Soo Good
I got this book via audiobook boom. I loved this story. It is a story of faith, strength and the ability to make lemonade out of lemons. After living in an abusive situation and escaping then finding the one man that God has for you was remarkable. It makes you think about how when you read the Bible with understanding rather than through someone else's eyes. This story made me think and continue to listen until the end.
Christian confusing covenant?
Not as Christian based as originally thought. The scheming to bring John and romance while still married perplexed me.
I guess I'm not fond of Christian Romance
No complaints against the narrator. I just did not care for the way the story unfolded.
Wanted so much more from a Christian Romance
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This story did not seem realistic to life. I was hopeful for a good story of God's redemption. Instead it portrayed unrealistic events. I will admit I've never been in an abusive relationship. I found the main character's responses, the action of the abuser and the other characters unrealistic. For example if a sweet girl had lived in town for a year, in a town that claims to be friendly and loving, the townspeople side with her rather than her abusive husband when he shows up saying negative things about her. And really, would a police officer not come when a woman calls to say she's been beaten up by her husband? The Christian parts felt stuffed into the story rather than the redemptive part of the story. Such a disappointment.
What was most disappointing about T.K. Chapins story?
The unrealistic details of the events of the story.
What about Susan Fouches performance did you like?
The reader did a good job reading the story and putting emotion into it. She has a pleasant voice and the characters were distinct.
Any additional comments?
I hope this is not evidence of the quality of this author since I read "best-selling" author in the reviews.
Perseverance Pays Off
A woman slowly realizes that her husbands beatings are not due solely to alcohol use and decides to leave him to save her life and the life of their unborn child. She moves as far away from him as she possibly can and makes a new life for herself under an assumed name. Just when she is becoming accepted into the tight knit community, and possibly falling in love again against her better judgment, her husband shows up in town.
She is not sure about the man she is falling for. He has shown a willingness to be violent. But her also appears to be a kind person and a godly man. He is struggling with his own dilemma at the moment and this makes him appear to be something that he is not.
This book has no surprises, is a story we have all seen before, and, of course, has a somewhat sappy ending.
