LOVE CHRISTMAS, LOVE COWBOYS!

I was pleasantly surprised by this story (was expecting a quick, sexy read) it had a good plot, strong characters and of course my HEA! I always try to read the seasonal stories and they're usually pretty good - this one was really good!

fun book easy read.

Fun story. Easy to ready a bit short would love to have a bit longer story but over all a lot of fun. I am sure you will enjoy this one.

I liked the story but was distracted by the excessively verbose descriptions for everything. Self doubt and self criticism in steroids. Not pretty, and not necessary for what I thought was a Christmas story.

The lighter angsty side of Amy Lane

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It's a sweet, humorous, and romantic love story. Of course, since this is Amy Lane, you have to know the other shoe will drop and your heart will be ripped out at some point. Because that's how Amy Lane rolls.

I loved both characters and thought their long-distance relationship was handled really well. Hugh Bradley's narration kept me entertained, the story got me to laugh and ugly cry (in public no less, thanks Amy Lane!), and I was rooting for Dawson and Jared until the very end.

The supporting characters here, Benji, Darian, Amber, Dawson's dad elevated this for me from a sweet, lovely story, to one of the top three Amy Lane books I've read.

I had one issue with the whole agent mess toward the end which I didn't buy in the slightest and felt was misplaced, but other than that niggle, I had a great time listening to this and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this, especially for those who enjoy the lighter angst-filled side of Amy Lane.

I loved the story and the actor reading it. It was fun but not overly sentimental and the erotic scenes were not over done.

A Nice Story

Where does Behind the Curtain rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Probably in the top half. I really liked it, but it didn't give me any major reactions.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dawson, he's just that goofy, sometimes oblivious idiot who can't keep his mouth shut, but he's incredibly sweet, caring, and understanding.

Any additional comments?

I really like books that have a fair amount of comedy in them to balance out all of the angst and heart-wrenching moments, and this book didn't have much comedy. It was a bit to serious and dramatic for me.

Hugh "gets" these guys and the story is great

This is a sweet story of two people, seemingly in opposite phases of life, coming together and finding love.

Getting Back to Love

These men have built a life for themselves. They have also built a farm as well that supports not only themselves but other people as well. But as so often happens in life both get so busy they loose sight of each other. But when there is a threat it helps both men see how much they mean to each other and work at getting back what is really important.

Bothered by narrator, didn't finish the book

I think perhaps I was used to Sean Crisden reading for this series. I was bothered by the narrator for some reason. I returned the book before finishing the first chapter so my rating of the story and overall are not necessarily accurate. I have others in my library that are narrated by the same person. I bought them all during the sale. I'm hoping I like the narrator if he is reading for a series I haven't listened to before. :(

I enjoyed the story and felt the writer pulled me into the story nicely. Lots of the writing reminded me of my issues growing up attending Junior and Senior high school in Los Angeles.

Pretty cheesy

This is a pretty cheesy Harlequin type mm romance book. It is over the top sappy; which I have been known to enjoy if I like the MC. But I just didn't connect with the wolf or stallion or the contrived conflict btwn Jonah's "fundamentalist" family. It was all just too much and the writing was pretty mediocre. I almost DNF it, but the narrator was pretty good so I pressed on. Lots of sex but not much else IMHO. Not worth a credit unless you like that sort of thing. Maybe a sale.

ok story

is an okay story maybe a different narrator would have made it a little bit better. they should have second thoughts on using this narrator.

good idea, not a great book

The premiss was good, original. But I found the story lacking. It consists of a lot of dialogue between the MCs and a lot of Cole's thoughts. There is a lot of repetition in those thoughts, and a lot of angst/negative thinking. It's not bad though, the emotions are quite intense and there are several intriguing concepts. The Kindle price is low enough for it to be something to pick up.

I got the 'audio companion' with it for a nice price too, so that's ok. The narration wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. Part of that is personal preference, part of it is that the narrator doesn't differentiate between characters very much.

Another Wild Romp with Sanders!

Would you listen to Glen & Tyler's Paris Double-Cross again? Why?

I rated the first two novels in the series five stars. Paris Double-cross is no exception. You'll find yourself compelled to listen to all three books in the series again and again, due to Sanders' characters, dialogues, narration and plot lines. His wit is so fast and the whimsy so creative I finished Paris Double-cross and immediately went back to the beginning; the same was true for Honeymoon Adventure and Scottish Troubles. (I couldn't run the risk of possibly missing something.)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course, the main characters, Glen and Tyler are always my favorites. Then you have Glen and Tyler's bodyguards James and Kevin...hot, hot men. Tyler's grandmother is always armed with a good deal of snark. In Paris Double-cross, even the skinheads and fascist billionaires (redundant, I know) hold your attention.

What about Brian Rollinss performance did you like?

I love Brian Rollins' incredible range of voices; you always know who's speaking, even when there isn't a tag.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A must-see magical mystery tour.

Although it's not necessary, I'd advise buying all three novels in the series and listening to them in order. In doing so, you'll immediately recognize the subtle references.

Great addition to the series. Sanders does a great job keeping the story interesting and fun.

Too much fun!

This series is loads of good, escapist, fun! I have read the first three books and enjoyed each one thoroughly. Can't wait to read the others. And the narrator does a very good job with voices and accents.

Given I've listened to this three times already, enjoying it every time, I'd say I was hooked. I love Glen and Tyler: their relationship, their protectiveness of those they care for, and their smarts. More please.

Yes I would, I love the way it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Webber I think. I love how he continually grows as a person, and keeps on romancing Tristan regardless.

Have you listened to any of Finn Sterlings other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to An Unconventional Courtship first, which I strongly suggest you do before listening to this one, and I love how he carried over the same tones from that book for the characters.

Oh hell yes! This book made me laugh, cry, laugh while I was crying!

Note ** this is the second book in a series that must be read in order, or you will be totally lost.

Webber Kincaid, CEO of Kincaid international and his boyfriend, Tristan Moreau are still getting used to their status as a couple while dealing with the fallout from the former CFOs corrupt business dealings. Great 2nd book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if they read the 1st book. This book picks right up where the 1st one ends. Also, the narrator is excellent.

What other book might you compare Out of the Darkness to and why?

I don't read many m/m/m books, so don't have any to compare. But this is basically a book about relationships in all their complicated glory. There is a lot of fighting between Dan and Evan in this book and a lot of miscommunications. There were many times during the listening of this book when I just wanted them to break up and be done with it. But the author does a good job at not making anyone the "bad guy" They are all to blame to some extent for the conflict. It's just like life.

What does Peter B. Brooke bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

The narrator does a fantastic job of giving a realistic voice to each character and projecting their personalities. They are all flawed in some way, but all very lovable at the same time. Although I really didn't like his female voices; way to high and whiny at times. There are many witty and funny moments in this series (usually involving Evan) and the narrator does a great job with those.

If you could take any character from Out of the Darkness out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would take Dan so I could slap him up against his head and say "stop it"!! He continues to overthink everything and feel he is not good enough. I think that is why I love this series. I am really engaged in the various characters and their lives and really want it to work out for them.

Any additional comments?

I write this review having read the 3rd book and I can say the 3rd is my favorite. This book is necessary to really appreciate the commitment these men have to each other. It is frustrating sometimes, but worth it in the end. Even though I have read the 3rd book, I'd still buy it on Audible if it had the same narrator. This one is definitely worth a credit.

What made the experience of listening to Out of the Darkness the most enjoyable?

The narrator is superb for this one. His hits the various characters emotions with just the right tone.

Nice O'Shea book!

I love getting a nice m/m romance that isn't too sappy and is filled with romance and drama!!!

This was a good listen... I enjoy it... and the smexy parts were nice too... This is about when bullies get their come-up-ins, and end up falling for the guy they bullied!!! I loved it...

The best part was the fight with the drunkard! LOL!!!

I really enjoyed this mm romance based in the small NW town of Rock Bay. This is a great enemies to lover story that hit all the right cords with me. Tally was a bully in high school and tortured Lex. After losing everything and coming to terms with being gay, Tally returns to Rock Bay and meets Lex again. The story is a little angsty, but has a great supporting cast of characters including a kick ass supportive grandma. It takes various twists and turns to get to their HEA, some of which you might say "WTF?". But overall it is a great comfort read/listen as the narrator does an excellent job. It also introduces new characters that set up the next two books, which I will also get. Worth a credit.

Childhood Bully becomes lover

I've always liked the idea of a childhood bully falling in love with the object of aggression but couldn't find any that drew my interest until I came across the ebook version of Coming Home. I was excited when I found that it had an audiobook version as well, but wasn't immediately drawn by the narrator's style.

Tom Vilot sounds disconcertingly like a text-to-speech program when he's reading the narrative. Which is puzzling because he actually does pretty well with the dialogue. So, stiff and monotone when reading narrative, but normal and expressive when reading dialogue. It was odd, but didn't put me off like Jeff Gelder because at least he wasn't monotone the entire time and spoke at a decent pace. There were a couple of instances that I noticed he said the wrong word (toilet paper instead of toilet water when he got to the part where Lex remembered the time Tally dunked his head in the toilet). Nothing too obvious, but I've read the ebook more than once so I noticed when the narrative deviated a bit.

Having said that, I still enjoyed this version since it provides me with a way to re-read the story without having to actually read it again.
