    Uggggghhhh
Story is awesome, but please. PLEASE get a reader who knows the correct pronunciation of words...if the story itself wasn't so awesome, I would have stopped listening after the 3rd error...
    Story = A+ Narrator = D
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The story is a great story based in magic & mysticism and the elements that tie the characters together are intriguing and well thought out.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Brothers?
Sadly in the audio performance the flaws of the narrator are the points that stand out the most & the 1 phrase: "Don't kill mah babies!" still resonates with me & not for the impact of the line itself, but for the delivery by the reader.
How could the performance have been better?
The performance, in my opinion, would have been better if the producers would have stuck to the 3 R's...Rehearsal, rehearsal, rehearsal. There were simple things that could have been changed, simple pronunciations that were nowhere near the actual words as well as some of the characterizations being not quite on the mark for me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
With a different narrator this would have been an enthralling must hear book that would have kept my ear-buds in my ears for hours.
    Any additional comments?
Keep well in mind that this is a great book and if you can get around the various mishaps that happen throughout the reading then you'll find it greatly rewarding. Barnes is a very talented writer and well worth the interest and the investment of your time.

And if something smells rotten to a zombie, youre in serious trouble
Before his way of life, er, death, is destroyed, Dan wants answers. Throw in a hairy hit man, a necro-maniac, and a bank robber who walks through walls, and Dan Shambles plate is full. Maybe this time, the zombie detective has bitten off more than he can chew

    It was okay.
Too much going on in the story. I wish the author would have cut a few elements in the story to focus on others to make things a bit more interesting. It is very creative and I love the world this book takes place in.
    Pleasant but boring
I moderately enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one, just dull. A zombie cozy, I guess. The redemption comes in the bad jokes and puns., and the pig.
    Unique
Would you be willing to try another book from Kevin J. Anderson? Why or why not?
In fact, this is my second book by the author. Previously I have read the first book in the series. I eagerly look forward to the next.
What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He brings the character, and the flavor of New Orleans. His southern accent, and his portrayal of the different characters bring a perception of the book that you would not get from simply reading the printed word.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I can't say that it is. If you are looking for something deep, like Lord of the rings or the third kingdom, this ain't it. This is more of a light read. The characters are likable, and the title character will hold your interest. Some books will engross you in their world. This book just brings you along for the heck of it. A fun romp through a unique world where most of the vampires, werewolves, and zombies turn out to be the people you would like to hang with on a Friday night.
    Any additional comments?
It's a good read, but it won't keep you up at night.
A Zombie PI book, how do you beat that? You can't.
Where does Unnatural Acts rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I love the fact that the cases are cool.
    The un-dead have lives too.
There are good and also scumbags among the non-living as well as living.
The humor is THICK and AWESOME!
Awesome Voice to do the audible version. This is book 2, don't forget to read book 1 (Death warmed over) Includes 4 novels and a few short stories Can't wait to read/listen to all of them.

Equally great as the first audiobook! More please.
I love it when a series can maintain its momentum and keep me drawn in with each audiobook listen. And that's definitely happening big time in this series. Book 2 of pretty when she dies: pretty when she kills is a solid truly engaging listen. Such a nice unique spin on vampiric abilities and story line, makes for creative twists and an awesome vampiric soap opera. The narrator continues to impress. Please bring the rest of this series books to audiobook version. I m so excited and look forward to this. And make this series appear on screen too!
    Surprise Plot Twists!
    Any additional comments?
The plot twists were well done and I wasn't expecting a return of certain characters. The detailed areas of planning for fights and traveling could move along a little faster though.
    A great sequel!
Where does Pretty When She Kills rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It's up there definitely in the top 50 out of about 300!
What other book might you compare Pretty When She Kills to and why?
My life as a White trash Zombie by Diana Rowland
Both character are learning to live with their new circumstances!
Which character as performed by Kristin Allison was your favorite?
    Amilyia
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes!
    Any additional comments?
I'm looking forward to book 3! I wish it wasn't just a trilogy!
Dont buy any books to this series.
I bought the first book, it had some problems. I thought I was being overly critical so i decided to give the second try. That was a mistake. There were too many characters. I had to restart one chapter 3 times because I could not figure out who was who. I would hear the narrator say 2 lines and then after the fact realize it's 2 different people. When that was not happening I was getting lost inside the writer's schizophrenic storyline jumping from one group of characters to another. I think the final straw for me was some mysterious ring that was inserted into the story inorder to con us into thinking all of the past random scenes were leading up to this "planed" part of the book. It was just stupid. I am sorry for being so harsh but it was. Someone mentions a ring one other time then all the sudden it's like the most important thing ever. I turned off the book without finishing it.
    UM? What went wrong??
I really enjoyed the first book.

Best read in a long long time !
Being an avid reader across most genre I've been so surprised and pleased to have found Lilith SaintCrow ! Rarely have I found an author as talented as she ! Her mix of story line , description , and characters pulls one into the tale in such a way that one feels as if they are present, able to experiencing it (the story) along side the characters ! Great great fantasy or future reality !!!
Lots of potential, but doesn't quite hit the mark
Would you try another book from Lilith Saintcrow and/or Tanya Eby?
Tanya Eby, yes, even though she pronounces some words strangely (like ballet).
Lilith Saintcrow, perhaps not. Based on this series, her writing appears to be very repetitive and if it were a normal book I'd skim through, but it's hard to do that in an audiobook.
What could Lilith Saintcrow have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Dante's character needed more careful evolution in the series so that they way she ends in this last book makes sense. Also, I understand Dante's character is tough and warrior-like, not necessarily a thinker (despite her love of classics and history), but she comes off as kind of dense. Her intense rages and constant brooding over herself prevent her from using her good sense and skill to actually put together all the clues she gets to come to the right conclusions. For example, she is provided with enough information to understand what the relationship between Hedera and Anankimel (pardon the spelling since it's an audiobook), but she keeps running around getting the same answer from various sources. Hardly ever do we get any new information. If she paid a little more attention instead of letting her emotions go so raw and trying to kill everyone, she might not have descended into utter stupidity as she did in books 4 and 5. They were a real mess plot-wise, with only a few scattered points of interesting writing.
What character would you cut from To Hell and Back?
Perhaps Leander, as his character never developed fully and what was the point of the government tracking them after all.
    Any additional comments?
This series has great potential, but the writing and plot development fell sadly short. I'm not usually harsh on my books, but I wanted very much to like Dante more. Unfortunately, as the series progressed, I liked her less and less. At least Jaf stayed fairly consistent...

Meanwhile, local police detective Rey Solis attempts to solve the mystery of the death of a passengers wife.
    Members Reviews:
    Great continuation of this series
This is the seventh book in the Greywalker series. It was a solid addition to the series but was pretty contained; there was no new big story-arc started.
I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobook was very well done. The narrator does an excellent job and sounds exactly like I imagine Harper would. She also does an excellent job distinguishing between voices.
Harper and detective Solis have both been assigned with the investigation of a mysterious ghostly ship that has appeared in the harbor named the Seawitch. Of course the appearance of the Seawitch is linked with a number of disturbing paranormal things. It is up to Solis and Harper to unravel the mystery behind its reappearance before it is too late.
The story is written in a very detailed and analytical way, like all of the books in this series. These book are very heavy on the investigative aspect of the story. In this installment we are introduced to some new paranormal creatures; mainly mermaids and the Father of all Otters.
There isnt a ton of character growth in this book. Harper spends some time trying to learn how to be a better friend to those around her, but she doesnt really grow in power or learn to use her power as a Greywalker in new ways. More of the story is spent on Solis and him trying to deal with all of the paranormal things he runs in to. Solis is forced to face some uncomfortable truths and he does grow quite a bit. We learn a lot about Solis and his background.
This wasn't really the start of a new broad story arc, the investigation and the Seawitch mystery are fairly self-contained to this one book. There are some things going on with Quentin and his father that sound interesting and are set up to be dealt with in the next book. This set up leads to us learning more about Quentins background.
The plot was well woven and well put together. There are a lot of interesting mystery/paranormal elements that come together in fascinating ways.
Each of the books in this series has focused on something. In this case the book focused on the Father of Otters mythology and boating in general. The story was nicely tied up and there were some things left unresolved that will most likely be tied up in the next book.
Overall a solid addition to this series. The whole book is pretty self-contained and could probably be read just fine as a stand alone novel. It was fun to meet some new paranormal races and we get to learn a lot about Solis and his background. The book sets things up for an interesting storyline involving Quentin and his past in future installments of the series. This whole series is recommended to those who like detailed and analytical investigative urban fantasy.
    Excellent book.
What did you love best about Seawitch?
I wasn't sure if this book would be as good as the previous ones since they had all built to what happened in the last book.

    Publisher's Summary:
The Vampire Chronicles continue with Anne Rice's spellbinding new novel, in which the great vampire Marius returns.
The golden-haired Marius, true Child of the Millennia, once mentor to The Vampire Lestat, always and forever the conscientious foe of the Evil Doer, reveals in his own intense yet intimate voice the secrets of his two-thousand-year existence.
Once a proud Senator in Imperial Rome, kidnapped and made a "blood god" by the Druids, Marius becomes the embittered protector of Akasha and Enkil, Queen and King of the vampires, in whom the core of the supernatural race resides.
We follow him through his heartbreaking abandonment of the vampire Pandora. Through him we see the fall of pagan Rome to the Emperor Constantine and the horrific sack of the Eternal City itself at the hands of the Visigoths.
Bravely, Marius seeks a new civilization in the midst of glittering Constantinople, only to meet with the blood drinker Eudoxia. We see him ultimately returning to his beloved Italy, where after the horrors of the Black Death, he is restored by the beauty of the Renaissance. We see him become a painter living dangerously yet happily among mortals, giving his heart to the great Botticelli, to the bewitching courtesan Bianca, and to the mysterious young apprentice Armand.
Moving from Rome to Florence, Venice, and Dresden, and to the English castle of the secret scholarly order of the Talamasca, the novel reaches its dramatic finale in our own time, deep in the jungle where Marius, having told his life story, seeks some measure of justice from the oldest vampires in the world.

    great book.
Anne Rice is always worth reading, great book.
    Awesome
Marius is my favorite vampire after Lestat, and it was awesome to read his tale and learn of his sufferings and travels. The only part I didn't care for was the retelling of the "Amadeo" part of his life in Venice. It's just weird and not that interesting, really. Overall though this was a fantastic book, I'd say top 3 in the vampire chronicles thus far. Poor poor Marius...easily my favorite vampire after Lestat.

"Your sister is going to hell, Jack Nightingale."
Somehow, variations of that line keep former police negotiator Jack Nightingales life careening in wild, unforeseen directions. And now, as a PI trying to put his life in perspective after his last go-round with the ultimate evil, the chilling phrase returns again. This time it is uttered by a dead woman hanging over a staircase, her neck broken by the laundry cord she tied around it before tossing herself over the banister. But Jack and his sister have been separated since birth. How can he save someone hes never met?
Jack goes on the hunt for the sister he never knew, but everyone he talks to about her dies horribly. Its as if someone or something is determined to keep them apart. If hes going to save his sister, hes going to have to do what he does best: negotiate. But any negotiation with the forces of darkness comes at a terrible price, and first Jack must ask himself a question: is every soul worth saving?
A vise grip of sharp-edged intensity, the second book in the Nightingale trilogy is a relentlessly paced thriller that takes you to the darkest corners of midnight itself.
    Members Reviews:
    Disappointed
I really enjoyed "Nightfall", the first book in this series and started the second recording soon after the first finished which may have been part of the reason I didn't enjoy this as much.
I much preferred the narrator of the first book in the series "Midnight". Actually, I much preferred the first book - then the story seemed fresh and I was willing to overlook some minor irritations with the writing. This time, the story seemed stale and recycled and the minor irritations became more major. The phrases "Nightingale shrugged" and "Nightingale lit a cigarette" were used so frequently that if they were removed from the text, I'm, sure the book would be pages shorter. A disappointing follow up .
Boring mouthpiece for the author's politics
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
BNP members, maybe. If they're not turned off by the author's obsession with smoking.
Would you ever listen to anything by Stephen Leather again?
    Nope
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The Welsh accent was a bit silly.
    Any additional comments?
Every character in this book exists to trumpet the author's politics, either as a strawman target of them or a mouthpiece for them. Some particularly egregious examples include a housing welfare recipient who literally says "I'm entitled, so fuck 'em!" about her neighbors and a taxi driver who brags about getting asylum in England for being Taliban. I wanted a fun supernatural mystery, not a boring political tirade.
    Rich tapestry of British-flavor voices
What made the experience of listening to Midnight the most enjoyable?
For me, the lovely voice of Ralph Lister is one that I want to immerse myself in to pick up the subtle nuances of the working-man London accent, as opposed to the BBC-sterile voices that I usually get exposed to.
What other book might you compare Midnight to and why?
This one was pretty unique in its presentation. It reminded me of a Brit cop show (like Cracker), more reality-based, with the supernormal elements being illustrated as possibly just superstitious crap.

    I really like this series
I really have fun with this series. I listen to a lot of books and always have that moment when I start up a book in a series where I wonder if I'll know what's happening, but he does a concise recap without boring you or overloading you. Mike is doing well, growing, learning, hismcharacter is progressing nicely. Making good choices, with a few bad ones here and there, but he's human. So it stays entertaining and fun.
But, there is this one thing that needs to be discussed. He (author) employs famous dead people throughout both books. The first one was Edgear Alan Poe and a few war generals, I won't spoil whose in this one, but there's some good ones. I have a love/hate relationship with famous dead people having active roles. He does seem to pull it off though. I initially cringed, but they all worked well. At least it wasn't jack the ripper, I hate when when he shows up. I look forward to another book!
    UNDERAPPRECIATED Masterpiece!!!
Second book is as good as the first,
    and from this moment on
Jim Bernheimer is in my top 10 Favorite Authors
and Jeffrey Kafer performed an outstanding narration.
    PS
I was upset to find out that there is no 3rd book as of yet,
but according to the author he has plans
for at least 1 probably 2-3 more books in a dead eye series.
Let's hope they will be available soon.
    Quirky, Funny: Worth it!!
I've just converted to the Jim Bernheimer religion!! the book is funny, fast-paced and a breath of fresh air.
I took a gamble some months back and decided to read "confessions of a d-list supervillain" (Another book by Jim Bernheimer) and was amzazed at how much i liked it. i decided to read another one - although i purchased 'pennies for the ferryman', i still havent read it (in fact, i forgot it was in my library until a few minutes ago when i tried to purchase it!!)
i ended up getting the 'skinwalker conspiracies' some days ago, because of the reviews i read about it.

    Publisher's Summary:
In Celia Graves's world, vampires roam the alleys of Tinseltown, street-corner psychics have real powers, and cops use memory enhancement spells. But Celia thought she was an ordinary human, albeit one with a clairvoyant best friend and a ghostly little sister.
The vampire attack that made Celia an abomination forces her to take food in liquid form and gives a whole new meaning to the word "sunburn". She's slowly adjusting (therapy sessions and all), when she discovers that the attack awakened a hidden part of her heritage: Celia is part Siren, able to enthrall men - and enrage women.
Her best friend's murder is unsolved, the cops think Celia should be in jail or staked, and her old lover, mage Bruno DeLuca, has something important to tell her. To top it all off, Celia's been summoned to the Sirens' island.
Celia Graves has more than one enemy. Some of them want her blood. Some of them want her soul. All of them want her dead.
    Critic Reviews:
"Adams deftly juggles the various story threads, maintaining a good balance of action, character development, mystery, and magic." (

    Interesting read
Would you consider the audio edition of Siren Song to be better than the print version?
Definitely better than the prin, I get all my books as audiobooks just so I can listen to them
Who was your favorite character and why?
Celia, she just keeps pushing through adversity which is pretty impressive.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but I did manage to finish it within a couple days
    Disappointing
I enjoyed Celia in the first book and expected her character to be developed and revelation of what her powers could be. Instead she reacting to elements and softly walking around trying not to offend people because she is a vampire.
For me the series stops here.
