We all have fear of being rejected because we have all experienced it at some point in our lives and we KNOW how it feels.
It would be easy to just stay home and hold back from going after something we want to avoid it, but by avoiding rejection we are also 100% guaranteed to miss out on what we want by not trying.
Imagine living under a rock so we won't feel unworthy of something?
Rejection comes from the belief that we are not enough, and I would like to make a point on the fact that is not that we ARE rejected but FEEL rejected; it is the label we give to that word and the perception we have of the situation we experience.
When we feel rejected we immediately tight this feeling to the “Fact” in quotes, that we are not enough.
I am here to tell you, this is not true! and this is why the same way we give power to other words, we have given power to the word REJECTION and that power is what we can and should take back. So the next time we get a NO, we know and believe in our core, that that NO doesn't mean we are not qualified, or enough. That NO only means that for that person, circumstance, job or opportunity we are not the right candidate, without letting that NO affect the way we perceive ourself and our self-worth.
But how do we deal with rejection? How can we shift that emotion for another one that will motivate us to move forward? How we don't allow past experience to hold us back or make us feel stuck? How can we embrace that NO?
My journey to finally coping with rejection started with getting to know and accepting myself, accepting who I am, and working on my self worth. You see people look at me and think I have it all, that I am a self confident woman, that things come easy to me, someone that doesn't know what it is to deal with struggles and challenges, when the reality is that everything, absolutely everything I have accomplished is a result of many many hours planning, working, trying, and yes, feeling rejected.
My self confidence comes from what I do, from my external validation and is mainly based on my achievements which I am proud to say, I have many.
I have been successful in probably everything I had put my mind into but here is the thing, my self worth needle didn't move one inch to the right with any of those accomplishments because my value, what I really thought about about myself, who I am, was exactly where it was when I was a kid...and if something, that
