    Title: The Kid
Subtitle: A Reed & Billie Novel, Book 3
    Author: Dustin Stevens
    Narrator: Scott R. Smith
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 2 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 12-29-17
    Publisher: Dustin Stevens
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
What do you do when somebody targets one of your own?
Alone on the couch one night, Reed and his partner are both summoned to the hospital to find two of their colleagues have been viciously attacked, left for dead on the side of the road with very little evidence to go on.
With emotions high and the entire department vowing revenge, Captain Grimes assigns the case to Reed and Billie, offering them any resources available in finding the culprit. What at first seemed just an isolated incident soon begins to spiral as more bodies are found, strewn across the greater Columbus area from Grove City to New Albany.
Each victim appears to be somehow linked to the law enforcement community, though how or why they have been chosen continues to elude Reed as he is joined on the case by Cassidy Glenn from the state's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Together, they work their way from one scene to the next, piecing together what seems to be driving this perpetrator in their vendetta, hoping to bring things together enough to get out ahead of them before anybody else falls victim.

    A wasted opportunity.
2 stars for an intriguing premise squandered by the author. This being the 3rd book in the series, Iâve assumed most of you reading the reviews are familiar with the main characters and skipped over them.
Once again Reed & Billie are chasing a devious killer, this time assisted by Cassidy Glenn, an investigator from another law enforcement agency. Her character is undeveloped, a cardboard cutout apparently included solely to allow the author to pad the book with extraneous scenes and dialog. Other, peripheral, characters are nothing short of caricatured stereotypes.
This is, at best, a so-so novella tediously stretched to novel length. For example, in one scene (representative of many) we follow Reed, Billie, & Glenn down a set of stairs to a courthouse basement used for file storage, then follow them around storage area as they look for a file. It took 4 (Kindle) pages to find the file. Seriously. âNuff said? You should skip book and hope the next one is better.
    Another great story.
I really enjoy these Reed & Billie books. From the first book the character development between Reed and his new partner Billie has grown into a strong bond of trust and respect. I've always loved dog books and detective/mysteries but many times when combined the story seems kind of lame to me, but not with this series. The dog/detective team really works and seems authentic to me. All the books are action packed and draws me right in from the beginning. I'm getting ready to read book 4 in the series The Partnership.
I also appreciate the free book download at the end of the story. Thank you.
    Love this team
A dog lover. I love this story of a K-9 partner. I most especially appreciate that the dog does not get killed. I can handle Mysteries in which humans get killed but I hate it when innocent animals get killed. This is a fabulous read keeps you on the edge of your seat reading all night. I admire this other and enjoy his books greatly. This particular book was well-thought-out with a wide variety of characters and you actually felt sorry for the poor perpetrator as well as his victims.
    Interesting & holds your interest.
Enjoyed this one, as I did "The Good Son". The characters were well developed, the story moved along and didn't get bogged down.

    All-Time Favorite Story
Would you listen to If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him again? Why?
I probably will listen to it again because I love the narrator. The book became a favorite of mine since it was published. McCrumb's characters are so true to life, and she's dealing with women's issues that are usually not mentioned in 'polite' society.
What was one of the most memorable moments of If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him?
When Elizabeth reveals the fate of the original Todhunter that started all the repercussions. Well researched and absolutely true to the time she's considering.
Which character as performed by Barbara Rosenblat was your favorite?
Elizabeth McPherson is such a sympathetic character in all her grief and trials. She grows in understanding in the book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The first time I read it, I laughed so hard I cried. Some of the circumstances struck a note in my own past.
    Any additional comments?
I'm so glad Audible keeps my purchases in a Cloud Library. I can listen to them again and again. By the way, my paperback copies were worn out and drenched with bath water, soda, and coffee.

  • Agatha Raisin: The Witches' Tree Audiobook by M. C. Beaton
Please open https://hotaudiobook.com ONLY on your standard browser Safari, Chrome, Microsoft or Firefox to download full audiobooks of your choice for free.
Title: Agatha Raisin: The Witches' Tree
    Subtitle: Agatha Raisin, Book 28
    Author: M. C. Beaton
    Narrator: Penelope Keith
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 33 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-23-17
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 8 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Cotswolds inhabitants are used to inclement weather, but the night sky is especially foggy as Rory and Molly Devere, the new vicar and his wife, drive slowly home from a dinner party in their village of Sumpton Harcourt. They strain to see the road ahead - and then suddenly brake, screeching to a halt. Right in front of them, aglow in the headlights, a body hangs from a gnarled tree at the edge of town. Margaret Darby, an elderly spinster, has been murdered - and the villagers are bewildered as to who would commit such a crime.
Agatha Raisin rises to the occasion (a little glad for the excitement, to tell the truth, after a long run of lost cats and divorces on the books). But Sumpton Harcourt is a small and private village, she finds - a place that poses more questions than answers. And when two more murders follow the first, Agatha begins to fear for her reputation - and even her life. That the village has its own coven of witches certainly doesn't make her feel any better....

    Woeful!
I have every Agatha Raisin audiobook that is narrated by Penelope Keith, and have greatly enjoyed the escapism and beautiful narration.
This book is just a mess. The once beautiful character interaction has become sour, and some personalities have completely changed. Agatha is lacklustre.
There are also so many editing errors. One example: after a conversation between Charles and Agatha regarding her having bought a car without Sat Nav, a little further on in the book Agatha is being directed by her Sat Nav. This is one of so many discrepancies. Also the main character Mrs Bloxbys first name has changed from Margaret to Sarah!
The narrative wanders off on irrelevancies that seem to have no point, or make any sense.
I forced myself to keep reading, although I was tempted to quit so many times. Please concentrate on writing the best of Agatha Raisin without rushing - perhaps two books a year is too many. Forget the amusing but lacking TV series, and go back to the intelligent writing of Agatha Raisins adventures.
At the beginning of the book I wondered why Penelope Keith didnt seem to have her heart and soul into the narration. Now I understand - imagine having to read this appalling book with gusto!
    Brilliant
I have waited so long for this book to come out and I was not disappointed. I can not wait for the next one. Fantastic story which gave me several giggles and Dame Penelope Keith is just awesome to listen to.
    Most Enjoyable
M C Beaton does it again. a thoroughly enjoyable read. A storey with good pace, twists and turns and the meticulous unearthing of the culprits. Agatha Raisen never disappoints.
Another good tale from M.C. Beaton.
Agatha and friends solve another murder mystery. All carried along at the usual pace with bodies and failed romances along the way. Most enjoyable. Roll on the next one, may she never age.
When is the next one coming out?
Penelope was wonderful, as usual. A joy to listen to.
Please, please, please M. C. Beaton, write some more!

    Before He Needs
Great story I really enjoyed it. The characters were believable and likable. My only angst was the narration. I don't think she has the right voice for this particular story.
I found her voice very irritating, hence the 4 stars.

    Good fun
I hate to give all fives but I've really gotten to love this series. The character are great, the stories keep getting funnier and the Narrator has gotten really good.
Avery Shaw 3 great books for 1 credit
Avery Shaw, now known as the famous newspaper reporter Avery Shaw, is up to her usual antics to get the scoop before anyone else. As usual, she puts herself in danger, gives Elliot heartburn, gets Jake and Derrick on scenes to her rescue and causes raucous within media ranks.
Avery is maturing where she is amenable to sharing information and contacting the police before releasing information.
The romances of our male characters still revolve around Avery, which emboldens her interference. Jake and Derricks girlfriends endures censor from Avery.
The Friday dinners are entertaining with the antics of grandpa, Averys mother and Avery and Derrick arguing over dinner.
At this point you are very familiar with the story. The best reason to buy this is because you get 3 books for 1 credit.

Story was confusing and until the last 2 books characters were also confusing. I think she should write it as her as a detective not a business owner. That all gets lost

    Great story, bad reading
I love these simple, easy stories in this series. You can really lose yourself in the tale. The reading, however, sounds like an auto reader combined with bits of actual narration inserted. It is extremely distracting. Before ordering the next in the series, I will surely listen to the sample. If it sounds the same, I will do some old-fashioned reading instead.

    Four Stars

    I miss the old Sharon
The series does not have the impact that the old one had. Sharon and Hy having all this wealth changes the tone of the story even if the writing is decent and the character development is well done. In this story, Sharon is focused on this one case and not any other work. The old excitement is gone.
Boring get the book from library and Save your money
The best that I can say about this book is that it is boring. Not a good summer read. If you are a Sharon McCone fan you will probably read it anyway. As for me, this is the last one. There better and more believable characters out there.
