I wanted to love it. His YouTube series are great

What would have made How to Be Ultra Spiritual better?

I know he was trying to do the "yogi spiritual" voice but all the sentences just seem to run together. The chapters just dragged on and on turning his reading at times into the Charlie Brown adult teacher "wah wah wah wah wah wah" speech.. There were a couple of other speaker parts that I feel were helpful in the stories.

What was most disappointing about JP Searss story?

That I enjoy his YouTube series and disliked the book. The content is actually funny but for some reason it didn't work as well for the audio reading.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His voice inflection is very drone.

What character would you cut from How to Be Ultra Spiritual?

I thought all the characters listed were fine

His videos are hilarious but it doesn't seem to transfer well to audio or maybe I am not enlightened spiritually enough to appreciate his great teachings through this intended platform.

so funny, finished in about a week. the more u knows about the subject matter the funnier it will be, up to a point anyway, after that itll just be offensive... but its for ur health! lol

Not Spiritual enough.

I was expecting my third eye to open to the infinite cosmos and reveal God playing backgammon with Alan Watts. I'm still giving 5 starts because it's arbitrary.

If you like JP Sears, you will love this audio book. Don't hesitate, just click the button and buy it. It's a fun romp through the new age and will make you feel happy all over. I discovered JP Sears a few years ago from his viral video of the same name. He came to the indi bookstore in my little backwater to promote his book and I really wanted to see him! But I was out of town when he was here! Oh noooes! But listening to his audio book made up for that deficit and I continue to follow JP Sears on Youtube. Listen to this book read by the author or else.

It was ok.

I like JP Sears, and I think he is brilliant when it comes to psychology and to thinking in general; which is contradictory for a religious, meat eating, egotistical, politically conservative individual.

No, to my knowledge I haven't.In my Amazon review I tried to correct this - To no avail.I will certainly look into his past books!

I recognized every meeting I've ever been to. The author has made it impossible for me to sit through another meeting without smirking or laughing out loud at the gamesmanship.

I'M BIGGER ALREADY!!

Dom is a comically douchey character off YouTube. Not to be confused with the many tragically douchey characters on YouTube. If you're like me and you think mostly in sarcastic insults and bodybuilding references this book is perfect for you.

I listened to this with earbuds while walking around campus. I was constantly laughing and smiling. Sometimes I'd zone out while listening and be looking at someone with a huge smile on my face. Made for some awkward times! Great book!

Brilliant and funny

Caitlin Moran's writing is new to me. I find it interesting, thought provoking, lyrical and wildly funny.

Why?

Nothing against Ms. Neary at all, but why did Ms. Moran not narrate this? After the last two gut-busting, laugh til I cried audiobooks with the author's unique voice, this feels like less. Which is entirely unfair of me, but there we are once expectations have been set. Will give it a go and report back on it. UPDATE: If anyone other than the author had to read this, they chose a brilliant substitute for Ms. Moran. Ms. Neary is fantastic.

Full of witty "moranicisms"

Having read and loved both How to Build a Woman and How to be a Girl by Ms. Moran, I was excited when I saw this collection of her pieces from the Times of London, where she has been writing an Op-Ed column for many years. I enjoyed this book immensely, not only because it was full of witty moranicisms (my wordbut Caitlin, go ahead and use it for your next book title if you want!) but more because of the wide range of topics covered. From pop culture subjects like David Bowie and 5:2 diets to world issues like Syrian refugees and the Charlie Hebdo massacre, her eloquence and passion shine through.

Some of my favorite pieces in the collection:

Part One The Twenty-First Century, Where We Live is mostly focused on pop culture. In the wonderfully silly I Cant Stop Listening to Get Lucky Moran unabashedly describes being so hooked on a pop song that she listens to it literally hundreds times in a week. Weirdly, at the time I read this chapter, I was obsessively listening to the soundtrack for La La Land and trying to memorize the words to its opening song, Another Day of Sun. I didnt count the number of times I listened, but its got to be close to 50 times and its still not out of my system. I hear it in the background of my mind as I am meditating.
