    YES!
By far my favorite Empire of Bones novel so far! This book paid off some of the things I've been looking forward to from book 1, and it delivered in a big way. I was pleased to see some of the secondary and tertiary characters we've seen come closer to the forefront in this book, and just... wow. The ending was awesome!
I am pumped for book 6!
Love a good space opera and I love this series
Would you consider the audio edition of Paying the Price to be better than the print version?
    Yes Very much so
Who was your favorite character and why?
Princess Kelsey Bandar. She is always coming to Jared's rescue
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Princess Kelsey Bandar let her twin brother go thru the worm hole

    Good military action Sci Fy
I listen to audio books while I am driving almost exclusively, sometimes a few days between listens. Therefore I judge a book, whether it is print, e-book or audio based on whether it keeps my interest, has continuity, and if I can remember the story after being away from it for a period of time.
This book did all those things and more, it is book 5 in the series and I will admit that I had not read any of the previous books. This one is full of action and the characters are well developed even the ones that you want to hate.
I liked this book so much that I am going to get the first 4 books and listen to them to find out more of the back story and I expect that I will enjoy them as much.
I received this book for free as part of a promotion buy the author in exchange for an honest review.
A well executed continuation to this space opera
If you have read or listened to any of the previous books in the Empire of Bones Saga, you'll enjoy this installment as well. The series, and this book, is a fun well crafted story, with characters that are well formed. However; this is not a story with gritty characters and a deep dive into what drives them. It is much more surfacy than that. But because it is, it can move quickly from success to success that is satisfying and lends to the charm of the series.
I left a rating of 4 on narration because while the narrator is very good, the differentiation in voice and characters could be improved and in my opinion, was a distraction from the story.

The price of ones actions is faced.
What about Veronica Gigueres performance did you like?
Veronica is a favorite narrator for me. She speaks clear with possession of each word. She voices each character with different tones, sounds, and even accents to differentiate each one for us. This is a blessing in audio with a larger cast of characters. Even to give an AI feel to some voices is an addition to the many talents Veronica has.

    twisty story line
a very enjoyable story. Narrator Dina Pearlman did did an outstanding job her voice range was amazing. Also her command of dialects was extraordinary to say the least. It was very easy to get fully emersed in the tale.
The author Craig A Falconer brought forth an excellent story concept. this was for me well worth listening to.
Yes by all means purchase this Audible book, it's really great Sci-fi.
    Skip it.
The plot is dumb, the characters are so unrelatable, that I couldn't tell who was whom and this didn't really matter because every line made about as much sense if it was delivered by the little boy. The only way to enjoy this book is to pretend that the whole thing takes place in the kid's imagination.
I spent most of the book trying to figure out if the narrator was horrible, or if the writing was just so horrible that it was impossible for a narrator to salvage it. I'm pretty sure it was equal parts of each.
Also, it's incredibly jarring when someone doesn't know how to pronounce the word 'habitable.'
I could go on, but the bottom line is that I wish I hadn't ever listened to this book. It's too late for me, but you can still save yourself.
    GREAT, BUT TINNY
I loved the story and finished it in one day, but it did take me a little bit to get used to the sound quality of the book. Was this recorded inside a pop can? If they fixed this, Terradox would be damn near perfect.
    Great
I really enjoyed this book very much and sometime in the near future I want to hear book two . The story was awesome I liked the people in the book
    Terradox
Terradox Narrated by Dina Peraltman Authored by Craig A Falconer are a duo that can not be resisted. A perfect setting for today's of; oh so blind , ignorant, and sleeping masses. They would not even be required to read just lock them in a closed room and tell them to listen. Ah, well even old half blind women have dreams once in a while!

Story was like a 10 year old wrote it
Don't get me started on the performance, there was almost no inflection in his voice. The story itself was just... Bad. No comparison to the previous story. The characters made few decisions that make sense and they didn't feel developed at all. They make the same exact mistakes throughout the story. The story itself repeats itself, many of the scenes feel recycled. I'll never read a book by this author or read by the this narrator again.
    Why?
change the narrator. change the author. story fixed.
This book comes off as if the author was given a homework assignment and did the minimum work possible. additionally he pretty much just took the first story and moved some words around and made it terrible.
    p.s.
I will be getting my credit back
    acceptable military sci fi
Without spoilers, the story itself was good enough. Hopeless battles, sacrifice, stompy power armor, that good stuff is all here.
I feel, however, that the experience was hampered by a mediocre narrator; characters all speak with one of two voices, neither of which is describably "female", and no attempt at all is made to portray characters who are stated to have accents, with accents. Some words are mispronounced, and the performance is simply lacklustre.
I tried to like it. Seriously, I want to like it..
    Any additional comments?
I made it 1/4th through the book and gave up. The story might be worth reading a few times like I did with the first book but the performance was awful. The narrator was mostly monotone with all the characters, There wasn't enough variance in the reading to distinguish male from female or alien from human. It was not an enjoyable experience.
An acceptable story with a horrible narrator
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. To be honest, I would have been better off reading it and having the voices in my head narrate it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Asbaran Solutions?
For a second novel in a series, the tone changes very much from the first. It seems the lack of personal deaths in the first novel has been made up in the second.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was dull, monotone and lacked skill. Many times I was confused by who was supposed to be speaking in the story.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    No.
    Any additional comments?
Please, do not let this narrator ruin any more books until he has improved his range and skill.

great story. the narratio could be a little better
I loved it's book as I did the previous 2 but again, I thought the narration could be a little better. while it was good, at times it seemed to lack the needed feeling that would give you the visual the author wanted.
I highly recommend the series though
    good work book
love the books so much Goosebumps and all that just made for great time listening
    Good story, but too dark...
Overall I liked the story, but it was too dark for me. Plot was sad.
loved this series. well written and well performed
This series encompassed real world problems in a non overbearing manner. The story had sufficient character development amongst the main Corp. The story was clever and elaborative. I highly recommend for a space book.

"The Ixan Prophecies - Parables of Pogroms"
At the start of this book we are treated to newly-elected President Sonja Hurst putting on display her propensity for outrageous campiness. First, when informed that Ochrim's explanation of the universe's destruction with the continued use for wormhole creation and that it could happen in as little as 40 years and should be stopped being used, she muses, "Ill be dead by then anyway. Or near enough." and ignores the danger. Soon thereafter, she upset with a crowd of demonstrators who are blocking a direct path to a meeting, she angrily says, "Why do the guards and police have guns if they arent going to use them? and then orders the officers and guards to "gun them down" which they then obligingly do.
The story moves on from the comedic outrageousness to the more conventional kind where the human space fleet proceeds on its quest to eliminate pesky alien species and the Providence and its crew desperately attempting to prevent it. During the battles, while several marines are killed, as would be expected, regrettably, the Providence loses one of its finest, which took me by surprise and added a poignant pause to all of the death and destruction be waged.
There was one section where the author mentioned that since humans had ruined Earth's environment to sustain life, Mars had been terraformed to now have an ecosystem not dissimilar to old Earth. I found this confusing, for if technology had advanced such that they could terraform Mars, why could they not do the same to Earth?
Even so, the story continues with a multitude of story arcs, sub-plots, intrigue and betrayals to keep book 2 quite enjoyable.
liked the 1st, loved the 2nd!
i honestly thought i wouldn't like this series, so far i have been totally wrong! not a fan of some of the names, but whatever, this is a great story! if u like sci-fi, political intrigue, and raging against the machine u won't be disappointed!
    Birds and fish?
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
It got a little stupid with all of the bird and fish references.
    Which scene was your favorite?
    I didn't have one.

Found this book to be a wonderful read, and terribly hard to put down. Is in keeping with the two preceding books. Thrilling with a gentleness in its more interment moments, of its rag tag make shift family.
    Decent ending. Loved the series
It ended in a good note. I would recommend for a good action/adventure Maze runner type book...but better
    Best Book I've Ever Read
I can't say enough good things about this book. So very well written - gripping, heart wrenching, joyful, hopeful, gritty, real. And a wonderful performance too.
Don't know why I kept going
The story moves slowly and from book one I found myself skipping a lot, and yet... I wanted to know what happened to the characters and was satisfied by the ending. I just wish the books overall were more interesting, maybe a little less detailed setting.

A superb science fiction adventure set in the rubble of a ruined universe, this is a deep space heist story of kidnap, betrayal, alien artifacts, and revenge.
The galaxy has seen great empires rise and fall. Planets have shattered and been remade. Among the ruins of alien civilizations, building our own from the rubble, humanity still thrives.

    Great story, crap Mastering/Post work
What did you like best about this story?
A departure from Reynolds work. 1st person perspective that took me quite a while to get into. At first I thought I was going to be giving this a very poor review, but after getting into the book (after a binge of hearing John Lee narrate some space marine books) I started to really like it. A bit of a steampunk/Victorian feel to it, but still a lot of fun.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Clare Corbett?
    Clare was fine.
    Any additional comments?
Whoever mastered/edited this needs a freaking slap and if I see you at APAC I will. Shame on you! As a narrator myself, under another name, I was shocked at the quality of this. Whoever edited this did not bother to listen through after they ran it through a fairly aggressive noise-gate. When Clare is being quiet, which is quite often, the db drops dramatically where the processor lowers the volume to the point that whole words are barely audible at times. More often the end of soft words are cut off/reduced to near inaudibility. If Clare had been louder in her reading it may not have been a problem, but with her habit of half whispering at times it was extremely annoying and IMO the book should be pulled and re-edited.
warning headphone users: volume needs normalizing
The story is fast-paced and much more dialogue-heavy compared to the author's other books. The audio volume is troublesome for me, however. There are sections when the narrator is whispering quietly followed by much louder exclamations that hurt my ears. I recommend ripping the audio and renormalizing it so you don't have to strain yourself to understand what is being said.
Too bad about the sound production- Great book!!
Loved the book. A great pirate story with some steam punk to boot. The audio had way too much bass and almost ruined it, but turn the bass down and the treble up and enjoy!!
    terrible reading, decent story
recording is terrible. reader whispers too often, and is hard to hear and understand.

    Publisher's Summary:
The final book in the postapocalyptic Breakers series.
    Members Reviews:
I love everything about this series
Breakers stays as an outbreak story, then becomes a post-apocalyptic survival story, then an alien invasion story, then a war story. I'm a sucker for several of those story archetypes, so this is right up my alley, but Breakers transcends all that by being something more. Breakers is about people, both human and alien people, finding a way to keep going despite the odds against them. It starts with discrete groups of people in different places, but Robertson weaves their stories together, so that it keeps coming back to some of the key players. It was like meeting up with old friends every time he'd come back to folks I hadn't heard from in a novel or two. The characters are whole, flawed beings, and Robertson spent enough time on them to make them real, something that some authors don't do.
I didn't love the narrator at first. A little too gruff and dramatic, but he grew on me, probably because I loved the story so much that I started associating his voice with something I loved.
The series ends beautifully, with wistfulness and hope, and it left me in tears. Thank you, Mr. Robertson.
A riveting finale for the Breakers series
As this book concludes, one can only be fascinated by the possible centuries-later sequels that might be ahead. As an avid reader, I'm enthralled by the thought.
As for this finale, it pulls together all the surviving lead characters of the series and weaves their lives, their adventures and their conflicts into a can't-put-it-down tale.
As always, Raina is a fascinating mix of cunning animal and an increasingly perceptive young woman. Walt remains Mr. Grit and incredibly also Mr. Luck. Mauser stands fast as an ineloquent but wise second and Ness and Sebastian remain the most unlikely but loyal pair of friends I've encountered in 6+decades or reading science fiction.
An ending that sets a new standard for sci-fi...
What a terrific series ending finale! Loss, redemption, resilience, forgiveness, regret, hope, encouragement, love, and acceptance from front to back. All the major characters are brought together for one last battle to outshine the others! In Nt he slight chance that this series is ever brought to tv (I think the production team behind Walking Dead would be perfect..definitely AMC) then fans worldwide would drop all other plans and geek out while sharing the love of the mythos. Ray Chase delivers again (his Mauser is reminds me of Hugh Jackman for some reason), if theres a Noblel for audio books then he's a shoo-in...Im spreading the word of this series everywhere, I LOOOVE IT.
    Love it.
Definitely my favorite book of the series since the first one. Absolutely loved the whole thing.
Every book was worth the read.
I loved the narrator. The story line kept me intrigued. Don't let the amount of books in the series scare you away.

    Publisher's Summary:
Best-selling author Jodi Taylor returns with a brand-new Chronicles of St Mary's short story.
Like a smaller and much scruffier Greta Garbo - finally - Markham speaks!
It's Christmas and time for the first (and almost certainly last) St Mary's Annual Children's Christmas Party - attendance compulsory, by order of Dr Bairstow. Discovered practising his illegal reindeer dance and poo-dropping routine, our hero, along with fellow disaster magnets Peterson and Maxwell, is dispatched to Anglo-Saxon England to discover the truth about Alfred and the cakes. In his own words, our hero reveals Major Guthrie's six-point guide to a successful assignment and the Security Section's true opinion of the History Department. And of historians in general. And of one historian in particular.
And, just to be clear, it is time travel, for God's sake. Forget all that pretentious 'investigating major historical events in contemporary time' rubbish. This is history without the capital H. Because this is the way the Security Section rolls!

    Missing Zara Ramm
If you could sum up My Name is Markham in three words, what would they be?
    Not. The. Best.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Markham, but really, he's the only character.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Not really - I am used to Markham being a bit more lively.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did, but it's so short, it would be difficult not to.
    Any additional comments?
Since I have all the other St Mary's books in audible format, it was a given I was going to purchase this one too, but I have to admit to being a bit disappointed in it. Frankly, if this was my first "experience" of St Mary's, I wouldn't be looking another one.
It's not that the book or narration is bad, per se, it's just that the others are so very, very good. I can understand the selection of Piers Wehner to narrate, after all, Markham is a man and it appears the intention is Markham speaks! in his own voice!, and Mr Wehner certainly has a very nice voice ... but Zara Ramm has already given Markham a *very* distinctive voice - amusing, interesting and not the slightest bit boring. The accent she has chosen for Markham is understandable and unmistakable. Even without Max saying so, you always know when he enters the conversation.
Mr Wehner gives him little emotion, except at the end when Markham is whining, (and for goodness sake, what was *that* all about? Markham does. not. whine.) and it gets a bit droning on to be honest.
I have just now finished listening, and sadly, I can't really review the plot of this short story, because I don't remember it. It was raining, Arthur didn't burn the cakes and something about a dog in heat. (?) I think. I'm knitting a mindless project while listening, so I'm certainly not distracted, but I found myself drifting off into my own thoughts. The other books have had me laughing out loud at Markham's antics and quips, I would so love to hear what Ms Ramm would do with this. I have a feeling it could be very funny indeed.
I rated it four stars overall, so as to not "downgrade" it, but really, three stars is more in line with my opinion.
