Story ended abruptly &Too much detailed sex

First time reading this author and I enjoyed the story and characters very much. Enjoyed them so much, that I was rather puzzled when the story ended so abruptly. If the book that was sampled at the end of this one was the sequel to this one, there was too much of a gap in timeline. As far as all of the detailed sex, I think it was overdone, and had I known it was part of the story, would not have purchased the book. Sometimes just the suggestion of what happened is better than details.

Will probably not purchase another book by Susan Fox in the near future.

I liked that it was about the life of a married ...

Caribou Crossing was an okay read for me.

I liked that it was about the life of a married couple. Most romance books only show the happily ever after . They never show life after marriage. I thought it was clever of the author to show what the family went through.

What I really didn't like, was the back and forth through the present and the past. Sometimes it was confusing, and in others it was pointless. At some pints in the book it was hard to get through. It is never good when you put a book down, and you don't really want to finish. I thought the book was dragged out. It seemed like the author was trying to add content to fill the pages. That is just how I saw it.

I also liked their daughter and her friend. I knew they were going to have a book of their own. I am excited to read it! The daughter Jessica, was obsessed with horses. I really liked her friend. They were perfect for each other even at a young age.

This book was so realistic, and for that, I gave it 4 stars.

Good but could have been great

I have to agree with another reviewer it was very detailed, almost too much so, then it just ended. It switched points of view from the husband to the wife, but it also went back and forth between the present and the past. All this said, I still enjoyed the book. I wish the ending had been more thorough or at least the next book in the series picked up where this one left off, but there is a huge gap in time.

Wade and Miriam are the main characters along with their 8 year old daughter Jess and her friend Evan. Wade and Miriam have some very difficult things to overcome like a miscarriage, unexpected hysterectomy, financial problems with the ranch, along with keeping secrets from one another.

Pretty good addition to the series.

**Minor Spoiler**

I've read (and listened) to all three books in the "Playing with Fire" series and they've all been pretty enjoyable. I'll admit that I'm hoping that the fourth one will be different though. The series SHOULD be called "How to be Betrayed and End Up in a Basement". Still, the build up to said basement scenario was interesting, the characters were likable and the story moved along well.

Abby and Sean did a good job with the narration, each character was clearly differentiated and delivery of the dialogue was well done. One thing I love about Abby is that when it says that the character WHISPERS something, she actually does it! Some narrators don't do that and it completely pulls me out of the story when they're speaking in the same tone whether they're yelling or muttering.

Worth a credit? Eh, I'd probably wait for a sale or something if you haven't already read the first two. If you have and enjoyed both of them, yeah, I'd say worth it.

I love listening to Sean Crisden! He was the reason I got the audio. As i listened, I thought the book was a good, very well written. Some things were off a bit, like the knowledge of guns and how the actions scenes played out. It was a bit annoying but didn't bother me too much.

Great story!

I enjoyed the progression of Millie and Cree's characters in this story. I got to listen to this during a cross country trip and it was engaging. Another great HJ Bellus story!

I deCREE this as Awkward.

This story had a good premise, a solid plot, but is not well written. And unfortunately, the narration was worse - her voice is too young and the inflection is all wrong at times. It all just came off as awkward and I think it could've been solved by a serious beta reader and editor.

Decent writing, poor narration

I almost gave up on this book a few chapters in because the narrator is terrible. Her voice isn't bad but her inflections are at all the wrong times and places to the point of distraction. However, I decided to power through and I'm glad I did as the story IS a good one. As I got more into the story I was distracted less & less by the narration.

Good story

Where does Cree rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

While I love the story I had to get used to the narrators voice and style as when I first started listening to it I wasn't sure I would be able to finish. I'm glad I stuck with it though as after a bit her voice fit the Milly to a T

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cree?

When they go to Annie's Kindergarden recital and Milly rescues Annie cause she doesn't have a mother

I read both the kindle version and then listened to the audio book. I really enjoyed both versions. Both brought something to the story that made it worth my time.

This was worth a credit. I actually found this book due to my KU membership so finding it on audio was a bonus

Wasted time

This story was so horribly written. The narration was equally bad. The storyline and character development was very juvenile. It reminds me of what my junior high students think adult relationships are. The female protagonist was extremely unlikable. She was ignorant, naive, and crass. The author should study up on subtlety. The sex scenes were overkill and didn't add anything provocative to the story. I hated the chapter, "Bloody Toes". It was completely unnecessary. The audience gets that she was abused and neglected from the beginning.

Romantic tension keeps you at the edge

There is nothing better than a novel that keeps the romantic tension throughout. In this love triangle, you can not help but have empathy for everyone involved. At points, you'll be screaming, "no," then later "text him/her," "don't." I liked very much the main character, she was funny as well as kept you involved as she changes and considered.

This was my first novel by Desrochers, and as an incurable romantic -- I give it a thumbs up.

One of my all time favorite stories

I have to say I love this series so much I read them first and now am listening to them. Great story line and excellent narrator. Great author so can't wait to listen to more.

A BEAUTIFUL BUT BITTER-SWEET LOVE TRIANGLE

Right from Chapter 1 this well-written, easy flowing, emotional, romantic and tender love story had me hooked on all the drama, mental turmoil and decisions that Lexie went through in her journey of self-discovery to finally find her heart's desire. Told entirely from her own POV which was humorous and had some vivid descriptions of her life and her awakening passions for art, teaching, Rome..... and love.

As the Summary states, Lexie found her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend (which was bad) but then she cried on the shoulder of her step-brother Trent who she shares a very special bond with. Then things get out of hand and they have intense and mind blowing sex (which was very very bad... but very very good?) and, from then on, she can't get Trent out of her mind not even when she goes to Rome two days later to study.

This audiobook is a very creative story.The book suggests that there very well might be alot we dont know about. The Eternal island is hidden from the outside world and those who would do the residents harm but it is different from the outside world in that witches and vampires live together. Very good story.

It ranks with the best of them. I really enjoyed the story and the way it was performed.

Rainey. I think her visions are cool and she's pretty spunky. Gotta love a girl who speaks her mind.

What does Melora Kordos bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I think Melora really brings the characters to life. I love getting to focus on picturing the story in my head while she brings out their personalities with her performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes! When I was listening to a funny scene on my headphones I burst out laughing and my daughter gave me a funny look and eyeroll, like I was crazy lol.

Take me to Eternal Island

Would you consider the audio edition of Eternal Island to be better than the print version?

To have an audio version of a book you already love can be scary to listen to because you don't want it to not be great. This one is great and it just enhanced my experience with this book. It's like getting a movie made of your favorite book, only the actors are the very ones you thought they would be, and no one has cut the book up so much you don't recognize it. It's the entire book being told to you and you get to experience all the feelings you read it the first time. I just closed my eyes and got swept away.

What did you like best about this story?

This story is beautiful because it is crazy exciting, loving, heartbreaking, and full of emotion. Never are you certain what will happen or how it will happen. The characters are strong and just make each other better.

Where's the Plot?

There is not much to say about Stardust: Peaches Monroe, Volume 1, by Mimi Strong. While there were a few funny moments, the vast majority of it was somewhat sad and pitiful. This book is filled with a series of situations, rather than engaging the reader by having a plot. The ending was unexpected and abrupt.

Sorry...This gets a "no" from me.

Maybe for under 25 readers

Peaches could have been a great character if she was older, wiser and more confident. She was trying to accept herself as a full figured woman, but her insecurities kept creeping out.

This book had some amusing and interesting moments - Mimi Strong must have a great sense of humor. However, I wanted more details about the small town where most everyone is related and less about how Peached hates her thighs.

Warning: this book ends abruptly - another cliffhanger! Luckily, by that time I didn't care.

Three's a Crowd!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Stardust?

Peaches is manager of a bookstore in her small hometown in Washington. When an indie production comes to town, a chance meeting with Dalton, the hot, male star of the movie, shakes up her quiet life.

First of all, Peaches is described (multiple times!) by herself and others as "curvy", "plump" and "fat", and frequent mention is made of her "dimpled thighs", cellulite, etc. WHY does every heroine in these books have to be either overweight or model thin?? Am I the ONLY person left in the world that falls into the gray area between those two extremes?

For once, I'd like to read a book where nobody mentions the heroine's weight. If the hero wants to say she is beautiful, that's fine, because the person who loves you SHOULD see you as beautiful no matter what you look like. But I am sick and tired of women's attractiveness to be tied to their weight.

Another wonerful story

All Grown Up by Janice Maynard is the lone female Wolff family member story. Its an emotional and sensual story the will keep you enthralled.

Annalise Wolff has never forgiven Sam Ely for turning down her young love when she was 21. She swore to never forgive Sam and has avoided him as much as she was able. But now Sam's grandparents want the family home redecorate and this job would really put Annalise skills to the test. It will also test her resolve to ignore the powerful attraction she still feels for Sam.

Sam Ely had tried for years to get Annalise to forgive him and this job was a way for them to try to get a long. Sam has fought for years his attraction to the only female member of the Wolff family. He didn't want it to have any repercussions with the other men of the family who he considers friends. Sam had only planned to get Annalise settled into his grandparents estate and go back to work. But it seems mother nature had other plans, they are trapped in the house with a powerful snowstorm all around them.

All Grown Up is a stellar addition to The Men Of Wolff Mountain. It was moving to see how growing up in an all male household effected Annalise view of herself and those around her. The chemistry between Sam and Annalise was powerful. Their connection set sparks off the pages. This is a wonderful series a romance reader should not miss.

Great!

What a great story of people that knows they are loved and knows they would stand together. It took over ten years for a couple to see this even after spending the sex full weekend together. The hurt from a family member and for the most part unspoken words to put thing right.

Love it!

I have read thius book over and over again, I just love Sam and Annalise and how the story comes together. I love that she's not a "damsel in distress" and has got her own money..

Very REAL..definitely my favourite book in the Wolff series. Love it!

All grown up

Janice Maynard has a way with words that will keep you interested until the very end of her books. I loved reading about the Men of Wolff Mountain, every one of them. I'm now almost finished with the last one and it's as good as the first! I'll be reading more of Maynard's books!

Awesome

This is one of the best Janice Maynard books. I enjoyed reading her stories when the heroine has an achievement and character. This books made me glued and couldn't stop until it ends.

Looking Forward to Hearing Book 2!

Would you listen to Strength again? Why?

Yes I would! It was very exciting and moved at a great pace; not too fast, not too slow. This was a great purchase, and I really look forward to book two!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the plot! It was very exciting! The characters were very "real" as well as the way they handled every day situations as well as paranormal ones! The climax of the story was the best because of the twists and the awkwardness between Rena and Wallace was very believable...I mean don't we all have a bit of that in the beginning of a relationship?

Have you listened to any of Nellie Barnetts other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any of Nellie Barnett's performances before but I would listen to another one. I haven't anything to compare to but I have some constructive criticism.

There were a couple points int he story where I felt her inflection could have portrayed what the author was trying to convey, (at least I think so). Sometimes it would say a character was confused but the words they said were not said in a confused inflection...if that makes any sense. It wasn't all the time and in no way do I think this hurts the book.

As Nellie is a woman, her male voices could be a little deeper, but who can hold that against her, LOL?

I really loved her voices for Gabby and Rena...I felt they were different sounding, so you were confused as to who was talking, and I thought she did a great job portraying both characters!

Again, none of this takes away from the book, and I personally think the author should use Nellie Barnett again for Courage, book #2.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were two points in the audio book that my heart was racing because of the story line! I don't want to give anything away without ruining the book for future listeners, but I would say there was a point at about a quarter of the book that had me on my toes and definitely the ending was something of a seat gripper!

I read the other reviews on Strength, Mark of Nexus, and this book IS paranormal. It's just a unique take on the subject and not so "IN-YOUR-FACE" as some are. It's paranormal meets real life, which I really thought was pretty cool.

Anyone interested in some hunky features in a couple of hunky guys, some excitement, some shocks, and a budding romance you can identify with should give Strength, Mark of Nexus by Carrie Butler a try!

I thought book #4 in this series was going to be the best in the group. I was wrong. This book...wow...this book blew me away. And I completely ignored every single thing I needed to do in my life to read/listen to it because I absolutely could not pull myself away from this story. Wow...it was just so good!!

This book is written completely different from the others as there are events happening in present day and events happening in the past all in conjunction in the story. Every chapter takes place in a different timeframe with something incredibly shocking and shattering happening in that first chapter. Then you spend the next half of the book trying to figure out exactly how Quin and Ella got to where they were at in that first chapter. It's an incredible way to write a book and it literally kept me riveted to the story. I could not walk away. I NEEDED to know what happened and how in the world anything was going to be okay again. As a reader and a writer, it was an incredible lesson in how to create and weave an unforgettable, completely suspenseful story. I cannot stress to you how good this book was.

And I don't know what to say without giving anything away. OMG...because each and every little revelation steals your breath away as you read it. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that experience for any other reader. These characters, this story...just wow! When I hit a book this good, I have a hard time sticking to just the audiobook, because I can read it so much faster. My hubby kept laughing at me on this one. Johanna Parker's narration was so good and her ability to express the emotion of the story was amazing. I couldn't walk away from the audiobook. So I got where I would listen to the beginning of the chapter with audio, reading along on my kindle. Then I would stop and read the last half of the chapter with just my kindle. That way I was able to move it along faster without completely abandoning the incredible narration.

So, so, so good. This entire series has been incredible, but this book was perfection. I have loved getting to know the Kinncaids and am truly sad to let them go. It's been a great series. Thank you to my friend, Amy, for pushing me to read this.
