Title: The Book of Daniel: An Expositional Commentary
    Author: Chuck Missler
    Narrator: Chuck Missler
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 15 hrs and 33 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-13-17
    Publisher: Author's Republic
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 14 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Daniel had the most incredible career imaginable; he was transported as a teenage captive to a pagan empire and became the primary confidante to the ruler of Babylon. When Babylonia was taken over by its enemies, he rose to the second or third position in the Persian Empire. There are only two people in the Bible other than Jesus Christ of which no evil is spoken, Joseph and Daniel.
The book of Daniel is in two halves: the first six chapters are historical, which deal with the adventures and career of this remarkable man. The second six chapters are some of the most pivotal and important prophecies of the entire Bible. Without a clear understanding of the book of Daniel, you will not understand the times in which we live.

    Any additional comments?
Although I don't always agree with Chuck, most of his teachings are very good with tons of additional information that gives you a better understanding of the times.
    Extraneous Repetition Galore
AUTHOR SEEMS TO FORGET HIS AUDIENCE IS NOT VISUAL AND SHOULD HAVE EDITED EVERYTHING. story is only rated high because of the tremendous historical facts I did not need! Should have been edited to remove repetitive facts and phrases. LISTENER gets lost in all the secular details and the stammering.

    a great book.

    Great discipleship tool
    THE Textbook For Bible Study
I read through this book as part of an online Christian bible study course. I found the authors to be very engaging and realistic. They explained the various methods of bible study in easy to understand terms, yet it never seemed as if I was being spoon-fed the material. I felt like I needed to stop and think about what I had read, which means I got more out of it and would reread certain sections for even more clarity.
I would recommend this book to any serious bible student.
A good digital version, but the physical book has a few additional details
This is a classic and necessary book for Bible study, a treasure for those who read it and apply its methods towards God's Word. There are a few vignettes that are not included in the digital version and the organization can be choppy during some of the extra portions at the end of some chapters, but it is still very good and worthwhile.

    Title: Unseen

    Publisher: Zondervan
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 53 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Every heart longs to be seen and understood. Yet most of our lives are unwitnessed. We spend our days working, driving, parenting. We sometimes spend whole seasons feeling unnoticed and unappreciated. So how do we find contentment when we feel so hidden?
In Unseen, Sara Hagerty suggests that this is exactly what God intended. He is the only one who truly knows us. He is the only one who understands the value of the unseen in our lives. When this truth seeps into our souls, we realize that only when we hide ourselves in God can we give ourselves to others in true freedom - and know the joy of a deeper relationship with the God who sees us.
Our culture applauds what we can produce, what we can show, what we can upload to social media. Only when we give all of ourselves to God - unedited, abandoned, apparently wasteful in its lack of productivity - can we live out who God created us to be. As Hagerty writes, "Maybe my seemingly unproductive, looking-up-at-him life produces awe among the angels."
Through an eloquent exploration of both personal and biblical story, Hagerty calls us to offer every unseen minute of our lives to God. God is in the secret places of our lives that no one else witnesses. But we've not been relegated to these places. We've been invited.
We may be "wasting" ourselves in a hidden corner today: The cubicle on the fourth floor. The hospital bedside of an elderly parent. The laundry room. But these are the places God uses to meet us with a radical love. These are the places that produce the kind of unhinged love in us that gives everything at his feet, whether or not anyone else ever proclaims our name, whether or not anyone else ever sees.
God's invitation is not just for a season or a day. It is the question of our lives: "When no one else applauds you, when it makes no sense, when you see no results - will you waste your love on me?"

    Beautiful
The Lord whispered this book to my heart when I didn't even know it had been existed and He is using it to change me. Thank you Sara for once again being a vessel of The Lords work.
    Life changing
Absolutely loved it. A must read for any Christian, especially the stay at home moms.
    Ready to read again!
I loved it and bought as a gift for others for Christmas! Also bought it in print edition so I can underline and study!
A book needed for these times!
She brings us back to what is really important! Intimacy with our God! Thank you
Depth and vulnerability that captures the very heart of God
This work is so rich after listening to it I purchased a hard copy for myself and will be purchasing many more for others. The depth of God's love amidst the hardest thing... being alone and unseen by our selfie culture. Being seen in the worst of ourselves and the best of ourselves by a God who's love demonstrated here as truly. Sound measure compels me to go well beyond any simple single verse devotional. Deep calls to deep in the deepest places of my heart. Thank you Ms. Hagerty.

    Title: Cross Vision
Subtitle: How the Crucifixion of Jesus Makes Sense of Old Testament Violence
    Author: Gregory A. Boyd
    Narrator: Gregory A. Boyd
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 20 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-11-17
    Publisher: Fortress Press
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 55 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Renowned pastor-theologian Gregory A. Boyd tackles the Bible's biggest dilemma.
The Old Testament God of wrath and violence versus the New Testament God of love and peace - it's a difference that has troubled Christians since the first century. Now, with the sensitivity of a pastor and the intellect of a theologian, Gregory A. Boyd proposes the "cruciform hermeneutic", a way to read the Old Testament portraits of God through the lens of Jesus' crucifixion.
In Cross Vision, Boyd follows up on his epic and groundbreaking study, The Crucifixion of the Warrior God. He shows how the death and resurrection of Jesus reframes the troubling violence of the Old Testament, how all of Scripture reveals God's self-sacrificial love, and, most importantly, how we can follow Jesus' example of peace.

    Faith changer!
When youre 48 years old and been a Christian for over 30 years you think youre pretty set on how you view Christ and your faith. Boyds book not only challenged some of my misconceptions about God, he blew them out of the water! (In a really good way!) My faith in Christ feels more solid and freeing than ever! I truly consider Boyd to be one of the most profound teaching Theologians of our century. Thank you Greg for all your time and research you have clearly invested in this book over the last 10 years! To Christ be the glory!
A well researched and well written argument for a loving God of scripture
Greg Boyd writes well and put a lot of work into the two books that provide the research for this book. That being said, some books dont read well but this one is easy to listen to and is worth listening to a few times.
incredibly thought provoking and bias challenging
very very great content. concepts that will grow your biblical understanding forever.
the overall conclusion on God's part in pain I think is a little out there; but I still have a lot of respect for the message and goal.
    A bold contribution by Boyd
This work is a bold contribution to the conservative hermeneutics that is well ahead of it's time.
    Book is amazing
This book has been extremely enlightening on understanding what God is truly like , I am so thankful it was written.

  • Bitten by a Camel Audiobook by Kent Dobson

    Title: Bitten by a Camel
    Subtitle: Leaving Church, Finding God
    Author: Kent Dobson
    Narrator: Kent Dobson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 7 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-03-17
    Publisher: Fortress Press
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 49 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Kent Dobson climbed Mount Sinai in search of the God who had eluded him. Instead he got bitten by a camel. Dobson was climbing the ladder of Christianity, too: a worship leader, teacher, and ultimately senior pastor of one of the largest and most prominent churches in America. But he was growing disillusioned with the faith, at least inside the shell of organized religion.
    Members Reviews:
Amazing. A must read for anyone who calls themselves a Christian Believer
Kent's ability to crack open and work thru our very deep spiritual issues in a common and real way makes this such a gift. These are some of the heaviest and most contentious issues and questions that every serious believer has asked themselves... even if they can't ask them publicly. This may be the most important book written for Christians in the last 10 years. Why so important?... we claim we want a real and authentic "faith"... but the only way our "faith" can be authentic is if we take the journey of honest reflection and dive into the real questions in our hearts! Kents story gives each of us a map for our own journey into our own unknowns.
Thank you Kent for your humility. Thank you for the grace in which you dealt with the hard questions and hard issues. Thank you for the invitation to live an ordinary life and find and honest spirituality. Thank you that you never saw a need to throw rocks or disparage others. Thank you for sharing your story... it will change the world... it has already begun!
    Honest and Excellent!!!
I was so sad when Kent Dobson resigned from Mars Hill in Michigan, but watching him grow throughout his time teaching there made his choice to move forward, understandable. I am grateful for all that I learned through him, and really pleased with his work in this book. He is right on target. :-)
A Relief to Know We're Not Alone in Our Thinking
Told with humility and an understanding that he nor anyone will have all the answers, Kent's story is relatable. Kent reminds us that exploring curiosity sparks within us that sometimes we must unlearn, unload, and even get bitten by the camel so that we may take another step into trying put into words and comprehend the nature of the divine. Directed more toward those who have felt pushed away by Western Evangelicalism, this story speaks volumes into the doubter, the skeptic, and the unbeliever. Not to dismiss everything about the seemingly staunch and suffocating doctrine of his Evangelical upbringing, Kent more so explores how his church intended good for him but kept him bound from seeking what he would come to later recognize as faith, abounding love, and divine grace. When he realized that the religious institution didn't work for him anymore, he had to ask different questions, no matter how uncertain it left him or who rejected him. I loved this book. Completely relatable, and is a must read.
    Amazing
Thank you so much for sharing its nice to hear I am not alone in my thinking
    Once again thank you
This is my story as well!
Kent's story is my story; so I'm grateful for his courageous honesty to write such a memoir. I was raised an agnostic with no church upbringing. Then I became a follow of God at age of seventeen. My faith was pure, my doubts were pure, and I loved the tension of exploring such a God of mystery.

    This is life changing
I just want to thank the powers to be for allowing John Pontius to share his experiences and lessons learned and his passion and Love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and how we can also find and navigate our way back home to live with him also. My heart is full of gratitude for your sacrifice of sharing and showing us how to incorporate grace in our lives also.
    God Be With You
Very Spiritual and uplifting. Listen and feel the Lord's love in Jon's life. Enjoy and be blessed!
    Inspiring!
John Pontius is one of the most inspiring and spiritual authors I've read. While some may feel his insights are too deep or "out on the fringe" the impressions I have had are that he speaks truth.
    Absolutely loved it! Inspiring!
I absolutely loved this book of short stories, instructional devotionals and testimony from "Brother John" about his life of faith, miracles and his extraordinary and inspiring relationship with Jesus Christ. I wish I could have shared in his Journey as he "un-blogged" his sole,! thanks to his dear wife and others that helped transfer his blog into this marvelous book! Brother John has helped me grow and has marked a path ahead for which I plan to follow until "that perfect day" and beyond. Thanks be to God for Brother John and this book! I just have to add that the narrator was awesome, and I am somewhat sad when the book ended; geuss I'll just have to listen to it again! :)

The latest scientific discoveries point to an intentional creator.
Most of us remember the basics from science classes about how Earth came to be the only known planet that sustains complex life. But what most people don't know is that the more thoroughly researchers investigate the history of our planet, the more astonishing the story of our existence becomes. The number and complexity of the astronomical, geological, chemical, and biological features recognized as essential to human existence have expanded explosively within the past decade. An understanding of what is required to make possible a large human population and advanced civilizations has raised profound questions about life, our purpose, and our destiny. Are we really just the result of innumerable coincidences? Or is there a more reasonable explanation?
This fascinating book helps nonscientists understand the countless miracles that undergird the exquisitely fine-tuned planet we call home - as if someone had us in mind all along.
