    Very Close to 5 Stars
Good story well told. Characters well developed and easy to identify with. Super narration. The ending was just a bit too "pat" for my tastes.
A Mystery Gem by a Great Writer
"The triumph of the human condition was to face one small defeat after another and to survive them relatively intact."
Minette Walters ranks with wonderful writers who just happen to specialize in mysteries. Her stories are complex, the characters are brilliantly drawn, and the dialogue is crisp and compelling.
"The Ice House" is Walters' first novel. It involves a decent but troubled policeman who must deal with a murder case complicated by history, prejudice, and misperception. Much is learned about the nature of personal betrayal, human cruelty, and determined friendship. Do not miss this!
    Fantastic Listen
This book was fantastic. The writing was excellent, the characters were dynamic, and the plot was more than sufficient for what I hoped to get out of it. If you're looking for a good mystery novel, you're in the right place.
    Great read!
I am a Minette Walters fan. I only recently discovered this novel, however. Though it wasn't nearly as gory as some of her other work, it kept my attention and curiosity piqued through the very end.
    Really enjoyable
I've been reading a number of Minette Walters lately. Well, listening to... In the past I have read her and enjoyed her. I thought that this was a superior outing. I enjoyed the characters, enjoyed finding out the secrets that they possessed, and it had a great payoff.
    Definitely recommend this book.

    Title: Drawing Conclusions
Subtitle: A Commissario Guido Brunetti Mystery
    Author: Donna Leon
    Narrator: David Colacci
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 18 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-13-11
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 209 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Late one night, Commissario Guido Brunetti's telefonino rings. A woman's body has been found in a Spartan apartment on Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio. Brunetti sees some signs of force on the old woman, but they could just as easily have been from the radiator near where she fell. When the medical examiner rules that the woman died of a heart attack, it seems there is nothing to investigate. But he can't shake the feeling that perhaps the woman was threatened.
Conversations with the womans son, her upstairs neighbor, and the nun in charge of the old-age home where she volunteered do little to satisfy Brunettis nagging curiosity. With the help of Inspector Vianello and the ever-resourceful Signorina Elettra, perhaps Brunetti can get to the truth and find some measure of justice.
    Members Reviews:
    Worth a listen, but
a somewhat disappointing entry into this excellent series. Well-narrated as ever by David Colacci, and filled with the familiar characters and local color, I found that the plot didn't gel on this one. A retired teacher is found dead in her apartment and in the course of the investigation it is revealed that she worked with two service agencies: a home for the elderly and a group which provides abused women refuge and a new start. Although interesting dirt is discovered in both camps, the mystery tailed off without real resolution and leaving a number of loose ends. Brunetti seems a bit tired.
    Absolutely Awful
    Any additional comments?
Almost 8 hours of it and still no plot. At least 2 hours were filled with "He said", 'She said".
    Compelling story
This is my first Donna Leon book and I will definitely read or listen to more of her works. The story is complex and most of the characters are finely drawn. Leon has a lot of insight into the human character and what drives us. David Colacci is the perfect narrator for this work.
Italian accent doesn't work for me
The characters aren't Italian speakers speaking English. They're Italian speakers speaking Italian. Seems weird.
    Donna Leon
Would you listen to Drawing Conclusions again? Why?
Yes I would listen again. Donna Leon is one of my favorite authors. She has perfect pitch on Venice and her prose is impeccable.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Drawing Conclusions?
    The excellent conclusion.
What about David Colaccis performance did you like?
He is a pro. I've listened to amateur volunteers elsewhere, so hearing his intelligent approach was a relief and a pleasure.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    The old man, of course.
    Any additional comments?
    I love Donna Leon.

    Another winner
This is a great book. It started with action and kept it up through the entire book. This is the best in the series, so far.
This book is a dont read it dont buy it!
What would have made Crawlspace better?
The characters are not interesting or unique, the plot might have had a shot if the characters had not been so pathetic. It crept on and on and there was no reason to care about anyone.
    I enjoyed this!
I wanted to try an author I hadn't known and was pleasantly surprised. The reader was also very good. I'll be looking for more Sarah Graves-Home Repair Homicides

    Mercy Kill
This is an interesting series about a women army sniper who is discharged after 20 + years of service and returns to the family ranch in South Dakota. Enjoyed the flash back memory of her Army time and the information about the Indian Reservation and its relationship with the non-Indian town. I would have preferred less foul language but over all enjoyed the story. Mercy's running for Sheriff may lead to another interesting job for her.

Now nearing the end of his illustrious career, the highly decorated Coletti seems to be on the top of his world. But Coletti is harboring a terrible secret. Need more then one narrator
I loved the story but need more than one narrator would've took over the top
    Good story
I couldn't follow the reader all the time. I'm not sure if it was the actual story or how it was read. The story overall was pretty good. It kept me guessing. I didn't see the ending coming though!
    Who cast and directed this?
I chose this novel, in part because I grew up in Philadelphia. The author has good ideas, his narrative skills are a bit pedestrian. But the narration is driving me up the wall. All the characters so far are locals, yet many of them speak with a vaguely southern accent. This is Philly. People in every neighborhood have a distinctive accent, and it doesn't come from anywhere near below the Mason/Dixon line. It's making it really hard to listen to. It's like you had characters from Southie, in Boston, speaking with New Orleans drawls. Or Scottish burrs. It really detracts from the listening experience.

When Mickey Haller is invited by the Los Angeles County District Attorney to prosecute a case for him, he knows something strange is going on.
Mickey's a defense lawyer, one of the best in the business, and to switch sides like this would be akin to asking a fox to guard the hen-house. But the high-profile case of Jason Jessup, a convicted child-killer who spent almost 25 years on death row before DNA evidence freed him, is an intriguing one - particularly since the DA's determination to re-charge and re-try him for the same crime, seems doomed to failure.
Eager for the publicity and drawn to the challenge, Mickey takes the case, with Detective Harry Bosch on board as his lead investigator.

    Another great listen
This is another good book from Michael Connelly. Those who love this style of book will not be dissapointed.
    Kept me guessing
The outcome seemed obvious until!! mKept me guessing until the end. Story line flowed and linked up seamlessly
    Courtroom drama and detective story
Two characters Michael Connelly's developed over several titles - Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch - both sign up for what seems like an impossible prosecution. A courtroom drama and a detective story unfold, with both players living up to their illustrious pasts. As a Bosch fan, I was pleased to see old Harry back and the whole thing unfolded in a gripping way that had me on the edge of my seat. Every spare moment, I was sticking my earbuds in and catching up on the next steps in the tale. There wasn't any great last minute revelation or theatrical finale to build up to like a crescendo, but it didn't feel any less enthralling despite that. A great listen.
    From a Connelly lover
This is as always a great listen. If you liked The Lincoln lawyer, you will like this one. But you must also love/like very, very detailed court room dramas. Event hough Bosh is a big part of the story, it is a bit slow at times.
    Great book
If you like courtroom dramas then it doesn't get better than this! I love Michael Connelly. I love Mickey Haller. I love the narrator - Mickey Haller's voice is the best! Listened to it over 2 days. I want more!

    Interesting premise
What made the experience of listening to 61 Hours the most enjoyable?
The book starts with an interesting premise, left-over WW II methamphetamine, and then jumps to the present. I loved the story if not the narrator. If you like Jack, you will enjoy this latest tale.
    Reacher to the rescue
Good book with lots of action and suspense. Surprise ending for the wanderer. Well done, again.
