Beneath the light of a full moon, the Nightbloods and Seers are dancing. They are dancing as they await another Awakening, a dream that defines every witch's destiny. It doesn't matter that the coven is cheering and anticipating her turn into womanhood, because Calli doesn't want any of it.

She doesn't want to see the face of the hired hand Isaiah, nor does she desire the pursuits of a very determined Nightblood as she runs from a future with the Ordinary help. She knows that regardless of whether she taps into forbidden magic or not, an Awakening is rumored to hold ultimate power over the Seer who dreams it.

While the other Seers her age are given to their parties, their enchantments, and the lust of Nightblood suitors, Calli must choose how she'll endure the worst of her visions. There may be a way to survive her sleep, but she's not sure she can defeat the truth that will find her when she's wide awake.

Does real love even stand a chance against the darkest of magic?

Beautifully written and well narrated story

Have you listened to any of Pamela Lorences other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first, but I will listen to her again.

Any additional comments?

The Short Life of Sparrows is beautifully written and is a breath of fresh air in the coming-of-age paranormal genre. Im gonna list this out, because lists. Love the lists.Things I loved about The Short Life of Sparrows:1. How this book has a dual narration, but the narrators are not the couple. They both have their own coming of age and love story.2. How the romance between our heroine and the boy was slow; how they infuriated each other with their antics, but eventually came to admit their feelings and had to change their impressions of themselves and each other.3. The friendship between our two narrators, and how they told each other all their secrets even though they only just met earlier that summer. 4. The surprises that were revealed in the latter part of the book. Some of these I really didnt see coming, and I enjoy a good twist or bombshell.5. How this story shows that peoples nature is what it is, and it cannot be changed. That you cannot change your destiny, even if other people meddle and manipulate your perceptions.6. The tragic beauty of the melancholy ending. The book has a HEA for our main couple, and yet, it comes on the heels of a tragedy I was not expecting, which cut deep.7. The book was beautifully written and very well narrated.I was provided a complimentary copy of this book via Audiobook Blast in exchange for my honest review.

The short life of sparrow

Any additional comments?

This is a good read. . Emm found a completely different approach on "witches and warlocks", but don't call them that. The story keeps you reading and won't let you put the book down until you are done. The best about the plot, quite a twist at the end, one I didn't see coming and I am usually rather good with that. Emm only reveals what she wants you to know.

Unique take on a witch's right of passage.

Any additional comments?

The Short Life of Sparrows is a great YA story that is unlike any witch or magic filled story I've ever read or listened to. It is well written with a plot that is both unique and intelligent.

Great

This book was actually good. I thought it was going to be boring. But it wasn't. Great story. I cracked up when she said naill was a hot bloody horse LMFAO.

And my guy "friend" said he wish he was a horse so he can sex a women like Naill. Talk about hilarious lmao.

But I definitely enjoyed this story. When I started I didn't want to stop listening to it. Definitely worth the read. Maybe thinking about reading the other stories to the series.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

I received a free audible copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is my first A.C. James book and I very much enjoyed it. It was also the first book I've ever read that involved pucas (or a horse shifter of any sort). I really enjoyed all of the particularities surrounding pucas and puca mating. I particularly enjoyed that the mate must be able to ride the stallion to be eligible as a mate (a.k.a. able to bear puca offspring). That added caveat of determining a true mate was also very interesting. Felicity is a strong, independent woman who, while self-conscious and with somewhat low self-esteem, she is comfortable in her own skin (she just doesn't think it possible for any man to find her truly attractive being a BBW). Cyn is her best friend, a plus size model, and her companion on her assignment to investigate the puca hauntings in the Aran Islands for her blog, Everyday Supernatural. Cyn is just along for the ride for a birthday get-away. Niall is a puca male who has never wanted a mate and only agrees to take one to keep his twin sister, Mariosa, out of a promised mating to another puca male who is, quite frankly, a complete jerk. He is sent across the veil to investigate why it is open before Sowen (and to find a human mate) along with his friend Thomas. The instant Felicity and Niall spot each other, they are enchanted, particularly Niall's stallion. This book covers Felicity and Niall's adventure as she shelves her blog assignment to help him investigate why the veil has been opened when it shouldn't have been (along with their budding romance). This book is intriguing with a story line that will pull you in. While this book is a culmination of the various parts of the Ride series, it also puts me in a good position to highly recommend these parts be read all together. Each individual part will leave you with only part of the story and a huge cliffhanger.

Fantastic delivery!

I have read this book when it first came out and now listened to it. Jamie Sara Lewis did a fantastic job delivering the story! Her use of accents, voice inflections and tone for each individual character helped bring the book alive without having to use several different narrators. The story was just as engrossing in audio form as it was in written and I look forward to listening to the 2nd book. Well done! I highly recommend the audio as well as the written!

Another good one

Just like the previous book in this series, it was not my favorite paranormal mm romance of all time, but it was definitely worth listening to.

I found this one easier to pay attention to, although I can't give any particular reason why. The writing was good and the pacing was well-done. I felt more emotion in this book than the previous. I still didn't fall in love with the characters. This makes for a great audiobook if you aren't easily distracted.

Peter Verbena did a great job. I could tell the characters apart, the voice was pleasant, and the pacing was comfortable. There was plenty of emotion in it, which is important for this genre.

Talk about a coming of age story... ...

Talk about a coming of age story.... Dylan and his patron Chris had been on the island for six months, for Dylan's transition from boy to man. Then, Dylan is given the task of selecting his future bride. So, he studies the small booklet of candidates and chooses the one whose smile, reflects exactly how he is feeling. When Sarah arrives, there is a small amount of weirdness in trying to get to know each other. They settle into a routine, the three of them sharing stories and laughs. The peace is broken after Sarah spots a boats with poacher in it, then comes the gunshots, Dylan and Chris are wounded. After everyone makes it back to their little cabin and wounds are dressed, there's nothing left to do but wait- wait until the poacher come back. Passion ignites between Dylan and Sarah, in the aftermath of the passing danger. But it's not over yet. When the poachers return, they come prepared and set a trap and catch Dylan and Sarah. It's up to Chris to save them.

AMY STAR HAS A NEW WAY TO LOOK AT SHIFTERS AND THEIR PROBLEMS.

This story kelp me reading straight through the whole book.It is different than other shifter books. They don't heal as fast,in bear form they don't seem to think as good as other books, they don't keep there bear powers as well. But it is a good story, because they have to deal with things without all of the normal strengths you normally expect. But you have a new way of training the shifter to use and control their new bear, which it seems they start shifting as adults and a new way to get a mate. But though the poachers, gun battles, everyone getting shot at least once, and at least 4 deaths in less than a month. You will find a sad,but a HEA all the same.I would read more by this author as this is the first book I have read of hers.

Language, people! (As in, pay attention to it!)

Let me first admit I did not finish this book. I almost gave myself whiplash shaking my head at some of the descriptions of things. (When I have to stop and think about the words used in a story, it kind of ruins the whole atmosphere.) Here are the greatest offenders: her jacket or shirt-I got distracted and didn't pay attention-was NAVY GREEN. Huh? Then we had what I assume was typo- her hair was an ebon turret (ebony, perhaps?).

Riley and Finn

I'm not a huge carny fan but I do love vampires. I liked this book and the main character. Riley and Finn were both great love interests. There could have been more character development though. I felt like everyone was one dimensional and would have loved to relate better. While a great book, some more development could have happened. Three glittery stars!

Definitely Twisted

This book was aptly named as "Twisted" from start to finish. Elizabeth was the odd man out in what had originally been planned for Sage Springs. Her desire to go somewhere she might be able to make friends and keep who she was a secret backfired in a big way. However, I loved how things worked out for her and Riley.

You'll love all the different twists in the story. Some so quickly hit that your head will spin and you'll be...."What just happened?" I highly recommend Marissa as a keeper for those who like it a little dark.

Good NA paranormal romantic suspense

I enjoyed this twist on the vampire genre. Young Elizabeth is a half vampire with some interesting talents who has moved across the country from her parents to go to college. There is a great deal of mysterious happenings at the small campus and Elizabeth finds herself in the middle of it all. With the traveling carnival in town to add more unusual characters, she is sucked into danger and sorcery, not academia.

The writing was good, no editing errors. I didn't feel as if I got to know Elizabeth or any of the characters very well because the plot was very fast paced.

There is one sex scene and some violence in this book. 3 stars

pleasantly surprised

Usually, I can figure out what happens next...I wasn't expecting the twist and turns in this book. It had me second guessing a couple of times(which I love!) It grabbed my attention right from the beginning and held it straight through. I can't wait to read book 2!

hard to put down

Loved it.. The story line grabbed me and I could not put it down! Am looking forward to the next book and others by this author

Bearly in the nick of time

I received this for an honest review. Just love Terreâs work. She is truly an amazing author.

I just loved how this book started out, just because I could see this happening to me..LOL Andrea Sloane finds herself taking in the mountain air when she comes crossed a bear. This bear wants her for a treat. She finds her life truly in danger to be mauled to death. She never would dream that another bear would come to her rescue.

Chase Hammer who is this sexy bear shifter billionaire finds his company in trouble. This guy by the name of Collin has plan to push Chase right out of the company. Chase needed some time to himself. He finds himself leaving New York and enjoying the nice mountain air of Boone. What he was not expecting was having to rescue a beautiful girl from a bear. Fate had to be on their side.

You will read this wonderful story how Chase meets and gets to know his fated mate. The questions is how will she except his bear? Will she connect the dots that the bear the kept the other bear from getting her and the man the saved her when she fell is the on and the same.

This is truly a heart felt story and loved every part.

nice twist

Nice story about a him needing space to think again, because his company is falling down around him, just being on time to rescue her falling to death.

The find each other soon after that and she isn't listening to the warnings of her parents. And what follows is a hot and steamy night at his place.

The next morning they go back to New York city because of his company.

I like the twist in what he does there a lot.

Why only 3 stars? Because one hot night together isn't enough. More would make this story even better.

A Twist

A sweet short story however I felt like I was on a roller coaster the whole time racing towards the end. Wish things had slowed down just a bit.

Excellent !!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters were exciting and very real. The story line was very much in the here and now. The writers did a great job.

Bear With Me

Short but Hot, Steamy, and WOW. From start to finish this story will have readers rushing to the end.

Good read

This is set during the French revolution and the writing gives a good feel for the uncertainty of the times.

FIRST BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR - VERY UNIQUE!

I started out almost not finishing this book, but I am glad I stuck with it. I loved the beginning and the end was fantastic. The middle really dragged on. I felt it could have been alot shorter and would improve my rating.

As I said the ending had so much suspense, twists, love, passion, had your heart racing, sometimes I couldn't believe where the author was taking us. Great imagination!!

I didn't realize until I was writing the review, that this is book 2 of the series, but I didn't feel lost in the least. There is lovemaking, which is mildly descriptive, but full of passion and love.

There isn't a cliffhanger, but if you want to know more about the chalice, and the people you met along the way, you will want to continue the series.

Just stick with it, because you will be rewarded. I bought this as a 12 book bundle with 12 different author's, for only $2.99 -well worth the price. (ljb)

magic has no bounds

What would you do if the people you loved were dying not because they had to but because they could no longer afford to live? What limit would you go to help them? Would you risk your life and lives of those around you to help so many survive? The questions all lead to what the characters here are willing to do. The main characters though a bit odd with their own hidden mysteries are truly magical. He has his island and she has her land of people too. Who will give in who will win, is there a winning side when it comes to the heart of those you dearly love? Good read well written recommended for ages 16 and up!

Great book

I love a good story about magic and the paranormal. I did not want to put this one down. I recommend it highly.

Entrancing Story - Must Read!!!

Whether you have read the prequel (Mystic Isle) or you are just checking out this book - I can say with certainty that this story will suck you in. If you are a fan of the California Malcolm's series, then this is a must read; as you learn about the origins of a siren.

I'm normally not a fan of this time period, but Patricia sprinkles her magic and makes the story fun to ready, and you learn a little about the things that happened at that time too. Once you give this book a chance, you will want to read the whole series, as there is a common theme throughout the series that ties them all together. For those of you wondering, this is technically Book 2 in the series, but it was the first book in the series published. Mystic Isle, while technically Book 1, was actually the last book to be published and is really a prequel that fills in some blanks the rest of the series does not.
