    I Will Breathe
The year is 2836: 800 years since the great war. Liberty has grown up in this postapocalyptic climate. Her home is an airship built by her adopted father. It has been five years since his death, and each day is just another day of trying to survive in a hostile environment. That is until a dying friend of her father asks if she'll take custody of a small, childlike robot.
    Into Forbidden
After Liberty's death, her granddaughter, Harmony, inherits Boy and Airus. Harmony still travels the same routes as her grandmother - until one day when her brother and cousin turn up missing while scavenging for items in the forbidden lands. Fortunately an escaped slave agrees to escort Harmony to the walled-off city called Freedom. While it isn't a place Harmony would normally travel to, she's determined to rescue Walker and Journey from the group of huge, spikelike robots aptly named overseers.
    An Ill Wind
A quick trip up the east coast quickly turns into a life-and-death experience for Harmony when hurricane-force winds plunge her airship into the ocean. When Airus drifts upon a tiny island, she is faced with a deflated balloon, two broken robots, a damaged friction engine, and the fear of running out of fresh water. This might be enough to discourage the bravest heart, but Harmony is determined to stay alive. She simply refuses to believe she'll never see her family or Griffin again.

    Dystopian future
I chose this book for it's narrator. Hollie Jackson has always done good in my opinion. This was no exception. She was actually the main reason I finished the series. Each of the books had a great story to tell but there are so many holes and so many missed stories! The epilogue of book 1 just kills off the main character, well she dies of old age. She wasnt even old in the story, so there's a huge chunk of her story gone. Book 2 begins with her grandchildren. What about her kids? So there's another huge gap. At the end of book 2 Griffin promises to never leave Harmony but as book 3 begins he isn't in the story. Griffin isn't even mentioned until half way through book 3. Then later we find out that they are married??? What happened to that part of the story. Bolts the robot was apparently completely forgotten in book 3. Again, the stories were good but they could have been great. I feel there could have been a whole lot more great stories in those gaps.
Get all three stories for 1 credit.
If you could sum up The Forbidden Series in three words, what would they be?
    could be longer
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Forbidden Series?
jumping from the first characters to thier grandchildren....so many untold stories in-between!
    Any additional comments?
well worth it, I would have liked a longer story. A well crafted world with likable characters, it seems a pity drop the characters of the first story, ship a generation and wizz through to a conclusion...each story could have been 3 times longer...That aside, I enjoyed this series.

Great start to a new sci-fi series!
This book started out slowly, but it was necessary to establish the 'origin' story for the rest of the series.
The narrator did a great job, giving each character their own sound and feel.
Definitely worth checking out if you're into government conspiracies, aliens, Roswell, etc. I'm not particularly into any of those things and I still enjoyed this quite a bit. By the end of the book, I was looking into getting the next one in the series!
I received a free copy of this book from the author, publisher or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
    I don't want to Escape!
Escape: Omega Book 1 By Keith Latch was a nice short little surprise! It feels like the 3 hrs and 27 mins was almost "taken" away from a bigger book! So it ends a bit "weird" to be honest, and i cant say i think book 2 when that comes will just start where this end! This is my first Keith Latch book, and i will say it was a nice first hallo! This was ON THE MARK 4 out of 5 book, so i feel not bad about giving it that! It was no 4, something, and i like a reviewer can say i really like that! It is a "easy sci fi" with i can see more coming!
Now you will hear something i never thought i would say: Bob Kern makes to much voices! There you have it! He tries to hard! Yeah, there you have it! Bob Kern is trying to hard. When that is said, i will say i cant say something wrong more then that! So i do recommend this in a high regard!

    The Possible future
    Hydra review.
I've always been an avid reader, but must say that e-readers and Amazon Kindle books have made a huge difference in what and how much I read. I love the fact that new authors are able to make their books more accessible and affordable to the public than in the past when we had to rely on publishing houses to decide what would be a good read that would make them the most money.
In the world of hardcover books, I might never have had the opportunity to read Graham Stull's first novel, The Hydra. That would have been quite a loss. This book covers issues that I've contemplated over the past years as I've watched our world change.
So many people on earth. All a product of their upbringing and circumstance. So many from poor or dysfunctional families, molded into poor and, or, dysfunctional adults due to the lack of access to a good education, healthcare and social services. Others privileged, some raised by parents unable to teach their children compassion and understanding having been the offspring of the same type of parents. These children grow up to be selfish, entitled, uninformed and uncaring about anything beyond their pampered, and privileged existence. The chasm grows wider. For those in the middle, who have had an opportunity to grow and thrive, many now are just trying to hold on, keeping jobs, food on the table and their families intact, thoughts about our changing world, climate change, over population, and the future can become overwhelming.
This story hits home. The personalities of the characters are intimately revealed to the reader. Most likely the reader knows people in real life with similar personalities. This book's storyline revolves around the life experiences that mold the main characters. You understand them, or you don't, but you keep turning the pages in anticipation of what will happen next.
I highly recommend this book. It is fiction that portrays one of the many possible scenarios of our future. It left me considering how I might feel if such a situation actually became reality. This book is difficult to put down until the revealing end.
    Enjoyed the Book
It was difficult for me to latch onto this book because I'm not fond of reading trials, but I looked forward to the chapters Brian Matterosi told of his life. Further into the tale, I became interested in the trial despite my distaste for them.

Or maybe it's already too late.

A great story to enjoy with your family
This is a wonderful fantasy tale that takes place in the future. I loved the interaction between the two main characters, they were very funny with their back and forth banter. It's a wonderful short story for all ages and perfect for the holiday season. I think it would be great for the whole family to read after your family gathering on Thanksgiving or if you have the audio version you can all listen while decorating the tree. A great story to enjoy with your family this holiday season.
Loved the narration. It was very fitting for the tale.
Futuristic domed cities - will they last?
In a far future, humanity is tightly controlled, and has been, for several generations. Many of these rules and cultural norms were put in place to ensure the survival of the species. However, now may be the time to start a change and it starts by asking about the past, religion in general, and the long-extinct practice of Christmas.
Thomat and Draven are two young men, or at least considered young by their societys standards. Humans life for many hundreds of years now in their little domed cities. Reproduction is tightly controlled through artificial births. Their world has plenty of logic and science but no religion to speak of. Yet when one of these men overhears and Elder speaking of some bit of arcane forbidden knowledge, he cant help but want to follow up.
In this short piece, the author brings up several very interesting questions about religion and what it means to an individual versus to the masses. Christmas and Christianity is the starting point for Dravens & Thomats exploration into the forbidden past but it doesnt end there. Other religions are briefly touched upon.
The focus was more on the joint believe by many people and celebration of life, family, friends rather than any religious minutiae. Im not a religious person myself so I really appreciated this aspect of the story. Since all births are basically carried out via machines, the world Thomat and Draven inhabit have lost the idea of family. You can easily see why they were fascinated by the topic of Christmas and were willing to risk the punishment of expulsion to dig up more info.
My one little quibble is that all the speaking roles are male characters. There are two female characters that are referred to but they have little if any weight in this story. Setting that aside, I really enjoyed this short tale. I will definitely be enjoying more stories from Julie Powell.
I received a copy of this audiobook at no cost from the author (via a post on Quiet Fury Books Blog) in exchange for an honest review.
Narration: Don Warrick had a very nice voice and he did excellent in performing distinct voices for all the characters. I really enjoyed how he embued wonder in Thomats and Dravens voices as they explored the forbidden knowledge. He also did a very elderly man quite well.
    A World without Christmas
    Any additional comments?
For a short story this one brings out a lot of thought. No religion No Christmas.

Can Alyson keep the ghost of her mother at bay long enough to survive?
    Members Reviews:
    Witty debut
Part X-men, part Avengers, this novel is a nerd's dream come true. I thoroughly enjoyed the names Karcz gave to his cast of heroes, especially #Trending!
Nightingale is the name of one such hero and she is not what I expected. She's neurotic and consumed with guilt about something from her past, and when she's called on by the head hero, I began biting my nails because this couldn't possibly go well, could it?
Karcz's characters are witty and fantastic and the world he's built around them is at once familiar and intriguing. The writing is tight and if I had to find fault with the book, it would be that I was a bit confused by the beginning -- a bit of a slow start for me, but don't let that deter you. This is an awesome book and I'm thrilled it's #1 in a series.
    A Great Read
Nightingale is my first super hero novel and I found that I was immediately drawn into the story. The characters are imaginative and quirky, yet so very human. The heroine, Alyson, has been working for years to be accepted into The League as a super hero, all the while hiding a big secret; her very dead and very evil mother is trying to take over her mind and body. Who will win this battle of the wills (and powers)? Itâs a cliffhanger right to the end But wait, thereâs more! It is clear that all is not as it should be in The League. There is trouble ahead. A traitor. Or is he? You are left eagerly awaiting the second book to see what happens.
Unlikeable main character ruined the tale.
I just couldn't get into the main character. Anthony tried to come up with a new twist in why he had a female character with more angst than sense, but in the end I found the cliché boring. It was worse that the plot points used to fill the character with angst were used like a club again and again.
With a main character I pretty much disliked the rest of the tale fell flat. It was an interesting idea, and had potential, but I can't recommend this
Hope author is writing more in this series RIGHT NOW
This ain't your parents' superheroes! What a world Anthony Karcz is creating-- glad to see it is Book 1 in what will hopefully be a long series. Seriously, I couldn't put it down! Witty, a little dark, definitely compelling. A keeper.
I haven't read a great deal in this genre
I haven't read a great deal in this genre, but am definitely looking forward to the next book. The plot and characters were engaging and I can't wait to find out how Nightingale evolves, along with her superhero cohorts. There are a lot of mysterious things left hanging to keep the reader looking for more.

I haven't read the print version.

Michael Pauley delivers distinct characters that involve you in the story. The use of sound effects enhanced the narrative.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
