Months ago, the boys at Domestic Pints ONLY issued a challenge: try to find a cheap 'craft' lager under $3.00. And after some searching, and finally a day where we could all chat together, we found them and delivered! This week, John, Tom, and Alex discuss their selections of surprisingly inexpensive beer outside the typical InBev/Miller Coors conglomerate. First up is Alex with Last Spike Brewery's THE DUKE lager. Following that is John with the classic cheap Quebec brew: TREMBLAY BLONDE. Last up is Tom, as we sample the plaid-branded REVELSTOKE LAGER from Mt. Begbie Brewery. Alex also talks briefly about his experience at the Guinness Brewery in Ireland and also buying Bud Light at an Irish pub (we sort of digress into talking regional difference with macro beers). Finally we wrap up with our scores. Not only were these beers cheap, but surprisingly good! See, craft brewing isn't JUST chocolate milk imperial dry hopped stouts!

This week on Domestic Pints ONLY, John and Tom return back to the 'icy dry bois' series, discussing another lineup of ice and dry beers. First up is the Stroh classic, OLD MILWAUKEE ICE. Next, we take a trepid look at YET another selection from Molson: MOLSON DRY 6.5. Finally, we wrap up with the recently rebranded and redesigned JR 6.0 (Tom has the old can, labelled JAMES READY ICE 6.0) and also spend some time discussing our experience with JR beers. Along the way we also chat Blue Rodeo and Hull poutine. This was one of our favourite icy dry bois yet, we enjoyed and had fun drinking all these beers. It's a week of returns on this episode of Domestic Pints ONLY. Not only are we returning to our Seltzer Sunday series with a long awaited episode discussing 'hard' teas, we are also joined again by our co-host Alex! We drink and sample a series of flavours from the White Claw Hard Seltzer Iced Tea Variety Pack: Lemon, Peach, Mango, and Raspberry. This week on Domestic Pints ONLY, Tom and John sample and discuss beers from the popular Edmonton nanobrewery, BENT STICK BREWING CO. We discuss a little bit about the brewery itself, and Dore shares his experience buying beer at their location, before we sample the opening pilsner - HAY MAKER. After that, we prepare for our cup of joe and try out the coffee amber ale FIRST PULL. The final beer this week is the most popular selection from this brewery, the flagship IPA ELECTRIC BOOGALOO (we also spent a lot of time discussing Tom's trip to Ottawa and some of our shenanigans together). We had a good time drinking these beers, and despite having a surprise disappointment we also had a surprise winner! You can purchase Bent Stick beers across Alberta--and try out the B.S. Wit, which we sampled in a previous Edmonton beer spotlight.

On a special live and in the flesh episode of Domestic Pints ONLY, the prodigal son has returned home: Tom is back in Ottawa, baby! He came over to John's apartment and we recorded the episode on John's balcony (hence why you hear the constant sound of nature, this episode makes for a good sleep aid!). This week we are doing another brewery spotlight, focusing on the acclaimed Blyth, Ontario brewery: COWBELL BREWING CO. We first chat the light lager: SMOOTH SAILING!
