Mari here today for a solo episode! There has been a lot going on in my life over the past few weeks that has me feeling like I’m really in the thick of it. We talked a couple of weeks ago on the “Buttholes and Boundaries” episode about the importance of setting boundaries and sticking to them. The problem usually comes when the person on the receiving end of the boundary responds badly. At that point, you may just have to put a pause on that relationship until things calm down… or they don’t. In this quickie episode I am going to talk about my Shitstorm Survival Guide and will share with you the top five tips for weathering the storm. If you aren’t currently going through the muck - that’s awesome! You can still use these habits to build a foundation of survival on purpose that is ready to deploy when things go sideways.

Have you ever had a time when it seems to be both the best and the worst of things? Let’s talk about it! Molly catches us up on her marathon moments while Mari is so excited for the next round of The Crew to be starting soon. On the other end of things, we recently lost a great friend and listener. We can hold space for both the joyful and the sad moments at the same time. It’s ok to take a look at things going on and decide that you do not currently have the capacity for certain things and to reprioritize where you can. When we are trying to “do it all,” chances are high that we are going to fail at something. Remember that multitasking is a lie and that being kind and compassionate with yourself is just as important as being driven to succeed at everything you ever wanted.

As children, we had the luxury of dreaming that we could be and do anything! NHL player? Obviously! Panda Keeper in China? Why not? The world hasn’t yet told us that we cannot do those things, changing how we dream about our future selves.

Things to think about:

• At what age do we stop dreaming as high as we can?

• What limiting beliefs are holding us back?

• What does your vision of the future look like now?

• How can you manifest what you want?

• Get as specific as possible when it comes to making your (ONE) goal

Molly gives us a quick shigella update and the latest word on her upcoming marathon training. Mari shares a story about how she recently felt when someone disregarded a clearly stated boundary and what she did to get rid of the ick feeling of wanting to confront that person. The important thing to remember is that no matter how that person responds to your boundary, the boundary is for you and what you will allow in your sphere.

• Can you think of a time when someone set a boundary with you and what your immediate reaction was? Was it defensive? Did you accept the boundary? Did you double down on pushing their boundaries?

• What’s a better way to approach these situations so you have an easier time setting/accepting boundaries going forward?
