    Narrator: Joyce Bean
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 45 mins

    Release date: 04-24-10

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 180 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
It was a murder made for TV: a trail of tiny bloody footprints. An innocent toddler playing beside her mothers bludgeoned body. Pretty young Corinne Wolff, seven months pregnant, brutally murdered in her own home.
Cameras and questions dont usually faze Nashville homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson, but the media frenzy surrounding the Wolff case is particularly nastyand thorough. When the seemingly model mommy is linked to an amateur porn website with underage actresses and unwitting players, the sharks begin to circle.
The shock is magnified when an old adversary uses the sexy secret footage to implicate Taylor in a murder an accusation that threatens her career, her reputation, and her relationship.
Both cases hinge on the evidence real or manufactured of crimes that go beyond passion, into the realm of obsessive vengeance and shocking betrayal. Just what the networks love.

    new author
excellent book can't wait to read the next one.this is my new author, and I'm hoping that book 3 is as good as book 1 & 2.
    Mediocre at best
Sorry, but I really had trouble fighting my way through the whole thing. The timeline was weird and didn't make much sense, in that often too much happened in too little time to be realistic.
There was a horrible error made about 1/3 of the way through the book. It was so stupid and so unforgivable that it simply kept preying on my mind.
Somewhere about 2/3 of the way through the book, it dawned on me that much of the driving essence for many characters was right out of "The Girl Who..." (Steig Larrsen). That did me in.
BTW, the performer was OK, not great. Her "Southern" accent varied from Tennessee, to Southern Virginia, to Texas. Didn't make much sense.
I've enjoyed other of the series, but, that probably killed it, for me.
    #2 and it's the SH!+!
Oh wow! I've been doing some catch up on this author and I must say she is phenomenal!!
As the plot lays out you get to like Taylor Jackson and her no b.s. attitude. Her family's dynamics on the other hand, yikes! Made me sad for the character. I can't go to deep into this book as I know me, I'll give things away that the reader(s) should listen or read on their own. I want to just blurt exciting things, the sad, the Ugly.
Y'all have read the cover story and maybe the first book, "All the Pretty Girls", it's getting better!
Just ordered Judas Kiss today! Told you I am playing catch up, but for a first timer, this series is not a disappointment.
It's worth the time and money, if it changes, I'll let you know.
    Happy Reading!!
    Very entertaining!
What made the experience of listening to 14: Taylor Jackson Series #2 the most enjoyable?
I liked the twist and turns of the story. The author gives you just enough to try to figure out what is going on but always adds a twist that surprises you.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Lincoln. He is the quiet character, but has a personality you can't help but like and he is one of the smaller characters so I get excited when he is in a part being read.
What does Joyce Bean bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Perhaps she brings a sensce of realness to the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    I laugh a lot through J.T.

    Completely gripped me.
One of the best audible books I've listened to, out of hundreds.
I found this audiobook just surfing around the audible site. I'd never heard of this author before. I found a gem.
The author is a wordmaster and a master of ideas. The story is very fresh and original
    and it completely gripped me.
The narration is perfect. Clear and concise, the narrator mastered his voices and accents.
The characters are well defined and interesting.
Definitely, I would listen to the first book first, and then this one.
If you like the first one, you will enjoy this one too. They are cut from the same mold and part of the same fantastic mythos.
    Must Read!
A cross between Brown's DaVinci Code & Follett's Pillars of the Earth, Cooper gives a fast and thrilling read. I highly recommend reading The Secret of the Seventh Son, which is the prequel to this book, before delving into this one, as it provides greater depth into the history of the Books and the Order. Both novels are excellent.
    Great Read
First of all if you have not read Secrets of the Seventh Son do not read this one first! I did read Book of Souls first and I throughly enjoyed it but realized that if I had read the first book first I would have "caught on" much sooner. It was a little trying jumping back into the past then forward into the future but once I understood why Mr. Cooper was doing this the book came together for me. This is my first read with Glenn Cooper and I loved his style. I am now going to read Secrets of the Seventh Sons. The narration was great too. I would highly recommend this one AFTER you read Seventh Sons.
    Surprising!
Boyett narrates one of the more intriguing thrillers I have heard in awhile. Plot rips along, and interesting historical flashbacks add some colour. Actually the resolve leaves one wanting abit more. I recommend this one!
Wonderful, but hear 7th Son first
I had never heard of Glenn Cooper before downloading Secret of the 7th Son, but he's well worth listening to. The narrator is excellent. I can't wait to get into the car so I can keep listening.
However, don't listen to this one first. The 7th Son is the first story and if you were to listen to them in reverse, I think you'd miss a lot.

    Title: All Mortal Flesh
Subtitle: A Clare Fergusson and Russ Van Alstyne Mystery

    Narrator: Suzanne Toren
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 13 hrs and 46 mins

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 100 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Police Chief Russ van Alstyne doesn't expect any gossip in the town about his carefully contained feelings for the Reverend Clare Fergusson. So he certainly doesn't expect to be the prime suspect when his wife is found murdered in their own home. To the state police, it's an open-and-shut-case of a disaffected husband, silencing first his wife, then the investigation he controls.
But nothing is as it seems in the small Adirondack town of Millers Kill, where betrayal twists old friendships and evil waits inside white-clapboard farmhouses. Russ and Clare struggle against the reach of the law, the authority of the church, and their own guilty hearts in All Mortal Flesh.

    Advances the Narrative
The characters depart from working together as they had in previous books ... looking forward to reading how the relationship changes in the next book.
    Fabulous series, great writing
I love the complexity of the people in this series. The relationship between Russ and Clare gets especially complicated in this one. The tension between the two of them is paralleled by the tension between each and his or her employers. And that's without the drama of the murder and chasing down suspects and Clare getting herself in peril yet again. I also like the writing: The language and imagery are both varied and sophisticated which makes for a satisfying and stimulating read.
The best one in the series yet -- but it is no 5!
Would you listen to All Mortal Flesh again? Why?
Probably not -- I rarely read books twice or listen to them twice.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Claire -- I am an Episcopalian so it's neat to have a main character from my church and tradition. Plus she's a strong female character which is always refreshing
    Any additional comments?
This is book no. 5 in the series not book no. 4 which is what the Audible information says! Please fix this Audible. It's VERY important to read these books in order and as far as I know they are not all available as audiobooks on Audible. I had to read a couple in regular print form. Please do them all as audiobooks and number them correctly!
    A Must-Read in the Series
While I'm more of a crime or detective mystery reader, the series' premise of an Episcopal priest who falls in love with the married police chief while investigating crimes in their small community has been an intriguing storyline to watch develop. I didn't like this story as much as the first books in the series; but it seems to be one that you must read before moving on to the others. And, I will be reading the others.
    couldn't finish it
What disappointed you about All Mortal Flesh?
    narration
    Any additional comments?
I think this quite possibly would have been a good book. I couldn't get past the horrific narration. Upstate New York is not the deep south so what's with the southern belle accent? And if you can't do a male voice then for pity's sake just read with your own voice and let the listener figure it out. What a waste.

    DISAPPOINTING AND DISGUSTING!
This is one of the worst books I have ever listened to from Audible. I enjoy murder mysteries and listen to them regularly. This one crosses the line into some kind of sick voyeuristic perversion. This book contains vivid descriptions on the rape, torture and murder of women. This book focuses on the exploitation of women more than solving the crime. My husband was horrified by what he heard. We asked for a refund the book was so bad. I have been a Platinum member for 6 or 7 years and have NEVER requested a refund until now. This book is awful.
    Swimsuit
I bought it because I like the author and usually enjoy what he writes. For me, this was just too sick, graphic and sad.
    Violent terror and torture..too realistic
This storyline will cause nightmares. It should come with a warning label. I am a huge Patterson fan..love the Cross series and Women's Murder Club. Some collaborations are ok. This story however saddens me to think that there may be some disturbed individuals in our world such as the main characters. It also makes one wonder what reasonable person would write such horror. This one is a bit too graphic for me.
    Another Disappointing Collaboration
I really like James Patterson's books, but since he has been co-authoring these stories, I cannot remember one that I've really liked.
This one is not believable. The characters are stupid, shallow and not interesting, even the "evil killer" is bland. It is all very predictable and for me really, sorry to say, a waste of a credit.
    swimsuit
substitutes gruesome scenes and horrific characters for plot and skill. weak ending. save your money.

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Early in the dark, Indianapolis morning, Frank Behr's friend and mentor is murdered with no motive and no trace of evidence left behind. Behr, a quiet, mountainous former cop, thirsts for answers and retaliation. But before he can make headway in the dead-end investigation, an exclusive private firm approaches him with a delicate proposition: two of its detectives have gone missing, and the firm wants Behr to find out what happened to them. Prodded to take the case by his old boss, the Indianapolis chief of police who holds the strings to Frank's possible return to the force, Behr accepts.
The search for the missing detectives takes Behr into the recesses of Indianapolis' underworld, a place rife with brutality and vice and a stark contrast to the city's gentle public image. As Behr calls on old street contacts and his hard-boiled investigative skills, he is led deeper into a twisted society of organized crime and an unknown landscape of "pea-shake" houses, low-rent, transient gambling rings staged in condemned buildings around the city.
Unexpectedly, Behr uncovers a shocking thread connecting the missing detectives to his friend's brutal murder, and, in the process, Behr is forced to confront an ominous, deadly new breed of crime family.
Introduced in City of the Sun, Frank Behr instantly attracted critical attention and a devoted fan base, and Where the Dead Lay places Behr on a broader, edgier stage. This extraordinary crime novel stands with the best of Michael Connelly and Lee Child, featuring a brilliantly drawn, ruthless criminal family whom readers will not soon forget, and showcasing the immense talents of David Levien.
    Critic Reviews:
"Relentless....The story conveys a piercing sense of honesty....The truth of the characters - and the intensity of their pain - is as unbearably real as it gets." (The New York Times Book Review)
"City of the Sun is going to be a finalist for thriller of the year." (Rocky Mountain News)
"One of the toughest, most gut-wrenching, and most believable suspense novels I've ever encountered." (Lincoln Child)
    Members Reviews:
    Very Good Writer
I liked this book and its predecessor .Great characters and a deliberate plot that the writer takes no short cuts with. I hope there is more to come
    Tough Guy
I don't understand why this book is being ignored by downloaders??? Author David Levien has created an outstanding lead character in Frank Behr. He is a throw-back to the unrepentant bad-@$$ tough guys of the past, but with a modern edge (I love the Brazilian jiu-jitsu angle). Behr is the kind of dude that we all wish really existed and were on our side. Behr is as complex and interesting as my favorite cop/private eyes (Bosch, Robicheaux, & Cole). This book and its predecessor, City of the Sun, are on par with some of the best crime novels of the last few years. Levien's skills aren't quite yet in the same class as Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, and Robert Crais, but he's on the same campus.

    Wonderful listen
Michael Connelly at his best. This is highly recommended book. Any listener will not be dissapointed.
    Fantasic - couldn't stop!
What did you like about this audiobook?
Another fantastic Michael Connelly novel - fast moving and gets your interest from the start . As the story unfolds the way the characters are described makes them real. Very good plot too.
    Fantastic! Could not stop listening!
The 2nd instalment of the Jack McEvoy series was just great. I could not stop listening and finished the book in just a day. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good read.
If you liked The Poet, you'll like this!
I very much enjoyed Connelly's books about the Poet and looked forward to another McEvoy novel. This book does not dissappoint! The shifting perspective between the killer and those who chase him, and of course the plot as a whole make it well worth listening. Peter Giles does a great job narrating.
    Suspenseful, good listen
I enjoyed Peter Giles narration of The Scarecrow. It was simple to follow when characters changed. I think his voice added a robustness to the characters and brought the book to life for me. I enjoyed listening to this story as it was gripping from start to finish. One I am sure I will come back to.

    Light Read
I chose this book for a light read, and that's what I got. The author's strength is in her characterization, but the plot was weak. Some reviewers didn't care for the narrator, but I thought she did an adequate reading for most of the characters and a fine job with Miss Julia.
    Delightful Story
After reading the review by Deborah, I almost didn't purchase this book. I'm glad I relented, because the story is delightful and I did not have the same issue with the narrator that Deborah had. I do agree that the voice of Little Lloyd is a bit juvenile, but not so much as to affect the overall quality of narration. I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the Miss Julia series.
    Wonderful Read, disappointing Narrator
Perhaps one of the best of Ross' "Miss Julia" books, full of twist and turns, southern old-style charm we fans have come to adore. I would easily have given this 4 stars but for the narrator, who makes men sound like they are billy goat gruffs, and the children sound like they are toddlers, and worst of all, Miss Julia sound sing-songy and fake. If you want to hear a truly great narrator handle one of the Miss Julia books, try "Miss Julia Paints the Town, narrated by Claudia Hughes. Hughes' voice contains the nuances of each personality as they were written by Ross. In an audiobook, the narrator can make or break a story. It's only my deep love and affection for "Miss Julia" that made me download this book, knowing that even Cynthia Darlow couldn't ruin the story for me. But then, I had to listen to one of the earlier books narrated by Claudia Hughes to get the Darlow voices out of my head. If you can hack the narrator, the story is terrific.
    Miss Julia does it again
Ann B. Ross is amazing. All of the Miss Julia books are incredible. I laugh so hard I cry. And, this book is no exception. I can hardly wait for the next book. You will not be disappointed if you choose this book.
An unexpected pregnancy of Hazel Marie
Miss Julia faces two serious personal crises in Miss Julia Delivers the Goods by Ann B Ross. First, Hazel Marie, the former mistress of Julia's first husband and the mother of Wesley Lloyd Springer's illegitimate son, Lloyd, gets really sick. Taking Hazel Marie to the doctor, Miss Julia has to put her friend in the hospital until the young doctor substituting for the regular doctor on vacation finally does a pregnancy test, which comes out positive. But Hazel Marie has just broken up with her longtime gentleman friend, JD Pickens, because he has no desire to get married, so Hazel Marie has decided to stand up for herself and end things with Mr. Pickens and refuses to tell him about her pregnancy. So ashamed of having another illegitimate baby, Hazel Marie tries to find all sorts of schemes to get away from town, so no one will know her sin.
