Evolved Publishing presents a young adult fantasy by the award-winning author of the Noah Zarc series and Shadow Swarm. (Young Adult Fantasy)
Joseph Colafranceschi is a 15-year-old, self-described geek, living in the Bronx. The second youngest of 12 sons of the former U.S. ambassador to Italy, Joey discovers that a small Egyptian statuette, given to him by his father, endows him with power to control his dreams.
After his brothers throw him down a manhole, Joey is drawn into a hidden society of warriors who have been battling a reincarnated Egyptian Pharaoh for over 3,000 years. In the dream world, everyone is not what they appear to be, and it's impossible to tell who to trust. As Joey slips deeper into a world of gladiator battles and clandestine missions within other people's dreams, he catches the eye of a beautiful Egyptian princess.
The only thing that keeps him grounded in reality is his best friend Alex, but even she may not be who he thought she was.

Creative Fun for Teens and Adults!
Where does Dream Warriors rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I've only listened to about a dozen audiobooks so far, but this is easily one of my favorites.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The titular character, Joey Cola, sounds like a recipe for unrelatability. He's exceptionally intelligent, the son of a wealthy diplomat and part of a huge family with its own quirky cast of characters. But beyond that, he's very much your average kid, vulnerable and frustrated with his own limitations. While what he is makes for an interesting story, it's who he is that keeps us hooked.
I also liked that the story has a number of strong female characters: Joey's mother, his friend Alex, and the mysterious Cleopatra. Although the main character is male, I feel like this book would appeal to teenage boys and girls alike.
What about David Radtkes performance did you like?
David is a versitile narrator, and his youthful voice is perfect for young protagonists, and young adult literature in general. He is able to portray a full cast of various ages, genders, and ethnicities with clarity and without confusion . He is very mindful of the author's descriptions, and his voices enhance those descriptions, as well as the listener's experience. I've listened to several other works he's narrated, and this is some of his best work.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Saving the world? They can do that in their sleep.
    Any additional comments?
If you have teenagers and a long car ride, get this book! After all, who hasn't been fascinated by the power of dreams? Who hasn't wanted to control what happens in a dream, or better yet, make their dreams a reality?

    Short, but somewhat interesting, book
Is there anything you would change about this book?
    Add more stories.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The reality of actual individual's experiences, not fiction.
The briefness of the anecdotal stories.
What about Jaicie Kirkpatricks performance did you like?
He did well enough that I didn't pay attention to "him", but listened to the stories, themselves.
Was The Funny Pages from Immigrants' Diaries worth the listening time?
Yes, although way to brief. A collection like this, could be expanded.

    Publisher: Audible Studios
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
The daughter of faith-healing Christians and the son of a TV evangelist are the stars of this lively cautionary tale about religion, family, faith, and love.
I start my story with the day I first saw Jesse Pegler. That was when my whole life first started changing. Sixteen-year-old Opal Ringer is the daughter of Royal Ringer, the Pentecostal leader of a motley flock of down-on-their-luck believers. Jesse Pegler is the son of Brother Pegler. An "evangelist for Jesus", the elder Pegler is a flashy minister who appears regularly on television in his blue robes and gold tassels. Opal and Jesse meet at a faith healing at the Helping Hand Tabernacle church, where Opal's daddy preaches. Jesse, with his soft eyes and sandy hair, is a younger version of his older brother, Bud, who ran away from the religious life - and whom Opal can't forget. Alternating between Opal and Jesse's perspectives, What I Really Think of You, follows two preachers' kids as they make fascinating discoveries about their faith, their families, and themselves.

Boy Meets Girl /Televangelism Meets Backwoods Pentacostalism
Quiet and deep-thinking Opal Ringer is the daughter of Brother Royal Ringer, who leads a flock of hard-on-their-luck Pentecostalists at The Helping Hand Tabernacle. Brother Ringer isn't exactly a snake-handler, but he does at one point employ the services of a leg-lengthening healer to increase attendance at his revival series. Jesse Pegler is the second (and less-favored) son of millionaire televangelist Guy Pegler. Though Guy Pegler's background is strikingly similar to that of Brother Ringer, he promotes a more prosperous theology:"Jesus wants you to win, and so do I!" Jesse Pegler's older brother, Bud,has run away and left an ill-suited Jesse as heir apparent to the throne. Opal and Jesse eventually meet and attempt to establish a relationship. Before they can successfully connect with anyone else, however, each must come to terms with his/her own identity crisis and feelings of religious confusion. Other intriguing characters appear. Dianne Young-Cheek, the misfit daughter of one of Seaville's wealthiest couples, becomes romantically linked with Bobby-John, Opal's tormented older brother. Donald Divine, Guy Pegler's somewhat slimy promoter, is preposterous. Seal von Henning, a former girlfriend of runaway brother Bud, provides a link between many of the story's characters. Healer K. Christian Keck, though only a bit-part character, is so realistic that he wouldn't be in any way out of place on one of the charismatic healing programs playing on cable today. The characters I found most likable, in addition to the main characters of Opal and Jesse, were their mothers, Arnelle Ringer and Rhoda Pegler. Though Arnelle, as the wife of a Pentecostal preacher, is mostly compelled to spout the party line, she understands the angst of Opal's deprivation, compelled by both economic and religious constraints. Although Rhoda Pegler has to some degree given in to the worldly pleasures available to the very wealthy, neither has she entirely forgotten her more humble roots. On more than one occasion she finds it necessary to remind her husband of his as well. Those who are interested in non-mainline Protestantism, or at least are not totally put off by it, will thoroughly enjoy this book.

    Release date: 10-07-14
    Publisher: Crossroad Press
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
Do you believe you can shape your future, determine your destiny? One spring day in 1954, three sixth grade boys make a bet: the one who can climb first to the top of a small green merry-go-round outside their school will be "Champ for life!" For the rest of his days he'll be on Easy Street!" So they engage in a "mad scramble - clambering over each other with murderous intent," and eventually one of them reaches the summit and stands triumphant, lording it over the others. He is the merry-go-round man.
The Merry-Go-Round Man is a novel about three boys growing up in the so-called innocent days of the Eisenhower 50s. It's about rites of passage, loss of innocence, sexual initiation, racism, and much more. Of the three boys, Johnny Roth is central. He possesses two transcendent gifts which are only beginning to emerge as the novel begins. One of them is the ability to box or fight, something he deeply fears. The other ability is artistic and mystical. He is a natural expressionistic painter of vast potential. Unfortunately, Johnny's father, an orthodox Jew, hates both of these pursuits, and his opposition tears Johnny apart.
Of the two other boys, Lee Esner grows up to be a gifted football player with what looks like a lucrative pro career ahead of him. He also has a flair for attracting beautiful girls. Is he the merry-go-round man? The third boy, Jimmy Wiggins, is black and from the ghetto. Attending an elite white school with Johnny and Lee, his naive love for a pretty white girl is destroyed by her cruel racism. Another rite of passage. Symbols such as a burning Buddhist monk make us ask whether anyone is really The Merry-Go-Man in life.

    Touching coming-of-age story, for everyone.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Merry-Go-Round Man to be better than the print version?
I can't answer this honestly becasue I have only listened to the audio version and not read the print version. Though I can say that the audio book was very well narrated by Aze Fellner and well produced.
What did you like best about this story?
The story touched on many though subjects and the author handled them quite thoughtfully in my opinion. It threw together 3 very different guys and produced very interesting results. Situations we have all been exposed to growing up like racism, bullying, general insecurity and regret. I thought the characters are well written and seemed to be quite 'believable'.
Which character as performed by Aze Fellner was your favorite?
For me, Jimmy Wiggins. Innocent, sad and yet funny too all at the same time.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Everyone takes a turn on the Merry-Go-Round
    Any additional comments?
I really liked this book it surprised me. Well written and a very believable tale of guys growing up in a time period long past.

    Back by Dawn
Although I am 42 years old I found the book "Back by Dawn" to be an excellent read. It captured my attention right from the get go and held it throughout. The twists and turns are unexpected and extremely well thought out. I will be passing this book on to my children when they are old enough as I know they will enjoy it. I will be looking for more works from this author in the future, great writer!
    Great read
Very good book. I will admit that I am slightly older than the targeted audience, but once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. When I finished, I passed it on to my kids. Excellent book for young teens.
    Five Stars
Good quick read, hope the author comes out with a second book after it.
    Awesome Read!!
This author amazes the reader with very sharp writing. The writing is engrossing, with a strong plot and engaging characters. I got the book on Thursday and couldn't put it down. There were so many twists and turns in the plot which kept me guessing until the end. Looking forward to more great reads like this!!!
