Sweet Romance

This was the perfect book for a weekend 'audible rendezvous'. Short, sweet, and just a bit sassy. I wanted to listen to something somewhat lightweight and romantic, and this totally hit the spot. #1 Xe Sands' smoky-smooth-sultry voice is a little intoxicating so that was really enough to put me into a trance which is just what I need after a long week. The storyline is a little predictable, but, it was interesting and funny enough to keep me listening and willing to buy the next one in the series. Looking forward to the next!

Sweet Romance

What did you love best about Close to You?

I loved the secondary romance in the book. An older woman, who is a widow and really lost in life, lost in fear of being alone and unable to support herself, finds a wonderful man of her age who pursues her dispite her objections. It is very sweet.

What did you like best about this story?

I have read all the Laurel Heights stories. When I saw it was in Audible, I was so excited to hear the narrators take on the characters. I love to listen while I work and this book didn't disappoint me.

No I have not

There wasn't a reason to cry. It is a fun chic lit that makes you feel good and giggle here and there.

I liked the different views from the characters dealing with their situations & how the relationship progressed.

I liked when Treat was trying to comfort Eve & Grant was talking to Margaret.

This was a pretty good story. I liked both Treat and Eve and their story was enjoyable.

Eve used to work in marketing for her father but managed to leave that behind to start up her dream coffee/book shop. She has a welcoming place, greets her customers with a smile and bakes wonderful pastries for her customers but she's struggling a bit with making ends meet until the shop starts making a profit. When Eve finds out about an chef (who Eve loves) with a new cookbook coming out that's looking for the right place for a launch party, Eve's convinced that if she can get the launch party to take place at her shop, it'll take her in to solvency.

Treat owns his own construction company and is a good guy. His father died 8 years ago and his mother (Margaret) owns a tea shop locally but Treat worries about her as she hasn't been the same since his dad died.

Great mystery!

This was my second time through this book. I read the series several years ago and loved it. Marta Perry is one of my favorite authors. I have never been disappointed with one of her books.

Eliza Foss does a great job with the performance of the book. She was the reason I decided to "read" the book again.

A sweet and humorous romance novel

This book was a surprisingly fun read. Very unique and entertaining. It was not your typical love story which has a lot of sexual content.

The author really captured the life of a town, where all your neighbors know your business. Lots of humor and romance. The attraction between Mitch and Emma, was so intense, you could feel it. This is what really made the story for me. I can't wait for the 2nd book, will definitely look out for it. Well Done Lily Santana!!!!

Loved the story and already wishing for the next book!

I typically will choose science fiction over romance, historical romance over modern, but in this case I'm glad that I did not pass over this gem. I have read a lot of romance novels and what endeared me to this book especially was the story line. It was unique and entertaining. I actually skipped over the "juicy" parts just so that I can keep reading the story. Much like Janet Evanovich novels, this is a fast and enjoyable read. I will keep my eyes wide open for the next book.

Fun, captivating, modern romance

well written and easy to read. Plot and characters hold your attention and you are drawn to them. Descriptions of the town are spot-on; makes you want to live in, or at least visit the community. Great job by a new author. A modern take on romance novel theme.

Good Reading

I'm a sucker for a small town romance and author Lily Santana has done a bang-up job with all the things that make these types of stories so rich.

Emma is a young widow in her thirties with a daughter about to enter college. She's struggling to let go of her husband (still has his things, for instance, and really hasn't jumped back into the dating pool). Everyone is trying to "help" from her daughter to the rest of the town, while also reminding her what a great guy her late husband was. Too bad they don't know how badly in debt he left his wife and daughter!

Emma was a character I was really ambivalent about.

Very Entertaining

Karen White is a great narrator with an excellent range of voices in her repertoire. This book has a strong comedic tone and it was the first time I had heard her deliver such humor. She did a fine job of it.

The story is slightly ridiculous. It's set at a modern day renaissance fair and centers around the jousting competition with millions of dollars at stake. There's a bit of a mystery tied into the tournament and, of course, there's plenty of romance.

It's definitely worth a credit and makes me eager to listen to Katie MacAlister's other stand-alone novels, which are being released in audio in September.

I just remembered this being a fun book to read, so I thought the audio would be just as fun. It wasn't. Some parts I didn't remember which isn't such a big deal, but it was boring. I read the book in one sitting and I had a hard time staying awake for this one.

Funny romance and joust

I enjoyed the laugh-out-loud humor of this crazy over-the-top story. The romance is great fun and the situation pretty unique.

Snarky and fun

What made the experience of listening to Hard Day's Knight the most enjoyable?

I like an Alpha male paired with a strong, smart, and sarcastic female. Can't help but laugh at some of the one liners.

I love Katie Mcalister and this book did not disappoint. All of her books have a strong female lead paired with a strong Alpha male. I didn't guess the villain in this one until late in the story but it was a good read.

A confection the enjoy...

Katie MacAlister delivers a sweet truffle of romance in a pleasant story with engaging characters in an unexpected setting. Although not the strongest of Ms. MacAlister's books, it is sure to entertain and periodically cause you to chuckle out loud.

Hot! Hot! Freakin HOT!

I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with Reid and Lucy in her first book, Seducing Cinderella. So of course, I instantly fell in love with Jax. The banter that goes on between Jax and Vanessa was quite amusing. Major props to you Gina Maxwell on another job well done! I cant wait to read more of your work! This story is about Vanessa MacGregor (Lucies best friend) who is the firecracker, independent, always in control, and very vocal about everything. She has never had a serious relationship, trying to keep all men at arms length. Vanessa has always had a wall around her heart and by creating her seven rules to live by she avoids any signs of heartbreak.Jax Maris is Lucys very protective, loving, older brother who practically raised her after a tragic incident involving their parents. Jax and Vanessas first meeting at airport was not a very positive one. Vanessa challenges Jax like no one has before and her fiery attitude intrigues him to want to spend more time with her. A deal between the two of them starts a hot and steamy relationship. Jax & Vanessa at times had me snorting with laughter and the sex scenes were deliciously steamy. I really liked learning more about Vanessa's back story.I was easily hooked from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this series.

Before this book I read Real, and I think the chemistry between characters is similar. But Rules of Entanglement is way hotter!

Her narration is great. She achieves to make all the correct annotations with the voices and descriptions.

The story starts off with an uptight lawyer, Vanessa, with MAJOR control issues who arrives in Hawaii for her best friend, Lucy's wedding.

Mature YA/ New Adult Romance genre

I enjoyed this book. The characters were easy to get to know. You learn to either love them or dislike them immediately. It is an easy read that has complicated and true to life problems. I enjoyed the journey the characters took, the choices they made, how they worked out issues and watching them grow. Winch is the typical "hot" bad boy, he is smart and loving but also a little closed off and he is everything that Evan swears she needs to avoid. Evan is a beautiful, smart and witty young lady and is just what Winch needs, but he knows that those close to him will never accept her and so he tries to stay away from her. They are assigned to the same community service duties, so it is nearly impossible to fight their fierce attraction to each other. (There are most definitely some pretty "steamy" very adult scenes.) Winch has to decide between loyalty to his relentless family or his true love. This was a fun read and I would recommend it to others!

Amazing story poor performance

Liz Reindhardt's words are so beautiful. She is such an amazing author. The narrators don't give this book justice. Thier accents and voices are so much more mature than the characters I felt a disconnect which was so sad because the words that were spoken were so beautiful.

i would say that this book was a time killer. It was not a binge read. I had to force myself to keep going. If you have lots of time, on an airplane or in traffic, then it's ok, still not great.

Sweet romance!!

I really enjoyed this story, one of the classics themes done just right. Who can resist opposites attracting and an unexpected pregnancy? Not me!

I love a mixed narrative, getting POV from both leads is key. You get a fuller picture and a more enriching read. This book needed those glimpses of insight to help you feel the story.

Caroline and Charlie have a very interesting dynamic. They each have a wrong idea of who the other is, it makes them fight the attraction. Once they do get together it is delightful to see them fall in love. Sometimes it is the little things that make a romance.

The bedroom door is closed-ish. You have hints of detail, and that is enough to warm a gal up.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Christa G. Lewis, who is wonderful. She always does a great job with bringing the emotions to life throughout the read. I loved her tone and appreciated the swift pace. She knows how deliver a sweet romance!

Overall, I enjoyed this book, I just wish I had read the first book in the series before picking this up. Lots of references were made to that romance and how that couple got together. Now i need to find it to really appreciate the events.

Why do you change readers?

The Brown series had a great reader. Now all of the voices have changed and sound a bit squeaky and breathy. I don't know. It is distracting.

Interesting

I had high expectations of this book but if fell short for me. I felt disconnected from Mary and Damien's story. I expected there to be more heat between them but I just wasn't enthralled like I was with "Tart".

I would buy this book on sale but I don't know if I think it's worth a credit or full price.

More Sex Than Story

This is the third instalment of what looks to be four books and was proceeded by Midnight Sins and Deadly Sins. You really need to be listening to them in order, otherwise I suspect the story line here would be very confusing. Secret Sins follows Sherriff Archer Tobias and his relationship with Anna Corbin and the ongoing murders that are plaguing the county in which they live.

I had enjoyed the first two books, and was looking forward to this one but it was somewhat disappointing as there was very little plot and a whole lot of sex. Lora Leigh is the Queen of bedroom scenes (imo), but this book got repetitive really fast - in fact I'm sure she did repeat some of the scenes word for word! Clare Claremont was very good in her narration, but overall I was disappointed at the lack of plot. I'll still be looking out for the fourth book in the series when it is available and hopefully there will be more of the actual story in that one!

I Tried!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Well I thnk I would of enjoyed it much better if Anna wasn't so "down" on herself. Constantly feeling unwanted does wear on the nerves. I mean get some spunk and if she feels that way then quit being a rugmat. She should of left Archer and moved in with her friends/cousins until he gave her what she needed other than sex. Maybe it would of been more exciting to of kept her apart from Archer, spice up the danger to her life with him trying to win her and playing up hot passionate sex. Just a thought.

Was Secret Sins worth the listening time?

It's just a average listen for me. Even the sexual stuff is just ok. I'd rather listened to something else. I was glad when this was over.

I'd spend my credit on something else. This one just didn't make it. I couldn't connect.

Disappointing

I have read more than twenty of Lora Leigh's novels and have rarely but disappointed which is why this book is such a letdown. I couldn't sympathize with the characters and felt as if I had heard it all before.

Series is Finally Over &I am Happy-That's Not Good

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I've been critical of this series...it was one of my first delves into this genre. It was o.k. but after reading a lot more since it is disappointing.

There IS a story here that COULD have been intense and edgy.
