Nailed It

This was another great mail order bride story. I loved that the h was independent yet willing to get her hands dirty and discover how to run a household without a staff. I also enjoyed that her parents came around to her way of thinking. She also discovered that her mother was not the weakling that she thought she was. The H got exactly what he wanted and needed. He thought he just wanted a wife to be a mother for his two little girls and he got a woman who could not only do that but could make him laugh and get him out of his own head and live life. Blended families don't have to have lots of problems and this book showed how this mix can and should work. I got this book via audiobook boom.com

Wonderful book!

This is my first book by Carra and I can't wait to read more of her historical romance! Loved how Laurel learned both home keeping and farm wife skills from the book by Aunt Jenny!

While this is the second book in the series it does a good job as a stand alone book. While it would probably be better to read in order it's not necessary.

This is a quick easy read. It's a great little western love story.

Montana Bargain continues the story of the tiny town of Echo Canyon, Montana and its efforts to keep the town from drying up by having the single males place ads around the country for mail order brides. Dr. Winslow Wu is the veterinarian in Echo Canyon, he can be of help when its residents are ill but the town really needs a doctor. Dr. Wu is single and is looking for a wife so he decides to try to help the town grow, as well as provide the residents with a doctor to take care of them.

Dr. Erin Avery has graduated from the Homeopathic Medical College of Missouri, but is finding that getting a job in the medical field is still beyond her reach because of bias against female doctors. When her friend shows her Dr. Wus ad in her local paper, Dr. Avery is ready to travel from Missouri to Montana to become the bride of Dr. Wu. While her friend has reservations because Dr. Wu is Chinese, Erin does not care. She is willing to marry him, sight unseen to secure her place as an official doctor for the town.

One of the things Im enjoying about this series is getting to catch up with residents weve met in previous books. The books seem to flow seamlessly together and are full of colorful characters and beautiful descriptions of the town and surrounding countryside. A true pleasure to listen to (read).

Great addition to the series. Very entertaining and enjoyable. These are just good clean, fun and engaging stories. I have enjoyed all of Mail Order Bride series from this author. There is so much more going on than just a Mail Order Bride story. As always the story is filled with likable (and unlikable) characters with a good storyline.

A mixture of romance, suspense, humor, mystery and a HEA. There's a little bit more mystery and suspense in this story than the previous one. It's great having a whole new set of characters and their stories. There is more than one story going on in this book. That's all I can say, I don't want to spoil the story .

Liked the fact that Erin and Win share a love of books and would read together. Loved that Evan couldn't resist joining Josie for the "main event" and his, I get it first.

This is the first time I have listened to Lawrence D. Yanklin narrate an audio. Overall he did a good job. He has a nice voice that has the rough western sound perfect for this type of story. Pacing was good not to fast or to slow. Character voices were good. There were times that the narration didn't flow smoothly, an odd pause or emphasis on a wrong word.

A "Cute" story but with no depth of character for anyone

That was just about the dumbest Mail Order Bride I have ever read. In the first few chapters you couldn't keep up with what they were saying because there was 2 or more pages of description in between the questions and the response and then you had to go back and figure out what the response was to... The story had no depth of humanity in it.. There was little to no romance in it. The "bride" story got tangled up with two other "love" stories that held even less depth in them. It was, rather, a cute little story where everyone found a spouse. I wouldn't read any more of her books if this was an example

No way, Jose!

I gave up on this one. The basic outline of the story was good. The writing drove me crazy. How many times does the author need to say the hero is good looking? The "handsome cowboy said..." "The handsome cowboy got on his horse..." I mean, we get the idea. Okay? And the long, needlessly overwrought descriptions: "voice as smooth and dark as a glass of sarsaparilla," "lion-like symmetry of his face," "She.....drowned in the power of his loving gaze and the potency of his declaration." Ugh! I just couldn't take anymore.

Winter Mail Order Bride: Charlotte 's Christmas

A great book that I couldn't put down until I had finished the entire story. A spoiled young lady wanted to find a husband and new life. There were living in different places , but wrote to the other and got married right off the train. There were robberies,train wrecks, uninvited guests, an unhappy lady and more events that kept this very enjoyable. A great reading experience from Amazon kindle western historical romance at a special price.

I have read a number of stories written. By Emma Ashwood and like them this was a very enjoyable stor.

Very Touching!

Oh how we can make troubles for ourselves when it really isn't necessary. If Robert and Flossie would have opened their hearts and secrets to each other they would have been spared all those months of suffering.

But alas if they had, there wouldn't have been a story now would there? One thing I do wish is that you would have allowed them the miracle of Flossie getting pregnant to have a baby girl and maybe even twins after that, a girl and a boy. Oh yes, and officially adopt Woody.

Waste of a Credit

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I think this book would be good for anyone who has trouble getting to sleep.

I'm not sure what I'll read next, but I'll be adding this author to my Do Not Read list.

The performance was adequate-- it may even have been good, but since the narrator had so little to work with, it's hard to say.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

The lack of chemistry between the two main characters was disappointing. I couldn't imagine what got them together in the first place. It was made more disappointing because the interesting premise was so poorly executed. The plot summary bore little resemblance to the actual plot, and the story dragged on and on. And then, to top it off, the constant mention of prayer and praying made the whole thing just come off as a sermon. So irritating.

I listened to the end, hoping that the author would be able to turn it around. That's probably a credit to the narrator.

I enjoy reads like this just as much as romances with deeper love scenes. Feelings and the intense love between hero and heroine are strengthened by their understanding and compassion for each others plight, tested by the calamity. Consequently, this is a clean read and highly recommended for new adults.Willa, having it all, suddenly finds herself dreams dissolving. Her love for the Earl of Roydon is everlasting and encompasses her whole heart. Her injury changing her life drastically, would also change his. She wants to let him live his life whole, not married to a woman who is unable to do the very things they enjoy together. And then the possibility of never walking again, could also make child-bearing and rearing difficult. In her mind, the best thing she could give him is his freedom. But is her love strong enough to let him go? Would you be able to do the same thing?John, Earl of Roydon, is a man I wasnt sure about. Did he really love Willa enough to continue his betrothal with her after the injury? As society dictates, he could not break his proposal. It could only be done by Willa. He is very solicitous toward Willa, but there lurks in me the feeling he may be swayed by one of the many women Willa put forward for introduction at her parties. He seems to enjoy himself with them.

Horrible narrater

I'm sure this is a good book but didn't even get thru the 1st chapter...the person who narrated is HORRIBLE!!! Couldn't stand to listen to her voice!!

Good History Lesson

Who was your favorite character and why?

The storyline embodied my favorite character. Living in New England, I can't imagine our grandparents as such free spirits. This book has woken me up to see the world through someone else's eyes.

Which character as performed by Mary Ann Weathers was your favorite?

Sawyer Samuels was my favorite character and how he dealt with his injury as well as the back story of the pictures he sent home from the war.

Really enjoyed this book.

Linda Bridey's books are always just good, clean, entertaining sweet romances. I have enjoyed all of the books that I have listened to by this author. All of her stories have been entertaining, interesting and enjoyable. I have read her series Montana Brides so these stories revolving around the children of those couples is like visiting with old friends. They also have the added bonus of seeing all the characters from the Montana Brides series. You can't help but get attached to the characters.

This book focuses on the relationship between Sawyer Samuels and Devon Dwyer. After Sawyer returns from the war with an injury can they find a way to put the past behind them and start over again. Pride can get in the way if you let it. I really like the fact that there are other side stories going on at the same time as the main story. One of the side stories does deal with the very serious subject of rape. The story is constantly moving forward full of twists and turns and unexpected happenings, your never exactly sure what will happen next. There is never a dull moment.

This is the first time I have listened to a book narrated by Mary Ann Weathers. She did a great job. She has a very pleasant voice. Easy on the ears and easy to listen to for hours.

This book was interesting. I like Rachel and Tom story. And its crazy how her uncle did her specially with the situation with the maid that is so wrong. I've listen to part 1 and now part 3 . now I have to read I mean listen to part 2, not sure if I have it though.

Lovely!

This story was perfect for my evening commute, and I found myself hanging to every word and forgetting about the traffic around me - just wonderful!

I love short books like this, with a story that fits the time constraint nicely and leaves you with a feeling of completion and liking the characters.

I got this book as a gift and leave this review voluntarily, but I'll be surely getting more books from the author (really, my commute sucks so books like this are a godsend). The narrator also did a wonderful job, with a pleasant voice and fitting voicing of the characters.

What a sweet delightful audio that was great from the start. My heart really went out to Rachel. I just cant even imagine living the life she did after her parents died. I thought my aunt was bad but nothing like her uncle taking her in and using her the way he did. I am betting her parents are rolling in their graves knowing all he took from her leaving her with nothing. She decides to take matters in her hands becoming a mail order bride. Tom needs a strong woman with a clean name to clean up his life and to start to become an upstanding citizen. When the two meet they decide to take it slow to make sure this is what they want. That is as slow as a short story will let them.

Ms. Woodworths narration was great there are no repeating of words. Nor is there any volume change or any background noises. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. Her male and female voices are a delight coming across with lots of emotion that really brings the story to life. Her tones are very powerful never leaving you in doubt what emotion each characters is feeling at any given time. I thought the performance was very good. Ms. Woodworth has a very pleasant natural voice that is a pleasure listening to. I really enjoyed listening to this audio the narrator made it a pleasure to listen to at one setting.

What I liked about this audio was that it was clean, sweet and the characters really talked. By the time the wedding takes place I felt they had really worked on their relationship, both were supportive of the other and at times defended the other.

Stands on its own with a throwback to the series

I have listened to all the books in the series and found this one good, but two and three are better. Mary Michael is an intelligent woman in a time and industry where women are wives and mothers and seldom anything else. While Mary Michael is married he is more a loving father than a husband. A desire for children has her considering a tryst with Captain Lucky. As with most romance stories, the ending is slightly predictable, but the journey is worth the voyage.

My Musings

Luckys Lady is the last book in the Caversham Chronicles. I have thoroughly enjoyed this interesting series. While Luckys Lady is not my favorite, it is an excellent conclusion to this wonderful series.

Sandy Raven writes emotionally-charged romances with intricate plots and unforgettable characters. Luckys Lady has both these ingredients. This book is fast-paced and flows beautifully with an excellent balance between dialogue and narrative. For such a long book, it did not have any parts that slowed the story.

While I struggled a bit with some of the choices Mary-Michael makes throughout the book, I like her character a great deal. She is intelligent and hard-working and although she does not have a complete marriage with her elderly husband, she does have a deep affection for him. She has a constant war between doing what her husband suggests and her growing attraction for Lucky. I could feel her anguish and guilt over, first her infidelity and second over the deception with her lover.

Although Lucky makes a dashing and handsome hero and has a wealth of charm, I did have a great deal of trouble with his morals. He thinks its perfectly all right to engage in adultery with a married woman. There is something about his character, though, that had me loving the rascal anyway.

I dont usually read many books from this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. The narration brought the story to life and held my interest throughout. The story was well thought out, complete and will keep you listening. I will definitely be watching for this author in the future.
