Great writting

Very well written, holds my interest. I did not want to put it down to go to bed.

And now the beginning...

I loved the background info on the Mystic Isle series, but there wasn't enough. I wanted more. I liked the "golden man" nod to a main character, but I wanted to know also how the powers developed and what the story was of the "Sword of Justice" in other stories. I did enjoy every page.

I really enjoyed this origin story for her Mystic Isle books. Now I need to reread the books. *G* She's fine storyteller with a wide range and a quirky sensibility. I really like her urban fantasy novels written as Jamie Quaid also.

Damn you, Ian, and I was this close to letting this series go unfinished. But now you've put me in a position where I want to see how it ends!

Iason Olympus, Ian for his friends, is one of the two candidates to replace the current Oracle of Aelynn. Gifted with the ability to read stars and the will of the gods, as well as the minds of those not of his race, he sets out on a journey in our world, to find the Chalice of Plenty. His timing could be bad enough since the French Revolution is about to break out - but not all is lost, since not only does he find where the Chalice is, he also meets his amacara, the one fated to be his soulmate, as chosen by the gods. Problem is, Chantal Deveau is more than just a Crossbreed with the ability to use music to her advantage - she could also be bearing the symbol of chaos on her body, and this is the last thing Ian needs when he's trying to secure his place as leader of his people.

I always find the one I like the most from the male leads in a series. Something in me just needs it, I don't know. So Ian was the one guy who clicked. Scholar-like types are a weakness of mine. And Ian was adorable in his attitude, an arrogant know-it-all one moment, and a curious child the next. He was delightfully lovestruck when it came to Chantal, and yet kept his manly charms if the need arose to seduce her. And unlike a certain sailor brute *glares at Trystan* Ian made as much effort as he could to respect his amacara, not force or manipulate her (OK, he failed there, but he takes A for the effort!), and to try to learn her rather than just order her around. A man with brains, brawn, and charm, seriously, Ian, where have you been all my life? And did I mention he also had enough sense to understand what his people needed despite two very irritating and powerful women yapping his ears off?

Chantal was at times a bit annoying.

More Substance Needed

This book went from zero to one hundred and back to zero again. Melissa met two werewolves one day after arriving in a new town and two weeks later she was married to both of them. What the??? Then she attends Columbia University and has a baby girl. She completes her final exam and paper then calls her husbands into the office and goes to the hospital. This was a quick listen and had a lot of sex. I believe that more substance to the story would have made it better. There should have been as much substance as there was sex. The story sped through the substance but dwelled on the sex. More balance is needed.

This is the first of Moira's performance I have heard but the quality was outstanding and her unique vocal quality had me breathing heavy the whole time.

Good story and characters

If you like Laurann Dohner you will like this series. Great story and plot line with fun and interesting characters. If I have any complaints about this book I can only come up with 3. The first being that in parts of the book Kate was TSTL. I hate this in a main character, and what made it even worse was that it seemed to be out of character. I could not figure out how one second she was so smart, independent, and powerful, then suddenly in the next minute she was to stupid to live. That bugged me a little. The second problem I have is how quickly and without any real reason the characters can change their minds. I don't have a problem that they change their minds, but I practically get whiplash at how fast. In one part of the book Titus talks for 2 paragraphs about why he thinks one way and then in the 3rd paragraph does a 180. I think that Madison Stevens just needs to flesh those things out a bit more. My last complaint is how quickly she is letting time pass in her stories. From the first book to the second you have almost 10 months passing by and I think she needs to realize think about that. The reason being if her hybrids are pushed by hormones and now you have more women, some who have been there longer than Kate, how are the men holding off, and as a reader I could see many matings happening rather quickly. I don't, however, think that there would be all these almost yearly gaps. A lot can happen in a couple of months, and with the hybrids I think it would be happening fast. While these things bother me, as a whole I was able to ignore them because of the interesting characters and the great plot! I just purchased the next book because this series really does suck you in and grab hold of the reader. I was so involved with reading this series that I have finished the first two books in 2 days, and I'm sure I will probably lose some sleep again to finish the third book in that many days. Definitely, a series I would recommend.

Wow, so much happens in so little time! I was pretty impressed with this story. I liked the storyline and the characters were excellent. The narration was very good, as well! This is the first installment in the series and cannot be listened to as a standalone. I can't wait for the next one!

What made the experience of listening to Bobby and the Beast the most enjoyable?

Ms. Woods did a good job narrating this story. You would think as this is a story about 2 men that they would have chosen a male narrator. Ms. Woods was able to bring all the emotion needed and her male voices were full and rich. I look forward to listening to more of her work

Bobby and the Beast is a twist on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. In this telling, Bobby is in the role of Beauty. When his father is kept prisoner by the Beast, Bobby agrees to take his place if the Beast will release his father. The Beast agrees. While staying at the castle, Bobby sees the true inner Beast and comes to see the good in him.

This tale is true to the original story with some twists. I enjoyed how Mr. Pace was able to do this. The story could have used a little more depth but all in all it was enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of Mr. Pace's work.

This story was so much more than a retelling of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. It was deeper and richer and the writing was smart and thoughtful. Smart! The reader was excellent and certainly performed above any I've heard before.

Very Entertaining!

I was very curious to see how this story would unfold after listening to the previous books in this series, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well the story was done! I loved how independent both the Hero and heroine were and yet was able to come together without fighting for dominance. The performance/narration was again perfect.

For a really short story, I liked the author stayed with one extended scene that was well written.

This is the second book in the series, and I thought Audrey did a much better job narrating this story. Looking forward to hearing more from her.

Too short to be particularly moving but I felt this story had a great flow from how we learn of Bram curse to how the curse was broken.

Becoming Solid

Bram was a viking with a conscious. Due to his mother's influence he didn't have the heart for plundering, burning and killing. However he lacked the back bone to stand up to his father and brothers.

His father and brothers picked the wrong village to rampage as a witch places a curse on them. Because Bram lacks backbone and is a "puddle"of a man he becomes a puddle of water.

Over a thousand years later a modern day witch inherits her Scottish grandmother's cabin. Will the curse finally be broken? Listen to find out.

This was a fun sensual unique short listen.

This is a short, quick listen. I loved the every minute of it. The story of a punished man who has to find his way to being whole again! It was entertaining and a great follow-up from book 1.

Great Story Surprising Twists

I loved this. The story isn't a cut and dried romance with everything going the way the reader figured it world. Thank you!

On the fence with this one

A RANGER'S TALE was a good story written by Mysti Parker. I found myself drawn into it rather quickly. I was also quickly confused by the narration. Two thoughts. I wasn't sure who was speaking at times and it was over dramatized.

Basically I really didn't like her performance. It was okay and If there had been a male co-narrator I probably would of found no fault with it.

The story would switch back and forth between first person Caliphany and first person Galadin.

Her voice sounded the same for both characters which was slightly confusing.

Two narrators would of solved that problem.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was interesting and had excitement but was too long for one sitting.

This was a fun fantasy adventure, but is no no Lord of the Rings.

After his wife and kids were killed Mikkel became one very angry Viking who was hexed by a witch over a 1,000 years ago. After being cursed whenever Mikkel's anger gets out of control he becomes a fireball incinerating everything and one around him, The curse also includes immortality until the curse is lifted.

Joana ia a modern day woman fighting her own inner rage and anger cumulating from the death of her beloved sister by a drunk driver.

Both Mikkel (Mike) and Joana work in demolitions as a why to channel their rage.

Can they help each other control their anger. They are attracted to each other. Will Joana's love cure Mike?

This was a nice short listen. Not a great book but enjoyable.

Ahhh, I Needed More!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a complete short story with no cliffhangers. Even though this is a short story, it does contact interesting characters, action and some intense sexual scenes.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would loved for this story to have been a bit longer. I really like the plot, and the sexual tension between the sexy cursed Viking, Mikkel, and the sexy engineer, Joana, and how he saves her in the nick of time. However, I felt if some of the scenes were expanded it would have made this an awesome read.

Did Audrey Lusk do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

This was the first story I heard narrated by Audrey Lusk, and thought she did a decent job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were no moments that actually move me but there were some scenes I really enjoyed.
