  • TRIPPIN' OVER LANGUAGE (MNEK + Black British Pop Stars, Mobos, Jacquees + Trippin)
Welcome back to Don’t Alert The Stans!
For this week’s episode, Eden, Sope and Nicolas discuss whether the MOBOs have gradually become out of touch with UK urban culture, following the announcement that there will be no awards ceremony this year. They also divulge into the controversial debacle between Ella Mai, DJ Mustard and Jacquees regarding ‘Trip’. With no trepidation, the guys evaluate whether MNEK’s comments about straight black men hold any true weight regarding the underperformance of his album ‘Language’. Sprawling and tangential, it leads into a candid conversation about the landscape for black British male artists as a whole.

  • KEKE...ARE YOU LEGAL?? (Artists and Underage Girls, Streaming Platforms and MAGA Kanye West)
Welcome back to Don’t Alert The Stans!
For this week’s episode, Eden, Sope and Nicolas bluntly unpack the news surrounding Drake’s inappropriate affiliations with underage girls. The boys also consider how the latest developments on Soundcloud and Spotify will impact talent that is rising and under the radar. Begrudgingly, the guys speak in-depth about how they each regard Kanye West the artist and person in 2018, and if he can ever get back into the good graces of the black community. Elsewhere it is debated if Maroon 5 are deserving of their reported appointment as headliners at next year’s Superbowl.

  • IT'S POLITICAL (Cardi B vs Nicki Minaj, Tinashe's career, Colourism + Krept?)
For this week’s episode, Eden, Sope and Nicolas weigh in on how industry politics and wider business protocols in music can effect an artist’s standing. A few of the topics they break down include Nicki Minaj’s attack on Cardi B during the latest instalment of her Queen Radio show, news of Tinashe joining Dancing With The Stars and the allegations of colourism following Krept unveiling an image of his girlfriend. Elsewhere the guys carefully consider if Jorja Smith is overrated and deserving of the current hysteria surrounding her.
