On September 14th, 2018, I was honored to be the direct opener for Richard Mowatt, uplifting UK Trance pioneer from the very beginnings of Trance, a.k.a. Liquid State, a.k.a Young Parisians, or more commonly known as SOLARSTONE, at the Underground, Seattle. I am lucky enough to be able to say this was the third time I have opened for Solarstone, and just like the other two times, the show was sold out, the crowd was an absolute joy to spin for, and the club was packed with Solarstone fans from around the NW, all there to experience the euphoric sounds and vibes of PURE TRANCE from this world-class Trancer. I was asked to put together a slower and more proggy set because Solarstone was spinning for 4 hours and wanted to start off slow, and this is what I came up with, loved every track - it was such a magical night, the crowd was absolutely off the hook, and I’ll be remembering this one for a long time.. On Saturday, Aug 4th, 2018, I was beyond honored to be direct opening support for one of my all-time favorite Trance DJ/record producers, OLIVER SMITH, for the Anjunabeats Worldwide 08 Tour stop-off in Seattle. I have been a fan since around 2005 when I first heard Smith & Pledger – Northern Lights (Original Mix), which immediately became my #1 favorite Trance track, ever, and have played his tracks since then in so many of my sets and have been a loyal fan all through his career with Anjunabeats; never in my wildest dreams would have guessed that I would be handing off the decks to him at a sold out show in Seattle 13 years later, honestly it was a dream come true!! The club was sold out and incredibly packed, hot and sweaty, but the people in the audience we so incredibly amazing and I had SOOOO much fun playing this set. My good friends Janice Chae (J-Note) and Randall Glenn also played amazing sets leading up to mine and it all went together so perfectly. Oliver couldn’t have been a more kind, polite, humble, and endearing person, and it was such an amazing honor to play at this show. On Saturday, July 28th, 2018, I was honored to be a guest DJ for the MISSION TRANCE show at the Whiskey Bar in Portland, OR, which is put on by my long-time friend and fellow lifetime Trance addict, ZOXY, and has been providing a constant source of Trance to Portland for many years and loved by many, myself included, so it’s always a pleasure to be back to where I got my start!! For this set I had the rare opportunity to unleash the raw emotional and uplifting power of 138 BPM Trance, which I so rarely get the chance to spin in a club, but had the 11:30pm-1am time slot so wasted zero time in trying to send the vibes into the stratosphere, and came prepared to spin a carefully selected collection of incredible brand new Trance, plus a blend of classics including a few of my very favorite tracks, ever. On Sun, July 15th , 2018, I took a stab at recording a Trance set just for fun and to escape the heat on a 93 degree summer day. I arranged some tracks, a combination of some classic stuff I’ve been listening to lately, mixed in with some hot brand new stuff as well, and this is what turned out. I kicked it off with the Probspot remix of a rare track that was actually produced many years ago (early 2000’s) by the talented guy that does all of my sound mastering and Voice ID tags (the cute British girls’ voices that you may have become familiar with on my mixes), Chris Dececio, a.k.a. Insignia, a.k.a. Redd Square a.k.a. Bellatrax, out of the UK, one of my favorite tracks and it was so great to hear it again. On Sunday, June 24th, I recorded a set of some beautiful and chillaxed melodic progressive tracks from some artists that I have been listening to a lot lately, mostly when I am at work trying to concentrate and focus, or while driving, this music really clears my mind like a deep breath of fresh cool air, so decided to entitle this mix "Breathe". On this one I connected my iPad to the mixer to augment the set with some relaxing beach and nature sounds to help with that chill vibe I was hoping to inspire. On Friday, May 25th, I was honored to be an opening DJ for world-renown French DJ/Producer and frequent contributor and guest DJ on shows like “A State of Trance” with Armin van Buuren and “Future Sound of Egypt” with Aly & Fila, FERRY TAYLE, at The Underground, Seattle. I was joined on the warm-up crew by local Seattle faves Gavin Patrick a.k.a. Medicated Melodies, and Marc Pospisil a.k.a. MarQ, and this was truly a night to remember, the crowd went absolutely off the rails and was SO MUCH FUN to play to, and meeting Ferry Tayle was such a thrill after being a fan for so many years, such a nice and down to earth gentleman, and his set truly lit up a bright spot on planet earth that night… For this set I had some amazing Trance gems that I was super excited to play, and threw in a couple classics or remakes of classics that the crowd went pretty wild for. On Sat, April 28th, I was honored to be invited to play a Progressive Trance set at a hot new club in Seattle called ORA, for a new recurring show called “Illuminate Saturdays”, which features a rotating cast of some of the local and better-known names in the NW DJ scene specializing in Deep & Progressive House & Progressive Trance. This night was especially fun for me because I got to spin with some of my personal faves in the Seattle club scene, Johnny Monsoon, Chris Paape, Frequent Flier Miles, Digital Ascension, and Serjey Krul, which was a total blast and the crowd was so much fun that night and everyone danced all night long.. Brand new – I have been meaning to record a set of all of this beautiful deep & proggy house music I’ve been listening to and accumulating ever since the ABGT 250 show, primarily inspired by the Above & Beyond deep set that kicked off the show and the entire 2nd day (Anjunadeep day) which was literally one of the best days of my life, music-wise, pure magic all day long, and a show I will never forget. For this set I did a dry run and recorded it once just to listen to it myself and practice, but ended up keeping the first take, it just seemed to fall together and turned out really cool (I thought so at least). For the ocean sounds I plugged my iPad into one of the channels on the mixer and played some relaxing beach sounds while I recorded the set, just because I was wanting to add some ambient sounds to enhance the chill vibe. It's a nice journey through sound to get you in the mood for the warmer months ahead and delves a bit into that grey area where progressive house, deep house, techno, and progressive trance all collide to make something very sublime, soothing and wonderful, which I love so much. On Friday, March 23rd, I was honored to be on the opening roster for UK DJ, Grammy-nominated record producer, and renown pioneer in dance music across Europe, Russia, and the US, FUNKAGENDA, at Club Contour, Seattle. For this set I was paired up with a local Seattle DJ legend and long-time inspiration to me, Johnny Monsoon, who was opening for well-known headliners before I ever even bought my first set of DJ gear, so that was a real honor for me as well!! For this set we didn't rehearse or discuss what we were playing beforehand, just had a rough BPM range in mind and a notion that we should loosely play funky, Housey tracks with a bit of Anjunadeep influence, and this is what we ended up with, which was a SUPER fun set to play to an audience that danced, hooted, and hollered the whole time haha.
