It's the word 'switch' that's the double entendre.

Not a bad story beneath it all... just not executed. What a waste.... it is all wrong when women expect to stand in a corner and get their backsides blistered as punishment perceived by their husbands. Perhaps it's me but I find it entirely unacceptable! I got over the idea of a little spanking during love play used in a lot of books. (ok for some i suppose) But this is corporal punishment! It seems to be the point of the story rather than what is actually a good plot line. It wasn't even presented in any format that had meaning, it was supposed to be a general way of life. Could that be right in the way of the new west as our country grew...and I never heard of it before? Doubtful. The authors notes included that in her books "there are no explicit sex scenes but plenty of spanking" Maybe she doesn't realize that what that sounds like and what she presented are two vastly different things.

NARRATOR : Excellent! I would gladly listen to her again. She had a total lack of accents (chicago, western drawl, etc...) so I wouldn't expect her to excel where that was supposed to matter. But I never heard HER, but rather the story, as it should be. No pronunciation errors, stumbles, mouthy (wet, toothy, toungue, lips or swallow) sounds, etc... she was very good!

CREDITWORTHY? : No. Either buy it on sale or skip it is my recommendation.

I wanted a romantic comedy....

I wanted a romantic comedy, and got it! From the cast of characters (the supporting ones stole the show), to the narrator, this book got me laughing out loud. I've heard Nicole Poole narrate other romance books, but with this book, she became my favorite female narrator. Loved this book from beginning to end. and SPOILER ALERT! The hero is HOT HOT HOT! ;-)

Do not miss this book!

It is superb reading. I laughed until I had tears in my eyes and then I was on the edge of my seat. It is a must read.

This was an unusual take on romance. A great cast of characters and a funny, sad and sympathetic heroine.

Listening to this book was way better than reading it as the narrator is brilliant.

So Very Beautiful

Why? Because it shows that Love, Trust, and Faith can overcome all evils and win! I love the endearing love of the Colton's and each new member of their family by marriage and by birth. All families should have this unconditional Love for one another even if they fight and argue, in the end they fight for and with each other to overcome whatever obstacles come their way! Language, by now you know I don't change how I feel about that, you don't need bad words to make a fantastic story!

Oh, what a great book!

I truly loved this story. There are bits of true history woven into the intrigue of early America along with family life. The Colton family expanded with children and a marriage. This book is more "political" as it took in the time of President Cleveland and his dealings with the Apache Indians. I enjoyed the strength of the women in this book and look forward to reading more of Ms. Hudson's writings. You will truly love this storyline so get ready to buy book 5.

Apache Legacy

I found the book to be mediocre, mostly predictable. It has some "feel good" moments; rescues of the heroine(Jessica Colton) and one of her family members. There is the issue of prejudice to be dealt with by our hero, Blake Renard. And of course his persistent attraction to Jessica Colton and hers to him. I grew a little weary of her wishy-washy attitude toward Blake-I want him, I don't want him, I love him or do I? There is the inevitable episode(s) of sex; when Blake finally has her, he gives her up to complete his mission of revenge on an old enemy, then he decides that he wants her back until he decides he isn't good enough for her. I can't say that I hated the book, but I do not count it among the most interesting books that I have read.

Great Read

This whole series is Wonderful and every book is hard to put down, once you start reading it!

Love a book that leaves me all much inside!

Let me start by giving Julia Motyka 4 on the narration....the only reason I don't give her the the full 5 points is because at times I could hear her taking big breaths as she narrated... But otherwise... She was great!

As for the book.... It was the perfect blend of action, humor & romance.

The hero was just the best of both alpha & sweet. What got on my nerve with him was his belief that he was not 'good enough' but he knew how to take what he wanted and cherish it... The heroine was scared of the future.... & I wouldn't blame her, her grandparents were just so well horrible & her life literally blew up in her face...... But slowly as she tries to get her life back, she learns to appreciate herself & how to love completely! It was just the perfect relationship that had my heart melting by the end!

Definitely a fun listen for any romantic hearts out there!

Action and hot romantic suspense

Would you listen to Guardian for Hire again? Why?

Yes, I would listen again to this title because Julia Motyka did a fabulous job of narration. Her characters were distinctive and she did great with Gavin's accent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Guardian for Hire?

The confrontation scene with the mob, Gavin, Maddie and Sarabeth stays in mind as memorable because each one of the characters were clear and well played as they faced off in a finale' of good versus evil.

Which character as performed by Julia Motyka was your favorite?

Maddie was a favorite character for me even though she is only a secondary character. When she was "on the page" I found myself listening to her. She was strong, independent and smart.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I had the time to listen to any audiobook in one sitting, this would be an easy one for me to listen to because it was fast paced and smoothly plotted.

Unreal, but enjoyable

When the mafia is involved, there's just no way it can be this simple. Surprise, another unrealistic romance. And yet, for a light summer read, that promises hotness it's still enjoyable.

This was so much better. I will definitely look for more from this author.

Loved how author gave us a view into both their minds. story has a lot of fun banter as well as fast-paced action and vivid descriptions.

Great read!!!

Really liked the story line and the fact the woman was not portrayed as helpless, completely irrational, or dumb!! A refresh from the last books I have selected!!! Loved the ending!!!

Steamy!

I am such a sucker for books about marriage!

The format of fake marriage are all the same. Fake marry, love-hate relationship, then they spend time together, slowly falling in love, none of them would admit it, then BAM! They both fell in love when things suddenly go wrong. Every single book I read on fake marriage has the same format yet I never get tired of them.

The sexual tension between Jared and Sheridan just skyrocketed. The sexual tension between them was just there from the beginning. If there was one thing I don't like though was how cheesy and corny and cliche(like all romance books so I guess it didn't bother me much) it was in the beginning.

Just focus on the romance, guys. Because that's what romance books are all about. And the romance between Sheridan and Jared didn't fail me. Their conversations always brought a smile to my face. I love how they build up their relationship, that it's not all just lust.

I was having trouble with Deanna Hurst's narrating a little bit in the beginning. She didn't quite get Jared's tone right and it felt awkward at some parts. But as the story gets better, so did she.

A short and light romance read. A recommended one too!

Light, Sexy Read

Jared is a star QB with a bad reputation.

Sheridan is a local artist struggling to pay the bills.

Once the marriage/business agreement is mentioned, you pretty much know exactly what's going to happen. Despite its predictability, Karen Erickson kept me turning the pages. I was totally sucked in and couldn't stop!

Jared is smoking hot and I totally identify with Sheridan's reactions to him.

Recommend for a light, sexy read!

A Steamy Read with a Cute Storyline

What did you love best about Game for Marriage?

The thing that I loved best about Game for Marriage is the storyline. I found the whole thing cute. I liked that the Heroine was poor. I liked that she had to marry the Hero and for money at first, but of course things change and its just adorable.

What did you like best about this story?

The thing I liked best about the story is that it was really light, sweet and short. I love to listen to these types of books because it always brings a smile to my face and keeps me in a good mood.

What made the experience of listening to Little Miss Lovesick the most enjoyable?

Being able to hear someone tell this cute story, using the different voices and accents made this story just as enjoyable as reading it myself the first time around. It was nice to be able to do this while driving back and forth to work.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Little Miss Lovesick?

When Matt & Sydney go grocery shopping for their cookout and end up going home with a puppy.

Which scene was your favorite?

The Marina when Sydney uses her plan to get back Matt using fishing as her guide!

Matt's speech to Sydney at the Marina, that just made me melt.

I got hooked

Quick Summary

Sonya Savonski isn't afraid of taking risks and she's taking some big ones during this year's fishing season in South Naknek, Alaska. Not only is she going to continue with the family's tradition of set netting, she's also going to captain a drift boat and fish out in the open sea. This is her first year heading the family's commercial fishing business, taking the reins from her grandfather. Her decision to use both fishing options is controversial enough but she's also the only woman leading a drift boat crew.

The issues

Alaska State Trooper Garrett Hunt decides to join the Alaska Wildlife Troopers during the season as a chance to get out of town after he lost his opportunity to pursue a relationship with "friend with benefits" Mel Bennett (see my review of Edge). He meets Sonya as soon as he lands and it's an immediate attraction...that's before she learns he's a "fish cop." By then, it's too late as they're both hooked. Things get dicey when Sonya becomes a target and is the victim of numerous incidents of sabotage, some life threatening.

What I enjoyed

As with the previous story, I learned quite a bit about the rudiments and perils of commercial fishing in the Bering Sea as well as the realities of life in this Alaska region. It's fascinating and when you overlay this backdrop with an eclectic cast of characters and exciting action, I was hooked. I had a clue as to who was behind the sabotage but there was a surprise twist that I didn't foresee. And, Sonya has an ex-boyfriend on the scene who wanted to remove the "X." I had a love-hate thing going with Adrian throughout the story. But Sonya and Garrett's romance was always the main focus and theirs was a fiery relationship.

The narration

I enjoyed Mia's narration much more this time as she better handled the suspenseful aspects of the story. She also did a great job distinguishing the characters, adding a unique flair to some of them. Her pacing was perfect.

The bottom line

I really liked the story, setting, action and romance. The balance between the suspense and romance seemed perfect and I never felt either was diminished by the other. The Alaska element continues to be a huge draw for me as this is new territory (pardon the pun) and the fact that I now know the difference between set netting and drift fishing feels good, too. It was exciting and I liked Sonya and Garrett's romance. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

the books are stand alone but nicely tie in with the next book in the series. They are believable and real and fun to listen to.

The trooper, Garrett Hunt from book 1 'EDGE' in this series. Gets his own romance in this book and she is a real b#ll buster. He has his work cut out for him.
