CD 1558 Becoming Conquerors by Colossians - session 8 OUTLINE
(Legalism Can Be Lethal)
In 2023, the year of release this part of Paul's message to the church is quite timely. How many of you under the sound of my voice have been controlled by what others think? God the Father accepted us in His Beloved, Jesus Christ freely. We must break out of our performance mentality depending completely on “GRACE and TRUTH” (more on that tonight)! Pleasing people is poisonous! We need real relationships, not religious rituals! Paul is warning about the Gnostics, the Greeks and the Judizars!
Throughout history, people have mistaken religious rituals as a way to draw close to God and please people. The world church is growing in influence and in worldly power day by day and moment by moment! It’s vital that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ stand up and speak the truth in love!
#1CONVICT and CONDEMN!
#2 DEFRAUD and DENY
#3 DEATH and FREEDOM
Let’s reread verse 15 from last week then get to today’s text:
*Colossians 2:15 (KJV) And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
(AMPC) [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].
*Text: Colossians 2:16-23.
#1 CONVICT then CONDEMN!
*Reread Colossians 2:16-17
Note "JUDGE" (kree'-no) to try and then condemn! CONVICT then CONDEMN!
*John 3:17 (KJV) For God sent not his Son into the world to CONDEMN the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
The name of Jesus means "God's Savior"! God the Father is looking for the lost to be saved not judged! Paul by the Holy Spirit covers it all from day to week to month to year there is no time for judgment!
Note: “MEAT & DRINK” = DAILY * “SABBATH DAYS” = WEEKLY
* “NEW MOON” = MONTHLY *“HOLY DAY” = YEARLY
See Romans 14 the whole chapter but especially verses 5-13 & 23!
#2 DEFRAUD then DENY
*Reread Colossians 2:18-19
Note “BEGUILE”& “REWARD” the Greek word (KATABRABEUŌ) is in verse 18 twice! It means to defraud you of your prize!
Praise the Lord for the supernatural and His gifts of the Holy Spirit! But all through time the devil has been the great imitator! He and his workers are transformed - disguised (see 2 Cor. 11:1-3 & 13-15) as light and righteousness! Paul had encountered the real:
*2 Corinthians 12:1-4 to paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Jesus taught with warning:
*Matthew 24:23-27
NOTE “And not holding the Head” - the antichrist fully translated means “instead of Jesus”! Your life - my life comes from Jesus being our HEAD and we being baptized into His Body the church! Anything you and I have NOT made Jesus the Christ HEAD over will NOT be growing! So examine yourself!
#3 DEATH and FREEDOM
*Reread Colossians 2:20-23
Verse 22 - see doctrines - the doctrines of men and demons are many. See Matt.15:9, Mark 7:7 and finally 1 Timothy 4:1!
*Read Romans 6:6-7 & 7:1-6
*Read Galatians 4:3-7

June 18, 2023 A.M. Service - Father’s Day
“Walking in the Newness of Life.”
I want to wish everyone a “Happy Father’s Day 2023” this morning. Let’s all stand and thank the Lord for our fathers giving them honor like the Word commands! But let’s honor the Lord who is our Father in Heaven first and foremost this day!
Last week in session 9 of the series we looked at “"Seeking, Setting, Seeing" and that lays the foundation to be able to put on Christ completely in our daily lives! In 1 Corinthians 15:40-53, Paul talks about the difference between the earthly man and the celestial man. He describes that there are both celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies. The glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. As we covered last week our old man is dead and now we are to walk in the newness of life completely!
*Read Romans 6:4 (KJV) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
*TEXT Colossians 3:5-17 (KJV) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; #1 fornication, #2 uncleanness,#3 inordinate affection,#4 evil concupiscence, and#5 covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; #6 anger,#7 wrath,#8 malice, #9 blasphemy, #10 filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 #11 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
#1 Cluttered = Fettered
*Reread Colossians 3:5 (KJV) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;
The flesh will ALWAYS keep you from doing God’s Will but also those things you desire to do for the Lord. In your home study time see Romans 7 & 8, we see the contrast of living in the flesh versus the spirit! It’s futile trying to live the Christian life without the Spirit of God. Just as it’s impossible to earn God’s favor apart from faith, so it’s impossible to please God without depending on His indwelling Spirit. The apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Rome that overcoming the flesh is only possible by a total reliance on the work of God’s Holy Spirit for their sanctification. We can understand why overcoming the flesh is only possible by relying on the work of God’s Spirit for our sanctification:
*Romans 7:15 (ESV) For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

CD 1561 Finding Your Best Friend
Q. How do you see the Lord?
Q. How do you see the Lord in your personal life?
Good, bad or ugly the truth is from the Word of our God:
*Proverbs 4:23 KJVS
KEEP THY HEART with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
*Proverbs 4:23 NCV Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.
Q. Why?
*Proverbs 23:7 KJVS
FOR AS HE THINKETH IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Q. Do you believe Jesus desires to be your best friend? Do you believe that by His Holy Spirit He wants to talk to you?
God will be what you make Him to be in your own life:
*Matthew 25:14-19 KJVS
For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. [15] And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. [16] Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. [17] And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. [18] But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. [19] After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
*Matthew 25:24-30 KJVS
Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: [25] And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. [26] His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: [27] Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. [28] Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. [29] For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. [30] And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Q. What's the truth?
*Ephesians 2:4 KJVS
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
*Ephesians 2:7-10 KJVS
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Q. Can you take God at His Word?
*John 14:12 KJVS
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Q. If you do then ask and act:
*John 14:13-14 KJVS
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Now renew your mind by His Word and let God be your friend and you be Hus friend:

*Text: Colossians 3:1-4 KJVS
If ye then be risen with Christ, SEEK those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] SET your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall APPEAR, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

#2 SETTING
#3 SEEING (APPEAR)
The apostle Paul by the un
ction of the Holy Spirit is giving us a list of commands not suggestions! We need to base and live our lives out of the living Word Jesus the Christ! Today you and I will be built up by the truth that is in God's Word, that truth that makes us free.
#1 SEEKING
*Reread Colossians 3:1 KJVS
If ye then be risen with Christ, SEEK those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Note "RISEN" = to rouse from death by giving new life spiritually!
If we truly are risen with the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ then our attitudes and actions will change! We will be:
"SEEKING" by Hebraism to worship those things above - opposite to the earth or carnal man. See the brim:
*John 2:7 KJVS
Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the BRIM (ABOVE).
*See Luke 12:29-32 KJVS
And SEEK not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. [30] For all these things do the nations of the world SEEK after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. [31] But rather SEEK ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. [32] Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
*Romans 8:32 KJVS
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Seek Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and as we will study tonight make Him your best friend! If you know Jesus in this matter then you have life and freedom and provisions!
#2 SETTING
*Reread Colossians 3:2 KJVS
SET your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
*Note "SET your affection" #5426 (fron-eh'-o) to exercise the mind, we must learn how important every thought is to our lives!
Let's see where our minds can be led by mankind, by the devil himself. Note verse 23 in the following text:
*Matthew 16:21-26 KJVS
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. [22] Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. [23] But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for THOU SAVOUREST not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. [24] Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. [26] For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for

Praise God here we are in week 7 as we preach our way through this great epistle to the church at Colossi. This morning you and I are going to leave here edified and encouraged. So tell the Lord I am ready, I have ears to hear and eyes to see.
*Text: Colossians 2:9-15 KJVS
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. [10] And ye are COMPLETE in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11] In whom also ye are CIRCUMCISED with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: [12] Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. [13] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; [14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; [15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, TRIUMPHING (CONQUERING) over them in it.

*Reread Colossians 2:9-10 KJVS
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. [10] And ye are COMPLETE in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
*1 Corinthians 12:13 KJVS
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (Reread Col.2:12).
*Colossians 1:19 KJVS
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
The Believer is now one with Christ because he is in Christ and Christ is in the believer!
You don't need man's approval!
Mankind is not your source, your Savior is your source!

*Reread Colossians 2:11 KJVS
In whom also ye are CIRCUMCISED with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
*Philippians 3:3-5 KJVS
For we are the CIRCUMCISION, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. [4] Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: [5] Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
*Romans 2:28-29 KJVS
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: [29] But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and CIRCUMCISION is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

CD 1557 It's Jesus on the Inside
Are you a Blood bought believer? If you say yes the you have a friend that sticks closer than a brother ( see Proverbs 18:24)! Jesus Christ is your elder brother ( see Romans 8:29) and lives in you. Study carefully Jesus' teachings in the Gospel of John 15:1-7 then read Paul's teaching:
*Galatians 4:19 KJVS
My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed IN you,
*Text 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJVS
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is IN you, except ye be reprobates?
Read that verse again and hold this truth in your heart: JESUS CHRIST IS IN YOU! Paul wasn’t speaking in metaphors. He literally means that Jesus Christ is dwelling within those at Corinth but those today in Christ's church. Christ isn’t outside of us as some kind of Helper in our time of need; He actually lives in us and is with us all the time because He desires to fellowship with His children.
Let's build our faith by the Word of God. There are many verses in the Bible that teach us unmistakably that Jesus Christ lives in His believers.
*Romans 8:8-10 KJVS
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. [9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God DWELL in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [10] And if CHRIST BE IN YOU, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
*2 Corinthians 4:5-11 KJVS
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. [6] For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [7] But we have this treasure IN earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. [8] We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; [9] Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; [10] Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. [11] For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
*Galatians 1:15-16 KJVS
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, [16] to reveal his son IN me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
*Galatians 2:20-21 KJVS
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth IN me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. [21] I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
*Colossians 1:27-29 KJVS
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ IN you, the hope of glory: [28] Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: [29] Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
*2 Thessalonians 1:10-12 KJVS
When he shall come to be glorified IN his saints, and to be admired IN all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. [11] Wher

Q. Do you have faith in the Lord or is your faith in your faith?
*Text 2 Thess. 3:1-3
Closing Illustration:
Roger Simms, hitchhiking his way home, would never forget the date—May 7. His heavy suitcase made Roger tired. He was anxious to take off his army uniform once and for all. Flashing the hitchhiking sigh to the oncoming car, he lost hope when he saw it was a black, sleek, new Cadillac. To his surprise the car stopped. The passenger door opened. He ran toward the car, tossed his suitcase in the back, and thanked the handsome, well-dressed man as he slid into the front seat. “Going home for keeps?” “Sure am,” Roger responded. “Well, you’re in luck if you’re going to Chicago.” “Not quite that far. Do you live in Chicago?” “I have a business there. My name is Hanover.”
After talking about many things, Roger, a Christian, felt a compulsion to witness to this fiftyish, apparently successful businessman about Christ. But he kept putting it off, till he realized he was just thirty minutes from his home. It was now or never. So, Roger cleared his throat, “Mr. Hanover, I would like to talk to you about something very important.” He then proceeded to explain the way of salvation, ultimately asking Mr. Hanover if he would like to receive Christ as his Savior. To Roger’s astonishment the Cadillac pulled over to the side of the road. Roger thought he was going to be ejected from the car. But the businessman bowed his head and received Christ, then thanked Roger. “This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.”

*Text: Colossians 2:1-7 KJVS
For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; [2] That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; [3] In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. [4] And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. [5] For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. [6] As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: [7] Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Note verse 6: "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him" = LIVE BY CHRIST!
Q. How?
A. By these 4 truths in verse 7:
#1 Having been Rooted in Christ
"Rooted" #4492 (rizoō) to root, fig. to become stable - How? Only used one other place in the New Testament:
*Ephesians 3:17-21 (KJV) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being ROOTED and grounded (FOUNDED - Matt.7:25) in LOVE, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the LOVE of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
*1 John 4:7-12 (KJV) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
#2 Being Built up in Christ
"BUILT UP" #2026 (e-poi-ko-d̮o-me'-ō) to build upon, fig. to rear up.
*1 Corinthians 3:10-14 (KJV) According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
#3 Being Established in Faith
"Stablished" #950 (ɓe-ɓai-o'-ō) to stabilitate - to make firm, steadfast.
*1 Corinthians 1:6-8 (KJV) Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CD 1552 What You Tolerate will Dominate You!
Compiled on 12 MAY 2023, 05:09 AM
What You Tolerate will Dominate You!
What You Tolerate will Dominate You! In other words those little foxes of doubt will turn into unbelief and will join with a critical and judgmental spirit controlling your life! These destroy the fruit out of our lives, stealing life, joy and peace. Doubt is one thing but unbelief is another completely different thing in the eyes of the Lord! Doubt simply stated is questioning what you believe. Unbelief is an act of your will refusing to believe. Remember doubt is not unbelief but if not dealt with it can turn into unbelief!
Jesus is the Word of life that makes us free by walking in His Light, His truth! We are to pick up our Cross daily and due daily to the flesh! Remember our theme today is “What You Tolerate will Dominate You”!
Food 4 Thought: Bill Gothard taught a principle I never forgot. He said, “Whatever we tolerate in moderation, our children will indulge into excess.”
*Text: Matthew 18:18 (KJV) Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
(CEV) I promise you that God in heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth, but he will not allow anything you don't allow.
(TPT) “Receive this truth: Whatever you forbid on earth will be considered to be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be considered to be released in heaven.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said freedom starts with us here on earth and then He and heaven will agree. Take His Word by faith or you will be moved from His promises to the devil's plans!
Notice the very different reactions when these 2 men meet Jesus and His challenging Word:
*Luke 19:1-10 (KJV) And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. [2] And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. [3] And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. [4] And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. [5] And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. [6] And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. [7] And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. [8] And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. [9] And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. [10] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Note “Zacchaeus” received Jesus as Lord and he was challenged and he chose change!
*Luke 18:18-27 KJVS
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? [19] And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. [20] Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. [21] And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. [22] Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
