3.5* MIXED FEELINGS AS NOT EXACTLY WHAT I'D HOPED FOR

Lucas is all kinds of bad... he's just been released from Prison and he's a high ranking member of Boston's infamous The Sons of Steel Row - a violent Gang of criminals who don't think twice about murder, they trade guns, women, drugs and launder money. But the handsome and toned bad boy Garage owner relies heavily on his instincts... and they're saying he needs to get out now before it's too late. Across from his Garage is a Bar but it's not the Bar or the drink that's intriguing him... no, it's the beautiful feisty bar owner Heidi who's caught his attention. I don't know what makes us, the listeners, connect or not to characters and to be mentally transported or not into their lives - but for some reason this book just didn't really do it for me. As Lucas didn't know who to trust it was sadly obvious to me who the Puppet Master was behind the attempted murders. But there was a twist or two at the end that absolutely blindsided me and left me reeling from its impact on Lucas and Heidi's lives and where the plot will eventually lead to.

Suspense and Secrets! Winning Combination!

The Royal Bastard: Royal Scandals Book 4 by Nicole Burnham. Although this book is part of a series it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. However, you will get a better understanding of the action of the characters if you have read/listened to prior books in the series. Rocco Cornaro is a wealthy man he is on the cutting edge of inventing and implementing life-saving medical technology and devices. BUT, Rocco Cornaro has a secret. In keeping this secret, he has alienated his wife, Justine. Although they live separately, Rocco still feels deeply for Justine. When Justine is kidnapped by the Russian enforcers and held for ransom will Rocco reveal his secret and risk everything to save her? This has been my favorite book of this series. The plot is fast paced. The characters are interesting and their interactions are believable and sometimes intense.

Hollis McCarthy did an excellent job narrating this book. She kept a good pace and the chapters seemed to flow together well. There were no noticeable miscues, pauses or issues with the narrating of this story. Ms. McCarthy, as usual, did a great job with the accents and characters she seemed to be able to flow from one to the other without issue. At times you felt that you were feeling what the characters were.

My favorite of the series...so far.

This series has been a favorite of mine. I've completely enjoyed it. I don't have a lot of time to listen to audio books, so it's a treat. At first I wasn't as into this story. I'm not sure why. I think I wanted for Nicole Burnham to move forward with the "known" Barrali children's stories. I had no attachment Rocco. But after the first quarter, I was frustrated to not be able to get back to listening. I intend to listen to this again knowing I'll feel differently about the beginning since Rocco has become a favorite. With the twists revealed in this book, it turned into my favorite book so far.

I just love Hollis McCarthy's voice. She performs these books perfectly.

This is by far my favorite book in the Royal Scandal Series. In Rocco's story we learn about the secrets that he and his mother are keeping. The fact that he and his twin brother and sister are the illegitimate children of King Carlo. Through keeping this secret Rocco's wife Justine has left him. When Justine is kidnapped by the Russian Mob and held for ransom, Rocco must reveal his secrets in order to save her.

IT'S ALL HERE.. THE SINS THE SUFFERING & THE LOVE

This second roller coaster ride into the tumultuous world that Arthur (aka Art/Kill) and the once lost but now found love of his life Chloe was just as dark, mysterious, suspenseful, sexy, romantic and cluttered with secrets as the first book was as they desperately grabbed and hung on to each other through a nightmare of despair in the hope of getting their second chance at a HEA.

It was sometimes violent, often nerve wracking, had surprises, shocks and revelations as each unpredictable Chapter unfolded and the War between rival MC's pitched a no good evil and deadly Father against his vengeful Son Kill who was determined to seek revenge, free his torment, gain absolution from past crimes and protect Chloe.... the woman he loved beyond all else and would gladly die for. But in doing so Kill put his life in terrible danger, lost MC brothers and temporarily severed the soul-deep connection between himself and Chloe that had been forged in childhood. However, the biggest life altering secret would be revealed when Wall Street, Kill's Mentor, the Puppet Master and once his cell mate, was released from Prison and all the Chess pieces were finally in place to fit the last piece into this crazy, all consuming and addictive puzzle.

This was a riveting listen from beginning to end, it had lots of intense sex, a beautiful yet tragic love story, thrills, chills, danger, kidnapping, blood lust, blood loss, nail biting suspense and some touch and go life threatening scenes but through it all Chloe and Kill loved each other fiercely. Told from alternating POV's with each Chapter starting off with a brief glimpse into their pasts and giving an insight into their feelings and young love. Great narration - there was never any doubt as to who was talking - with good male voices too.

Worth a credit? YES, but it's been an emotional, tense and exhausting listen.... and I wouldn't change a thing because this gifted Author and Narrator combo have given me a very enjoyable, haunting, memorable, addictive listen and, in the end, I was rewarded with a wonderful HEA too.

Loved it but....

I really enjoyed the book but got extremely frustrated with Art being injured and they were still having sex all the time even though it endangered his life/mental faculties. I would think a man so smart and a woman who loved said man so much one would look out for Arts life.

Totally engaging!!

I read this book before it came out on audio and I bought the audio just to hear it read to me.

Horrible Mismatch of Narrator and Material

In vain have I struggled. It will not do. This audiobook is impossible to listen to, due to the dreadful mismatch of story (slightly chick-litty, but also with very serious subject matter such as murderous psychotic pedophiles) and narrator (who speaks in lively, chirpy-cheerful, sing-songy sentences that would be ideally suited to regular chick lit where no children get abducted and no one is brutally murdered).

If you try really, really hard, though, and repeat each sentence in your head in a serious (or even conversationally neutral/normal) voice, you can see that this is a reasonably good story with a plot you'd want to get to the end of, to find out what happens! I have given up and purchased the iBook, and I urge you to save yourself the anguish of attempting this grotesquely mis-narrated audiobook and just skip straight to reading the book yourself. It is a good story and, when you tell it to yourself, well told!

Slow story, good narrator

I thought this book was a bit slow, honestly, but I thought the narrator did a good job. Her voice is pleasant, and I could tell all the characters a part. Lots of plot twists as always. Somehow, I just wanted more dark suspense, I think. It didn't seem to gather momentum like some of Jayne's other books.

Jayne has done it again for me! Loved it.

Are we listening to the same book, I loved it and thought it was great. It is a murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

MC Story ~ Raw, Turbulent, Sexy!

Ok, I'll admit it, the smokin` hot cover really caught my eye! But it was story and narration that really drew me in! This MC story's got some steamy sex scenes, a decent plot, and great character development.

From the very beginning, Brass was a likeable character, who was not only tough, and sexy but compassionate. Without knowing anything about Missy, he claims her as his "Old Lady" in an attempt to save her and her younger sisters lives. When Missy finds herself and her younger sister at the mercy of the Grizzlies MC gang, with only Brass to protect them, she's thinking she's suffering from a strong case of Stockholm Syndrome because she so attracted to Brass. While he convinces her to play along with the "Old Lady" charade, the chemistry between them develops into something more. As their feelings towards each other become real, they find themselves in danger, and Brass will do whatever it takes to hold on, and save what is "his".

The dual narration was great! Mason and Tatiana both did an awesome job delivering the different emotions from the dirty talk, steamy sex scenes, to the character's angst during the more intense scenes.

Another Kindle Unlimited gem, and Whispersync deal that totally captivated me for hours! I've already downloaded book two!

A chance find .... great listen!

I am very particular about certain story lines and biker romances fall into that category.

The story of Missy and Brass is believable... totally hot and gives me my HEA after some plot twists. This is very bikeish! There are other MC series I prefer, but this will do in the interim. Missy meets Brass under harsh circumstances that cause he to act to save her life. Their story takes off from there. I do not want to spoil the plot. I believe it is best when heard.

Tatiana Sokolov is one of my favorite narrator/performer, which is why I gave this story a shot to begin with. Mason Loyd grated on my nerves. This is worth a sale and if nothing better is out there, a credit.

GOOD START, INTERESTING CHARACTERS & SWEET ROMANCE

Brass and Missy's relationship didn't start off well..... to protect the vulnerable woman and her sister Brass claims Missy as his Old Lady and, in doing so, he has saved them from being killed and also is now totally responsible for them. He doesn't know what to do with them both - but he knows what he'd like to do to Missy although he initially resists the temptation and instead puts her to work cleaning the Clubhouse (all I can say is... yuk yuk yuk).

where's the editor?

the story was great and the narration was exceptional, but it seems like this book seriously lacked in editing. phrases repeating, trains of thought really drawn out... I love this series, but I feel like now that I'm hooked the publisher no longer needs to try so hard.

Loved it!

Loved the narration as much as the book. Except for Eve's voice. It felt a bit too masculine for me. But only a slight distraction.

Love this author and narrator!

Lexi Blake delivers again with a suspenseful and sexy story on the continuation of her series and Ryan West does a masterful ( see what I did there ) job bringing it to life.

As this series continues I fall a little more for each of the characters. Alex and Eve were always ment for each other, this story sucks you into the storm that is their existence! But don't start here read the first in this series!

LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS!

Maryann Jordan has really done it! I've been listening to story while at work and some parts had me on the edge of my computer chair! Then there was some humor as well, and I would laugh out loud. I love the guys' expression, " THANK F___! Love it!! Tony and Sherri were at a pont in their lives where they really needed each other. And Emily Beresford's narration was excellent. She really got into the characters.

Love and Hate

I like the story line but just cant listen to the narrator again! Awful. She tries to be too dramatic, and her over pronunciation is grating. I'll buy the book and read the next one. I prefer the voice in my head.

S York excellent...O. Song awful narrator!

The storyline of Ivy was dead on for her character based on previous books. A bad-a** ex-navy seal is basically the only person in this world who would attract Ivy's attention so I found that to be realistic. I actually enjoy all of K.A. Tucker's books but this particular version performed by Olvia Song was almost unbearable. Every time "Ivy"'s chapter came up and she spoke in any type of "male" voice it made me want to turn it off - yes its that bad. Sebastian York is phenomenal as usual and I wish Elizabeth Louise was the narrator for Ivy hence the 3 stars for performance.

I really wanted to like this book.....

Not very interesting. I made it through 2/3 and finally gave it up. The protagonists are too much alike to be interesting

I love Olivia Song's voice. That said, the criticisms of her forcing a male voice are valid.

I was led to this title after reading "He Will be my Ruin." THAT is a great book by the same author. I've read it twice now and enjoyed every minute.

PASS on this title and get HE WILL BE MY RUIN.

Not my fav of hers, but mostly enjoyable

This was good for the most part. I am not a big suspense person, but this really held my interest. I didn't love the female main character, I couldn't relate to her at all. Also, the female narrator has a nice female voice, but an awful male voice. The male narrator was great, as usual.

Love KA Tucker

KA Tucker is a genius. I buy everything she writes and she knocks it out of the park!! So well written, complex and suspenseful. Loved these two and the secondary characters.

Good story but the narrator's male voices AWFUL

if you liked the earlier books in the series you won't be disappointed, though the first was the best. I hate it when a woman narrator does goofy male voices (and when a male narrator makes all women sound like Valley Girls) and that was very distracting. Please, more attention to the performances please! these are not cheap

Ok book. Major BDSM

This book was ok. Good but not great. One of the rougher BDSM books that I've listened to. This is not a use a safe word and everything stops type of Dom/Sub relationship.

VERY VERY HOT. WORTH THE CREDIT

I was worried at first but as soon as. I started I couldn't stop. I finished it in on day. To my followers get ready cuz you are going to need some cuddle time from your other half or your friend BOB. Julian is as insatiable as they come. Dark, twisted and kinky!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deviant?

There were two. The first was when Mia wept in Julien's arms after confessing about her traumatic past. That proved to be a game changer in both their lives and we saw a more human side to Julien. And, on the flip side, the scene in the warehouse when Julien cruelly whipped Mia and then had dubious consent sex with her to extract the truth was so horrifying and titillating it gave me shivers!!

Have you listened to any of Philip Alcess other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my favorite to date. He OWNED the role of Julien. His deep, masculine voice was both sinister and seductive, I literally quaked. And Philip emoted so beautifully in both the hero and heroine POV! I had heart palpitations throughout and it was such a visceral experience for me...I felt as if i was in the room with the characters experiencing it firsthand!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! It killed me to have to stop for real life. It typically takes me three weeks to finish an audio and I binge listened to this in less than a week!!! It was amazeballs!

I just finished the audiobook of DEVIANT, narrated by the marvelously talented Philip Alces, and OMG this heart palpitating, hot AF dark romance might in fact be my absolute FAVORITE Natasha Knight dark romance to date!

This story made me blush, quiver, squirm, cringe and shudder in equal measure!! Julien is one dirty-talking, dominant, DEPRAVED baddie who was oh so menacing yet also so deeply broken he made me love him despite his heinous acts.
