    The title doesn't lie
This was an extremely fun read, and it's the way the book is written that allows the reader to just sit back and enjoy the ride. By that, I mean that this is written in a smooth and economical style, but is still complex. The narrative voice sounds much like an excellent DM in an RPG board game, and I that's what Larson was aiming for.
He hits the bulls-eye. I came to the end of the book and couldn't believe I had read it in one sitting. But I had -- I didn't want to put it down, and I never did. Really well done. I hope he writes more novels like this, because I want to read them!
    Total Immersion Indeed.
Great litRPG novel. The title is not lying to you. Once you open this book you will be held spellbound. The author has a way with words and paints a picture with the very best of them. Whether you want to get into the litRPG genre or are already a fan, this book will not disappoint you.
Get ready to stay up all night because you will not be able to put this down. The story is well crafted and has a great flor. The characters are detailed and interesting, and certainly bring you even deeper into the tale.
well enough written, but felt a little flat
This one was well-proofread, I didn't notice any editing issues, and the writing flowed well enough, but the characters and world felt pretty flat. Maybe it's just that this book wasn't my thing, but I never got really interested in the characters, and even when I wasn't expecting a particular development, it wasn't really surprising. Reading this reminds me a little bit of watching someone else play a video or computer game; little bits of it were interesting but I never felt invested in the outcome.
Fantastic cover and story to match!
SUPER fun read!!! Monsters, action, great characters. If you enjoy LITRPG, this is one you don't want to miss.
    MC is simple
I saw some potential in the book, but became vastly disappointed.
The MC doesnât actually do anything but follow a path laid out for him. He doesnât really contribute to the team. He is poor under pressure. And, under utilizes his summons and their powers. Not to mention (**Spoiler**)
    His reset parameters are atrocious.
The game system has potential but is never really flushed out or explained (in the sense of the actual values of the numbers and the correlation to damage/abilities/skills).

    Title: The Wolves of Winter
    Author: Tyrell Johnson
    Narrator: Jayme Mattler
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 53 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-02-18
    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 6 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
A captivating tale of humanity pushed beyond its breaking point, of family and bonds of love forged when everything is lost, and of a heroic young woman who crosses a frozen landscape to find her destiny, this debut novel is in a postapocalyptic tradition that spans The Hunger Games and Station Eleven but blazes its own distinctive path.
Forget the old days. Forget summer. Forget warmth. Forget anything that doesn't help you survive in the endless white wilderness beyond the edges of a fallen world.
Lynn McBride has learned much since society collapsed in the face of nuclear war and the relentless spread of disease. As the memories of her old life continue to haunt, she's been forced to forge ahead in the snow-drifted Canadian Yukon, learning how to hunt and trap and slaughter.
But her fragile existence is about to be shattered. Shadows of the world before have found her tiny community - most prominently in the enigmatic figure of Jax, who brings with him dark secrets of the past and sets in motion a chain of events that will call Lynn to a role she never imagined.
Simultaneously a heartbreakingly sympathetic portrait of a young woman searching for the answer of who she is meant to be and a frightening vision of a merciless new world in which desperation rules, The Wolves of Winter is enveloping, propulsive, and poignant.

    Frosty Winter Fiction
This book is listed as a best fiction for 2018. I hope there are better books out there this coming year. It was ok. There was a bit of redundancy that was unnecessary and fairly easy to guess the ending. It is a quick read and a very cold winter read . I would recommend it to those who enjoy post apocalyptic as it has s bit of a different twist. It is also a bit scary to read during flu season.
    Fantastic. Loved it
A must read. Fantastic. Loved it. Didn't want it to end.
Great book! Had a hard time putting it down ...
Great book! Had a hard time putting it down and could really experience seeing the world through Gwendolynn's (deal with it Lynn) eyes. It's one of those stories that every once in a while you realize you're reading standing up because you care so much about the characters. Looking forward to the next one!
    Loved it. Well written
Loved it. Well written. Great character development and imagery. Compelling story. Only disappointed that it's over and the sequel isn't out yet.
Only challenge was wrestling it away from my husband who couldn't put it down - and he usually does not read novels.
    Really good read!
This book was exciting and easy to read and still had a warm cozy feel to it despite its ice covered setting. It was a wonderful post-apocalyptic story to curl up with.

Excellent Series, Gets Better with Each Book
Ben Bova, winner of 7 Hugos, founding fiction editor of Omni Magazine, and succeeding Editor of Analog, following John Campbell. No one does hard science fiction like Mister Bova. This series concerns attempts to save intelligent life. The characters and the story are very real. My only niggles is... "Why couldn't the book be longer?" I didn't want to leave.
    Bova at his best
Other than it being a little too short it was an excellent listen. recommend it.

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
A stunning new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author - an epic of hope and horror, chaos and magic, and a journey that will unite a desperate group of people to fight the battle of their lives...
It began on New Year's Eve.
The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world's population was decimated.
Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max. Some of it is unimaginably evil, and it can lurk anywhere, around a corner, in fetid tunnels beneath the river - or in the ones you know and love the most.
As word spreads that neither the immune nor the gifted are safe from the authorities who patrol the ravaged streets, and with nothing left to count on but each other, Lana and Max make their way out of a wrecked New York City. At the same time, other travelers are heading west too, into a new frontier. Chuck, a tech genius trying to hack his way through a world gone offline. Arlys, a journalist who has lost her audience but uses pen and paper to record the truth. Fred, her young colleague, possessed of burgeoning abilities and an optimism that seems out of place in this bleak landscape. And Rachel and Jonah, a resourceful doctor and a paramedic who fend off despair with their determination to keep a young mother and three infants in their care alive.
In a world of survivors where every stranger encountered could be either a savage or a savior, none of them knows exactly where they are heading, or why. But a purpose awaits them that will shape their lives and the lives of all those who remain.
The end has come. The beginning comes next.

    Beautiful and tough !!!
This is the hardest one for me to review,
I actually had to listen twice to this book to really really get it and fully understand what's going on because it feels like that the author worked really hard to make this book spacial which I believe was a mistake, he already had a great story in his head, it was not necessary to add to it, make it to complicated that even me who loves hard core science-fiction had problems understanding or following the story line that as I said I actually re listened a second time to the book to really enjoy it.
The story is there and it's a great one, I would advise to the author to drop 2 hours and make the story less complicated, then it will become a masterpiece.
Every thing about the performance is perfect, each voice is right on and the sound Quality is perfect so no problems there.
Like I said this one is a tough one, I do recommend it, it's a good book !!!
    Thousand Tales
Paul is a young man with a bright future ahead of him. He started playing Thousand Tales, meeting Ludo and changing the course of his life forever. Paul isnt the only human character we follow in this novel, but hes the most central to Ludo and her development. Hes the pro-Ludo camp, throwing himself into her adventures and immersing himself in her world.
the audio played a very place in the book
I don't think I would have enjoyed this book so much if the audio wasn't that good the book is interesting don't get me wrong but the audio made it more yes I had some issues with the book and no they're not serious but this is the reason the samples have to be on audio the narrator made the book a live in my head
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
I like the audio book better
A pretty wide sweeping story about the beginning of humans migrating to a digital lives. The one way upload made me squeemish reading the book. The narration was well performed and allowed me to focus on the story. I liked the story. The uncomfortable moral and ethical issues were handled well and a focus of the book.
    A true gem.
This is a thought provoking and very enjoyable listen. I got a lot more than I expected from this story.
Starting with the setting. On one side you have real world politics, conspiracy theories and a consistent near future world. On the other you have the wonder and near infinity of possibilities brain uploading provides. The conflict and interactions between the two is a majority part of the story.

    great story
epic ending, great negotiator, and even greater plot twist. Although I was sad to see some characters bit the dust all in all 10 out of 10
    ended worng to me.
ended quickly, too quickly. wam bam type of ending making me think the publisher made it end for time. it is a good book, but the ending sucked.
    great series
a good ending for this series. been waiting for this for a long time. love this series from beginning to end. for now
The End .... or is it?
Loved this series, although in the beginning I was doubtful I would stay the course. I am so glad I did.
Although this was, initially, difficult at the start to pick up the thread from the last book, once there it was full speed ahead. Action scenes towards the end kept me listening through the night.
This series is definitely worth the credits and it always helps any series if you have a good narrator, which this series did.
