Outstanding Historical Western Romance!

The Rancher's Heart is another outstanding western romance by C.H. Admirand, which is the second book in the Irish Western Series. This story picks up soon after Marshal's Destiny concludes and is just as good, if not better, than the first book in the series. It essentially begins when 12-year old Michael O'Toole is caught stealing cattle from our hero James Ryan (Maggie's brother from Marshal's Destiny). Rather than turn him over to the sheriff, James takes Mick to his ranch and gives him a job because someone once helped him onto the path of righteousness. (Most of those on James's ranch might be considered down on their luck or outlaws, but they are all good, hard working Irish-born men). After Mick mentions that he was stealing only to afford to pay for a doctor for his sick mother, James brings Bridget to his ranch to nurse her back to health. In true romance fashion, the attraction between James and Bridget is undeniable. A wrench is thrown in their path to romance when Bridget finds out that her long deceased husband isn't dead after all, but instead is an infamous wanted criminal for several armed bank robberies.

C.H. Admirands writing is amazing and includes detailed, believable, and well-developed characters. I was so happy to see many familiar characters from Marshal's Destiny appear in this book in more than a few scenes (including Maggie and Joshua, and ranch foreman John Reilly). It felt like seeing old friends whom I haven't see in several years.

I listened to the Audible version of The Rancher's Heart narrated by Elizabeth Cook who did a wonderful job narrating. She really brought the characters to life, using a variety of accents and giving each character their own distinct voice. Elizabeth was also able to switch between characters with ease, which helped with the natural flow and pace of the story.

Great read and listen..

This was such a great story. Chelsea was so bright and cheerful and funny all the time, you couldnt help but adore her (and her best friend Sam.) Wainwright fought his feelings for Chelsea through almost all the book, which was funny to read. I think I liked Aunt Daisy and Lord Lytton as much as Chelsea and Wainwright. This was a sweet story about budding love stories, 3 to be exact, and 2 kidnappings. Yeah, it was a whole lot of fluff but I love fluff once in a while.

I have to tell ya I didnt think Augusta and her brother Patrick got what they deserved. That was a real bummer.

There was 1 explicit sex scene and maybe one or two swearwords.

As to the narrator: This is the only book Mary Sarah Agliatta has under her belt but I thought she was great. The men sounded like men, with different voices, too. And all the women had different voices, from high pitched to silly to wistful to fun and sassy. She did an all-around great job with all the characters in the story. If she narrates more books I would definitely listen to her.

I have to say she did them all so well so its hard to say which was my favorite but I will say for sake of review Lady Daisy.

Yes it was again I truly enjoyed it and the narrator brought it to life so well. She spoke each character so strong and comically in places.

This is one of favorite audios. It's a very sweet romance.

What does Mary Sarah Agliatta bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed Mary's accent. Sometimes accents bother me while listening to a book, but she was absolutely perfect. She definitely brought life to the characters, something I couldn't imagine reading the book on my own.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, this is one of my favorite print books and hearing the book was an even more enjoyable experience.

What a divine romantic story. This was my first regency romance and the first book I read by Claudy Conn. I loved the characters in this book. Chelsea is a very strong willed young woman.

The Blood Is On Your Hands If You Miss This Book!!!

The Blood of the Titans was recommended reading by my avid reader sister -in-law. It was an amazing story and history lesson together. It is a must read. The story is a romance and adventure story about the the beginnings of African civilization The young princess was promised in marriage to king in order to form an alliance before a pending war. The princess was non to happy and fled. The story is gripping and tells of keeping faith with ones convictions. The story is worth the read...

Good Read

It's funny most of the books I like I discover them by accident. I enjoyed reading about the adventure of Halima, Neema, Shomari, Madongo, Mwendapole, etc. It's a love story of sorts. The artwork is fantastic and I was pleasantly suprised that it was done by the gifted visual artist Mshindo. I caught Mshindo on y tube doing OnxyCon Mshindo Dance. Check him out gettin' his dance on. I recommend.

awesome read

I loved this book. I saw an advert for it on Facebook and decided to buy the kindle version. I loved the story and will read it over again. It was like a movie unfolding before my eyes. Although the author was a man... His romance was on point. Yessss!!!!

Favorite of the series but...

Oh dear. First off, I have to say this has been my favorite of the series. It may be because the narration is - finally - good.

The story was okay. I've always liked Harry and who can't like Lucy's grandmother! But, as with the previous two books, a potential grand confrontation with the villain just fizzles. There were plenty of clues that something dramatic would take place between Lucy and Buckley. That storyline was very disappointing. There were missed opportunities to add some drama.

There was much wrong with this but for entertainment value this wasn't too bad.

Let the drama continue!

This is the second book in the Montana Gallagher Series by MK McClintock, and I definitely feel like I got more out of it for having read Gallagher's Pride first. It was a lovely continuation for the original story and the "war" going on between the Gallagher's and the man who own's the neighboring ranch. The tension intensifies in this book resulting in dangerous and sometimes deadly consequences for the Gallagher family.

In each book you also have a specific Gallagher's romance. This book dealt with Gabriel and Isabelle. Isabelle has come to Montana with her brother to take on the local teaching position after the death of their parents. Gabriel marries Isabelle in order to meet the requirements in her father's will that will keep an aunt from taking the boy. The question is whether or not they will make the marriage a real marriage.

I loved the story, but I also loved the narration by Alan Philip Ormond. Not only is his voice lovely to listen to, but his different inflections for the different characters are great. He also had perfect pacing of the words in telling the story. Loved it!

Whirlwind adventure

Would you consider the audio edition of Gallagher's Hope to be better than the print version?

I always enjoy a good audiobook. I started with book two. I'd like to go back and read books 1 and 3 on my own.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I'd like to get to know more about Eliza. She has spunk and I'd like to get to know her history and her adventure (which I believe/hope will be in the 3rd book).

Have you listened to any of Alan Philip Ormonds other performances before? How does this one compare?

No...not yet, but I'd like to. Mr. Ormond did a nice job with both female and young voices. He has a great "cowboy" voice as well.

I loved the relationship between Myriah and Billy. They were a hoot every time they were together. And Kit and Myriah were just plain HOT together. This is a well written love story filled with suspense and adventurewhere the feisty heroine, together with the hunky hero are sexually explosive!!! I really enjoy romances like this, and you will too. This audio, narrated by the incomparable Stevie Zimmerman, was sweet and sensual throughout. Bravo Miss Claudyanother job well done!!!

Another Steamy Historical!!!!

Would you listen to Myriah Fire again? Why?

Absolutely! I adore Claudy Conn's books. Her writing is very descriptive and you feel as if you're in the story.

I loved Myriah. Claudy writes the best feisty heroines.

What does Stevie Zimmerman bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Stevie always brings the characters to life. She was the perfect narrator for this book. Much better than me reading it on my own.

When Myriah's father catches her kissing Sir Roland, he demands she announce their engagement. There's only one problem though. She doesn't love him. So, she does the only logical thing and runs away to her grandfather's house and meets an injured man along the way. But, it is the injured man's older brother who catches Myriah's eye and ultimately her heart.

I love love love Claudy Conn's historical romances. They are always filled with love, suspense, and a feisty heroine who finds the love of her life despite the odds against them.

Charlotte Anne Dore was sometimes flat and stilted and her mispronunciation of certain words ( ie envelope instead of envelop) was distracting at times. Her performance wasn't so bad that I couldn't listen but it lowered this title from a 5 star listen to a 3.5 star listen.

What was most disappointing about Elizabeth Mansfields story?

Everything. There was no research into Regency manners, dress, food etc. I had trouble recognising what period it was set in.

How could the performance have been better?

It was OK but had no substance - no characterisation. I really hated the American twang,

All of them. They were universally horrible and unbelievable

I have no idea why this book was ever published. This author needs to do a lot more research and read authors such as Jane Austen an Georgette Heyer.

Delightful 19th Century cozy mystery.

The Great Christmas Caper is an enjoyable novella written by Karen Hall. The story is a cross between a cozy mystery and historical romance with delightful results.

Set in the 19th Century, the story centers around one of London's most eligible bachelor's Bob Barnwell. Bob and his brother are put in charge of running his familys candy company, which is engaged in a heated Christmas competition with its chief competitor. Disaster strikes soon after a pretty saleswoman named Laura persuades Bob to by a new machine - a typewriter - and Bob hires her as a temporary secretary. Most of the workers at his factory call of sick after getting food poisoning and Bob can't help but think Laura caused this disaster and is working undercover for his competitor. The rest of the story is finding out who really poisoned the workers, Laura finding a solution to getting the factory back on track to meet the Christmas demand, and Laura and Bob learning to trust each other again.

Caroline Miller narrated this audiobook and she did a wonderful job. She brought the characters to life, giving each character their own distinct voice. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review.

Entertaining Time Travel in 1870's Texas.

For All Time by Parris Afton Bonds is a great old fashioned historical romance set primarily during the 1870's in Texas. The story centers around 40-something Stacy who has lived a life without ever being in love. She is shot during a cavalry reenactment and, at the moment she is shot, she time-travels back into her grandmother's 20-year old body when her grandmother was shot during an Indian raid. Stacy is rescued by a tall dark and handsome halfbreed and, in true historical romance fashion, they fall in love. Inevitably she is torn between staying with the love of her life and wanting to return to her time and her two children.

Julie S. Halpern narrated and did a great job. She had different voices for each character, both male and female, and good pace. She also portrayed Stacy's yearning and emotional conflict realistically. Even though I received a copy of this audio in exchange for an honest review, I really enjoyed listening to it!

Good story ruined by narration

The voice. The story was intriguing, but it was hard to pay attention because of the voice.

Would you be willing to try another book from Parris Afton Bonds? Why or why not?

Probably, but not with this narrator and I'd have to listen to a sample first.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I do a lot of reading and listening, and I'm very picky. This audiobook might be perfectly fine and entertaining for YOU. Check out the Amazon reviews of the print version and you'll see I'm in the minority. There were certainly things I liked. The ending is satisfying. I think the recreation of Old West fort life is pretty accurate overall (I've researched another Old West fort so I have some frame of reference). I've also researched other Indian tribes, but not the Apaches. Still, the author's depiction of Apache culture seemed to have random New Age bits thrown in. The "someone's followed me from the present to kill me!" also came out of left field. Perhaps most important of all, the author kept telling me that Stacie and Joseph's love was something special, but she didn't convince me.
