Utterly gripping. Can not wait for the next installment. The narration is wonderful, calm, controlled but exciting to listen to. The characters are believable, the kind of people you care about, especially Dog!!!!!!

Some days feel like years, but in Ember Brycin's case just the opposite is true. Em would be 22 now - if she were human. She's not. She is a Dae - part Demon and part Fay - with a little Dark Dweller thrown in to make her more of a freak.
Life has become more complicated for Ember since returning from the Otherworld. Besides being continuously hunted by the Seelie Queen, Ember is at the top of the Unseelie King's list, after breaking her oath with him. No one breaks a vow with the Unseelie King without extreme consequences.
Adding to Ember's problems is a certain Dark Dweller whose mood has become violent and cruel. As much as she'd like to deny it, there is an undeniable connection between them. Eli is sexy, gorgeous, and frustrating as hell. She also knows he is holding something back, something that could change their relationship forever.
But her problems go way past him. As the tension for war mounts between the Seelie and Unseelie (Light and Dark), the tension at the Dark Dweller's compound escalates even more as they prepare to obtain the Sword of Light - the only weapon able to kill the Queen.
But is Ember the answer to the location of the sword? Is she the one to fulfill the prophecy? As usual, nothing is ever what it seems.

    was not my favorite installment
Dwellers of Darkness is the third book in the young adult/new adult paranormal fantasy series by Stacey Marie Brown. They really should be read in order. It is the story of Ember Brycin who has discovered that she is part fay and part demon and has unwillingly become embroiled in a battle between Light, the Seelie, and Dark, the Unseelie.
In this installment, Ember has returned from the Otherworld with her Mum Lily, who I found to be a rather unlikeable character for a mother, and with her best friend Kennedy, who is starting to play a significant role. Ember is back with the Dark Dwellers and moody, badass Eli who is marginally annoyed with her for having vanished for three years because time moves at a different pace on earth. I have to admit the repetitive arguing - sex - arguing - sex between Ember and Eli became a tad maddening at times. But Cal and Simmon, the two pixies, added some lovely humor to the story and have become my favorite characters alongside Eli, of course. For a while, there did not seem to be much happening plot-wise, but then the pace picked up and the plot moved forward and so, thankfully, did Ember and Eli's relationship. Ember is determined to rescue her Dad and captive friends from the Seelie Queen. Together with a diverse group of friends, family, and foe, she sets off to find a sword that can kill the Queen. Due to the obvious foreshadowing, the developments at the end of the book were not as surprising as I would have liked. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed listening to this, but it was not my favorite installment of the series. The story continues in "Blood Beyond Darkness", which is the final part of this series, and I will definitely pick it up in the future.
Michelle Sparks continues her excellent performance of this series. She really brings these characters to life and gets all the emotion across in a wonderful manner. Her pacing is superb and she is a great fit for Ember. Excellent narration.

    PLEASE MORE
Left with emotional attachments and sentiments of betrayal as this segment ended. Please expidite the next book.
    Love this series!
    Overall:
So Im actually having to go back and skim over the books as I write the reviews because I blew through them so quickly. I have not been his obsessed with a series since starting ACOTAR/ACOMAF. I wasnt going to write a review for the last 3 books because all of them are running together, but I feel like I owe these books my attention, lol. These books are not very well known (only 168 reviews on Goodreads for this one) and I feel like more people should know about them. Im just going to do mini reviews on them though. The genre is a mixture between Urban Fantasy, New Adult, and Paranormal Romance. Its not all about the romance, but its definitely in there.
The second books picks up with Zoey and Ryker in Peru after Zoey jumps them there to escape the DMG hunters at the end of book one. Almost all of book two takes place in Peru, which is a nice change of scenery from Seattle. Ryker and Zoey continue to try and find a way to transfer Rykers powers back to him, but run into some trouble as the powers begin to adapt to Zoey.
-We meet a new character, a sexy fae pirate named Croygen *swoons*. I absolutely adore his character because of his heavy snark and sense of humor, Im always a sucker for someone who can make me laugh. Youre not sure whether you can trust him or not in the beginning, but he begins to grow on you.
-Ugh Amara is back. I knew I wouldnt like her because Im totally team Zoey and Ryker, but even without that shes a stone cold B. One of my least favorite characters in any series. Ever. What she does to Zoey and Ryker at the end of this book made me want to reach through my phone and punch her in the face.
-And of course Sprig is still here. His character is a great comic relief and works in bringing Zoey and Ryker closer.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I watched his eyes move up my figure. My skin tingled every place they went. Then his eyes landed back on mine.

    Publisher's Summary:
Like millions of other kids, Jim grew up wanting to be a superhero. Unlike most of his contemporaries, however, Jim actually had the goods: a plethora of super powers that would have been the envy of any meta on the planet. But when his tryout with the Alpha League - the world's premiere group of supers - goes disastrously wrong, Jim basically becomes an outcast.
Two years later, Jim is still bitter about what happened to him. However, he soon finds himself the centerpiece in an odd turn of events that gives him a second chance at his dream. But nothing is as easy as it sounds, as Jim soon discovers. Among other things, he's made an enemy of a prospective super teammate, he's being stalked by an unknown pursuer, and a shadowy cabal bent on world domination has identified him as the only obstacle to their plans.
It's a lot for one super to handle, even with a smorgasbord of abilities. But if saving the world were easy, everyone would do it.

    Did you say superheroes?
This was a great book. I was a little hesitate because i was afraid it would be to young adult. But it surprised me. It was full of action and held my attention throughout the book. It kinda reminded me of watching shows like Flash. The narration was great too. I hope there will be more in this series. I received this audio book free for an honest review.
    So much fun!!
How have I not heard of this before!! This book was so much fun and even though it's only about 5 and a half hours long, it's chock full of action, adventure and super powers!!
Jim was such an amazing hero. He has multiple powers, and more arriving every day, which prompts him to try out for the Alpha League. While some of his powers are useless, he still hopes to become a member of the greatest superheroes ever. It's during his try outs that things start to go badly wrong and Jim finds himself on the run from the super heroes. He has to use every available power he has to evade them but manages to, for 2 years anyway! When he is finally found, his life will change forever, whether it's for good or bad though, you will just have to read it to see!
As I said, Jim is such an awesome hero. Being a superhero, you can't exactly be called Jim, so he changes his name to Kid. He has a plethora of powers, with more coming every so often, and I loved that about him. He may have been "special" but he wasn't arrogant or egotistical about it. He felt like a normal teen, with extraordinary powers. He was also so nice! All he wanted was to do good, but when the son of the most powerful superhero ever decides he doesn't like him, Jim has to become a fugitive. Even then, he still tries to do good!
Plot wise, it was fairly fast paced. I loved the sheer amount of superheroes, powers and indeed supervillians, we have in this book. Some of the powers were freakin awesome!! The author has really created an amazing world, filled with adventure, magic and powers. It's a world I can't wait to dive into again!!! Well written and developed, this was a truly entertaining read.
In all, I listened to this in a few hours and didn't want it to end. While some of the twists were predictable and you could see it coming, it was still a thoroughly enjoyable read.
I have listened to many, many books narrated by Mikael Naramore and have enjoyed his narration in every one of them.

    Gamer. Nerd. Sorceress.
This is the omnibus of the first three books in the USA Today best-selling urban fantasy series Twenty-Sided Sorceress, collected together for the first time in one convenient volume. Fans of The Dresden Files and The Iron Druid Chronicles will enjoy this series.
    Book One - Justice Calling
Jade Crow lives a quiet life running her comic book and game store in Wylde, Idaho. After 25 years fleeing from a powerful sorcerer who wants to eat her heart and take her powers, quiet suits her just fine. Surrounded by friends who are even less human than she is, Jade figures she's finally safe.
As long as she doesn't use her magic.
When dark powers threaten her friends' lives, a sexy shape-shifter enforcer shows up. He's the shifter world's judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one, and he thinks Jade is to blame. To clear her name, save her friends, and stop the villain, she'll have to use her wits and her sorceress powers.
Except Jade knows that as soon as she does, a far deadlier nemesis awaits.
Book Two - Murder of Crows
They say you can never go home again. If only that were true.
Game store owner and nerd sorceress extraordinaire Jade Crow knows death stalks her in the form of her murderous ex-lover, Samir, a sorcerer who wants to eat her heart and take her power. With the help of her friends, and sexy tiger-shifter Alek, Jade trains for the inevitable confrontation.
Until her estranged father shows up begging for help. Someone or something is murdering the crow shifters of Three Feathers ranch and her father believes sorcery is the only way to stop the killings.
Faced with an unknown foe, a family that exiled her decades before, a deepening relationship with Alek, and Samir's ever-present threat, Jade will need all the power she's gained and then some to stop the Murder of Crows.
Book Three - Pack of Lies
Let sleeping dogs lie. Wolves, on the other hand.
Recovering from a broken heart and coming to terms with her family history, all sorceress Jade Crow wants is to resume running her comic book store and gaming with her friends. With a town full of strange wolf shifters, a 150-year-old peace accord hanging in the balance, and the Justice who broke her heart back in her life, Jade's plans go out the proverbial window.
Wolves are killing wolves, innocent human lives are caught in the crossfire, and not everyone in town is who they appear to be. As the bodies stack up and the doubts build, Jade and her friends race to find the true killer.
And then Jade's evil ex-lover makes another move.

    It's Okay
The first story was ok, but, I'm not sure if I wll read the next two stories. The plot was predictable and a bit flat. However, the characters and the world created is interesting.
A nice bit of Fluff for Urban Fantasy
If you could sum up The Twenty-Sided Sorceress Series, Books 1-3 in three words, what would they be?
    Short, Sweet, Simple
Almost 11 hrs for three books is a bit like reading a dime store paperback or a young adult book. Not what I'd expect from this.
The story isn't bad, but it's nothing special either.

    Great original story!
I loved the Night Angel triology, WoT, GoT, LoR, and Blood Song.... this series stands with them.
Great story, the authors reading has improved
in the first story house of blades the authors reading was very fast. The pace has slowed down considerably and more personality has been given to each character.
    Will Wight Delivers again!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Crimson Vault to be better than the print version?
I'm dyslexic so i have trouble reading. That being said, the audio book is read by the author... so you will always get the proper tone and meaning with the words that are said.
What other book might you compare The Crimson Vault to and why?
Comparing it to the first book, it is even better. I gave the first book 5/5 because it was well earned. This book takes everything from the first one and expands on it. You don't just dive into a world and get a birds eye view, you get to stand in it with the characters and experience the chaos of a real world.
Have you listened to any of Will Wights other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. It is wonderful to hear an author bring life to their own work in a way that only they can.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to all 10(or so) hours in a row. Three times. The story is so enjoyable it leaves you thirsting for more. Any time i had to pause it for a moment or so was agony.
    Any additional comments?
Will has produced another wonderful story. I can't wait for the final book to come out and i hope it is soon!
One of my favorite series, getting even better!
This is book to in the Travelers Gate trilogy, and really is an excellent addition to the series. A lot of second of three books are just placeholders, but not this one. This very definitely move the story along and advances the character's growth.Simon and Leah both have great character growth, and there are some major changes for a lot of the other characters, too. There is also a lot of the backstory for the other Valinhall Travelers filled in in a series of flashbacks. The plotting is fast paced, the battles are extremely well done and action packed, and you can really sympathize with the characters. There is also a lot more magic used in this one, really showcasing a lot more of what each terrritory brings to the table as far as magic. I think this is a uniquee kind of series, playing against tropes, but if anything in style is close, it's Brandon Sanderson's work. Will Wight self narrated this, and he has gotten better over the course of the two books so far, really gaining in confidence as a narrator. I recommend this book and series to any fan of Brandon Sanderson, you wont be disappointed.
    perfection
    great from start to finish.

    Members Reviews:
Didn't cast a spell on me
I get that Grossman is trying to create a three-dimensional protagonist with weaknesses and problems. In doing so the character is probably supposed to be easier to identify with. But I never identified with Quentin, and I lost my interest in him throughout the book. I want to read something that inspires me, but reading about Quentin's self-pity and his poor view on life and people in general is just depressing.
Along with this I must say the plot is not intriguing enough and it seems like the novel is missing some editing. Loose plot ends are thrown out now and again without being picked up which made me think the author forgot about them. And for an "adult fantasy" it just doesn't seem to be intelligent enough. You never understand what is the agenda of influential off-screen characters (Fogg, Mayakovsky), which makes me think there are none. The only way this fantasy novel is adult is in the frequent occurrence of drugs, sex and alcohol, I was hoping there would a more sophisticated side to the story than that but I did't find it.
Grossman's language and imagination is good enough for a good fantasy novel, but "The Magician's" misses out on too many other things.
    entertaining
I did like it, but the stereotypes about women were a bit much. I've heard people say it's Harry Potter for older people, with the swearing and the drinking and such, but I do not agree. I like the concept of what it is to go on an adventure as an adult, but it lacks depth, and the story isn't the best. but it is entertaining.
    Tediously captivating
A wonderful performance of the embodiment of tedium and chasing happiness beyond the horizon. Annoyingly depressing and yet the story sucks you in and along the dark and gloomy alley towards the blackness at the end.
    Amazing!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Magicians, Book 1?
It's the same magical concept as Harry Potter, but for older people. It's better than harry potter for adults. Brilliant. The writing, the story, the characters. I loved it and can't wait to listen to the others.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I could have listened to it in 1 sitting, I would have. I'm happy that it was as long as it is. The interruptions made it better, I would think about the book when I wasn't listening.
    loved this book
So much better than the tv show, it's got some brilliantly dark yet wonderful moments and the variation of characters and and adventures is wildly entertaining

Which is stronger: blood ties or a battle-tested friendship? That's the question Gin Blanco asks when a friend's long-lost relative strolls into town. The suspicious reunion is a surprise for everyone - and a big problem for Gin.
Book 14 in the New York Times best-selling urban fantasy series RT Book Reviews calls "unbeatable entertainment"!
It's not easy being queen bee of an underworld abuzz with crooks and killers. Wielding my potent Ice and Stone elemental magic will get me only so far - my real secret is my tight-knit makeshift family, a motley crew of cops and criminals, dwarves, and playboys. My foster brother, Finnegan Lane, is my right-hand man, but when his suddenly not-dead relative comes back into the picture, I'm the one on the outside looking in.
It's funny how life works: One minute your best friend is rock steady, and the next he's doe eyed and buying in to this whole loving-relative routine to the point of ignoring you. I'd like to be happy for Finn, I really would. But all of my instincts are telling me that beneath the syrupy-sweet demeanor and old-fashioned charm, this sudden interloper is planning something. The whole shtick leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. This person might have avoided the grave once, but I'll put anyone who hurts Finn in the ground - for good.

    Everything is all my fault!
So tired of her self-flagellation. It's all my fault that so and so died, so and so is in danger, so and so is ... whatever. Stop already. Let the bad guys take the blame for being bad guys and stop making me listen to how Gin Blanco thinks she's at fault for people hurting her friends and family. It sends the message that people are responsible for the action of others - they are not.
I enjoy the series but this one thing, this one point, makes me grind my teeth and yanks me right out of the world of the story.
I would love to see the fierce Gin Blanco, the Spider, tell people that they are responsible for their own actions and not those of others.
And truly - Gin - stop whining!
    Another continuation
What did you like best about Bitter Bite? What did you like least?
Bitter Bite is a good story just as all the other 13 books have been but by now i am getting abit tired of the same old approach to this series. this has been the same book as almost all the others in the series. Gin Always wins out after getting caught and escaping by a hairs breath. For this series to get better i think that Gin needs to stop being a victim and start too take charge of her life. Just being a passive observer in the crime capital that she lives in is not enough. SHE IS "THE" ASSASSIN in the crime world good dammit start acting the part.
What was most disappointing about Jennifer Esteps story?
The most disappointing is that the series is not moving ahead its the same story all over again with a new twist and i belive that this has been going on ever since the defeat of her loong lost archnemesis.
Which character as performed by Lauren Fortgang was your favorite?
Lauren is still very good at giving the characters the Life they deserve.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No i would not pay to see the movie 14 times.
    Great Series
    EA review
The Elemental Assassin books are great. very engaging with interesting strong characters and good story lines.

They have a special spark of soul - not quite enough to be naturally gifted in spellcraft but greater than the average person, a tiny flame that can ignite incredible potential. They possess the ability to fight back against the Vorid: the ability to become a Contractor.
Daniel Fitzgerald is one of those people, but when duty comes calling he promptly slams the door in its face. He has no illusions of grandeur. He is not someone special. He wants to go to school and study law. And frankly, he doesn't really like people, and he doesn't want anything to do with magic. He just wants to be left alone. But when the entire planet is a battlefield, there is no place to run.

    Where. Is. The. Sequel!!!!
I loved this book. I took the long way home just to be able to listen to it 30 minutes more per day. I even drive the speed limit.
Now it's over. I've been furiously combing the Internet and any Andrew S. Ball site I can find to figure out then it will be released. I've come up with nothing definitive and I want to scream.
I hate the idea of Black Friday. However, I like this book so much that if it were a Black Friday item, I'd drop a WWE elbow on a petite soccer mom just to get the last copy.
And Luke Daniels as the narrator just made this even more fabulous. That man can narrate IKEA instructions and make them bearable.
I honestly only gave this book s glance because I was trying to fill in my time until the next Iron Druid book (another Luke Daniels narration that you MUST read if you have not) was released. I thought I'd hate it because the reviews kept calling it "young adult". I'm so friggin' glad I gave this book a shot.
    Five stars all around.
    Greatful only for the moment
Luke Daniels did a great jod with this book. The book is well worth the credit, Andrew Ball did a great job of not exposing too much of the story too soon. He also turned in a science fiction adventure that has an actual story line. Some events of the story wreak of incidents in other stories, but Mr. Bell injects enough original ideas that the other distractinns are not objectionable
Worth the credit, and I am ready for the great escape that's coming!
    Unexpectedly awesome
It's really hard not to spoil stuff so I will say this: It's a well written young adult story and if you like good, kinda dark fantasy in modern times (urban fantasy it's caleld I think?) mixed with sci-fi, great characters and well written fight scenes, this is definetly book for you!
I bought this audiobook kinda on a whim. I wanted to try random fantasy so I bought something Luke Daniels narrated and I was seriously surprised. How to explain the book without spoiling a lot of stuff. What I will say is, movie of this book would be absolutely spectacular. Magic gives author incredible range of how fight scenes can look and those were definetly one of best parts of this book.
Main character especially is really fun to imagine when he fights and I couldnt get enough of those scenes. It is fun to watch him get better and better.
    When it comes to characters.

"For her to love me, she had to be willing to kill me. Anything else would show that her heart was untrue."
The struggle against not-so-charming storybook narratives isn't the only complicating factor in Henrietta "Henry" Marchen's life. As part of the ATI Management Bureau team protecting the world from fairy tales gone awry, she's juggling her unwanted new status as a Snow White, dealing with a potentially dangerous Pied Piper, and wrangling a most troublesome wicked stepsister - along with a budding relationship with Jeff, her teammate.
But when a twisted, vicious Cinderella breaks out of prison and wreaks havoc, things go from disenchanted to deadly. And once Henry realizes someone is trying to use her to destroy the world, her story becomes far from over - and this one might not have a happily ever after.
Indexing: Reflections is New York Times bestselling author Seanan McGuire's continuing new urban fantasy, where everything you thought you knew about fairy tales gets turned on its head.

Why do her books have to end???
Honestly, I never want her books to end. The characters, the worlds, the storylines... And the narration, I could listen forever. I listen to Audio books every day and Seanan Mcguire's books are at the top of the list of books that captivate me. Mary's narration bring the books to life in a way that make the characters feel like friends. More, please?!
    Irritating narrator
The story is great and the narrator did a good job for the most part. Her narration of Sloan was so irritating that my skin was crawling. I'm actually listening now and it's infuriating me.
    Good book, but has problems
First, I didn't care for the voice performance at all. She falls out of character at several places and Sloane's voice creeps into Henri's dialogue at several points. It's a jarring contrast.
The story itself starts off strong and is on par with the first book of the series. However, it falls apart and feels a little deus ex machina during the climax.
    More Twisted Fairy Tale Magic!
I fell in love with Indexing right away and this sequel was just as good. It has the perfect mix of magic and darkness. The characters are complex and interesting. I am happy that there are multiple strong female characters (one of which has to struggle with her "good girl" programming) and a transgender character who is not a stereotype and who is central to the plot. The idea of monomyths and competing narratives creates a dynamic setting. Some might argue that magic gets used to bail the characters out a little too easily, especially when preventing death or at the showdown at the end (or should I say snowdown?), but I thought that the rules of the world were consistent and it works more than not. Plus, it's just fun! The narrator also does a great job with all the voices. Sloan sounds like a petulant teen but that works with her character (whom I love). I am really hoping this will become a series! In fact, I think I want that enough to make a deal with a talking frog or a magic mirror. let's hope I don't encounter either of those anytime soon.
    I'm sad the audiobook ended
I enjoyed this book, and I hope there will be a lot more books form the Indexing world
