Mother Trucking Snakes
Would you try another book from Skye Callahan and/or Sierra Kline?
I dont think Id be able to handle another book like this, it wasnt really my style but I would probably give it a shot if it explained how she ended up there and if the entire trafficking ring gets brought down, for that Id check it out.
Any additional comments?
Ill be honest, it was hard for me to get past the sexual brutality and human trafficking, which is essentially the bulk of this novel. I want to know who drugged Silver/Rose and possibly her friend, who set her up?
My mind leapt to her boyfriend, the guy she wouldnt let move in with her. There were a lot of plot twists, and I can understand Silver fighting and rebelling, I dont think Id be able to survive that environment.
I thought that the snake dreams/tattoos were a smart idea, especially when Silver realizes that the snake is her protector.
Brutal Darkness Turns To Romance
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'm not sure most of my friends would be able to get past the sexual brutality, forced slavery, and human trafficking which is a good portion of the book. There is a sweet romance that develops in the midst of it all that makes it well worth getting beyond the initial brutality.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I found myself wondering how I would react to a similar situation as the main character. I'm hoping I would be up to the challenge but I am in no way interested in finding out for sure! There were some parts of the book that I would have liked to explore more, like how she and her friend managed to become drugged while out at a restaurant and only one of them taken into slavery. Did someone set her up? I think there was a hidden camera in the apt the main character lived in with her master (Gabe said she was sleeping in her masters bed each night but he couldn't know that unless there was a hidden camera) but that was never explored. I also think the main character spent too much time drugged (not by her own choice) and found that it was often hard to keep up with what was going on while she was slipping in and out of coherency.
Have you listened to any of Sierra Klines other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to any of her previous work but felt she did a great job with this book. I could listen to her for hours (and I did!). She does well with different voices, particularly men's voices which I think can be a challenge for many.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I wanted to find out what was happening next.
Any additional comments?
I think the door could be open for a sequel.
