AWFULLY WONDERFUL!!!

Would you listen to Stinker Lets Loose! again? Why?

You bet y'er tuchus I'll be listenin' to this over an' over again! If Jesus Christ ever crossed the land bridge this is undoubtedly the tome he'd chisel onto golden plates and bury deep in the ground to plant the seeds of American freedom. Come to think of it, Mike Sacks may himself be the holiest prophet we've got anywhere north of an Ocean City MD boardwalk psychic. Possibly wiser than A Ripley's Believe it or Not ticket-taker. Definitely holier than a South of the Border bartender. In other words, this story's got it all.

What did you like best about this story?

The attention to detail is phenomenal and really captures the era being celebrated and satirized. Paired with tremendous production quality to enrich the story, characters seared themselves into my mind's eye with distinctive voices.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Not much to say on this front, other than the fact that the narrator was exactly what I imagined while reading the book. He totally nailed it.

Not the best book in the series by a long shot

Dont split the party. These are words to live by, and for good reason. CF lacks a lot when the main characters dont get a chance to interact with each other as a general party.

Also the ending was super disappointing. I am growing tired of these books ending on cliff hangers. It wouldn't kill you to write a ending that closes out a story rather than making me feel like I just bought a half completed story. I am starting to feel like RB is taking his writing model from EA and Ubisofts video games. Sell the consumer a half finished product so they have to keep buying more if they want to get closure.

Never the less, S5S saved this for me. Another amazingly produced audiobook, in a series that I will continue to buy.

Story was flushed into the dire rat sewer!

What disappointed you about Critical Failures V?

I loved the other books in the series but this was really disappointing. There was no real story here. The party was all separated and to top it off it ends when it gets to the first interesting predicament. This is a half completed book and I hope Mr. Bevan knows it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Bevan again?

I will continue with the series but honestly it is getting thin. If the next story is not better than this I'm out.

Which character as performed by Jonathan Sleep was your favorite?

Jonathan Sleep has done a great job with making these books more enjoyable. His characters are obnoxious and fun! I can't pick a favorite character.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Worst of the series!

The entire book could not exist with maybe the exception of the last page or two and the next book would make sense. I really enjoyed all the other books however this felt like something the publisher made him put out on a deadline. It just feels like an entire filler book with no real meaning to the collection as a whole. Still love the entire series but if lacking cash i would wait until he writes 6 and see if there is a deal for this one. Jokes are good. Great dark humor as we have come to love just no real story line here.

Half a Book

What did you like best about Critical Failures V? What did you like least?

The performance, as usual, was stellar. Saturn Five Sound is amazing.

However, the story never really went anywhere. Just as it was starting to get to a place where I thought to myself, "finally, we've gone through what we needed to do to get to the good stuff," the story ended without getting to the good stuff.

I do not consider this a classic cliffhanger. CF 1,2,3 and 4 all teased you with more cool/important/dark stuff to come, but they also finished a complete story in the process. There was no complete story here.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Bevan? Why or why not?

Heck yes! Bevan is the bomb. He writes great stories, and I always want to buy his next book.

Great read - Give it to every teacher you know, no matter how long they've been teaching

I have a sister who teaches (for years now), 2 nieces teaching (1st year) & another w/ a year left of college, on towards a Masters in Special Ed, a potential niece-in-law who teaches & I've made it a point to buy & send a Kindle copy to every one of them. All of them have agreed that this is a great book.

If you are not a teacher - you still need to read this! You will get an eye opener into what our teachers face everyday in the classroom & why they are some of the most underpaid professionals in this country as far as I'm concerned. They're responsible for trying to teach our next generations of Dr's, Scientists, Engineers, Pilots, Welders, Mechanics and everyone else who needs to be able to read & do basic math for their jobs....... we will be hiring them either directly or via their companies & we want them to do it right.

Do you remember a favorite (or not so favorite) teacher? You'll enjoy this.

Almost anything Richard Lederer writes is "five-star" quality. This book will be a particularly fun read for people involved in education. I just wish it were/was (Lederer would know which) a bit longer.

Ironically, so great!

This book, counter-intuitively, to the title was one of the most motivating books I have read/listened to in a long time. It induced a paradigm shift that I plan to embrace.

Not your typical self help book

For a self help junkie like myself this book was the opposite of everything I had read before. I was shocked and had to laugh at some of the things in this book and wonder wow maybe I have been thinking wrong this entire time. Keep am open mind and you will love this book.

I loved that the writer was honest and gave a completely different perspective than I am used to hearing.

Good message but lacking explicit strategies

This book provides a good description of a new way of thinking, why the old way is not helping you achieve your goals, and why this new way is better. But it lacks explanation of how this really works. Other than simply mind over matter, it does not offer many ideas. You are on your own to figure out how you will take this new information and apply it to your life. Not a bad thing as we are all different and will interpret this differently, just an observation.

Why you should read ?

A follow up to why we suck. Denis Leary makes some valid points pointing out the flaws of both political parties. Funny, blunt, and sometimes heartfelt as he discusses the selflessness of his friends and family in the hardships that stuck American soil. He talks about his charity, people hes met, and times hes been mistakenly called Willem Dafoe (and or) Kevin Bacon. Its great really and an equal offender. Enjoy

SO GOOD I LOVED IT

Wow I love this book so much its just so funny and straight forward I love all of his funny storys and life advice.

Excellent as always!

I find myself getting harder and harder to please when it comes to comedy the older I get. Denis Leary has never had a problem making me laugh. I heard him announce the book a week or so ago on the Stern show and decided to give this and "Why We Suck" a listen. He's unapologetic and addresses everyone in the room, no one escapes his list and while I sat there nodding and listening I thought of a few friends and family members of mine that needed to hear this gold. It's life advice, it's hopefully a wakeup call for some of you, with a little biography shuffled in there were moments where I had to pull over I was laughing so hard.
