In Doctrine and Covenants 27, the revelation emphasizes the importance of taking the sacrament with a focus on Jesus Christ, emphasizing that the elements used are not as important as the intent and remembrance of Christ's atoning sacrifice. It also speaks about the roles of various heavenly messengers and apostles, such as Peter, James, and John, and introduces the metaphor of putting on the "whole armor of God" for spiritual protection. Section 28 addresses church governance and prophetic authority, highlighting that Joseph Smith is the authoritative voice for receiving revelations for the church, while Oliver Cowdery is counseled to follow him, and Hiram Page is corrected for claiming revelation through a seer stone. It also unveils the intended preaching mission to the Lamanites and hints at the future establishment of Zion near their borders.
