing can go wrong. But there isn't enough espresso in the world for the greatest challenge in her path: infiltrating Nashville's high society to uncover the hidden hotbed of scandal without running afoul of the law herself. With her last dime staked on Pete's bail bond and her staff growing jittery, the last thing Juliet needs is for her trademark temper to land her behind bars. As time drips away, Juliet needs to crack this case before the killer comes back for another shot.

    Too dumb to live...
If you could sum up Mug Shot in three words, what would they be?
    Cute but unbelievable.
What was most disappointing about Caroline Fardigs story?
I really liked the premise, and the story was engaging, but it's hard to believe any protagonist could be this slow to figure things out. And her choices about men are abysmal. I also thought there would be more recognizable about Nashville, but apparently she has fictionalized pretty much everything, including the name of the local newspaper.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Sure.
    Any additional comments?
In spite of all the above, I did enjoy the book, and will probably read the next one. :-)
    2 and a half stars
I should have read the review I wrote for the last book. Juliet is still annoying and immature. The story drags on for too long before it is resolved. I probably won't get the next book.

As her mother's wedding draws closer, Anne begins to harbor a creeping suspicion that all is not well at Belrose Abbey.
    Members Reviews:
    Book 1
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It has a very dark but had all the ingredients for a gothic romance novel. There were some untied ends so I will have to wait for the next one in this series. Good narration.
A cozy mystery with a paranormal touch
Some time after her husbands death, Dauphine has decided to remarry. The groom, Ivan Helsburg, is an old fashioned Hungarian who is stinking rich and lives in Belrose Abbey, a great mansion in the middle of nowhere. Dauphine and her daughter Anne move to the Abbey some days before the wedding, just to find a dark and somber place with mysterious servants and secret passages. Soon after their arrival mother and daughter find out that there was a previous Mrs. Helsburg, but what happened to her?
I always love a good cozy mystery to rest from other harder listens. This one is quite short, ideal to listen from beginning to end on the same day. I felt something unnatural in all the mystery surrounding Ivan and the Abbey. Paranormal is not my favorite genre, but the story trapped me in a way that I could not stop listening. The atmosphere of the Abbey is very well described, and the feelings of the characters seem so real that I was almost able to smell the dusty passages they had to traverse.
Chapters are narrated from the point of view of either Dauphine or Anne. To make things clear, each is preceded by the name in question. I found this made the story easy to follow. Somehow, even despite the age difference, I found myself connecting to the teenage daughter more thsn to Dauphine. Anne is clever and resolute, and the heroin in this book; while Dauphine is severely damaged by her past and weak to the point that I wanted to shake her and tell her to open her eyes.
I found the setting and events really intriguing, and the characters very well pictured. The characters feel like real people, and each one of them is very well defined.
I had the impression that the story had a paranormal touch, but in the end it did not show up. I am not sure if it will be like this on future books, I am curious to find out.
There is a long build up, reveling pieces of the mystery. This kept me interested and intrigued, but I felt the end a bit rushed and anticlimactic. It could be that I expected something more due to that paranormal touch, and the end eliminated any possibility of supernatural forces behind the Abby mysteries. Still, I think there are still a lot of unrevealed mysteries that will show up in future installments.
My main reason for listening to this book was that it is narrated by Michelle Babb. Apart from Cozy Mystery is also considered YA, and with this genre I tend to tread carefully, since they do not always fulfill my expectations.

    Lady Justice
What made the experience of listening to Lady Justice and the Vigilante the most enjoyable?
This is a great audiobook and just as good as the other Lady Justice books. This was the 7th book in the series. It is a fast paced mystery/comedy with lots of twists and turns. Walt and his group are amazing and funny. So far I am enjoying this series.
Good book that left me wanting more
I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the performance. I would of liked to have a sequel to this book but I don't think the ending allowed for that outcome. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a book that has good characters and is light reading.
I agreed to give an unbiased review in exchange for receiving this audiobook from Audiobook Boom.
    Timely yet very funny!
mystery, vigilantism, humor, law enforcement, criminal injustice system
The good, the bad,and the irate. A very timely mystery which addresses the dissatisfaction of some with the criminal justice system and the need to protect the rights of all citizens, even the unrepentant guilty. As always, there is enough comic relief and reminders of the humanity of law enforcement, lawyers and judges, and members of the general public. Warning: This book will make you think! I really enjoyed it! The interjection of Ox's change in personal life is great fun.
George Kuch continues to be the perfect match for Walt and the gang.
    Another Winner!
Again this author covered a thought provoking yet controversial topic of vigilantism. Sometimes it seems the system works against the victims. This book provided another perspective.
    Book #7
Book #7 in the Lady Justice series and they just keep getting better. They are always fun with a little moral teaching and a lot of humor. Great series and I have enjoyed listening to them on Audible. George Kuch does a great job with the narration too. This was a gift with the understanding I would leave an honest review.

A Fun Romp of Serious Introspection
This installment of The Lady Justice Series delivers another fun romp of introspection. It takes talent to combine a serious and controversial subject like euthanasia with humor, but Robert Thornhill pulls it off without a hitch. Again he blends entertainment and awareness like a smoothie that is both yummy AND healthy. Bravo.
With all due respect to most your characters being a humorous study in stereotypes, one or too characters seem a bit over-stereotyped, and I find myself momentarily removed from the story. IMHO, these perceived "glitches" detract from the story and blemish the intended humor.
George Kuch IS Walt. Enough said.

A serious subject with a humorous twist
    law-enforcement, humor, human-rights, series
This is a hard review for me to write without promoting the view that I share with so many experienced nurses and other care givers. The book is excellent, a wake up call to most people, suspenseful, and full of humor. The publisher's blurb gives you the basics, and there is no need for spoilers, but the issue of death with dignity when there is no real medical hope is handled with great sensitivity and clarity.

    Very Enjoyable!
Both the narrator and author are very talented. This is the second book that I have listened to and I loved it! I love the subtle humor in the stories. Although this book is part of a series it is also a standalone. Part of the book brings back some nostalgic memories and part of it is very thought provoking. I look forward to listening more on this series. I was voluntarily provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator.

The author did a good job telling a story dealing with a tough subject. I'm glad he didn't get preachy. I really like the narrator. He is one of my favorites. I received this audiobook for free from the author for my unbiased review.
