Undercover superhero Joe Clarke and his team are investigating a string of missing children. When the father of a lost boy turns up dead, the team must decide if the death is related to the disappearances - or to the super-villain group The Nine.
...to super power!
Meanwhile, Tori decides to try out this superhero thing. She needs a mentor, so she asks Superhero X to help, the only superhero shes ever met - and the only one shes ever kissed. As they work together, Tori worries that the superhero is getting too familiar. How can she be attracted to one man when shes wildly in love with another?
Will she have to choose between her husband and her destiny? No one warned her that love would be so complicated!

Not very super
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Don't take this the wrong way but there was to much God, you can be religious without putting him/her in every conversion. And you can have faith without praying over every little thing. Seems everyone in the book (all but the bad guy anyway) wanted God to control every part of there life to keep them from taking any responsibility.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The base of the story was good but to took to long to get any meat.
Which character as performed by Catherine Gaffney was your favorite?
Bull, he was the only guy who didn't seem to take him self to seriously.
Was Unexpected Superhero worth the listening time?
Maybe I'm still not sure.
Any additional comments?
There are some messages I'm not sure i like in this book; It's OK to drug your children to keep them in linePeople always putting there spouse over there childrenThe hero's having a blanket if your not with us your against us policy on any one who has powers, unless organized big evil. Then you ignore them till they mess with you first. There are others but there the ones that stuck with me.

Summary: Tori Lewis discovers she has a superpower. Meanwhile, her new husband, Joe Clarke, also has a secret identity.
Additional Comments:
- I love the pop culture references. Theres mention of or reference to Spiderman, The X-Files, Superman, and much more in here.
Neutral:
- The limited first person perspective slipped into stream of conscious a few times. That took some getting used to. In general, the amount of arghs and grrs should be kept to a bare minimum in books, especially audios.
- Toris idea of research is comic books.
- The main character has about the worst luck with muggers ever.
- It was on the long side. I think it would have been a smoother ride if it lost a few hrs in the middle.
What I couldnt connect with :
- This is one of the severest cases of genre hopping Ive seen in a while. Its mostly a lighthearted romantic comedy set in a mildly urban fantasy setting. In addition, there are elements of Christian romance, Harlequin romance, mystery, and scifi. I happen to like most of those, but Ill admit the blend is not always pretty.
