    Publisher's Summary:
Ten years after Dorjan trusted a boy's word over his superior officer's, he and his best friend, Areau, are still living the aftermath - and trying to stop the man responsible. Locked in a careful dance to bring down a corrupt government, Dorjan struggles to balance his grief with Areau's anger. Just when Dorjan reaches the end of his rope, he sees a familiar face in the shadows, and the boy he trusted a decade before offers him unexpected kindness.
Taern remembers the soldier who found him under the rushes and listened to his pleas to save his family. When Dorjan reappears in his life, Taern is both captured by his commitment to justice and terrified by the risks he takes. All Taern wants to do is fix him, but the oncoming destruction has been ten years in the making, and Dorjan doesn't want his help. Not if it puts Taern at risk.
Powers clash and a world's fate dangles between Areau's madness and Dorjan's nobility. While Dorjan fights to save the world, Taern joins the battle simply to save Dorjan, knowing everything hinges on the heart of a man in armor and the strength of the man who loves him.

    Interesting journey
I am a huge fan of Amy Lane's...read more from this author than any other so when this book popped up, I was excited to dive on in. Nick Russo did a great job with narration and added much to the journey. The story is a good one and the characters within the story grab at your heart...Dorjan and Taern's and Madame M brought so much to the story. But beginning this story, I almost did not wish to finish it but I am glad that I did. I had a hard time exporting myself to the land that Amy lays out for the reader. Much of the descriptors of the technology on this strange new world left me feeling a bit confused. I was unable to picture in my mind, thus it left me feeling a bit 'off'. Once you get into the story, it grabs you and as for me I just ignored what I did not really understand (which periodically drove me batty). As in typical Amy Lane fashion, the story elicited many emotions that included anger, happiness, sadness, tears, and laughter. I would recommend because I am a fan of Ms. Lane's and others might be able to transport themselves to this interesting world.
Unique story with a masterful performance
If you are a fan of The Scarlet Pimpernel, Zorro or even Robin Hood, you will enjoy this unique story from Amy Lane. This is not a sweet story as there are some very dark elements about it. But like all of Ms. Lanes stories, there is a HEA. This is based in an alternative universe that I would describe as a steampunk, Victorian England, where mechanized machines and steam engines exist next to the stews where the poor and disenfranchise try to survive. Dorjan is a man who acted on his principles and he and his best friend, Areau, paid a high and tragic price. Dorjan has a REALLY bad martyr complex as a result and spends years in penance. Until he meets Taern. I have to say, I absolutely loved Taern. Even though he has also had tragedy in his life that has forced him to become a rent boy, he did not let that break him. And he has set his sights on Dorjan and absolutely nothing is going to stop him from getting him. He is exactly what Dorjan needs and they have the best banter and a wonderful slow burn romance. This story is hard in places as it deals with power, greed, war and corruption.

    Quiet love story.
Did Michael Ferraiuolo do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Michael Ferraiuolo delivers a solid performance without going over the top in this quiet love story.
    Any additional comments?
Buyer be aware: The editing and sound quality at times was a little grainy and glitchy, but does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the story.
Riley is a boy who's been destroyed so badly he's considered a "lifer" at Hartfield, the mental institution he's been in for over two years, and he's been in and out of institutions for ten years. His story is heartbreaking and hopeful all at once because it's not until he has someone to show him his worth he begins to fight for himself and it is a beautiful thing to get to listen to.
Hunter, on the other hand, takes his own self-destruction to new lows. His circumstances end with a choice - confinement at Hartfield or prison. At Hartfield he gets roomed with Riley and it's frankly the best thing to ever happen to him. I just loved hearing the steps Hunter goes through to get better.
Ferraiuolo brings to life the pain, frustration, hope, happiness and love they find in a pretty hopeless place and at a very difficult time in both their lives.
I liked the dual POV, getting into both character's heads and seeing what they were feeling, because, frankly, there's a whole lot of "telling" in this story and not a lot of "showing"; a lot of what happens is mental, and for those looking for a steamy story - beware - the steam level here is really low. I didn't miss it though, because this really was more about the emotional connection more than any physical one.
To be honest, there were a couple of things I didn't like. I would have liked a little more action and steaminess; more time of them actually being able to be together. But my biggest complaint is I didn't like that I never got to find out what happened to Riley's parents or his abductors, John and Miranda Lee. I realize it's about how Riley's feeling and doing, but I would have loved at least one therapy session to include some tidbit about what had happened to the Lees and what ended up happening with his parents.
My imagination has John and Miranda Lee still in prison being tortured and beaten daily.

    Thoughtful, intense, and authentic.
Now hereâs an incredible taleâ of obsession, of class, of seeking, of losing, and maybe of finding. Told from Page 1 by a writer in masterful control of language and tone, Papposâ novel about his decade as an up-and-coming consultant at Command (a fictional consulting firm) came on like the rush of a fast flood, sweeping me into the story with barely time to catch my breath. His sentences are compact, his descriptions succinct... telling without being overblown... exactly enough to let me, as a reader, find the fullness of what's being told. My mind felt very awake taking this novel in.
At times hilarious, at other times wicked, 'Hotel Living' is always entertaining. Iâm often surprised how some writers have a 'great ear' for dialog â and Iannos Pappos is one of them. And he has an uncanny knack for remembering it, getting down all the elision and cadence of real conversation. Of course, 'Hotel Living' is full of zingers and sharp verbal exchanges. But it's all told in dense, smart writing that felt natural to the way people talk and the way the characters were as individuals. Authentic.
Edmund White likens this book to Trollopeâs âThe Way We Live Now.â Others compare it to âThe Wolf of Wall Street.â For me, Papposâ writing conjured up Hemingwayâs âThe Sun Also Rises.â A raw, intense story built around a figure I didnât necessarily love (at first) or understand but nevertheless pulled me in, made me believe, made me care. Wonderful all the way.
Interesting Story Line Ruined by Excess
This book gets 2 stars only for its intelligent writing. But I stopped reading this book at least 5 times for the gore level of perversion, swearing to return it to the bookstore, only to pick it up again when I ran out of other books to read. I wanted to give it a chance, but was repelled by the world of drugs and sex the author chose to depict. If the subject matter had truly stuck with the overview shown on the back cover, all would have been fine. Readers don't need to be titillated with seamy details and lifestyles in order to be captivated by a financial crisis or insider trading story. Because the narrative presented far more of the dark material than one might expect from reading the overview, perhaps the bookstores need to find a section other than "Fiction" to set these types of books away from the eyes of us who just want a good read. In the end, I could not finish this book.

Emotional story with a beautiful ending.
Where does Here for You rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It's up there. I love anything Paul Morey narrates, but this book especially had an amazing storyline as well.
What other book might you compare Here for You to and why?
Amy Lane, Beneath the Stain. similarly emotionally damaged characters.
    Which scene was your favorite?
That is entirely too naughty to post here. I did quite like the family dinners the roomies shared.
If you could take any character from Here for You out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Cole of course. He just seems like he would be so much fun.
    Any additional comments?
Life is a thread connecting us. One pull and it all unravels.
After being basically abandoned by his mother in his youth, Cole Gannon has always longed for a family. Together with his four roommates, he has finally found the family atmosphere and love he always wanted. Then tragedy strikes and threatens the foundation of Coles nuclear family. The one person that wants to be a shoulder for Cole to cry on, to lean on, is the one person Cole has spent the last several months pushing away.
Ian Stark has been enamored with Cole since the first day he saw him at a BBQ his intern Brandon invited him to. Brandon is Coles best friend and one of the four roommates. He is also slightly smitten with Ian. Its this conflict of interest and Coles devotion to Brandon that stop him from acting on his mutual attraction to Ian. That is, until Brandon is hurt and the only person Cole can think of to find solace with is Ian.
As Cole and Ian grow closer, Coles little family drifts further apart. While Cole has always been the glue holding them all together, Brandon was the roots that kept Cole grounded. Without him, Cole is confused, lost and hurting. Cole is torn between two worlds he wants to merge that refuse to blend.
This was a dark and emotional story. There were a lot of tears and anguish, but there was also love, beauty and hope. The little bit of angst that dotted the story was not only necessary, it was well done. Cole is in pain and confused about the rift growing between him and the three remaining roommates. How fucked up is it that life hands you the man you have always wanted, wrapped up in a pretty little bow, but demands such a hefty price in return. Ian is steadfast and loyal though, forever patient with Cole and his mood swings and random outbursts.

    Brilliant Lesbian Story
This was unexpectedly fun and different. The narration was good, the story was interesting and well worth a listen.
The cover really doesn't do it justice.
This is one of my favorite audio books that I have listened to this year.
Not Especially Realistic; Still Good Though
I'm not certain what era this story is set in, or what country for that matter. When a 140 pound woman can beat a 180 pound man; a professional fighter no less you know that a lesbian writer is engaging in wishful thinking. Still this a piece of fiction that avoided many of the more common cliches present in more than enough books. The Gutter is a sweet bit of metaphor for a section of the city where hopes go to die. The way the lead character's dreams come true is a nice touch as is her escape from the book's main antagonist. This wasn't a great story, but for a fan of an under represented genre, it's good enough.
great but could have been awesome
great story love the whole thing :) I like any story with lbgt features i enjoyed the plot but felt it end to soon the world building was fun but as with the plot it felt cut off in places 4.5 star
Good character, good tale, rushed reading.
What did you love best about The Only Way?
The challenges faced by the main character, the driving story.
Did Elizabeth Saydah do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Not exactly... Saydah used maybe 3 voices, but - like most of her reading in the book - the voices were rushed so it was hard to hold onto the distinctions. She actually seemed to rush MORE over dialogue than anything else, which was sometimes actually irritating.
    Any additional comments?
Good story, love the premise and the main character, and very glad to see more diverse fiction getting into Audible. However, the reading felt REALLY rushed and the emotion/drama was lost in the reader's odd, flat tempo. Almost seemed that Saydah was just trying to get thru it rather than voicing the story, and she didn't take time to emphasize the action and dialogue. Coupled with the author's unrefined writing style, I think it made the overall experience feel too immature, even if you think of it as YA. I think reading the book myself would have been the better way to go, and that's what I would recommend to others thinking of getting the Audible.

    it is worth it
a story of real love that will not be broken it is so much u !, love it
    Outstanding Surprise
I bought this book as a bit of brain candy with fairly low expectations. What I got was a fantastic swashbuckler with a wonderful story. The characters are easy to love and, despite it being a romance for two men, Berrisford doesn't leave the ladies out. The women in this book are just as enchanting as our leading men and I'd love to read a book just about them!
There are points when the wording seems a little goofy, but when you consider it's from Raef's point of view, it makes it actually very endearing. Overall, there were no boring parts. Each resolution had a new twist that kept my interest. It was romantic and sexy without being too overloaded with smut. I'd consider this book a very pleasant surprise.
    underwhelming
Bless the voice actor's heart he really gets into those sex scenes. I had to force my way through most of this. The minor characters were much more interesting than the main ones and I just wish the book had been about them.

Two words stripped Austin Pritchard of the privileged life he was used to. The moment he uttered the words "I'm gay," he realized there is no such thing as unconditional love. Now he's gone from traveling the world with his family to living on the streets, trying to figure out how he's going to stay in school.
A chance opportunity changes everything. Austin impresses the foreman and lands a job, but even more, he catches the eye of David Becker, who is determined to teach him that true love doesn't come with strings.
The only thing David had as a child was love. His family struggled to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. That has driven him to stay focused on his goals, become a tenured professor at a university, and save enough money to build a home of his own. It's not until he sees an insecure college student working on his new house that he realizes he hasn't planned on someone to share his life with. He's about to learn that everything he's already accomplished is nothing compared to the task of making Austin see that he is worthy of love.

    Loving Oneself...
This is a tale about learning to see the true you and that sometimes you need a bit of help. David and Austin's story reminds us that overcoming obstacles can happen if you just get out of your own way. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend...
    worst narration ever
This writing appears to be mediocre, but it is hard to tell because the narration is so very, very poor. There is the usual mispronunciation of words, which I have come to expect, but that is not nearly so irritating as it usually is because this narration is completely devoid of tone, characterization, and expression. It could have been read by computer.
There is no indication that the narrator is actually reading the words in any sequence as the emphasis is often on the wrong word in sentences, and the the pauses between sentences so short, including between the words of two different characters in dialogue, that they are delivered as a long monologue. The listener has to try and retrospectively piece back together what the author might have intended.
There is no attempt to differentiate between the voices/accents of the two main characters, despite being of different generations and from different parts of the USA, and neither of them are given any expression. It's very fortunate the author begins each chapter by telling us the POV, otherwise you would never know.
I can't finish the book, so I don't know how good the story ends up being. This will be the first book I have returned to Audible.
    Not really feeling it
The story isnt bad. Its just not really good either. I dont Think this author is for me since i do not Seem to get a feel for his characters. It is just listening to a good story about People that i do not care about. But maybe it is just me - i like the books where the MCs are People u miss when u finish and this one i just missing that "extra" something.

Heart's Song (Ugly Eternity Book 2)
I am loving this series. This book explores the complicated relationship between Maddox, lead singer of Ugly Eternity and Hawke, who we met in book one. I love Hawke!
I don't want to give too much away as far as the whys of Maddox's constant back and forth. Maddox knew eventually Hawke would have enough of his games. Hawke loves Maddox and is tired of not being enough. So Hawke is at his limit. He changes his number, packs up and moves, quits hanging at the bar, all without a word to Maddox or any of the guys. Maddox with the help of his band mates finds Hawke and insituates himself back into Hawke's life. Confessing their love to each other they begin to build a life together.
But there is someone else in the equation.
I have to say...the dinner party scene with Hawke and Sophie's parents was absolutely the best! And that was when I began rooting for the 'underdog' (if you know who I mean). And speaking of...
Book Three is due next week and I can not wait! I am so excited for Jamie's story. And yeah, I'll say it, I'm team Jamie all the way!
    5 stars
Decent reading, but alas a bit too short
I did not read the first book, but I don't think it matters much. This is about Hawke and Maddox.
For many months Hawke has been patiently waiting for Maddox to offer more than a quick romp in the utility room. They come together in Hawke's house, but never visit where Maddox lives. Even if Hawke loves Maddox with his whole heart, he decides - after yet another condescending hand job in the backroom - to end it all.
It actually takes a while before Maddox discovers how thoroughly Hawke has severed their connection. And then a while to get near Hawke again. Suddenly it's Maddox who is chasing Hawke's affection. He introduces him to his daughter and does whatever he can to seduce Hawke back to his arms. It seems that Maddox has changed totally and is now pursuing a commitment and a HEA with Hawke.
I personally think Hawke deserves better, but it's the writer's privilege to decide what will happen to the characters.
I must admit I could not always follow the innuendos. Since there is another book in the pipeline, I wonder what the author has in stock for the readers.
    HEART PUMPING ROMANCE
Maddox and Hawke are on it hot and heavy....the story picks up right where the last one stopped. There are a few surprises that I didn't see coming. But I was very happy that at the end, they were in love.

    Publisher's Summary:
Noah thinks he's nothing special. Average height, a bit on the skinny side, and cute but rather geeky, he's relentlessly ordinary. He certainly doesn't expect to be noticed by Sol, the gorgeous, dark-haired stranger Noah sees on his commute home most days. But when Noah's friend, Dom, persuades Noah to take a huge risk in a bid to get Sol's attention, things turn out better than Noah dared to hope. Noah and Sol start dating, and much to Noah's surprise, his feelings seem to be reciprocated.
But Noah's insecurities make him doubt Sol. He doesn't believe he's interesting enough or sexy enough to hold Sol's attention, and as Sol tries to get closer, Noah's instinct is to pull away to protect himself. If their relationship is going to survive, Sol needs to convince Noah that he sees Noah very differently than Noah sees himself. Because to Sol, Noah is something very special indeed.

    Nice story
Liked how the story flowed and the narration was great. This author is a nice one. I have multiple story from the author. would recommend.
    Great Read
No matter how many times I read this story I love it. T he narrator is great he brings the story 2 life.
Sol & Noah's story is well done.
The characters have depth, you totally fall for Sol and Noah is so sweetly shy and insecure. However, he is still a man, just with feels. I enjoyed reading an actual storyline with appropriate storyline time elapse. Oh, and hot m/m action.
Not a story to listen to in the car.
Decent story, but the narration leaves something to be desired.
The difference in volume between the dialog and the directional narration is pretty vast.
You turn the volume up to listen to a conversation between the characters and then you're being yelled at when the narrator is informing you what is physically happening.
    I love this Series!
Noah is a shy guy, a little low on self-esteem, but knows something good when he sees it.
Sol, named after the sun, is as hot as all that, but, surprisingly, a super-sweet guy, too.
Noah sees Sol day after day on the train and one day Noah gets brave enough to ask Sol out and, wonder of wonders, Sol agrees! The two end up on the longest first date ever and with very little fanfare, find themselves in a relationship.
This is not a book full of angst or mystery. It is just so stinking fun, touching, nice and sexy I loved it. It was like eating a bowl of ice cream on a hot afternoon. Tasty, sweet, and leaving you feeling happy you took the time out to appreciate it.
I absolutely loved that Noah, though amazed at his good fortune, almost never lets his self-esteem issues get in between him and Sol. I loved how the families were not the problem, or society. Instead it was just two guys, genuinely caring for each other, navigating the first days of a romance and taking it all the way to their happy ever after. I LOVED the ending. LOVED IT!
Jay Northcotes writing is crisp and well-paced. The editing is perfect and the over all effect is a very tight, happy, well-done novel.
    Audio
Matthew Lloyd Davies has done several Jay Northcote titles now and he has a very nice, respectable British way about him. In general I like his narrations and think he does a nice job handling the emotional aspects of the storylines. In this case he doesnt make a huge distinction between Sol and Noah, but you can tell who is who.
