So, the next time you are looking for feedforward and find you are not hearing the information you need, examine yourself to understand if you are really approachable.  Have you given people reason to doubt your sincerity? Have you given people a reason to doubt your stewardship of the very information that may actually help you with your blind spots. . Be Approachable.

Let’s Talk About Conformity

Conformity is an interesting thing to think about because sometimes it is harmful and sometimes it is helpful.  Sometimes not confirming means applying experience to assess a situation and rendering a unique solution.

We conform to the rules of the road, or the rules of a game.  Conformity, in this case, helps to drive order around a common understanding.

The reality is life is that sometimes we are able to grow in certain situations and sometimes a change is needed. Consider a plant that has out gown the container it is in, left in that container it’s growth will be stunted but if transplanted to a healthier environment with room to grow, it has the chance to flourish.

Today, I encourage you to ask yourself if you are conforming for someone else.  Are you holding yourself back form all that you can be right now?

Let's Talk Abut Looking Within

Introspection an help us make sense of our actions and it can help positively impact future behaviors.

The Five Words Exercise:

Imagine you can pick any 5 words to describe yourself

Cross out 2 of your 5 words and now you have 3 words left

Cross out one more word, leaving you with 2 words

Now circle the one word that best describes you. Ask yourself why you have chosen that word and what that word says to others. 

Are you satisfied with your work choice?  Is your word choice derived from a label someone gave you or is it really something you have chosen for yourself? Does the word really embody your essence?

What are some interesting insights to think about and to take action on?

This week, take some time to do a little introspection. And be honest with yourself. Remember introspection can be a pathway to understanding, clarity, and focus that allows you to gain more forward momentum.

When people feel their unique contributions are valued and desired, they may be more willing to share their creative, new, and relative perspectives, thoughts and ideas.
