It's anything but Grimm when the Tell 'Em Steve Dave crew gives their hilarious takes on some of the best and least known fairy tales.
Join Bryan Johnson, Brian Quinn and Walt Flanagan with special guest Sunday Jeff as they create a magical world of fantasy and wonder, trolls, living plants, and sinful dwarves. It doesn't get any better than this...or funnier.

Where does Tell Em Steve Dave Fair-re-re Tale Theater rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
After listening to this I wanted nothing more than to forget I'd ever 'been' with any other audiobook. I'll forever regret and lament that I hadn't stayed pure and let TESD Fair-re-re tale theater take my audiobook virginity.
What other book might you compare Tell Em Steve Dave Fair-re-re Tale Theater to and why?
Compare it to another book? You're kidding, right? Why not compare the sun to a match? The finest French wine to fetid Florida swamp water? What a ponderous request you make!
What about the narratorss performance did you like?
Bry, Walt, Q, and Sunday Jeff....are Seraphim. Their voices are second only to God's own.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I challenge anyone to employ an alternate solution. The credits alone are superior to the content in total of every other audiobook ever published.
    Any additional comments?
I'm starting a Kickstarter project to fund the resculpting of Mount Rushmore in the images of Bry, Walt, Q, & Sunday Jeff. Have four men ever held such sway over the collective attitude and mindset of an entire nation? I think not.
    These men are extraordinary.
    These men are unique.
    These men transcend the divine.
Just kidding. They're lil ol ants just like the rest of us.
    Flanagan is GOD

The antidote to those cotton-candy platitudes that are all too familiar to anyone whos ever worn a mortarboard, Wheelans 10 head-turning aphorisms - backed up by a PhD in public policy and extensive social science research - set the record straight. Readers everywhere agreed, turning a Dartmouth Class Day speech that had gone viral into a best-selling book.
Whether praising the time wasted in fraternity basements; mentioning that, frankly, the worst days of your life still lie ahead; or simply asking that graduates avoid wreaking the kind of havoc that others before them have, Wheelan softens his candid conclusions with good-natured charm and tales of unconventional success. With cartoons sprinkled throughout to keep things light, this volume makes a perfect gift for graduates of all ages.

    Wow
Loved it! Wish I would have heard it 20 years ago, but if I had I probably wouldn't had appreciated it as much.
    Thought provoking message
I listened to it again with my husband and son during a road trip. The book is not too long and has a great message.
Wish I had someone tell me all of these things
Good narration. I wanted someone to tell me all of these things years ago. However, lots of insight and I feel that I can use the information as I am at a turning point in my career.

  • Rich People Things Audiobook by Chris Lehmann

    Title: Rich People Things
    Author: Chris Lehmann
    Narrator: Benjamin J. Kass
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 26 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-18-13
    Publisher: OR Books
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 6 votes
    Genres: Comedy, Satire
    Publisher's Summary:
It's never easy being rich: endless tax avoidance, the Sisyphean search for reliable domestic staff, the never-ending burden of surly stares from the Great Sea of the Unwashed as one goes about one's rightful business. Toughest of all is simply keeping track of everything one owns. There's so much of it. And personal possessions are just the beginning.
You must keep a gimlet eye, too, on the myriad people and institutions that safeguard your gilded status: politicians, newspapers, financial instruments, branches of government. They all belong to you. But staying on top of what they're up to is a full time job. What's an overstretched gazillionaire to do?
Now, with the publication of Rich People Things, the problems of our over-classes are, well, over. In a concise, easy-to-use guide, Chris Lehmann catalogs the fortifications that shelter the opulent from the resentments of the hoi polloi. From ideological stanchions such as the Free Market and the Prosperity Gospel, through the castellation of media, including The New York Times, Wired Magazine and reality television, to burly gatekeepers such as David Brooks, Steve Forbes, and Alan Greenspan, the well-to-do will find, in these pages, a comforting and comprehensive array of the protections that allow them to sleep sound at night.
For the rest of us, Lehmann's sparkling prose, at the same time pointed and whimsical, can at least provide a diverting glimpse into how the top one percent maintains an iron grip on almost half of America's financial wealth.

Why are rich people Chris Lehmann's villans?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
That is explained well in the book, and would recommend it to all.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
The clear explanation of how the rich are able to twist everything to best meet their needs.
Which character as performed by Benjamin J. Kass was your favorite?
This isn't really that kind of book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Language: English
    Release date: 11-01-12
    Publisher: BBC Worldwide Limited
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 56 votes
    Genres: Comedy, Satire
    Publisher's Summary:
Four classic episodes from the original TV series: Arrival, Songs of Praise, Easter Special and The Christmas Lunch Incident. Welcome to Dibley, a perfect village full of some perfectly peculiar people - including Alice Tinker and her underactive brain, Owen Newitt and his overactive bowels, and Letitia Cropley and her orange cake with Branston pickle icing.
Council ruler David Horton has everything running exactly as he wishes - until 102-year-old Reverend Pottle dies. That's when the trouble begins, for the new vicar of Dibley is Geraldine, a babe with a bob and a magnificent bosom. In these instalments, the vicar increases the church-going public, finds something remarkably attractive about television, learns about suffering by giving up chocolate for Lent, and promises herself too many Christmas lunches with too many people.
Starring Dawn French, with Gary Waldhorn, James Fleet, Roger Lloyd Pack, Emma Chambers and Trevor Peacock.

    Thank you Audible!!
What did you love best about Vicar of Dibley 1?
I loved the TV series and this is an audio only version of the show.
What other book might you compare Vicar of Dibley 1 to and why?
The Good Life and Fawlty Towers are two other BBC televion series transferred to audio exactly as aired with the exception of brief narration. The Good Life and Vicar of Dibley are both very warm and funny.
What about Dawn Frenchs performance did you like?
Dawn French is able to deliver barbs and sarcasm without a hint of malice, never losing that lovely feeling that she genuinely likes these kooky characters
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I had to ration it out slowly since there are (as of yet) no more in the series.
    Any additional comments?
I hope audible will make all of these wonderful shows available soon!
The same as the tv series
It's the audio from the tv series. So I can listen at my desk at work and remember what the scene was like. Awesome!
A show that feels like home.
Enjoyable television show, and equally enjoyable radio show. I only hope they will bring the remainder of the episodes into radio format here on audible.
    Vicar of Dibley 1
The Vicar of Dibley is so funny. It's a must. You will laugh like you do watching the TV show.
    Excellent show to begin with!
I have the entire series on DVD. Love the tv show. Was surprised to see this in an audiobook format. However, wish all of the series were put into an audiobook format. Can't wait for Vicar of Dibley 2!

    Title: Moranthology

    Language: English
    Release date: 10-25-12
    Publisher: Random House Audio Books
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 8 votes
    Genres: Comedy, Satire
    Publisher's Summary:
Possibly the only drawback about the best-selling How to Be a Woman was that its author, Caitlin Moran, was limited to pretty much one subject: being a woman.
Moranthology is proof that Caitlin can actually be quite chatty about many other things, including cultural, social and political issues which are usually the province of learned professors, or hot-shot wonks and not a woman who once, as an experiment, put a wasp in a jar, and got it stoned.
    These other subjects include:
    Members Reviews:
    Best reserved for Moran's fans
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, probably not, unless they told me they enjoyed one of her articles.
What do you think your next listen will be?
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I felt like Moran was trying to hard to be funny. I often thought that if I were reading the pieces, they would be funnier. I admire humor writers, but they aren't always as funny off the page.
Was Moranthology worth the listening time?
Ach. Not really. I chuckled a few times, but it was not as good as I'd expected.
    Any additional comments?
Humor is extremely personal. The person who recommended this to me was over the moon about it.
Not half as good as it should be
Performed with passion but tedious subject matter. Inordinate amount of time spent discussing Sherlock series on TV and bumming about with famous people.
Disappointing after the hilarity of 'How to be a woman'.
Will try 'How to build a girl' next.
    Mixed bag
Love her views on feminism, politics etc. not so much her rambling about Dr Who, Sherlock Holmes, Lady Gaga, television.....
I laughed, I cried, mostly laughed!
What made the experience of listening to Moranthology the most enjoyable?
It was mostly very funny, I actually stood laughing to myself while trying to do the dishes on more than one occasion. There were touching and sad parts as well but the contrast and the joy made these polar aspects even more extreme
What was one of the most memorable moments of Moranthology?
I think it was the Sherlock part. I also love BBC's Sherlock so it was brilliant to hear about it from another perspective and how much it is loved by the people who make it. The serious parts were very memorable for a very different reason and the description given of those will stay with me for some time but still written in a beautiful way that I felt showed consideration for the subject.
What about Caitlin Morans performance did you like?
Her honesty and self deprivation made it really easy to listen to.
    Any additional comments?
The only thing that grated on me was the word wholly which she pronounces holly and I pronounce holey so that is probably an accent thing that can't be helped. Other than that I enjoyed the narration very much.
    Good stuff
Warm, funny, rambunctious and pleasing from start to finish. An excellent companion on my commute - am sure to re-listen.

    Publisher's Summary:
Audie Award Nominee, Multi-Voiced Performance, 2013
John Hodgman - best-selling author, The Daily Show's "Resident Expert", minor television celebrity, and deranged millionaire - brings us the third and final installment in his trilogy of Complete World Knowledge.
In 2005, Dutton published The Areas of My Expertise, a handy little book of Complete World Knowledge, marked by the distinction that all of the fascinating trivia and amazing true facts were completely made up by its author, John Hodgman. At the time, Hodgman was merely a former literary agent and occasional scribbler of fake trivia. In short: a nobody.
But during an interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, an incredible transformation occurred. He became a famous minor television personality. You may ask: During his whirlwind tornado ride through the high ether of minor fame and outrageous fortune, did John Hodgman forget how to write books of fake trivia? The answer is: Yes. Briefly. But soon, he remembered!
And so he returned, crashing his Kansas farmhouse down upon the wicked witch of ignorance with More Information than You Require, a New York Times best seller containing even more mesmerizing and essential fake trivia, including seven hundred mole-man names (and their occupations).
And now, John Hodgman completes his vision with That Is All, the last book in a trilogy of Complete World Knowledge. Like its predecessors, That Is All compiles incredibly handy made-up facts into brief articles, overlong lists, and beguiling narratives on new and familiar themes. It picks up exactly where More Information left off - specifically, at page 596 - and finally completes Complete World Knowledge, just in time for the return of Quetzalcoatl and the end of human history in 2012.
16 Hours. Read by Dick Cavett, Patton Oswalt, Jon Hamm, Paul Rudd, Sarah Vowell, Brooke Shields, Scott Adsit, Robin Goldwasser, Jonathan Coulton, John Roderick, Rachel Maddow, Wyatt Cenac, Stephen Fry, Paul F. Tompkins, and Prominent Ragnarok Denier Dr. Elliott Kalan.
Music by Jonathan Coulton, John Roderick, John Flansburgh, John Darnielle, and Cynthia Hopkins.

    Great Highs, Weird Lows
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend at least two thirds of this book to a friend, which by itself is easily worth one credit.
If youve listened to books by John Hodgman before, how does this one compare?
Not as strong overall as the first two books in the series.
Have you listened to any of John Hodgmans other performances before? How does this one compare?
The performances by Hodgman, and a cast of others is great as always.
    Any additional comments?
This book has some hilarious parts, but suffers in a few areas. First Jonathan Coulton is only in it a short while, which is a bummer, but his part of the book is at least one of the high points. Second the book delves into an oddly depressing, short, autobiographical section that felt kinda out of place, and sort of killed the mood for a while. Third, the 700 X section of this book (700 hobos, and 700 molemen in the previous book) is about one and a half hours of John Hodgman speaking backwards over a music track. Even when I found a youtube video of someone who had kindly reversed the audio to make it understandable, the music kinda drowns out his voice. It's a real bummer that I can't bring myself to listen to it, because I bet it was pretty funny.

Title: 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate
    Author: Mike Gallagher
    Narrator: Mike Gallagher
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 37 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-28-12
    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 19 votes
    Genres: Comedy, Satire
    Publisher's Summary:
National radio talk show host Mike Gallagher provides a careful study into the psyche of the liberal mind, using humor and irony to both entertain and instruct.
A recent Gallup/USA Today Poll (not exactly Fox News Channel) revealed that 42 percent of Americans called themselves conservative, 35 percent moderate, while only 20 percent used the "L" word to describe themselves.
It doesnt take much heavy lifting to understand the surface characteristics of liberals. They are exceedingly well educated, and rarely miss an opportunity to tell you so. They are exceedingly upper-middle class, which we know because it takes real money to support a twice-a-day double decaf habit at Starbucks, and yoga sessions for the wife and pets. They gather in clusters in urban environments where sushi joints outnumber children, and they dominate professions that leave a large cultural footprint, such as journalism, the arts, and the music industry.
But just who are these people who call themselves liberals? And how does such a small group have such a big impact on our culture? What motivates them? And what do they have against deodorant?
In 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate, radio talk show host and Fox News Channel contributor Mike Gallagher uses his trademark humor to take the listener inside the life and mind of the American liberal, coming up with 50 definitive things liberals just love to hate.
    Members Reviews:
    Very funny
What did you love best about 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate?
My liberal friends even found a few things to laugh at.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked the chapter on babies :)
Have you listened to any of Mike Gallaghers other performances before? How does this one compare?
Never listened to his books before.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    No
    Any additional comments?
It's a fun quick listen... Laugh at yourself... Maybe see things from another point of view. Very enjoyable
Mr. Gallagher is reading your mind
Where does 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
One of the best. This covers so many subject and connects the dots in an intellectual and common sense pattern. Logical answers to life in the US today.
What did you like best about this story?
Humor. Most of the other books pointing out how much danger we are in make your blood boil and eyes bleed. This is an easy listen with a lot of humor. Now at least you can laugh while you cry.
Have you listened to any of Mike Gallaghers other performances before? How does this one compare?
    n/a
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. You always want to hear what the next thing liberals love to hate is.
    Any additional comments?
Facebook will not sell ad space for this book! Ah, the New Speak Dictionary 2012 will not allow the book because of the word hate is not allowed however they use the word "hate" in their explanation. Having listened to the audio version of this book, my opinion is this is a must read or listen. Mike Gallagher actually puts into words all the things you think of but never thought of saying. Kind of like a conservative version of Seinfeld. Light and humorous, should be listened to or read by conservatives and liberals alike.

    Audie Award Nominee, Humor, 2013
Book store nation, in the history of mankind there has never been a greater country than America. You could say we're the number one nation at being the best at greatness.
But as perfect as America is in every single way, America is broken! And we can't exchange it because we're 236 years past the 30-day return window. Look around - we don't make anything anymore, we've mortgaged our future to China, and the Apologist-in-Chief goes on world tours just to bow before foreign leaders. Worse, the L.A. Four Seasons Hotel doesn't even have a dedicated phone button for the Spa. You have to dial an extension! Where did we lose our way?!
It's high time we restored America to the greatness it never lost!
Luckily, America Again will singlebookedly pull this country back from the brink. Covering subject's ranging from healthcare ("I shudder to think where we'd be without the wide variety of prescription drugs to treat our maladies, such as think-shuddering") to the economy ("Life is giving us lemons, and we're shipping them to the Chinese to make our lemon-flavored leadonade") to food ("Feel free to deep fry this book-it's a rich source of fiber"), Stephen gives America the dose of truth it needs to get back on track.
    Members Reviews:
Not His Best, but Still Funny
As with his other book "I Am America (And So Can You!)," the guide to know whether or not you'll enjoy this is whether or not you enjoy the Colbert Report. And if you're going through withdrawals because that's not on the air anymore, this is a quick hit to normalize you.
It's not nearly as funny as the other book, but I still laughed. How can you not laugh? The whole reason to get the audio is the performance. Sure, you could read it in book form (and maybe you should!), but you'd be missing that vital Colbert-ness that makes it more entertaining than it really has a right to claim.
    I love Colbert Report, but...
What could Stephen Colbert have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Add more substance. It seemed that most of this book was a rehash of stuff from his show, without presenting any new ideas. It's a very short book as it is, so fresh concepts would be appreciated. Also some of the sidebar "skits" were not at all interesting or clever and seemed especially juvenile, which made me want to fast forward through an already short book. .
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably not, but an equivalent would be to watch several episodes of the Colbert Report.
    Any additional comments?
Stephen Colbert is an entertaining performer, and could make almost any book enjoyable. However, the way he performed it was the best thing about the book -- the content does not really stand alone as a book.
    Funny as usual
Much like the show. His tongue in cheek opinions that represent a FOX news pundit on steroids are so laughable that even conservatives will find it amusing. In this installment he covers everything from jobs and the economy to Obamacare. The strongest bits were at the beginning but then wavered towards the end of the book. His set on food towards the end was so forgettable that I can't even remember it and I finished this book just the other day.

Scott Ott, American's leading family-friendly Conservative satirist, brings you the Preamble to the Constitution as understood by our friends on the Progressive Left. He takes the Preamble phrase-by-phrase, explaining what it means, what it used to mean, and what it really, truly could mean in a land where dreams come true. This mini-audiobook takes you inside the head of a left-wing Constitutional scholar, where there's plenty of room to move around and rearrange things.
Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin and many others have praised Scott Ott's "fake but true" news satire, which he wrote at ScrappleFace.com for eight years. He's author of Axis of Weasels and Laughing at Obama: Volume I, and now writer and anchor of PJ News Break with Scott Ott, the thrice-weekly, three-minute news satirecast on PJTV.com and on the ScrappleFace channel on YouTube.

Scott Ott is a genius at satire. Unfortunately, it seems like this could be used as a textbook in a present day college class, and the satire part would fly right over the students' heads.
    Scott knows satire.
Scott Ott's brand of satire is how good satire is written. No wonder Rush mentions him periodically on his radio show. Enjoyed this comical short read. Caution: Progressives probably won't find it as humorous as I did. They'd use it as a study manual :)
    remember 'fractured fairy tales' ?
This is a hilarious fractured take on the preamble to our Constitution. Scott Ott is a master of satire, and this is an excellent brief example of his talent.
    Crap
Author should be writing the next communist manifesto. The author's attempt to justify a government that disregards th individual is laughable.
    Brilliant
Scott Ott is the best. His analysis of the Preamble to the Constitution is a history lesson on the corruption of the United States founding ideas.
