    Love bites.
    Probation sucks.
Thanks to Dante's recklessness, Aurora is now partners with Valerie: the redheaded, backstabbing vixen.
Dante is in full flirt mode. Fane's tactics are more ruthless. Something carnal has awakened in Aurora and neither boy is helping tame her cravings.
When a member of the unit's team is found dead, Aurora and Valerie are sent after a vampire in Sitka, but Aurora suspects the killer's much closer to home.

    Even better than the first!
    Any additional comments?
While I really enjoyed book 1, this was so much better!! It had more details, more action and best of all, more of my all time favourite character Dante, though not nearly enough!!! He just cracks me up.
Aurora is as kick ass as always. She is paired with Valerie for a mission at the start and I loved seeing them together. They are completely different but so fun to listen to. The mission doesn't exactly go as planned and Aurora finds herself trying to figure out who she can trust. Even worse, when she gets home, she goes to one of Marcus' parties and ends up in a bit of bother!! Then she is dealing with her parents marital troubles, her grandmother coming to town and her growing feeling for Dante!! So ya, poor Auroras' life is hectic in this edition!!
What can I say about Dante!!! I loved him in book 1 but it's been cemented in this one. He is so witty and funny but also trustworthy, loyal and hot ;) The chemistry between him and Aurora is smoking so I'm kind of hoping they get together!! They work so well together and get on so well that it would be awesome.
This series, and indeed it's characters, are quickly becoming one of my favourites. With it's unique and quirky take on the vampire hunter and it's witty and entertaining dialogue, this is a must read. The characters are all well written and developed, the plot is fast paced and engaging and it has a lot of laugh out loud moments that it's hard not to love the book! I can not wait to dive into book 3 of this and see what happens the gang next!!!
Em Eldridge, once again, did an amazing job with the story. She distinguished each character and it was easy to follow who was who. She made for the perfect Aurora too because she brought her sass and kick-assness to life :)
*I received a copy of this for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
    AURORA IS AWESOME!!!!
If you could sum up Northern Bites in three words, what would they be?
    Entertaining Vampy Fun!!!!
Who was your favorite character and why?
again Aurora, but I do like Dante and Fane too!
What about Em Eldridges performance did you like?
    She is a perfect Aurora!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked how Aurora wanted to save the teen vampires....even if misinformed, she showed she has a good heart and conscience!
    Any additional comments?
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
I really like Aurora, she is a tad snarky, but smart and brave.

Especially when you've fallen in love with the woman who got you into this mess - and you ain't nobodys hero.

    Great Performance but...
I loved the performance by Amber Benson. She really brought each of the characters to life. Each had their own voice that was unique and clearly recognizable. However, I really struggled to finish the story. As the main character pointed out: "info dump". The story had several of them. I normally enjoy a detailed storyline, but there was a very large and unfamiliar in-depth background mythology to work through as well as character background. I think it would have been easier to swallow in smaller bites over more books.
What a horrible way to continue this series!!!
My god it was like this book was written by a few high school students extremely disappointed. Such a letdown!!!!

    Title: Winter's Wolf

    Publisher: Dreamspinner Press LLC
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 85 votes
Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Paranormal
    Publisher's Summary:
Winter Thane was raised on the two cardinal rules of werewolf existence: don't reveal yourself to humans under penalty of death, and there's no such thing as a gay werewolf. It's no surprise when his father drags him from his wild life in remote Canada back to Connecticut to meet his old pack in hopes it will persuade Winter to abandon his love of sex with human males. Of course Dad's hopes are dashed when they come face-to-face with the gay werewolves in the Harker pack.
Winter takes one look at FBI agent Matt Partridge and decides bird is his favorite food. Partridge is embroiled in an investigation into drug dealing and the death of a fellow agent. He can't let himself get distracted by the young, platinum-haired beast, but then Winter proves invaluable in the search for clues, a move that winds them both up in chains and facing imminent death. Winter quickly learns his father's motives are questionable, the pack alphas are a bunch of pussies, humans aren't quite what they seem, and nothing in the forests of Connecticut is pure except love.
    Members Reviews:
Max Lehnen - not my favorite narrator
Winter and his dad, Damon, move from Canada (back) to Connecticut to join the Harker Pack. Damon thinks Winter needs the influence of a pack (theyve been more or less living as lone/wild wolves for years) to settle him down and to find himself a mate. Of course, Damon means afemalemate, he doesnt believe in gay werewolves HA! He chose the wrong pack, because the Harker pack isFULLof gay werewolves!
Winter catches the smell of someone amazing at the bar the Harkers frequent, its Matt, an FBI agent working with the pack on a series of crimes involving murder and drugs.
Matt is a human who suspects something is off with the Harkers, but he doesnt know what. He suspects they are somehow involved with or know more about these drug related crimes, but hes not sure how or what.
Winter and Matt are immediately attracted to one another but feel they cant be together for several reasons. Winter: its against the rules to mate a human. Matt: hes hiding a secret and a sick father and those dont blend well with commitment.
Matt and Winter are put on the same task force, trying to track down drug runners and their attraction flares nearly out of control.
But there are forces out there trying to stop their progress both romantically and professionally.
As a side note, there is some pretty fun family re-union stuff going on in the background that leads to an amazing new alliance and possibly some long-needed rule changes.
    **
This, by far, was my most favorite of the three Harker Pack series and possibly my most favorite Tara Lain book to date!
The story line behind the romance actually kept me totally involved (which I admit is not always the case) and I loved seeing the earlier couples actively involved in this story.
Matts status (its a mystery Im not spoiling it!) was done so well! I thought it was very clever and fit in great with the overall story.
The sex between these guys is super hot and their love is also really, really sweet.
Overall a great book I highly recommend. But you MUST read all three books to really appreciate it, which only makes sense because they are all awesome!
    Audio
Max Lehnen. Sigh. He has done the narrations for all the Harker Wolf Series by Tara Lain. There is just something about his narrations that drive me crazy.

    Publisher's Summary:
Last spring Claire's seemingly normal - if not totally screwed up - life was tossed on its head. For five years she'd been one of the damned - a human that knows the truth about the otherworldly among us. She'd worked for The Boss - the Demon King himself - as his administrative assistant, handling everything from early retirements, to Maintenance's incessant requests for dental.
    No one gets dental.
Then she walked into Purgatory - totally not her fault - went back in time, and awakened powers she never knew existed. Now Claire has a prophecy hanging over her head, a diamond ring hidden in her sock drawer, and the blood of a long dead royal running through her veins.
And it's only going to get worse.
Her vow to live free or die takes a serious hit when she's forced back under The Boss's protection. Of course, there's no protection from fate, or the bounty hunter sent to deliver her to Purgatory. And as if being "the girl" in the prophecy wasn't enough, Claire soon discovers there are three other contenders for her role: Two of whom want her dead.
Follow more of Claire's adventures in Dark Awakened, the second installment of the Devil's Assistant Series, to find out if she's lucky enough to escape with her life or if she's just the first notch on the next contender's belt.

    Great Series
VERY entertaining. I like every aspect about these books but the romance (plenty of tension, just not that much genuine relationship development), hopefully that will come in the next book.
constantly kept me thinking and trying to figure
Dark Awakened by HD Smith is the urban fantasy sequel to Dark Hope, part of the Devils Assistant series. What an amazing follow up to the first novel! The main character, Claire, was the Devils personal assistant in the first novel and somehow escaped from that responsibility, but she constantly tries to maintain her freedom. But fate has other plans for her. With a prophecy and with newly discovered non-human powers, she finds out that somehow she has a role to fill in the future of the realms. But of course, she has to do this while politically battling for her freedom and against the machinations of those more powerful than her. Once again, to save her life she sets out on an impossible quest, while a myriad of obstacles try to stop her.
I enjoyed the first book a lot, and the sequel was also fantastic. As before, HD Smith masterfully released bits and pieces of information that constantly kept me thinking and trying to figure out what was happening. In this novel, Claires sarcastic, rebellious attitude is combined with experience which allows her to make smarter choices and it is clear that she is working to get onto equal footing with the big three rulers of the realms, the Devil, Mab, and Harry. All of the characters have so much depth and there are a lot of characters and mostly all seem to be important and have a purpose, which makes the whole novel richer.
The sequel introduced more information in the way of the overall storyline and of course introduced more questions that will easily transition into the next novel.

    Publisher's Summary:
Most witches don't work for police departments, but Michelle isn't your average witch. She's clanless, looking for a wizard who isn't offended by her lack of family connections, and in danger of losing her job if she can't find the escaped trolls before they start eating the local residents.
Trolls, angry police, and misbehaving spells are the least of her problems. Statues attacking homeowners might be problematic for your average witch, but to Michelle it's another day at the office. Her real concern is the wizard suddenly interested in dating her and an old elf set on pestering her. When her happy family is rocked by a long kept secret her stable life falls apart faster than she can pick up the pieces.
And she still hasn't found those trolls.
    Members Reviews:
    A fun witchy read!
    Any additional comments?
Michelle is a clanless Witch so works alongside police. Her latest case though could make or break her because if she can't solve it she has been told that she will no longer be needed. She needs to track down some trolls that escapes before they devour any more humans but no matter what she tries, she is coming up blank. Can she find them before it's too late?
I loved Michelle. She is such a spunky fun character. Her job is interesting and varied to say the least! One day she is trying to de-charm a set of lion statues that a human accidentally bought and another she is trying to track down man eating trolls, I mean who wouldn't want a job like that ;)
Plot wise, this is quite fast paced. Michelle seems to be always in the thick of things. I started the audio and had to keep listening just to see what happens next. I enjoyed the world building and the idea of magic being known about. I loved Michelles job and enjoyed reading about the charmed objects. We have trolls, elves, dwarfs, magical items, police work and even dragons, so there is a wide range of creatures to satisfy everyone!
In all this was a good listen. It kept my interest the whole way through and I will definitely be checking out more in this series. I always enjoy a good witchy read.
Jeff Hays did a great job narrating this. You would think that a male narrating a female MC wouldn't work, but it actually did!! His performance was really good and he has a wide range of vocals.
    A Fun Read!
    Any additional comments?
****I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.
Witch For Hire by N. E. Conneely, is a lot of fun! It is set in Georgia, but in an earth where Supernaturals and humans live openly together. Michelle, the main character is a rare solitary witch. In this world, it is looked down upon as most witches live and work in clans. Due to her mother's week hold of magic and a question of Michelle's paternity, Michelle was born clannless. So when the local police department need a witch on retainer, it is not only cheaper for them to hire Michelle, but she is smart, pleasant and gets things done...fast. Fast is what they need when a clan of Trolls escape their preserve and start killing people. Elron is a centuries old elf with a lot of grief just trying to walk through the motions of being alive. He is fascinated by Michelle, which is new for him as he has been alone for so long.

the geeks story pulled from the Dead series so you get all geeks all the time
    Valerie!!
Where does DEAD: The Geeks (Vol. 2) rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
All the audio books i have listened to about zombies and apocalypses the whole DEAD series would be at the very top. If i include every book i've listened to it would still be near the top
What did you like best about this story?
Valerie was one of my favorites about this story. I love how she just is the way she is and likes to be around people but is perfectly happy to do things her way in her own home. She is the Princess of Sage Farms! I liked how this shows how different military trained people compared to civilians react to the changes that have happened.
Have you listened to any of Andrew McFerrins other performances before? How does this one compare?
He does great in all the performances.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was, but it was just a little too long for one sitting. I couldn't wait to get back to it and find out what happened next
    Any additional comments?
It was very crazy with the whole willa(willow?) i can't remember her name exactly. I was expecting something quite different with her. I did think the whole military set up was a bit strange and wonder how the infection will start to spread through them.

Gloria Foley turned off the light in the hallway and made her way slowly upstairs to bed. She paused at the doorway of her daughter's bedroom and shook her head. It had been such an emotional day for all of them. She prayed she would have the strength to get them both through these treacherous teenage years.
Slowly turning the knob on the bedroom door, she quietly opened it to check on her sleeping child. Through the narrow opening, she could see the bed was still made, and no one was sleeping on it. She opened the door wider and saw the shadow on the far wall, and her heart clenched. Screaming, she flung the door open and ran to the figure hanging from the thick electric cord suspended from the ceiling fan. "No," she screamed as she tried to lift the inert body up to relieve the pressure against her neck. "Nooooooo!"
The ghost of a teenager who committed suicide 20 years ago is haunting Mary's family's home. Can she link that death to the serial suicides of the girls who had bullied her when she was alive?
And with Gary Copper still on the loose, Mary and Bradley are faced with the challenge of keeping the newest member of their family safe and sound.

    Hooked!
Can't get enough of the story. Once I finish one I am loiking to purchase the next. Really love the story.
When Dead is only "a little"
What do you say when caught between two souls arguing over how dead the other is?
You may be better off by staying neutral and solving the mystery that brings them together, and into your life.
A good story with tightly knit plotline and professionally portrayed by the voice actress.
A fun read! I really like the main character, well defined with a past and one that hopes her new future will eventually become calm.

"There is a voice in my head, slithering through my mind like a serpent. It whispers dark things. Tells me to feed." (Osiris, Egyptian lord of the underworld.)
Were the Egyptian gods fanciful imaginings of primitive people or something more? Some believe they once walked the Earth as mortals, that they warred and loved just as any of their worshippers.
This is their story--the tale of how Isis gained the power of shaping. How mighty Osiris died and lived again. How they discovered the fabled First Ark, a structure older than man. It is the tale of us all, the story that shaped our race from cave dwellers into the people we are today.
Are these fanciful tales? Or long-lost truth wrapped in myth? Only time knows.
"It's like Clan of the Cave Bear ran right into The Walking Dead." (The author's totally biased friend.)

    Members Reviews:
    I wanted to like it...
Disclaimer: I DNF Night Rising with about 4 hours left in the audio.
I've had the Vampire Babylon series on my radar for a few years now, even before I started blogging. I ran across the series in one of my Shelfari groups back in 2010. I marked it as "same day" series to read. Once I saw that the series was released on audio and narrated by one of my favorite narrators, Khristine Hvam, I knew I had to finally try Night Rising.
The best part of Night Rising was narrator, Hvam. She is the real reason I DNF it sooner. So why did I have issues with it?
    Mommy Issues
From the book summary: Stuntwoman Dawn Madison hasn't been on the best of terms with her father since her movie star mother died.
Dawn's mother died not to long after giving birth. I think Dawn was like a month old. So clearly Dawn never met her mother but because the mother was a Marilyn Monroe type and Dawn was a total opposite, lived in her shadow. Ok I guess that could give a kid a complex but really I thought her mommy issues was a little over board.
    The Voice
Dawn is working with her dad's co-workers to find him after he goes missing. Frank (Dawn's dad) is a PI and his boss, Mr. Limpet (But don't call him that for some reason. Yeah I didn't get why everyone kept telling Dawn not to call him by Limpet. Just another confusing thing.) Limpet is a paranormal version of "Charlie" from Charlie's Angels. Instead of a voice coming from a speakerphone, he's voice comes from a TV and he uses the TV to hear and see with but you don't see him.
    Weird "Sex"
Dawn either has a really high sexual drive or she's a succubus and doesn't know it?! She hooks up with The Voice (Limpet) but they are not even in the same room. He gets her off with his pyschic ability. Ok I've read PNR with the dude can do that but he was always in the room with the chick and it was added into the physical act. Dawn kept thinking about how she need to recharge with sex. I don't know maybe in future books this is explained, like maybe Dawn's a succubus??
Night Rising was not exactly what I was expecting. The premise was interesting, I mean a stunt woman turned vampire slayer that didn't know that supernaturals were real sounds fun right? Khristine Hvam is what drawled me to the audio and the reason I continued to listen as long as I did but sadly even a favorite narrator could not make me care about the Dawn enough to want to finish the audio.
    just ok
narrator was great. story left me disappointed. lead character was not a strong kick butt heroin as described. she was a weak girl who was jealous of her dead mother. not much vampire action.

    Don't start with this book.
I started listening to this book and found myself getting frustrated when I felt background was needed. So, I went to Ms. Alsop's web site and figured out that The Silver Series is how this series was hatched. I have now put this book on hold and will start with the Silver Series. I recommend that if you have not started with the first series, you go back and start with that one. The series should have been listed as Silver Series/Werewolf Academy Book 1.
    Simply put, just fabulous!
forgive my manners while I go start the second!
Ohh right and the fabulous world that was crafted in the story. makes me think Jk Rowling read this for inspiration! Nah really! it's better than hers! Never thought I'd say that! XD
    Great story line

What did you like best about this story?
The way you feel like you are apart of the story. You feel as if you are running along with them.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Christopher Dumbreski?
If he is the one narrating the book that I really want to listen to, but he is NOT my favorit.
    A fabulous book
This book met my expectations perfectly I spent many an hour looking for a book like this and I'm so happy I finally found this one
The most memorable moment would probably be when Alex was in the cabin fighting but terrible man with the knife almost to his chest
The narration was great I enjoyed it completely and hope all the werewolf academy books will be put on audible
